lg&t.....Ok OK calm thoughts now, honest.......

Sorry, I'm crap arn't I read your text wrong, thought it said back in Plymouth with N, I never think of Lee as being in Portsmouth, DOH

We'll be here for ranting to whenever you need it. Oh and if you need a drink there is a large box of white at Grannies for you, she is expecting you to collect it at some point so don't be worried about dropping in for it, you don't have to stop, lol

There hasn't been that much talk of KK's but SOH has kept up with the porn chat,

Lupins.....It is hard work, I agree with that statement, I am sick of trying to swap sides at night, I feel like a beached bloody whale trying to turn over, dh is only a 10stone skinny runt with chicken knees, the poor man nearly hits the ceiling as I bounce the bed around.
I am wadling too, I have to remind myself not to, especially by the end of the day.

LO VERY quiet today?????? I'm in for a bad night then.

largeginandtonic · 24/02/2007 16:54

Ooooooh a wine box, how lovely, will pop over and see grannie in the next couple of weeks.

TYG is in Spain isnt she? Hope SOH is ok and have we heard from MKG? Has Charleymouse posted, i read a post from her on the multiples thread. She really has been through it lately but the good news is both twins look ok!

dh making donuts.....we are looking for a KK equivalent....wish me luck I have made profiteroles and eclairs today, am off to stuff them now. Then to stuff myself with them later obviously I weigh a whopping 11 and a half stone now, please god let it slow down now. Had to buy more maternity clothes while away as i was wearing one pair of jeans and washing overnight!

Right am off to attend to my profiteroles and eclairs....

lillaura · 24/02/2007 17:18

its quiet in here today

Frenchsmallfry · 24/02/2007 17:37

Yes, tyg is in Spain, SOH is about, she posted on another thread yesterday, my lurking around spotted her. CharleyMouse did post on here last week or the beggining of this she and babies are well, very much the same as the one she posted on the multiples. She seems so positive, it must be hard to go through the rollercoaster of not knowing or being given incorrect info.

Did N get his sword??????

It's the weekend lilaura, often very quiet over the weekend. The chat will double or even triple come Mon/Tues if tyg is back this week, Coooorrrrrr SOH, TYG and Lg&t,allon together, Keep up if you dare lillaura.

I have to say, we have been quite poor, Only just over the 200mk in a week?

OP posts:
aprilmeadow · 24/02/2007 17:50

Welcome back LG&T!! We have all missed you

Only just over the 200 - that is quite shocking!!

Just sold the hoover on ebay that my dad gave us for xmas - we have a dyson, dont need another. The money we got for it has just paid for the nice new 4 slice toaster we bought just now. We got given a 2 slice one for a wedding present and it was fine until having J, but it just takes sooooo long for the 3 of us to have toast.

We are in an ebay bubble at the mo - managing to get rid of loads of things we just dont use, havent opened etc.

notsolilKel · 24/02/2007 18:41

hello - this is going to sound odd but if you have trouble turning over at night (pls tell me who doesn't?) wearing silky/satiny pj's helps. Less friction IYKWIM. Yes, it does get desperate doesn't it? About to butter myself and the bed to make it easier, myself...

welcome back LG&T

LupinsBigLump · 24/02/2007 18:46

Yeeyyy welcome back lgt, gastronomic delights return - I m afraid I have missed hearing about all your yummy food

lol at the size of your dh - bless him be he stands no chance of getting any room in the bed

AM I am about to do a blitz on ebay, keep buying stuff but have got loads to get rid of, I hate listing tho

aprilmeadow · 24/02/2007 19:22

I just give all the items to dh and let him spend the time faffing with the listing!!

aprilmeadow · 24/02/2007 19:26

Just ordered the recliner gliding chair and foot stool from Kiddiecare that i wanted for 99.97 and its rrp was 300!! That is due to arrive on the 5th March, then i decided to look for a toybox for J as his is far too small and once i have moved the changer/dresser into the nursery he will have loads of space to have his toys. Cost 129 quid mind, but he does have loads of money in his savings account (been adding up since birth, must be about 300 quid) so thought would be nice to have something to show for it. That arrives in the same week.

