Morning...............

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mrsjaffabiffa · 01/03/2007 19:33

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh how exciting thanks Mr AM. It's like christmas all over again today, secret showers and mystery parcels.

twelveyeargap · 01/03/2007 19:46

Has anyone ever been to one of those baby shows? I'm wondering whether to bother going to the one at Excel next week.

cinnamontam · 01/03/2007 19:54

Ooo Ooo I'm going to the one at Earls Court next Saturday. Is that the one you are talking about? We can meet up if you like?

anneme · 01/03/2007 19:55

LW glad to hear all went well - you mustn't feel bad about asking for help whenever you need it. And don't worry about hearing screaming etc - I went on a tour of the labour unit before DS and there was a woman screaming - freaked me out a bit but the midwife showing us round just rolled her eyes and pointed out (as I think someone else has said) that the volume of noise is not directly proportional to the amount of pain felt - it can be when people are scared and don't know what is going on so do attend some classes/read books. I have some hypnotherapy cds which are good - and i certainly found that the yoga/breathing I did last time helped in labour (I was so paranoid about shouting that I kept whispering and getting annoyed with DH when he didn't know what I was saying) BAsically my yoga teacher said that as soon as you feel panicky and therefore start shallow breathing you should start deep breathing and make sure toes and top lip are relaxed - sounds weird but it helps. Think i have said this before but am hoping that everyone else has preg brain and so won't remember.
Like idea of baby shower - one day I will even get round to doing profile and pics - suspect it will be just before birth.

Any news of Charleymouse?

btw - lg&t re Jonah - my DS has his bday in sept so will start school 2 wks before he is 5 - that means that he will basically spend the whole time being 4 not in school so it must be allowed mustn't it?

aprilmeadow · 01/03/2007 19:58

I went to the baby show at earls court in October 2005 when ds was 6mths old. I thought it was quite good, although be careful not to spend too much I think when i went they had a section run by Annabel Karmel. I got a my Maclaren XT there and took the one they had on show and they charged me 135 instead of 155. I darent go back!! DH wouldnt trust me!

LupinsBigLump · 01/03/2007 20:12

AM Monday is good with me, I have just emailed you my addy

I have never been to a baby show, I wouldnt trust myself altho I think it would be fun

DD's temp has come down she just has explosive bum now and looks run down

twelveyeargap · 01/03/2007 20:13

Cinnamon, do you mean the one at Excel in Docklands? The Baby Show I'm looking at isn't on at Earls Court until October. The Baby Show The Ideal Home exhibition is on at Earls Court that weekend.

I'd love to meet, but my cousin is coming over on Saturday. I was actually thinking of taking a half day from work on Friday and going over. That's pretty sad isn't it? Taking a half day from work to look at baby stuff.

SKYTVADDICT · 01/03/2007 20:25

Hi all

My maternity leave cover started today so I haven't had time to post earlier. She seems ok and very keen to learn. I did keep up with today's chat though so:-

sorry to hear about your DHs job Mrs JB. Hope something comes his way soon.

Pebblemum - the DDs keep looking at the gelli baff advert hopefully but I keep thinking not a chance!

Lupins - sorry to hear your DD isn't well. Hope she gets over it soon.

Lwatking - glad you are ok and have been checked out.

DD1 got her offer of a secondary school place today and it is the one we wanted - the local girls high school.

LG&T - posted your video today, hope it arrives ok.

Juicylucytoo · 01/03/2007 21:14

TYG / Cinnamontam - re Baby show - you've talked me into it!! Have just managaed to convince my Mum and Aunt that they really want to go to it while they're down in London for the weekend

aprilmeadow · 01/03/2007 21:54

LupinsBigLump · 01/03/2007 22:07

Juicy - lets do it

Juicylucytoo · 01/03/2007 22:38

will be there on the Saturday too Cin. Cool.

charleymouse · 02/03/2007 01:30

Hi glad to see everyone back, hope you are all well. After being almost the last one due it looks like I might pip you all at the post.
I had a scan today and apparently have to much fluid round twin 1 so could go into spontaneous labour at any time. They wanted to admit me today but I had a dose of steroids and am being admitted tomorrow. Apparently my cervix is nice and long (don't ask how they found that out) so was allowed home but they want me back quick sticks. I couldn't just leave DD behind so came hme to put my house in order so to speak.
Whatever am I going to do if I have to stay in hospiatal until they arrive. I have only ever spent a couple of nights away from DH and DD has only had one night without me. I am gutted. I really feel for you ladies who have to manage long distance for any length of time.
ANyway I am signing off and may be some time. Good luck with all of your babes. Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye. I am coming over all musical.

anneme · 02/03/2007 04:15

Good luck CM - it might be tough being in hosp for a time but, in the long run it will be worth it and it sounds as if they expect them to come a bit early anyway - look at Lg&t - I think her twins were here at about 29 wks (is that right LG&T?). BTW I had my cervix measured a while back - a very disconcerting experience - think it probably made DH feel v inadequte iyswim!

