Esmes I agree, I've had several conversations with my HR, and DH has done the same. My understanding is that you could take annual leave while DH is on SPL. Technically you are back at work at that stage. You can take leave at the same time, so there isn't a requirement for one of you to be working.

EsmesBees · 25/01/2017 17:38

Thanks MrsJW. That makes sense. I've got a meeting with HR on Friday to go through the process. I'm going to be a bit cheeky and ask to go back full time while DH and then drop back down to 0.8 once he goes back.

MrsJW15 · 25/01/2017 17:38

Also Esme interested in your experience with the bump support band. I'm considering getting something as the bump does feel heavy, and I think it might be good for our holiday in a couple of weeks where we will be walking around a lot.

1004Rise · 25/01/2017 17:54

Midwifes are wonderful, went for my 24 week appointment, explained my irrationality and the first thing she said was jump on the bed and we'll listen to the heartbeat. She then let me listen for ages (like 5 minutes at least) which made me feel much better. She also said that if it happens again and I get stuck worrying about it, even if logically I know it's fine then I should still call the unit because it's better that I talk to someone than getting myself all worked up.

Only after we'd talked through all that did she then take my blood pressure because she wanted a decent reading Smile

Feel much better now, cup of tea and chocolate biscuit well deserved!

PeachIcedT · 25/01/2017 18:09

Glad to hear your positive experience 1004rise and a good strategy to get a more accurate BP measurement!

FoxMulder · 25/01/2017 18:09

Glad the MW could put your mind at rest rise

Rabbitykins55 · 25/01/2017 18:19

It must be the time for movement anxiety because I've had it too! I had slightly less yesterday than normal but had some. It feels more like bubbles than kicks today and yesterday so I think it's being a rascal and hiding behind the placenta, mine is anterior. Got my 25 week appointment this week so that's good.

McBaby · 25/01/2017 18:40

Had my 25 week appointment with a consultant today he was so lovely. He has agreed to a 38 induction due to my spd pain and my history of fast labour (I am freaking out at having an unassisted homebirth with my two dds around)!

Fizz190 · 25/01/2017 18:50

Hi all,

A very belated thanks from the last thread for the tips on slings/buggies etc.

I'm really reassured to hear some of you have managed well with a sling so I'm going to give that a go! We're also looking at the Silver Cross Reflex as a reasonably priced buggy that will last a few years and has a newborn add on. Going to John Lewis tomorrow to have a look and a play with it before buying.

Hope everyone's doing ok! I'm exhausted at the mo with hip/pelvis pain (think it's the dreaded SPD but haven't had it checked out yet), rib pain, and Junior getting himself into all sorts of awkward and uncomfortable positions! Oh the joys!

Fizz x

Fizz190 · 25/01/2017 18:53

Ps. Have added myself to the spreadsheet - it's so lovely to read through all the chatter from mums going through the same things as me - glad I found this board! Smile

FoxMulder · 25/01/2017 19:11

If anyone's looking for a stretchy wrap these are nice and good offer: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B014FH58E6/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1485371430&sr=8-1&keywords=hana%2Bbaby%2Bwrap&th=1&psc=1&tag=mumsnetforum-21

It's my first baby purchase!

Fizz190 · 25/01/2017 19:15

Thanks fox that's been added to the list!

lucieloos · 25/01/2017 19:19

Does anyone know if it's ok to fly at 32 weeks? I know the airline (easyjet) will allow it up to 36 weeks but is it safe etc? It would only be a short 2 hour flight each way.

CinnamonTwist · 25/01/2017 19:37

Anyone got an opinion on the we made me (wmm) wrap/ carrier? If you enter their 'your baby club' competition they send you a 25% off voucher as well... trying to decide if that's a good one to go for or not now!

Rustler74 · 25/01/2017 19:42

Totally new and random subject, ok not entirely random.
I've been having some braxton Hicks contractions yesterday and today. Phoned midwife team, currently still Watford, and after serious difficulties getting through in the first place, I spoke to a lovely lady, who told me I had to take it easy Shock never been told that before!
It's very common and can cause serious discomfort but different for everyone.
Also phoned GP as 3rd time thrush might mean more like internal infection, but it does not seem to be the case when I was examined later on.
Anyone else if you're not afraid to share?

MissMooMoo · 25/01/2017 20:05

rustler
I have a UTI and had to have an internal last sunday to make sure the bleeding I was having was from the UTI and not my vagina.
The amount of discharge that came out on the speculam was insane. I really have no itching and don't notice it at all! Doctor said it could be from the UTI.

ginandcake · 25/01/2017 20:07

Hi ladies, I was on the first couple of threads, but life got quite busy and could not keep up with you chatty lot! Have had a quick catch up on this thread and will add my name to the spread sheet (if I can work our how!)

This pregnancy (number 3) is definitely the hardest yet with SPD, sciatica, work stress and house renovations, which is why I've come back to you ladies for some much needed support and chat!

Lucie I flew at 32 weeks last time with no problems, just needed a note from my GP saying that it was all OK.

McBaby · 25/01/2017 20:08

Rustler Brixton hicks can be made worse by doing too much you usually find when you rest they stop is that what she meant? They can also be caused by dehydration so make sure to drink lots of water.

savagehk · 25/01/2017 20:32

cinnamon never heard of them but a quick rummage through a sling group I'm on leaves me with very few mentions. That's normally a bad sign.

teainbed · 25/01/2017 20:45

I get loads of Braxton Hicks now too! Much worse when I'm rushing around. Grin

Rustler74 · 25/01/2017 21:10

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm indeed having a swab examined for UTI. I'm so lucky with my GP surgery, though, who slotted me in last minute and GP talked through BH with me as well. Ok I may well see a different GP every time, but they're all nice and friendly doctors and I never get the feeling they're rushing me.
I'll be doing it easier, or try to. My comment was quite ironic as I'm always rushing everywhere really!
Also I find it incredibly stressful to drive at the moment!

Rustler74 · 25/01/2017 21:14

Cinnamontwist I wouldn't buy a sling or carrier that I haven't tried out first, voucher or not. I'm planning to go to a sling in harpenden with a friend of mine together, so we will have a try out there.

jennymac31 · 25/01/2017 22:42

Foxmulder - am not planning on taking SPL so intend to have 10 months off in all (1 month annual leave and 9 months mat leave). Dh has booked 2 weeks off in early June and is hoping that baby boy arrives on due date of 18 may so he can effectively have a month off.

Teaspoon74 · 25/01/2017 22:55

100 glad the MW could reassure!

MrsJW lots of walking?!? Blimey. I can barely waddle these days. Good luck!

Estes I believe MrsJW is right. Certainly, we're planning for me to return to work but be on A/L during part of OHs SPL. And our HRs are fine with that. The crossover issue is to do with the statutory pay bit, I think. I guess companies get some form of reimbursement from Gov?

RasperryInAMelon · 26/01/2017 04:24

So pleased to have been woken up by madam... 😳😴 especially when I have to get up in an hour for work...

Nursery is coming together now! Carpet went down yesterday and we're planning to do the furniture this weekend which will be fun ☺

I can't believe how big I'm getting and seeing some of my friends who are due around the same time we're all actually looking pregnant now.
