Bra wise, I think lixon got a good non wired one from bravissimo if you need a larger size? I'm wearing underwired bras in bigger sizes, new look sale is ace for cheap bras, and ASOS sell maternity bras do have ordered one to try. I don't want to buy a maternity bra yet as I think I'll grow again. I could be wrong but I think you should stop wearing an underwired bra at some point in the second trimester? Might have made that up!

So hard to find a balance between comfort and support!

Pisghetti · 18/01/2017 10:11

Hi - can I join you here? I'm 9+1 with #3. I have a teenage son and a feral toddler daughter. Due 22nd August.

We had a reassurance scan last weekend and everything was as it should be so I'm just starting to relax a little now. Slight question mark over a second yolk sac - it is either a hidden twin or, more likely, a 'vanishing twin' where one baby hasn't made it which is apparently more common than people know. First midwife appointment tomorrow so I'll mention it there although when I called the midwife on duty after the scan she said they probably won't do anything until the dating scan.

Re bras I'll be moving back into my nursing bras soon. I found hotmilk some of the nicest ones around. A bit more than I normally pay for bras but not bank breaking and they were an investment as I breastfed DD until she self weaned and now about to wear them again. They have lots of hooks to adjust the back size as your ribs open up and a bit of stretch in the cup. I found mothercare just made me look like a beanbag.

Anyone having bloating issues? I know this is number 3 so I'm likely to show earlier but I'm starting out the day looking normal and finishing up looking 6 months gone. Is it acceptable to move into mat wear this early Confused

thenorthernluce · 18/01/2017 10:45

At 11+2 I'm in maternity trousers already, and this is my first. But sweet lord are they comfortable; I can how they're hard to give up post birth!

I've bought a few of my normal bras (padded plunge from M&S) in one band and cup size bigger to accommodate my expanding norks. I've heard H&M brand maternity bras are nice, so I'm going to get a couple of those when I get into the second trimester, as I've also heard its good to avoid wired bras. I'm dreading it, though, as I've only ever worn wired bras and my smallish boobs look a bit sad without wires and padding. Oh well!

I feel like a new person this week, as the exhaustion and nausea have all but disappeared. The only remaining symptom is sore boobs for me now, and occasional flashes of nausea that subside very quickly. Apparently this is pretty common once the 11 week mark is reached, so I'm not panicking too much at the loss of symptoms. 8 days until my dating scan!!

SickRose · 18/01/2017 10:52

So I've been in hospital overnight, just been discharged. Looks like I have HG. Was on iv fluids overnight and am now really swollen! Also took them four attempts to find a vein so my arms and hands are covered in bruises. Feeling very sorry for myself this morning! Not sure what this means for work, already had all of last week off. Now today and half of yesterday. They'll be nice about it but I know they'll rather know in advance so they can organise work loads.

thisismee · 18/01/2017 13:28

Hi everyone! Flowers to the few posters who have had bad news last few days. Thinking of you all.

Sorry I've been awol but finding things tough and was feeling so anxious about it all.

I've had my 12 week scan today and everything looks great and even got my screening results back and all low risk yay! Due date is now 2nd Aug. Smile

WestyNottingham · 18/01/2017 14:18

I've also been awol (and changed my username to something less immediately identifying) but have been lurking anxiously. Sickrose, sorry to hear you're so ill!! Are you feeling better now you're hydrated?
Some really crappy news from people on the last few days, love to you all.
I had my eight week scan yesterday (ivf baby - we get an extra) and all was well. I was so anxious about my fluctuating symptoms but the baby was the exact size it should be and had a fluttering little heart. Other than that it was basically a blob, but so exciting to see it in there!
I'm doing this alone (by choice) and feeling really exhausted and vulnerable. Is anyone else having moments where they wonder what the fuck they've done?! I would actually cry with relief if someone was to come and look after me for a few hours!

Kirstyinnorway · 18/01/2017 16:24

I'm sorry you're feeling blue WestyNottingham. I'm not doing it alone and frankly I think you're quite amazing. Have you got family or a close friend you can tell and lean on a little bit?

I caved and booked an early scan today. We're back in England on the 27th January for a week, and I couldn't resist. I'll be 9+5 on scan day.

