Hi all - looks like I'm first here! I'm pregnant with #1, due 2 September. Got my BFP a couple of days ago and already it feels like a rollercoaster ride - I'm utterly thrilled, anxious about the possibility of a loss and terrified at the thought of the birth! But hey, bring it on! Smile

glenn that they grow really quickly into amazing little toddlers that make you laugh a lot. Actually once you get out of the ridiculous first 12 weeks it gets so much better.

Nb I'm not really a baby person, can you tell?lol!!!!!!

Shwighty1 · 17/01/2017 18:53

cali nailed it!!!!!

MouseLove · 17/01/2017 18:56

I'm on the nespresso decaf at home. Tastes so gooooood. I think they recommend limited caffeine in the first trimester because it increases risk of miscarriage. I've had regular coffee and tea, but just limited to 1 a day.

I've attached what my app says.

I was offered the flu jab today with the nurse. She said I should have it as I was pregnant. And then I thought OH YES I AM!

MouseLove · 17/01/2017 18:56

Duh. Baby brain. Lol

Glenn i second them turning into wonderful little people who make you laugh out loud and they show such affection and love it's adorable. I always thought once a baby wasn't a 'baby' anymore it wouldn't be as amazing but it really is. Every phase has its lovely bits and they just keep on coming!

calimommy · 17/01/2017 19:09

Yes well that just reiterates what I said really: 'some studies' is just a loose association and not a direct link and the 'unknown' outcomes for higher consumption is due to the ethics issue. Then the second half of the article is really just general information for everyone, pregnant or not 😝

I think I'm safe in assuming that everyone participating on this board wishes for the best outcome for their baby, certainly not wishing deliberate harm. I was simply responding to the few comments I had seen about people being slightly panicked about decaf coffee at work or such like, when in reality inconsistent or occasional consumption is unlikely to have any effect. So everyone can relax a bit!

totallyLosingIt · 17/01/2017 19:15

Those suffering from headaches may in part be getting them from caffeine withdrawal. They will hopefully only last a few days and then clear up. I was only on one coffee a day, but disliked the fact that I relied on that one coffee per day else I would get a headache, so I had planned to wean myself off it anyway.

TotTickle · 17/01/2017 19:24

How do people feel about long haul flights this early? I've got a flight to America via Amsterdam when I'm 9 weeks. Going to ring my gp for advice but thought I'd ask the advice of you lovely ladies first.
Still no symptoms here!

ZylaB · 17/01/2017 19:26

I'm going to sneak in and hang around quietly for a little while. Am 4+2 but really nervous after a mc last May.
Have booked myself in with hospital and have the lovely termed 'viability scan' on Feb 1st so everything crossed for a heartbeat then.
I'm due on 24th Sepptember by my calculations, but won't be allowed to go past 37 weeks so will have a cs booked for then which puts it at around 3/4th September! This does of course assume. I don't get preeclampsia like I did last time. Thoug I know I'm even higher risk because I've had it once, so this could easily be a premature August baby, but we will deal with that if we need to.

This will be much longed for DC number 2, our daughter is 2 next month :)

calimommy · 17/01/2017 19:33

Good luck zylaB x

Also hoping for a good viability scan 👍

WhatwouldRuthdo · 17/01/2017 19:39

Glen I can only second, or third, what the others have said. I have a 3 year old and he makes me smile and often laugh out loud every day. I wasn't a great lover of the first few months either, but love seeing his little personality and sense of humour develop.

Kskifred · 17/01/2017 20:34

Omfg the BLOAT. I'm so uncomfortable!!!

Feel nauseous, so i eat, then after lunchtime feel so sick from all the food, and the bloat starts so i just feel crap. I forgot about the bad bloat with DS! Also constipated so can't even get rid of it Confused

Gingerbreadmam · 17/01/2017 20:47

Thanks popcorn. If i had more symptoms id be jumping for joy but my boobs r completely normal and thats whats scaring me.