So now all i need is for my dad to get the cot then i think it will be safe to say that i will be all done

largeginandtonic · 24/02/2007 19:50

N did get his sword and a crutch! He broke his 2nd metatarsel while doing circuit training\drinking too much and falling over.... He has a moon boot and crutches....we are both cripples!

Silky pj's sound like a very good idea, pj's are banned in our bed, it limits access. Not sure they make them in extra wide heffer sizes anyway.....

I keep getting stuck on my back when i sleep, dh has to wake me up so i turn on to my side or i wake up breathless and feeling like an elephant has taken up residence on my chest, oh the joys

The eclairs and profiteroles were good, the kids devoured them for pudding. The donuts are also good, not KK like at all though, will have to work on that, although adding to the enourmous size of my behind would be no good thing at the moment.

Ebay blitzing sounds like a good thing, im sure i could clear some stuff. Have bought stuff but never sold as yet. Must get too that.

Frenchsmallfry · 24/02/2007 19:51

AM you are so organised. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr Well done you, not sure how you've managed it though you've been so busy at late, have you stolen the super woman cape from somewhere.

OP posts:
LupinsBigLump · 24/02/2007 21:47

AM cant believe you are nearly done, I have tried for last 2 days to get ebay selling to load up and its not having it at all, grrrr really need to clear these clothes

Lgt how do you make eclairs?

Have been a bit more comfortable today, still needed 2 tablets tho - I remember this is how it started with dd and I was bed ridden and on tablets all the time, think it is where baby is pressing on pancreas making it painful, pleeeaaasee nooo, have been really enjoying my pain free pg

twelveyeargap · 25/02/2007 00:23

Hellooooo! Did you miss me? Huh? Huh?

Nice to see you were wondering about me.

Lovely to see you back LG&T. Bugger about N being back to Plymouth soon.

How is your dad LWatkins? And your FIL SOH?

Have read through since I left last week and probably should have written down all the stuff I wanted to reply to!

BTW, that news story on the preemie baby - my mum used to be very active in the pro-life movement years ago. Anyway, they used to have these pictures as an argument against late terminations. Back in the late 70s and early 80s they had data and pics about a little baby boy born in the US at 20 weeks who survived, though can't remember his name and one at 21 weeks, I think her name was Kelly Thorman. Amazing that all those years ago, even though we weren't as medically advanced, that they still lived.

Anyway, I'm back. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great most of the week, but it was much warmer than here and it was lovely just to be away. We got a couple of good days and I was lashing on the "tinted" aftersun so I look vaguely sunkissed!

DH lived like a complete slob whilst I was away. My friend arrived at her house in Spain, just before I left today. Her PIL were with her and her DH and the MIL asked if there was any chance my DH would have the nursery done by the time I got back. Oh how I laughed... DH didn't actually do any washing up while I was gone. I gave him a 4 hour warning of my impending return today and he started "soaking" the dishes. There are still hoards of glasses in the kitchen waiting to have red wine soaked off them.

I gave him two jobs when I left. To sign and post the forms and cheque for the hypnobirthing classes and to replace the lightbulbs on the stairs. The hypnobirthing lady rang on Thursday to ask if I still wanted the place and the stairs are still pitch black. Did I mention I filled in the hypnobirthing forms at 2.30am the morning I left for Spain, when I had to be up at 5am, becuase it was so important to me? Then this morning I told him that it would make me very happy to come home to clean sheets on the bed. He stripped the bed when I was in the taxi on the way back from the airport (with effing MENTAL driver who drove up the arse of every other car and flashed them out of his way - wnker) and DH claims he couldn't find the clean sheets (in the cupboard where they always are). DH currently asleep on the sofa. Has clearly been abusing his body all week and could barely speak when I got home. FFS. Sheets stil not on bed. I am not amused. THIS is why I want to give up work after I have the baby. How can I be expected to cope working a 50 hour week, with a baby, a tweenager and a DH who can't even change an effing lightbulb when asked. I mean, it's not like I could ever, ever rely on him to pick up the baby from a nursery or anything. It's pretty pathetic.

