Hi all - looks like I'm first here! I'm pregnant with #1, due 2 September. Got my BFP a couple of days ago and already it feels like a rollercoaster ride - I'm utterly thrilled, anxious about the possibility of a loss and terrified at the thought of the birth! But hey, bring it on! Smile

Roo I have the super sense of smell too. DP breathed on me earlier (not on purpose!) and it made me retch! Seems to have triggered my nausea for the night which I don't normally get Confused

Almondbiscotti · 17/01/2017 22:50

Hi Turtletum i am 5 weeks tomorrow so due at same time. I have had same symptoms. Its also first for me and i am 31. I agree with the highs and lows. I feel like i am get cocky with assuming it will all go to plan. Then i forget that i am pregnant continue as normal and then get all excited about it again!

Are any of you planning to find out the gender?

Katurah · 17/01/2017 23:05

I'll say help and hope I can stay! I'm 6+1 and already have DS1 who will be 22 months when this new one arrives - I'm due 10th September ish. I had a MMC last September so holding my breath for now. Had an early scan on Friday and saw a sac and yolk and beginnings of a foetal pole so dearly hoping for a heartbeat when we are next scanned on 26th Jan. Clear blue finally turned to 3+ weeks today so I'm hopeful things are happening!

I'm also off coffee and am nauseous most of the time. Can't brush my teeth without gagging horribly, my skin is greasy and my lower back is sore - my boobs don't hurt at all though!

You can take piriton while pregnant, I took it all through my last pregnancy for hayfever advised by my midwife and consultant.

Look forward to chatting to you all!

Hello everyone, I just got my BFP on Monday at 3weeks 2 days so it's incredibly early days for me. My due date according to the online calculators is 30th September.

I have one little girl who is 2 years old (28 months to be exact). I have had a couple of losses since her so this baby is very, very wanted and I am just keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well this time.

I'm part of the ante-natal group from mumsnet for babies born in the month my daughter was born and it's been such a great group to be part of. We moved across to Facebook which has worked really well.

Pinkandwhite · 18/01/2017 01:47

Almondbiscotti - I am 95% certain I'll find out the gender of my baby. I did last time. I think I could wait but I don't think my husband can.

Pinkandwhite · 18/01/2017 01:50

TotTickle, you asked about flying in your first trimester. I am also going to have to do this. I'll be flying long haul at around 8 weeks. I can't find a single piece of evidence to suggest there could be a problem with doing that. I know I'll be worried when it comes to it though.

Paisly · 18/01/2017 06:18

Hello. Im due 5th spetember ish. I also am flying, at about 14 weeks though. I think tje advice is just to drink lots and walk around as much as possible! I will worry though! So, so far had a heightened sense of smell but have only felt sick once really! So excited for september and the months before! I dont know when to tell my family. Whether to wait 12 weeks or not.

Calmisthemantra · 18/01/2017 06:20

Anyone else having trouble sleeping? I'm just 4 weeks but despite being very tired I seem to doze all night with no actual proper sleep. We are away at the moment (center parcsSmile) so the strange environment may be to blame.
Struggling with the lack of copious coffee too.

Fluffywallow · 18/01/2017 06:34

With my DD I flew at 6 and 9 weeks and spoke to the doctor just to check it was ok and it was fine, as others have said i think the advice is just to drink lots of water and move around lots. I found my ankles were swollen from flying even early on so got some dvt socks and they were great (can get at the airport). I also found sitting in an aisle seat best so I could get to the toilet easily Confused oh and make sure you have insurance.

My sense of smell is through the roof. Swear I didn't have this last time. Those of you who already have DCs do you find yourself constantly comparing this pregnancy to previous ones??

Calmisthemantra · 18/01/2017 07:48

Fluffy I have the opposite. My sense of smell seems fine so far but it's still very early days for me. With my past 2 everything STUNK

Paisly · 18/01/2017 07:54

Calmisthemantra im the opposite. Ive never slept so well! Maybe when you get your own bed back!

sherbertlemon17 · 18/01/2017 08:15

TotTickle and Katurah I'm not really sure what we're letting ourselves in for Grin 21 month and 22 month siblings!! It's going to be hard work but I'm excited to see them grow up together and hopefully be close. I have a little girl TotTickle.

Almondbiscotti I think we're going to find out the gender. Didn't with DD, so then will have had best of both worlds, plus then we'll know if we need to buy anything different or not clothes wise... although we already have lots of newborn neutral stuff from before.

Pinkandwhite 2nd the Facebook group! I'm on one from when I had DD and we still chat and share photos occasionally now. It's so lovely seeing all the little baby's we chatted about during pregnancy growing up!

sherbertlemon17 · 18/01/2017 08:19

How's everyone feeling today?

Fluffywallow · 18/01/2017 08:21

Almond I think we'll find out the gender, same as sherbert we didn't find out last time so want to see what it's like to find out this time! Plus it'll mean we can clear out or re-organise my DDs baby stuff depending on the gender.

