Hi all - looks like I'm first here! I'm pregnant with #1, due 2 September. Got my BFP a couple of days ago and already it feels like a rollercoaster ride - I'm utterly thrilled, anxious about the possibility of a loss and terrified at the thought of the birth! But hey, bring it on! Smile

Gingerbreadmam- That sounds interesting about the hypnobirthing, I just looked it up online and it looks very good.
It would be nice to meet some local mums as I think it's important to get out once having the baby.. That's so good your bbf will still be on maternity, my sister in law is 9 weeks ATM so I'll have her X

Archip17 · 05/01/2017 13:59

Lauren, I'll also be six weeks on Saturday! I'm thinking about an early scan around nine weeks.

I used to live in Twickenham and had my first baby at Kingston, in the midwife led unit.

I had a really excellent experience there, and highly recommend the hospital and care. Plus, we used to drive through beautiful Richmond Park to go to midwife appointments. Happy memories.

Gingerbreadmam · 05/01/2017 14:41

Last time i was pregnany my nhs trust ran a hypnobirthing class for a fee so worth looking into.

When my pfb was stillborn i hadnt had any antenatal classes and really felt like i would have found hypnobirthing useful and a tens machine so if choose vb i will do both this time.

Londonexhile · 05/01/2017 15:01

Since we're fairly used to TMI now from the TTC threads & now this one...

I have decided my cramps aren't period type, but more related to the horrendous runs I have been suffering for the past 2 days Confused

I've been googling & it seems that it's quite common, anyone else suffering this delightful symptom? All those "pregnancy glow" sayings are clearly rubbish!!

MouseLove · 05/01/2017 15:27

London. 🙋🏻
Although not loads. Just non-urgent stuff. Pahaha. Let's be honest, it's gonna get worse.

HellsBellsK · 05/01/2017 15:41

London Im the same - Kinda like Mouse non urgent but need to go quickly. I read about everyone being constipated but I'm the opposite Shock

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 05/01/2017 15:45

I had awful guts week before last - after Boxing Day (and at my in lawsShock) but put it down to Xmas overindulgence.
But I am still not back to normal so now you mention it I suppose it is pg related.

I made my booking in appt today, 2 weeks time.
Feel a bit flakey today, headache and toddler keeps making me read books and do shit when I just want to curl in a ball and eat my body weight in biscuits.

Anyone considering NCT or hypnobirthing
Here's my tuppence worth.
I loved NCT - the classes themselves were a bit meh and I didn't learn anything I couldn't have read in a book or online.
However the invaluable thing for me was having a ready made local group of friends in exactly the same position - I have lots of friends with kids but they were at difference stages and if I heard them saying 'Oh I remember that...' I could have punched them.
With NCT you have a group of women nearby to get each other through some quite hard and dark times, frankly.
We were a group of 8 couples and picked up a lady at a toddler group and kind of adopted her.
I think it's quite uncommon but at 2 years on all 9 of us still meet up regularly and my best friend who I see 3 times a week was from NCT group.

Hypnobirthing I just got the Marie Mongan book with CD. Read the book and listened to the CD at bedtimes with DH - we both fell asleep quickly but I do think it was helpful.
This book, along with a few others were really helpful for me in preparation for birth and I was fortunate to have a very straight forward 'easy' birth.

Shwighty1 · 05/01/2017 17:10

The hood thing with nct is you can go along to the meet ups and not necessarily do the classes!!

Shwighty1 · 05/01/2017 17:10

*good not hood!!!!!

Londonexhile · 05/01/2017 17:26

I really hope it settles down a bit....not sure I can cope with this for another 8 months!!

goiaba · 05/01/2017 17:46

I'm also having period pain on a daily basis! It's not super intense, but a bit annoying.

Gingerbreadmam · 05/01/2017 18:15

Thats the only real symptom im getting at the moment too gobia so can sympathise. Doesnt seem to have been too bad today tho fortunately.

Gingerbreadmam · 05/01/2017 18:16

Just thinking does anyone know how to do a stats spreadsheet? On previous antenatal boards ive been on theyve had one. If anyone knows how to might be worth having one for the thread?

Nw85 · 05/01/2017 19:09

Anybody else having the most amazing dreams?
Maternity unit near me is all new and was best in the UK in 2015/16 according to the hospitals website.

roobois · 05/01/2017 19:23

Nw85 I've been having crazy dreams, they are so realistic. I've had to ask DH if they have actually happened.

MouseLove · 05/01/2017 19:45

Gingerbread, I could give it a go. I'd need everyone's stats though. X