Spain was lovely. DD was very good about the fact that (a) the weather was a bit rubbish and (b) that the communal pool on the resort was closed for refurbishment. Had it been hotter I would have gone to the hotel pool and tried to breeze it out as a guest, but it wasn't worth it, with it not being very hot. We did manage to go the beach on the Monday and Friday. Sightseeing Tues and Thurs and lazing about on Weds since it was raining. It was very nice and relaxing and I didn't even mind doing lots of driving becuase the roads were quiet with it being off-season. The city of Murcia was a bit hairy - we didn't have a map until AFTER I'd parked the car in the city centre! It takes me about 5 days to get used to going round roundabouts the wrong way and I looked for the seat belt on the wrong side almost every time I sat in the car! Beach yesterday was a bit of an adventure becuase with it being off season the public loos were closed as was every cafe and restaurant we passed. HAD to get in the sea for a wee. EEEK. Kept reading that the Mar Menor (salt water lake/ sea South of Spain) has a year round temp of at least 15 degrees. Well, it didn't feel like 15 degrees to me! As I got out, some Spanish bloke wearing, I kid you not, a PUFFA jacket was lauging his arse off at us and saying we were very strong as it was SO cold. Now, it was about 20 degrees air temperature and being Irish, we strip off to summer gear by the time the mercury gets to about 18, but the Spaniards all thought were were nuts. You wouldn't believe how many babies I saw wrapped up in snow suit type things inside cosy toes.

Had a dream whilst I was away that the baby came 8 weeks early and I was going into hospital crying about not having anything for it to wear or sleep in. Perhaps that's how I justified spending EUR65 on three outfits from baby Zara the next day! Awh, so cute though. MUST not buy any more frivolous things and make a list of useful things required.

That list of hospital bag things was great. I think I'll probably do a bag anyway, as I'll need all that stuff to hand at home and would be good if it was all together at least, should I need transferring.

Does anyone have a clever list of basics I need for home? Sheets/ bedding/ basic clothing - that kind of thing?

Hope to chat to you all tomorrow. I'm really, really going to have to ban myself from MN when I'm at work. I have to knuckle down and get things sorted for my departure. Was a bit gutted to realise that I could have been leaving now had I taken leave as early as possible and tacked on my holidays at the start. Tsk.

Hope you all have a good Sunday.

Frenchsmallfry · 25/02/2007 09:56

Yey, your back too TYG, glad you had a good relaxing time. Sorry the weather wasn't that good, 20° is nice, I have to add though, 15° for the sea is bloody freezing!! I am fairly hardy to cold water, don't mind it at all, but I think the guy in the puffa was right. I won't get in our pool under 19° even then it's a quick dip, brrrrrrrr. 26° is just perfect.
Can't believe your dh, I would have had an absolute epi, I'm really sorry but there is no excuse for lazyness and leaving it all for you. I'm so shocked at what you said he didn't do, I don't even know you but I'm sorry it is pathetic, Ohhh I'll stop before I offend, can you tell lazy men and unhelpful dh's is one of my pet hates. It has taken me over 10yrs of hard moulding to train mine. & I do believe some men you can train and others you have no hope with though.

Lupins I really hope you don't end up in too much pain.

Well baby was still very quiet all night, but is making up for it this morning. I really feel fed up with this pg'cy now, I'm soooo impatient I just want baby here, Grrrrrrr I know 11 weeks isn't long but it feels like it. boo hoo, sorry for moaning, I think I am worse when I'm bored.

Hurrah, TYG and largegandt are back!