TriJo · 18/01/2017 08:31

I have the particularly strong sense of smell for certain things - people vaping sweet liquids, cabbage, BO etc.

We do plan on finding out the gender - we have all our baby boy things already from DS so don't need to buy anything else if we have a boy.

HellsBellsK · 18/01/2017 08:53

Calm Im having some nights of great sleeps then others Im awake all night. Im so tired during the day so don't understand why I can't stay asleep. Last night I work at 2.30 and I have been awake ever since its going to be a long day.
Have a scan today so I'm crossing everything at the moment and thinking positive that everything will be okay.
Also flying in a couple of weeks - mentioned it to the doctor she said no problem at all - like above drink water and walk around.

Almondbiscotti · 18/01/2017 09:16

Pinkandwhite - i am the same DH cant not know but i would love to keep it a surprise. We have compromised by agreeing to wait 3 weeks after 20 weeks scan when it will be his bday so we can do big reveal then!

I can see the logic in not finding out with 1st one as that way you have plenty of neutral baby wear!

Almondbiscotti · 18/01/2017 09:19

Sherbert - not able to finish my breakfast - so sensing i need to start eating small but often. Has anyone found that - feeling fuller quicker probably from the bloating. Didnt wake up with mega headaches like yesterday thank goodness!

Hope you are all well! Grin

EssentialHummus · 18/01/2017 09:26

I also have nights when I'm up and awake at 2am, and others when I sleep through brilliantly hells. Absolutely no logic to it.

totallyLosingIt · 18/01/2017 09:37

I tend to fall asleep when I put DD to bed (7/8ish), I then usually wake between 11pm-1am and am awake for an hour before I fall asleep again! Just as well I don't have a social life atm!

We didn't find out the gender with DD, even though I really wanted to. And in the end I was glad that we didn't. It was lovely to speculate and wonder. And I like newborns in neutral clothing anyway. Smile
If you're in two minds, then I would recommend holding out. But I can completely understand why people want to find out the gender too!

I am not nauseous, but am struggling a little with food. Sugar free Vimto concentrate + sparkling water is going down very well though! As is a sugary decaf coffee now I have weaned myself off the real stuff.

PerpetualStudent · 18/01/2017 10:03

Morning all, this thread moves so fast! Exciting to have more people joining though :)
I'm also on a FB group from my 1st antenatal thread, it was a lifesaver in the early days.

I'm rubbish at remembering who said what, but RE what's great about babies - I remember finding it tough until DS's 1st smile at around 6 weeks, and from then on every little developmemt was just so magical. Like others have said the baby stage(s) rush by so quickly! So the challenges and joys are intense but fleeting!

I'm having 2 instant full caf coffees a day at the min, (which I think is the top of the NHS limit of 200mg a day?) but that is cutting down for me as I'm a real coffee addict! I remember I did go off it last time once morning sickness kicked in, so just savouring it while I can!

WhiteLily86 · 18/01/2017 10:04

I was wrong - the vitamins I am using are seven seas pregnancy £5 for a month supply. They have added ginger in them, maybe that is why I am not feeling sick.

I am also addicted to this stuff, more just because it is nice. Can add it to hot or cold water, cocktails 😩, or for cooking!

Expensive but v good 😊

Oh, that looks nice WhiteLily! I've found a recipe for orange and cardamon cordial which I'm toying with attempting to make today (toddler allowing!)

oliversmummy26 · 18/01/2017 10:42

Good morning all, for those suffering with constant nausea (I have had this all day every day for a week now, after moaning that I didn't have any at all a week ago!) trying chewing gum today which seems to be working. I have found that when I eat I feel fine but as soon as I stop the nausea starts again - it's exhausting, and far worse than when I had my DS.

Also I had terrible constipation with my failed pregnancy last year and doctor recommended lactulose which did the trick nicely. Still have some and have been having a little every day which is keeping me regular Smile

Glenn I have loved every stage of having a child, loved just sitting with a sleeping baby when DS was really tiny and I adored breastfeeding, cried when I had to stop it was so lovely. All the firsts are amazing and as someone else has said you will never have felt so proud. DS is 4.5 now and at school and is a proper little boy. We've been talking about him maybe having a baby brother or sister and he's so excited, he wants to help feed the baby and cuddle it and play with it, he's going to be such an amazing big brother and I can't wait to see it Smile

We will definitely find out the sex, I'd like to wait and have a surprise but I know I won't be able to and I want to be able to sort through all DS's bits I still have and either reuse or get new, love to be organised! I don't think we'll tell anyone else though, so it's a surprise for them

n0ne · 18/01/2017 10:44

Does anyone fancy doing a spot of hand-holding? Got a dating scan today because I don't know how far along I am. Last time at this stage they discovered the pg wasn't viable anymore, and DH was with me. Today I have to go on my own as it's in the middle of the day (13:20 if you're in the UK). No idea what the outcome will be Sad
