irrational overtired hormonal rant

I just opened a pack of monster munch for a snack, AND THERE ARE ONLY 2 CRISPS INSIDE! I'm so angry 😂 Who does that to a pregnant person? Monster munch owners have some nerve!!!

RasperryInAMelon · 19/01/2017 18:42

Who does that to anyone!?...

Brightsmoke · 19/01/2017 18:58

Rasperry, exactly, totally unacceptable! I've ordered DH to bring fish and chips home so I've cheered up Grin

WishIWasSleeping · 19/01/2017 19:09

Bright - I had fish and chips for lunch..
bad bad bad... Grin

FoxMulder · 19/01/2017 19:14

Esme he's nearly 3. He doesn't necessarily sleep until 8 but he will climb into my bed and we can cuddle until I can drag myself up.

1004 I also feared the sleepless nights but some crazy poth-birth high keeps you going. Plus, DS was quick to go back to sleep in the night so we weren't awake pacing around or anything.

I'm a fan of muslins even though DS wasn't sicky. Good for a multitude of purposes! Still use them as bibs.

WishIWasSleeping · 19/01/2017 19:16

We also never used muslins, my SIL uses them for her children and her 2yo still drags his round with him... along with his dummy... not a fan when they arnt needed.
Saying that, I used one of my daughters rabbit soft toy gifts as a comfort teddy and she uses it in the day time for naps, and it really helped with the trauma of nursery... it looks a bit cuter than a fabric square in my opinion... not sure what we'll do if this one is a boy!
In relation to get ups, I never used to be able to function properly without 8hrs... now with pregnancy, work, and a 1yr old I count myself lucky if I get 5hrs in a row! - you just manage. You have to. Hopefully most of you will have parents close by or partners that can help out! My hubby works away during the week, but Ive told him if he doesn't get a job closer to home by the time the next baby arrives I'm moving in with my mum (abroad!) Grin

Barnes79 · 19/01/2017 19:20

Badger - im not sure he did Sad He didn't stay on my knee much longer but I'm not sure if it was the kick, the fact I shoved my hand between him and the belly so I could feel it, or that I'd stopped playing...

I also did the Aldi run on the way home - sleep suits and body suits in two sizes, hooded towels, muslins, socks, two teething toys (they match my nursery theme - jungle/safari), 4 blankets and a big box of wipes. My mum already bought me a pack of the first two size nappies this morning Smile

1004Rise · 19/01/2017 19:34

Bright that's just cruel!! You have put the notion of fish & chips in my head now though!!

RasperryInAMelon · 19/01/2017 19:54

So we both did an Aldi run today... just over £50...

Went totally out of my way to go to Aldi, as there isn't one nearby. Good stuff there, got the towel, reusable nappies, job lot wet wipes, spare TT bottles, muslins, socks and soothers - made the most of the trip! Also, despite barking on about getting a second hand pushchair, that britax one was too good a deal to pass up so I bought (the last one in my area) until I can make my mind up! All in all that was a trip of over 2 hours, tired now.

Gurtie28 · 19/01/2017 21:01

Ladies I have the pram....it's amazing, highly recommend it. Fantastic quality, not too low as I have found with some I've tried, sturdy yet easy to manover, I couldn't be happier! Would have paid the £500 for it - so to get it for £199 ShockGrin only thought is that it may be a bit big for the those of you that use the London tube on a daily basis. I would compare the size to between the wayfarer and pioneer. Link here for those that are interested www.argos.co.uk/product/6256717

PeachIcedT · 19/01/2017 21:19

That's great Gurtie! Gives me more confidence to open the box! Which colour did you go for? Really seems like an incredible bargain. I'm hoping it folds down without too much stress.

Gurtie28 · 19/01/2017 21:31

peach I have gone for the grey, but has a nice silver shine to it - think all the colours looked good. The wheels come on and off so easily, we have a small car so this will help no end getting in in the boot! Took me 2mins to get it out the box and set up in my own Smile picture attached with the carry cot on

Oh no I was literally next to an Aldi today and didn't go in 😔 looks like you have some great bargains between you all!
The Britax pushchair is an super bargain, it's not a million miles from the Vista shape wise so I'm sure your both going to love it.
I'm team muslin as I had a refluxy baby, think I finally stopped using them with every milk feed at about 17 months 😂 I love the Aden and anais ones, I have them in giant and normal sizes. Muslins will make a great blanket/sunshade for our summer babies so I don't think any of you will find them a total waste. I have at least 20 and need to get rid of the really stained and ripped ones and then I can have some nice news ones for this baby!
My FIL has started decorating what will be the nursery for us, so kind of him and making it seem so real that in a few months time we will be a family of 4 😍

PeachIcedT · 19/01/2017 21:44

Looks great all set up! I also bought they grey (admittedly my only option) - starting to fill out my spare room with all this baby stuff now.