I know blood isnt always bad. I bled at 9 wks on both previous pregnancies. One a good outcome at that point and one bad so i guess i jus need to.hang on in till 8 weeks.

reem1 · 17/01/2017 20:50

Can I please join you ladies?
Got my BFP last week, it is still early days as according to my calculations I am 5 weeks with EDD on 20th Sept.
It is my 3rd pregnancy, I already have two boys - 7 & 8 yrs. I'm 38 yrs and can't remember being so exhousted in my last pregnancies! Also very bloated and a bit nauseous. Had a bit of brown spotting for couple of days but I'm putting it down to straining due to constipation ( sorry TMI) - anyway have been eating prunes and that seemed to sort it for now.

turtletum · 17/01/2017 20:53

Hello, can I join? Please be kind as I'm pretty new to all things mumsnet.
I got my BFP yesterday and due around Sept 24th. I'm 33 and it's my first so no clue what to expect. It was our first month ttc so a bit of a surprise and doesn't seem real yet. Nervous about not getting too excited until 12 weeks when risks reduce. Been a mad woman on a rollercoaster these last couple of days. Bursting with the news but not wanting to tell this early. Feeling a bit erratic emotionally, very giddy one minute, a bit teary the next.
Not too many major symptoms yet, had terrible bloating the second week after ovulating, but that has thankfully calmed down. Sore boobs...for at least the last week and a half. Otherwise feel fine, a little hungrier but I'm greedy anyway so can't be sure. Trying not to overthink things. I'm allowing myself a small coffee each day but otherwise eating healthily. Telling people I'm 'eating clean' and doing 'dry January'. No raised eyebrows so far.

flossie80 · 17/01/2017 21:07

Hi all - picking brains! I'm allergic to dogs so when I stay with friends who have one I always take an antihistamine. Going this weekend and am not sure what I can take? My normal one says not to take when pregnant. Anyone been in this situation before? Any ideas?? Thanks!!!

flossie80 · 17/01/2017 21:08

And hello turtle tum!

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 17/01/2017 21:11

Kskifred - so glad you said that - it's exactly how I feel. I've achieved nothing this evening except lying on the sofa and now have transferred to lying in bed. I feel a mix of hungry, sick, bloated and constipated all the time. No desire to do anything despite having three unplanned lessons tomorrow.

sherbertlemon17 · 17/01/2017 21:14

Evening everyone! Wow this thread is so busy! Just spent ages reading back!

Flossie as far as I know, I don't think you can take any sort of antihistamines. Can you say you forgot them and ask them to keep the dog in a different room?

Glenn you've got me thinking about what the best thing about having a baby is... when they're tiny it's all the squishy newborn cuddle and that feeling of not believing that they are yours. As they get older all the firsts are so exciting. First smile, laugh, sitting up, crawling, first word walking... you will never feel so proud in your life!

Definitely worrying tonight about have 2 under 2 too. DD will be 21 months in September too. Rubble buggies are so bloody expensive!!

MouseLove · 17/01/2017 21:20

Ah Cali, lol the reason I had a "oh crap" moment is that our decaf coffee is for the pregnant ladies only. Nobody else drinks it. I don't want the rumour mill running overdrive this early on, I work with young gossips!!

The week I got my BFP I was hammering the nespresso. 😳 (and had a super hot bath)

calimommy · 17/01/2017 21:38

mouselove 👍

This is my first time on MN and I have to say I'm enjoying it so much more than babycenter. I couldn't have any sort of discussion on there without accidentally insulting someone or being misinterpreted. Perhaps it was a cultural issue. At any rate, so far this is nice company! And I'm very far from home now, Californian (in case you couldn't guess😝)

flossie check with your Doc, I don't think it's recommended to take antihistamines unless advised by a doctor.

TotTickle · 17/01/2017 21:52

Sherbet you sound in the same set up as me - my DS will be 21 months in September. Little daunting! I'm super excited though. Smile Boy or girl?

Any thoughts on flying in your first trimester? Confused

Heyitsholly · 17/01/2017 22:07

Tottickle as far as im aware therea no issue untill near the end. The only as they dont want the risk of labour in the air.

Heyitsholly · 17/01/2017 22:08

I flew at the end of trimester 1 last time for 11 hours each way and all was fine

roobois · 17/01/2017 22:19

Anyone got a super sense of smell? It's great sometimes, but my housemate cooked curry tonight and it's almost choking me it smells all over the house. DH is not going to be pleased with me as I've opened all the windows. But today is the first day I haven't been sick and I would really like it to stay that way.