We can't afford both a 9-week and a 12-week scan, but I feel that the viability scan will make me feel so much better that it's going to be more useful to us. We'll get our state paid-for scan at 18 weeks of course at home.

It will come the day before we plan to announce to DH's siblings and will mean we can skip telling them at all if things are not progressing smoothly.

Does anyone fancy sharing a scan with approximately the same dating with me please? I'd love to know what to expect to see at 9+5 (I've googled but I know that they'll only show the best ones on there and don't want to be disappointed).

MrsG280516 · 18/01/2017 16:57

That's exciting Kirsty I'm glad you can get one when you're in the UK. At almost 10 weeks you should be able to see something very "baby-like" although not quite as developed as a 12 week scan.

Kirstyinnorway · 18/01/2017 17:04

Oh gosh me too, MrsG. Thank you! I'm feeling better already. Only 9 days to go! Grin It will be nice to tell the siblings if we have a wee picture to show them (caveat of everything being well of course).

firsttimer12345 · 18/01/2017 17:16

Kirsty this was ours at 9+1 so your's should be even more baby like!

August 2017: the one in which we'll get midwife appointment
Kirstyinnorway · 18/01/2017 17:21

Aw, firsttimer, that is lovely! Thanks. How magic are scans?!

choccyTeapot · 18/01/2017 18:10

Also been away awhile and very sorry to see about all those who've had to drop out.

Had my dating scan this afternoon and after watching the little wriggler on the screen rather than just a blob, I feel like a lot of my anxiety has lifted and have switched into proper bouncy excitement for the first time Grin Grin

Particularly coupled with receding nausea. Hurrah.

Blobby is measuring 3 days ahead of when my ovulation dictates so think it might be a chunker already and my revised due date is now a bit off (4th August)

hrfvenia · 18/01/2017 19:46

I'm trying to forget I'm pregnant at the moment because we have our scan on Friday and I'm just convinced they're going to say 'sorry but..'

I've cried on far too many people already!!

What are the odds/chances of this happening do we think? I'm terrified in all honesty.

OkyDoke · 18/01/2017 21:39

Finally had my booking in today at 8+2! Next step 12 week scan. Anyone else going to need anti d injections?

Kirstyinnorway · 19/01/2017 07:06

choccy that's great you had a scan and are feeling positive!

hvf I'm also feeling very anxious but there is one website thats making me feel a little better - you pop in your details and it'll give you a day-by-day mc risk score. I can see how it would make some people more nervous, but being in possession of all the facts makes me feel happier. Especially since my risk is only about 2.2% at the moment, which helps on my wobbly days!

That's great you got booked in oky, seems a long time to wait until the scan now, doesn't it?! Grin

I was looking for information this morning on pregnancy weight gain. I liked this one Smile just thought I'd share in case it's useful to anyone else!

JustTrixie · 19/01/2017 11:21

I'm so sorry those who have had bad news Flowers I hope you are back on the antenatal threads soon.

Kirsty, I'm not very good at uploading pics but we had a private scan at the weekend at 10 weeks and it was amazing, baby actually looks like a baby and was wriggling and waving away, was so lovely to see.

I have just under 2 weeks to wait for my 12 week scan and am booked in to see a Consultant too on account of being slightly high risk due to IVF.
Had my booking in appointment this week which was really good but apparently they have moved to paperless and I have to access an app for my notes. Only problem is the app doesn't seem to exist when I search for it Confused

I'm still absolutely fine in my normal bras and trousers at the moment but I am dying to start shopping for maternity clothes. May have a while to wait as apparently my DM was in her normal clothes with me until 4/5 months.

Good luck for tomorrow hrf. It is terrifying but it is much more likely that all is ok.

firsttimer12345 · 19/01/2017 13:49

Just found these at John Lewis - really good range of sizes and £30 for 2!

www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-maternity-bra-pack-of-2-black-white/p1253228

Kirstyinnorway · 19/01/2017 14:11

Great to have all these maternity bra suggestions (would be nice if they'd used an actual preggo lady with massive sore norks for the JL one Grin )

I had a failure of an attempt at a booking in appointment today - because I'm 8+4 (apparently early for checking in by Norwegian standards), the GP thought I wanted a termination(!) and when I explained no - I was just wanting to check in, she promptly told me to come back in 4 weeks!