Glad you are both ok..I would go mental at dh as well TYG.My dh can be a bit like that as well, but this week he has been very helpful, after I had a meltdown last week whilst I was trying to do my study with a screaming dd and the house looking like a bomb had hit it.I ended up weeping like a lunatic and he has bucked up and helped round the house and, even better, with dropping and picking dd up to and from cm a few times this week which has taken the pressure off me a bit.I think it was that that was really getting to me, always having to stress and rush to drop her and pick her up on time and thus never being able to sit down and finish whatever work I was doing in my own time.Makes all the difference having a hand...So maybe try crying like a baby and throwing some stuff?Seemed to scare my one into some action anyway as its not usually my style, (unless ive had a few, I used to be a demon when Id drunk some gin!)

Glad your dh is home for a bit largegandt. But will he miss the birth if he is going back to sea?Lo's all better now? What a mare...

FSF, my bean is a blighter with moving as well.Yesterday she didnt move at all that I could feel till midnight.DD was the same though..it is hard not to worry but I guess they are all different and have their own rhythms..jealous of your pool BTY.I would love my own pool! That and a goat and a few hens out back and I would be set for life..

We went out into London last night. It was nice to be out and see people and have bump admired, but we had also been to Lakeside yesterday, (had a little splurge in H and M and Topshop-had gone with intention of buying a lot of new baby stuff, ended up with only two sponges and a hat for the bean, and two pairs of trousers, a top and some shoes for me, no self discipline).Hence by the time we finally made it in to Soho my back was seized up and I was getting Braxton Hicks, (I hope!) for England. So not much dancin was done by Scoot.Didnt get in till 1 ish either so im dead on my feet today.DH has taken dd into town to get a chicken for later so I am having a lovely rest with the radio on and Mumsnet.Im so sad.Radio 2.I like all the big band and Jazz on Parkinson.S'what Sundays are made for.

Going to try and go for a long walk later if back up to it, then do some ruddy homework.Feel like im back at school.Always left all my homework till Sunday night. Will I never learn?!

Has anyone else got about half a hundred weight of pillows in bed with them now?I have a genii, a boomerang shaped one and about 3 normal ones and I still cant get comfy. They all end up on the floor by the morning anyway, where the real scoot uses them to create a cosy nest for himself. So at least someone is comfy I suppose..

ShowOfHands · 25/02/2007 11:57

I'm such a prat today. I've just logged on, spotted the return of LG&T and TYG and burst into tears (don't worry I cry at everything this weekend- yesterday it was due to the hedgehog on the Abbey advert struggling to get in the tree trunk). The cat's hiding behind sofa and shaking because her human has lost the plot at last. Oh I'm so pleased to see you both.

Huzzah!

FIL is out of hospital and feeling very sore and stiff but set to make a full recovery thank goodness. I've been a bit absent just recently, my only excuse being that I have flu. I feel horrific, haven't had so much as a cold for years and in two weeks I've had gastroenteritis and flu. I presume it's pregnancy related, my immune system's up the spout along with my sciatic nerve and my ability to string a sentence together. DH has it too (but the man variety) so we're a sorry sight between us. I even drank hot lemon this morning to try and get rid of that 'head stuffed with cotton wool' feeling. DH is a walking medicine cabinet- Beechams, olbas oil, paracetamol, vicks, tissues etc. I'm trying to avoid taking anything because of the baby and DH is permanently steaming his head and popping pills. Neither of us appears to be getting better at any great rate so I've decided that all cold/flu remedies are useless anyway. Best medicine so far is icecream, sofa, DVD, duvet. I'm even considering having a day off work tomorrow if I'm not feeling better which is unheard of chez SOH.

Kel- just have to say that wearing satin pyjamas and buttering yourself sounds like the sort of thing that happens in LG&T's special video collection. Don't give her ideas, she's incorrigible.

TYG now that you're back don't even think of doing all of the things that your not so D H should have been doing while you were away. Install yourself on the sofa, give him a list and supervise his punishment. Good on you for not castrating him on sight. I'm glad you had a good time in Spain. We've decided that instead of going to Scotland (the drive's a bit much at 8 months pg) we're going to France in April. Going to a concert on Easter Sunday in London then going to borrow my Dad's car and drive down to Kent and get a ferry over. DH wants to go round some of the WW1 & 2 battlefields so think we'll start with the Normandy beach landings and go from there. Better brush up on my terrible French I suppose.

