I will be 20 weeks by the time I've have it but my 20 week scan won't be until a few days later?

Rabbitykins55 · 21/12/2016 15:09

Ah ok. I got that info from the NHS website but they don't give a reason as to why it would need to be then. When I went yesterday I was only asked how many weeks I was, not if I'd had my scan. Everything is so conflicting no wonder I get confused! Confused

McBaby · 21/12/2016 15:37

Not having mine till the new year when I will be 22 weeks I didn't want to risk feeling ill before xmas or having to take the kids with me to the doctors in the holidays.

RasperryInAMelon · 21/12/2016 15:41

I got told by the Midwife to book in for it at my 16 week appointment!?... why am I now worrying!?

CinnamonTwist · 21/12/2016 15:47

My midwife said it must be after 20 weeks and the nurse also double checked I was past 20 weeks before she would inject me on the day... if it's different in Scotland then I guess it's just down to local policy but they both seemed quite firm about it?!

lucieloos · 21/12/2016 15:52

When I went for the flu jab when I was around 12 weeks the nurse also mentioned the whooping cough and said it was given at 20 weeks so I wouldn't book it before then without checking first.

lalaland1985 · 21/12/2016 15:56

Here is the link to the Scottish literature www.nes.scot.nhs.uk/media/3539495/Pertussis%20FAQs%20210416.pdf

lucieloos · 21/12/2016 16:05

It must be different in Scotland because on the NHS site for England and Wales it's says 20 weeks.

RasperryInAMelon · 21/12/2016 16:11

I text my Midwife and she confirmed - then walked into the nurse who said she won't do it until 21-22 weeks so I've had my flu jab... OOOOOWWWW!

And rebooked for my whooping Cough Angry

Streaky17 · 21/12/2016 16:45

Good scan today, nothing major to worry about. Only took 40 mins including a 5min walk to change position for the last measurement. Completely amazed that she was able to keep track of which bits belonged to who.

I'm booked in for whooping cough jab in two weeks time.

Sleeping is getting a bit uncomfortable and feeling a bit odd during the days but other than that feeling OK for now.

Rabbitykins55 · 21/12/2016 17:53

Raspberry the whooping cough hurts way less than the flu jab! I was pleasantly surprised. Smile

growcookeat · 21/12/2016 18:17

Eurgh. Woke up this morning feeling really sick, which I thought was weird as I've been past the nausea stage for months. Then realised after a lot more sleep that it's actually s&d and have been in bed (tmi - and in the bathroom) all day Sad
I'm not sure if it's from eating something dodgy (possibly last nights chicken - although DH is fine) or I've picked something up whilst in hospital for my scan yesterday?

I've drunk what feels like 40 gallons of water and managed to get some toast down. Is there anything else I can do?

1004Rise · 21/12/2016 18:28

I think if the flu jab hurts then the whooping cough doesn't, I was fine with flu, whooping cough I had a sore arm for days after... I'm in Scotland too and up here it's any time from 16 weeks onwards... in fact I walked out of my 16 week appointment and biotin for my whooping cough jab Smile

Adventuregame · 21/12/2016 18:28

20 week scan showed everything normal ! So relieved.

1004Rise · 21/12/2016 18:29

biotin?? What?? Stupid phone

Obviously "booked in" Confused

Nurse15 · 21/12/2016 19:02

I'm 19 weeks today and still not felt any movement Confused getting grumpy about it now as I just want to know all is okay!! My placenta isn't at the front either so no reasonable explanation! Will this worrying something is wrong ever stop?

lucieloos · 21/12/2016 19:07

Nurse, it's still early especially if it's your first. Some don't feel anything up to about 22 weeks.

Shoney85 · 21/12/2016 19:11

I'm in Scotland and midwife hasn't even mentioned whooping cough vaccine to me in any of our appointments. 20 week scan on Friday then next midwife appointment start of the year.

Barnes79 · 21/12/2016 19:25

Nurse - my midwife said 20-25 weeks is the "normal" for starting to feel things. I'm 17.5 weeks and not feeling a thing.

MrsJW15 · 21/12/2016 19:36

Nurse when I had the ultrasound I mentioned that I hadn't felt much movement. They said it was still early, and that I would in the next few weeks. I'm 19+5 so a little ahead of you.

Gurtie28 · 21/12/2016 19:58

20 week scan today, we have a perfectly sized and healthy little girl Grin
Bit of a shock as we were so sure it was a boy kicking around in there!
Let the pink explosion begin!!

FoxMulder · 21/12/2016 20:12

Congratulations on the scans guys!

MissMooMoo · 21/12/2016 20:15

grow I was really ill last week, lasted about 2 days and took a few more to actually get energy back.
hope you start to feel better soon!

PeachIcedT · 21/12/2016 20:18

Great scan news those who had them today Smile. I'm booked in for whooping cough vaccine the day after my scan, I'm sure that'll be late enough for them to administer.

Sipperskipper · 21/12/2016 21:18

Great news on scans today everyone!