I do love living here, but the attitude towards pregnancy is so "DIY" that it takes my (very British) breath away! I've had no info, no checks, not even one pamphlet!

Does make me wonder how very young/naive/unexpectedly pregnant women get on... I've been planning this pregnancy, researching what I should/can't eat, taking my vitamins, etc. but would a young Norwegian girl who found out she was upduffed know to do the same?

We have a very high mc rate here apparently. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Waterfeature · 19/01/2017 17:59

So sorry about those who have had sad news recently.

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and just wishing away the time until I have the dating scan. My bras and trousers are tight but I don't want to jinx things by getting out the maternity clothes (daft I know). Also, I don't want to tell people until I know we're out of the woods.

I don't remember feeling quite this feeble before. I think once you've had a mc it somewhat takes the excitement out of the first trimester.

Timefor2 · 19/01/2017 19:35

In some ways I'm excited to get the maternity clothes back out after my scan and embrace the belly I never properly lost after DD1, but equally I remember how sick I was of the same maternity clothes all the time last pregnancy so think I should hold off longer. I did buy a nice roomy dress this week to hide the bloat and also allow me to wear that for a few months longer - as well as hopefully being flattering post-pregnancy.

One tip after not doing it last time - I had a four/five month pregnant bump for many months after DD1 was born. In my pregnancy excitement everything I bought at that stage of pregnancy was fitted to show off my growing bump. This time I want to remember at that stage to use the opportunity to try and find clothes that flatter a very non-flat tummy rather than trying to somehow do it with a small baby.

On a really flippant one, as we get close to the second trimester is everyone planning to completely abstain from alcohol or relax a fraction into the second and third trimester? With DD1 1-2 units once or twice a week was deemed no issue at all but now I see the advice has changed to no alcohol throughout. Don't get me wrong, I'm not planning to drink my 1-2 units twice a week every week! But I did enjoy the odd glass of wine every few weeks in my first pregnancy and am tempted to allow myself (if I fancy it - I don't at the moment) this time too. There doesn't seem to be any evidence against very low levels of drinking, other than in the first trimester.

Lixon · 19/01/2017 19:46

Sorry to those there are continued struggles for, it's really been a dark few weeks.

Kirsty I am so happy that you'll get an early scan, I really think it will do a great deal to put your mind at ease and would choose 9w in your circumstances too I think.

Congratulations to all those with lovely healthy 12 week scans, must be such a relief.

I'm currently in the nervously awaiting camp with hrfvrnia and waterfeature - agree completely that previous mcs add an overarching layer of dread, everyone I've told is more excited than I am because I still don't really believe it's going to be ok. I'm hoping the 12 week scan will help though and looking forward to telling work colleagues, I'm so bad with secrets.

sickrose I hope you're feeling better soon, please don't stress yourself about work!

westy glad all is going well and echo others' comments on your strength! Make sure you lean on friends and family enough!

WestyNottingham · 19/01/2017 20:01

Thanks ladies! I'm going to cancel some work, I think. I'm doing 50+ hours a week and it's just killing me. I'm so shattered! And I'm moving house in a couple of weeks, which is stressing me out. I haven't even booked a mover! I've had really bad insomnia and I keep getting up feeling worse than when I went to bed. I'm 8w2d... when is my energy likely to return?! Please be soon? I've got too much on to be feeling this shit!
But I do feel better emotionally today. Smile I've found a neighbour's kid who can walk my dog after school, and it is almost the weekend so I can go spend time with my closest friends rather than just sleeping, failing to sleep, and working!

thenorthernluce · 19/01/2017 20:04

Timefor2, I'm planning on having the odd glass of wine or something in second and third trimesters, if I fancy it. So a nice glass of red with dinner once a week? Yup, that'll do me nicely. All my mum friends have done this so I feel confident doing the same. It's my choice and I feel lucky to have the freedom to make that choice; if someone else makes the choice to continue with abstinence, that's also cool. Everyone is different, and I embrace that diversity.

Fieldandgrasses · 19/01/2017 22:44

I shall do the same, northernluce. Expecting Better is a good book to read on this subject.

Waterfeature · 19/01/2017 22:54

Yes, I remember obediently obeying that "1 or 2 units, once or twice a week" rule. I did indeed have 4 units a week! I don't think it did her any harm...

This time I might well have a weekly single unit but I can't imagine having more than that.
