Wishing you all a merry Christmas! It's hard to fit the dinner in with the bump!

Fox get well soon Flowers

Almondinha · 26/12/2016 11:26

I'm due with number one in the 11th May!

Teaspoon74 · 26/12/2016 14:29

Raspberry - where's Wilmington?

Dream - innit!! Worried I'd squashed Bic with veg yesterday.... which stayed down (whoop whoop!!).

Almondinha - 5 days ahead of me, unless they induce at 38 (a possibility). Race you! ;)

RasperryInAMelon · 26/12/2016 14:33

Teaspoon North Kent, near Dartford - I have the choice between delivery at QE in Greenwich or Darenth

Teaspoon74 · 26/12/2016 14:44

Rasperry- have you decided where yet?

I used to work for NHSE and tbh the stories I heard about QE and Lewisham led to me choosing St Thomas'. Had first scan at QE then switched.

Tommys is a bit of a trek, but worth it for the care and staff attitude I've experienced there.

mrspage1985 · 26/12/2016 15:51

Hi all can I join you, I was dated as June but moved to May 30th, now almost 18weeks and 20 week scan booked in for 11th Jan.
We have found we are having a boy via a private gender scan just before xmas!
X

Teaspoon74 · 26/12/2016 16:20

Congrats MrsPage!

Brightsmoke · 26/12/2016 16:21

DH felt the baby kick for the first time yesterday, it was the prefect Christmas gift! I'm finally feeling better thankfully.

What is everyone else doing about th MatB1 form? I have just over 3 weeks to get it and get it in, but I don't want want to interrupt my Midwife's break for it, but it will be tight come the new year to get it sorted, argh!

Teaspoon74 · 26/12/2016 17:06

Hey Bright - that's wonderful news, what a fab gift! Dunno about the MatB1 form - first timer etc. What's it for? #showingignorance

Sonnet18 · 26/12/2016 17:14

We get it at the 24 week appointment and you send it off that day. You legally need to tell them at 25 weeks so as long as you're organised then it's all fine. It's just a form which she signs and you put in an envelope to your hr department then it's no big deal!

Teaspoon74 · 26/12/2016 17:24

Thanks Sonnet. I've told my CEO and HR oppo but good to know there's a further process/ form... don't think I've had it mentioned yet!

mightymouse76 · 26/12/2016 17:53

Hi everyone, hello again teaspoon!
May I pick your brain on your choice of St Thomas's? It seems to have really positive feedback and I have thought about switching, but I was worried about the trek...not getting there in an emergency, labour, etc...
I think I'm roughly the same distance from it as you but north of the river (E7).
What were your thoughts on that distance vs urgency aspect? Curious to know as still in two minds. Homerton have so far been good, but I think they can be a bit hit and miss on aftercare...

McBaby · 26/12/2016 18:21

You don't have to give them the mat form by 25 weeks just inform them of your intention to take mat leave. You can give them the form whenever so hr/payroll can process to get your amp.

McBaby · 26/12/2016 18:21

Smp.

MrsJW15 · 26/12/2016 18:27

mightymouse we picked St Thomas's over Homerton, although we are in hackney. The care has been good so far and they have a good reputation. My view was that normally labour takes a while so we should be fine to get there, plus it's a bit of a drive to Homerton anyway. If it's an emergency we may end up at Homerton or Royal London but I'm hoping that it won't be!

EsmesBees · 26/12/2016 19:39

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. It was our first one where dd had a clue what was going on and it was lovely. Made me rediscover the magic. Missed having a drink or two though.

Brightsmoke · 26/12/2016 19:48

Thanks Sonnet and McBaby, I definitely read somewhere that it needed to be IN for 25 weeks, but no idea where I got that info from, so thanks for confirming it doesn't :)

I hope everyone had a fab Christmas

RasperryInAMelon · 26/12/2016 19:55

Teaspoon I was set on QE - my DHs grandfather passed away there after being cared for there and everything was excellent. We have both also had many various trips there for different things and never had any issues and I also visited the Maternity Day Centre there last Friday and they were excellent.

I am however, going to go on one of the tours and also check out Darenth. St Thomas is 45 mins for me!

RasperryInAMelon · 26/12/2016 19:59

Mat B1 - you shouldn't be given it more than 20 weeks before your EDD. You need to hand it to your employer no later than 25 weeks into your pregnancy (or at least 15 weeks before your due date). Failure to do so could delay your maternity pay arrangements.

Teaspoon74 · 26/12/2016 21:09

Hey mightymouse - I guess I'm working on the assumption that if induced, I'll be planning the trip and if not, it's about 25 mins by cab/car. QE is a lot closer but on basis of friends, medics etc ...

Rasberry- totally understand. I think it's natural to decide on basis of your experience/ that of friends and family. Yours has obviously been good. Mine less so, and not going there means there's one less thing on my mind come the big day Confused

mightymouse76 · 26/12/2016 22:00

Thanks, that's food for thought tea and mrs.
I've got consultant led care due to a pre-existing endocrine problem combined with the age factor, and the Homerton Dr I met last week was really thorough, giving me tests I should have been given (but wasn't) by both my GP and my endocrine team at Barts, both of whom have dropped the ball slightly with me... I would feel a sort of crap misplaced guilt walking away now after decent care, but might venture a tour of the facilities there and at Tommy's to put my mind at rest. Not that birthing centres or pools are an option for me anyway, according to the MW!

On a more general note, I actually saw some bit of him repeatedly poke out my bump in the bath earlier...was cracking me up! I think he was fist-bumping my womb. Concerned I'm having a cage fighter.

Teaspoon74 · 26/12/2016 22:43

Mighty - hilarious re fist bumping!!! As far as guilt goes, these guys are professionals so you have to just make the right choice for you. You can't go back/ change your mind after the event... having said that, it's all about people so if your consultant is giving. You the care you need, that is hugely important!

Tommys do an open eve once a month but sure you could pop in any time for a general look-see...

Can't wait until I can actually see a defined bump/ movement. Am already massive curvy, so I can feel a hardening shape developing but no real bump visible.

mummyplus7 · 27/12/2016 02:49

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas xx

jennymac31 · 27/12/2016 08:53

Morning ladies.

Hope you have all had a great Christmas.

Woke up very hungry at 5am but since then the nausea and vomiting has come back with a vengeance. Wouldn't mind if it wasn't for the fact that I've got all my husband's family coming over for the annual get-together.

1004Rise · 27/12/2016 09:35

Mighty good luck with your cage fighter! That made me laugh.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas, bit miffed at the lack of space for Christmas dinner but didn't miss the alcohol at all. Planning Brie and bacon toasting at some point though!!!