I decided to come on for a rant. i hope that none of you ladies are up and about at this time (unless itis our US brethren). I have just counted up and tonight is the 14th - FOURTEENTH - night in a row that I have had to get up and change DS's bedding in the middle of the night because he has wet himself. It is driving me nuts, particularly since i know that in a couple of months time I will be up at night A LOT. It is a shock to the system because he has never been a child to wake up in the night so we have been quite spoilt. Also he was being dry at night for quite a while before this so we know he can do it. I have stopped him drinking before bed, made him go to the loo etc etc Thought I was on a winner last night because he had done a poo just before bed and even weed on the carpet to prove that he had been (how thrilled i was)AAARGH!!!!!!
Tried to engage DH in discussion about this about 15 mins ago but, funnnily enough, he wasn't keen so I am afraid that you dear ladies are getting it all. DS has been snacking a lot after supper and has got into the habit of having a picnic (ie fruit/a biscuit etc)in front of CBeebies before bed - don't know if the fruit is having a diuretic effect...now getting paranoid that he is feeling twitchy about LO, he has been quite stroppy recently - what will he be like when LO arrives?!?!?
I'll stop now - thanks for listening, i feel better now.

anneme · 02/03/2007 04:36

forgot to say - keep us posted CM xxxx

aprilmeadow · 02/03/2007 07:43

CM - wishing you loads of luck and hope that the bubbas stay put for a while longer.

Anneme - how frustrating for you. We toyed with trying to get ds dry before this one arrived but decided to wait just in case he went backwards once she arrived and also because he is still only little (22mths). Have you spoken with your ds to see how he is feeling with regard to the new lo? I really hope that this phase passes for you.

Lupins - I am with you on the Take That tickets! D has the card, phone and number by his pc so that he can phone as soon as they go on sale! Didnt see them when they were around first time and was GUTTED and was in Florida when they toured last year. I must get tickets!!!

twelveyeargap · 02/03/2007 08:11

Oh Charleymouse. I doubt you'll get to read this, but best of luck! I feel really sorry for you, I hate hospitals, but obviously you're in the best place.

I can't wait to hear about your progress and about everything when the twins are born, but I know you'll have so much to think about with the operation and everything.

I'll be thinking of you - all of you!

LupinsBigLump · 02/03/2007 08:13

CM good luck hoping t1 stays put for a while longer

Anneme my dd was dry for ages ang the last few months she was been wetting the bed loads - I put her in nappies for a few days, not pull ups proper nappies - she hated it and was dry - the other day i said time to do the nappy thing again and she has been dry since!! could be worth a try, dont know how your feel about nappies but dd was most put out when i made her wear them

AM we have a team of 3 manning phone and internet with one mobile free in each house to make contact if one gets through lol - I went to the ultimate tour - OMG florida just wouldnt have compared it was the best night ever - well saying that i dont usually get to go out (sad i know), Ohhhh i so want to go, are you planning on london?? we are prepared to go to birmingham if nothing in london

charleymouse · 02/03/2007 08:44

Hi ladies
Thanks to everyone who had asked after me I have only just caught up with the posts did not get chance to read them all at the ungodly hour I posted.

NSL must have known something would happen hence bag packing last week. Mrs JB, don't be envious of twins just yet you might get what you wiash for next time . Anneme DH getting on brill with driving - he is gutted he didn't start earlier bearing in mind our latest news, thanks for your support. Scooter the barn is back in the will deal with that later now but it is moving along albeit slowly. LBL
yes I have a suitcase although I may be in for 10 weeks so feel justified. Babes also have theier own bag as well but by the time you have nappies and cotton wool in the bag is full, cheers for your support. LG&T I keep looking at your twins piccy as it cheers me up to see them looking so full of beans. Hopefully I will get past the 29 week mark but hey who knows. AM hopefully they will be in there for a bit longer everything crossed - especially my legs. 12YG me too that's why I had a homebirth first time round but needs must and all that.

I think the shower sounds great but will probably have to count myself out as it would mean DH having to buy pressies wrap and post hmm can't see it myself. Unless anyone has on their request list nice items from a hospital gift shop, .

I will try keep you updated or DH might have to under my strict instructions not to read previous posts IYSWIM.

Enjoy the remainder of your pregnancies, I am now off to drop DD at nursery - trying to keep everythng as normal as possible for her, and pop into work to clear my desk then it is off to the hospital. Whooppee!

Feel quite to be leaving you guys as well even though not as avid a poster as some of you - you know who you are. Love CM xx

Juicylucytoo · 02/03/2007 09:00

Good luck with everything Charley Mouse. Got everything crossed that you still have weeks and weeks of pregnancy left until you give birth. Hope hospital is not too tedious.

SKYTVADDICT · 02/03/2007 10:09

Good luck charleymouse - will be thinking of you x

Mrsjaffabiffa · 02/03/2007 10:29

God charleymouse, will be thinking of you lots. Please come back some time and let us know how things are. I really really hope things go well for all of you. xxx

Annemme, I have to agree with Lupins. If it's been 14 nights of wet beds, as sad as it is he has regressed. It could be a factor of things (how old is he?). I think the back to night time nappies would be the answer. However, try not to make a big deal of going back to them, just put one on, and explain that he can still use the toilet if he want's to as the nappy can come off if he needs to go. If he doesn't come back out of them himself like Lupins dd, then you should leave it a month before trying to get him out of them again. He needs to feel secure and that you are not anxious before he will stop bed wetting. Good Luck, I don't envy the sleepless nights at the moment.

cinnamontam · 02/03/2007 10:33

Thinking of you CM

Maybe we could start a separate thread so your DH can print it out and bring it in to you??