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 19/01/2017 22:06

Another Thursday night Aldi shopper here! I wonder if the staff see a huge difference in customers for the various special events - there were a few of us first timers wandering round asking where we had found this and that. Quite the little community! So well done bargain queens even though Gurtie and Peach have probably outdone us with the pram!

Does anyone know if those TT bottles are any use for the odd bottle of expressed milk when breastfeeding?

Badger so sorry about your job, you have a lovely attitude to it though, not sure I could be so philosophical, though I agree with others you have skills and experience that are in high demand.

I've developed horrid acid throat in last couple of days, had to do a presentation to a Lord at work today (can't say that happens too often) and was afraid I was going to belch right in his face. Managed to save it for DP tonight Blush

I used to need a decent 8 hours sleep every night. Then I had DD and got used to feeding her every few hours, so the first night I had 4 hours in a row it felt amazing. Just now she sleeps 8-8 so I'm making the most of these lazy starts, then I'll have to get her up earlier for nursery by the time number 2 starts sleeping through reliably anyway. Pre-baby me would never believe what I can actually function on Wink

savagehk · 19/01/2017 22:50

dreamofhungarianlanterns they'll probably be fine. My boy wasn't too fussed about the type of bottle when we first gave him expressed milk (although he'd much rather have it straight from me) and then we got out of the habit of giving him a bottle and he refused outright from any receptacle other than me by 6m. I think if you're giving bottles regularly (more than one feed a day, or before breastfeeding is properly established) you may want to be more picky about the type of teat, but otherwise it's worth a shot.

stationary I remember thinking (when I first left hubby in charge overnight as I was at a conference - son was 2y3m) FINALLY a full night's sleep for the first time in over 2 years, I can sleep in, I'll feel so REFRESHED....
.....I felt exactly like any other morning when I woke up

Sah1987 · 19/01/2017 23:21

12 hours a day is pretty healthy!! 11 hours at night then an hour or two during the day. That's what my Lg sleeps for until she was 18 months, now she sleeps 7.30-6.30 every day at 4 years old.
My friends are the same with their kids. Xx

WishIWasSleeping · 20/01/2017 01:13

I know a few of you mentioned the perfect prep machine, I've just seen it half price at Asda whilst doing my online shop. Smile

lullaby23 · 20/01/2017 02:20

Ooh jealous of the Aldi bargains. Although they have built one in town since I've been living overseas so I can see lots of trips in my figure when we come back!

Muslins were invaluable here DS was a happy chucker (sick a lot but put on weight and wasn't uncomfortable) so we got through several a day until he was on solids. But agree you may not use them at all if your DC isn't prone to vomming. I had a few packs of plain white ones from Mothercare and some nice patterned ones from Jojo. Want to find some slightly girlier ones for this baby! Oh and still use the giant Aden + Anais ones as light blankets or pram cover when it's sunny.

DS is usually up at 7 but at the moment he's sleeping a bit later and going to bed a bit later. He does 11-11.5 hours at night usually and 2-2.5 hours nap on a good day. This was after being a shit sleeper for a long time though!

lullaby23 · 20/01/2017 02:21

Future but figure 🙄

EsmesBees · 20/01/2017 06:48

stationary I remember the first night I got 4 hours sleep after DD was born. Felt like a new woman. It is amazing what you get used to. She's a great sleeper now so not looking forward to the sleep deprivation again. But I reckon this time I'll know it passes so it won't feel quite so never ending as it did the first time.

Brightsmoke · 20/01/2017 08:20

Sorry Hungarian, but I did laugh at you managing to hold the burp in until you were with DP Grin.

Looks like you all got some fab bargains! DH didn't get in until about 7 last night, so by then all we wanted was dinner and bed, poor guy doing over 14 hour work days currently :( We did get the delivery, nappies are coming in a separate delivery, but we got 2 teething toys yesterday that look pretty good :)

RedBlu · 20/01/2017 08:43

I also did an Aldi trip, not somewhere we have ever been as its not particularly local and it has a bit of a "rough" reputation but we got some good stuff.

Went for the flamingo range (moses basket with stand, bodysuits, sleepsuits, muslin cloths and bath towels). Also got some fitted sheets for the moses basket. Moses basket seems good quality but not sure if the mattress is a bit thin!