LG&T- excellent news on the sword m'dear. I am so glad you're back. You were very much missed (if you go again I'm coming with you- they all started talking about pushchairs again and I was so lost. The porn- while despicable- is at least in a language I understand. What is a P&T? I'm scared to ask...) DH is one step closer to starting his new job in the police force- he had his uniform fitting last week- cue lots of preening and strutting round talking about his armour and helmet. I waited until he had finished waffling before delivering the fatal blow of "well yes darling, all very good but LG&T's husband has a sword". Poor boy, dented his pride a bit I think. In all seriousness, I'm very pleased for him- he works a 65hr week in a job he despises, does at least half of the housework (are you listening TYG's OH?!?) and trains incredibly hard for doing triathlon. He deserves a job he will enjoy.

I think I'm going to lie in the bath and groan like the poorly beached whale that I am. Anybody got any tips for getting rid of a sore throat and blocked sinuses? Pregnancy-induced breathless heaving of my gargantuan frame is compounded by the fact that atm breathing in is like eating razor blades. Bleurgh. And that silly pentapeptide bint's on my TV again, going to throw the TV out the window...

twelveyeargap · 25/02/2007 13:27

DH has either had an attack of the guilties, is close to having an asthma attack due to the dust in the house or is sick of me surfing for baby goods and telling him how much we need to spend. Probably a combination of all three really. He's just arrived in the bedroom (where I am installled with laptop), with a can of Mr Sheen and a roll of kitchen paper. I told him not to bother as I was getting 4 cleaners for 4 hours each next week to clean through the house. Must have shocked him; he said, "But I'm doing it now." "Really? Washing doors, skirting boards, de cobwebbing etc?" "Yes, I'm starting now. Can you supervise S doing her room?" "No, I might go out. You'll have to do it."

I'm hiding in the bedroom mainly because I don't have to look at the dirt everywhere else. Ewww. Might have to go and forage for food in a bit though.

Sorry you're not feeling well SOH. Sea water nasal sprays, like Sterimar are perfectly safe to ease congestion. You should find lots of reference on the web that although it hasn't been tested in pregnancy there is lots of common-usage evidence that it's safe (much in the same way we know paracetamol is safe because women have used it for years whilst pregnant).

Nursery stuff... Am thinking white furniture as you can mix and match cheap and cheerful with better quality stuff without it looking odd. DH determined not to buy "child sized" wardrobes etc. He's probably right. Plus the nursery is tiny compared to other rooms in the house, so I'm thinking a white chest of drawers, maybe cheapo Ikea ones and some sort of reasonable changing table like this one Blooming Marvellous Changing Table .

Am suddenly desperate to buy pink and white gingham type thingys to go in the room and pretty pink bedding. DH is resistant to say the least, as I'm sure would SOH be!

MIL has started the ball rolling by buying us a pink fleece blanket though...

Thought apple green and white would be nice too. Sorry, how interminably boring for everyone.

Really anxious to buy crib blankets and sheets and some sleepwear though. Have convinced myself that this baby is going to be born and end up being wrapped in a towel for the first week.

ShowOfHands · 25/02/2007 14:15

Ooh I'm thinking apple green and white too. Beautiful, really beautiful.

Pink gingham is just plain wrong on so many levels... Hold out TYG's DH, say no to the pink... and get on with housework you bad, bad man.

lillaura · 25/02/2007 16:42

good day all !!! just popping in as both ds and dd having a nap after a very sleepless night for all last night and trip to emergancy doc today - ds runing a temp and drowsy etc doc says its just a head cold - but i worry anyway just keeping him dosed on the calpol hoping he will be bttr soon

Frenchsmallfry · 25/02/2007 17:41

Apple green and white, I agree very beautiful, fresh and crisp, lovely. Although and you all know this is coming, I DO like pink gingham. dd has a pink gingham pinafore dress, like an old fashioned school dress in a heavy brushed cotton and I really love it.

TYG, thats good news on the dh front, shame he couldn't do it before you got home though. It's those little things again!!

SOH, I'm really glad FIL is home and through the worst and sorry both you and dh are feeling so crap. Your immune system will be low as baby is sucking all life out of you, definately DO NOT go into work tommrow, even if it not like SOH, I'm sure they won't mind, you need to fight it off with rest.

Lilaura, hope ds is better soon, keep the calpol up and if you are not already a fan, Medised is great, makes them sleep too.

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 25/02/2007 17:53

So glad you are all back, i have missed you both. I may shed a tear too >

TYG naughty husband, deserves punishment of a most severe kind....will ponder on something. Glad your hol meant you rested a bit, a bit of crappy weather is ok as long as you are on holiday. The white furniture idea is very good, i love white stuff anyway. Vertbaudet have some nice colourful stuff to go with it and it's not extortionate either.

SOH im so sorry you have had such nasty bugs, im the sane when prg, not ill at all normally but immune system goes to rat shit when prg.I drink lots of lemon and honey in hot water and have been known to neck a few paracetemol if im desperate. It sucks that when you get prg you get more ill than noraml and can take less for it

How is the house hunt going? Will i still be recieving a guest for the birth? I may come to you at this rate (will explain in the week) That bloody pentapeptides woman is doing my nut too, dh asked the other day what they were, i told him they made it up. I wouldnt buy it on principal now.

Butter in the bed........dh wont allow crumbs Oooooooh it is good to be back

twelveyeargap · 25/02/2007 17:53

You could be right SOH. It's all just so tempting. DH says I'm being brainwashed. Shame I can't brainwash him. Ended up helping DD sort out her room (dragging furniture round - asked DH to do it weeks ago...) and the did the 2nd floor bathroom. Took hours.

Fell on the stairs (in the half dark - the lightbulbs still aren't changed). Had a meltdown and cried my eyes out. DH "sorry". Yeah, yeah. Actually, I might have believed him if he had indeed changed them there and then, but no, still waiting. He has done kitchen, living room and dining room. Woop de woop. I don't know if I can contain my gratitude. He's making dinner though... Must be a bit remorseful.

Green and white nursery; I really like the idea of that. Was thinking, since I'm not a complete muppet, that I should be able to make some bits and pieces for the room. Like liners for wicker baskets and maybe a fabric hanging for the wall, a cot tidy and blinds.. SOH, oh clever maker of stuff; that wouldn't be too hard would it? Hmm, could decorate the walls with little green apples...

My cousin called earlier and is sending a courier round (!) tomorrow evening with a Stokke cot- the posh curvy ones, and a Bill Amberg black sheepskin baby bouncer, plus other baby stuff in the cot. Bouncer is the only thing she wants back. T'was a gift and they're some silly price like £300. Huzzah for the cousin who married a rich bloke!

How is DS now lillaura?

DH just sat down and saw me on MN and said, "Do they all thing I'm a terrible husband?" Resounding yes.

anneme · 25/02/2007 18:00

WElcome back all holiday people - I think this week promises to be vv chatty - how will I keep up?

Bump went mad last night - it really was doing the alien thing as i lay in bed - quite disconcerting really.

Lil - DS (31/2) has suddenly, in the last 2 weeks, started wetting his bed at night after being completely dry. NOt sure why. He's also had a couple of accidents during the day. Don't know if the whole baby thing is beginning to freak him out. I am feeling quite tired with the regular nighttime get up and change bedding thing - although he is v sweet and just sits on the floor and then clambers back into bed. I have more trouble getting out of bed because I have to climb over my big long cushion (which is being brilliant now) in order to get out. Have had a sore left hip too because I was doing some of my preg yoga and one of the things was to rotate hips and my hip started clicking - now it hurts in the morning because I am sleeping on that side. AND I have to sleep on that side otherwise my bits swell due to varicose veins DOWN THERE. Tried buying some support pants but they take about 3 years to get in and out of....the sleeping thing seems to be working though.

I got really paranoid when pregnant last time (and a bit this) that something would happen to my parents ....it didnt
