Haven't got lots to buy here tbh as have so much from my boys (they are 3 and 2). Altho working lots of overtime to get the bugaboo donkey. Also need a bedside cot as both boys bedshare with us and I don't think they will be in their own beds/room by June! Need to rebuy a close caboo as stupidly sold my last one when I got my Tulas. Apart from that will only need a couple little bits like cord tie etc. Trying to buy a cloth nappy here and there as I go along plus a friend is giving me loads of cloth nappies too.

I did cave and use some Christmas £ on some bits from the next sale yesterday. Very surreal to shop in the "girls" section. Tho I'm not a fan of everything in pink so I went for lots of other stuff plus she will be wearing loads of her brothers clothes!

I don't have a big bump yet (14 weeks today), but am I correct that maternity leggings are still a wise purchase as they will expand with me? Or just get next size up in normal leggings as maternity might look silly at this stage? Things are starting to get a little tight!

Monkeyandthebear · 28/12/2016 10:53

Catlady I am thinking of getting maternity leggings. I had my normal ones on yesterday but like you they are getting a bit tight. I think that maternity ones might have a higher up waist band which would really help. I have just been looking at george at Asda for them.

catlady15 · 28/12/2016 11:05

monkey, we're on our way to see relatives up north and I am making us call in at asda on the way, hoping the store will have maternity in stock as leggings are really digging in!

catlady15 · 28/12/2016 12:16

For future reference, you have to order in to asda, they don't have maternity in store.

Sundaygal · 28/12/2016 14:06

Definitely get maternity ones ... I used mine post birth too for ages as they are comfy! I'm already in them again and my bump is barely there - 15+3

haveacupoftea · 28/12/2016 19:55

I've maternity ones on from new look, they seem a lot thicker than usual leggings which will come in handy when I get really big and decide to wear them instead of jeans Blush

catlady15 · 28/12/2016 20:20

Thanks for the advice! Better get ordering so I have something to wear for work!

Masweetpea1 · 28/12/2016 21:05

I'm in Dorothy perkins maternity leggings. Normal size.
They're pretty good, but very long.... And I'm pretty tall!!

Hermano · 28/12/2016 21:38

Moonlight I'd add in some basic first aid type things, child thermometer, calpol, teething gel etc. I forget what you can use when but good to have a couple of things ready

For hospital I'd suggest packing clothes (knickers and nighties at least) for 3 days, you don't know how long you'll be there so a couple of extra outfits might be good

For baby some black and white books could be good?

MoonlightMojitos · 28/12/2016 21:49

Thanks hermano :). I was thinking a couple of nighties/shirts anyway as obviously it can be a messy business and don't want to have to stay in dirty ones! I've heard nighties are better over trouser sets incase you need catheter after c section too if you end up needing one?

As for how many babygros/vests I'm thinking I'll just stock up as there is no way I'll be doing washing every other day especially at first when settling in! They can get through a few a day as well can't they with any leaky nappies?! I've seen packs of 5 for £8 so not sure how many to get of each long and short sleeved?

FrizzBombDelight · 28/12/2016 21:56

Hi had a sneaky scan today and they are nearly sure it's a boy (pesky cord kept getting in the way!)

Aww lovely Frizz! I had a gender scan on Christmas Eve and the baby was lying in fhevwirst position possible. Had to go for a walk, drink a sugary drink and rock back and forth to try encourage it to move. It did (very briefly) so managed to get a potty shot luckily! The sonographer also gave us a 4D look which was amazing but again couldn't really see much because of the position. Definitely considering a proper 4D scan later on - so unbelievable watching them moving and seeing tiny fingers and toes Smile
Great list Mojitos and a good idea too about black and white books Hermano. I've started looking for nursery furniture but really struggling to find any that is white. So many that state white are actually quite cream looking. Has anyone got any recommendations? Ideally want a cot bed and changing dresser unit.

MundayCakes85 · 29/12/2016 08:42

Morning all, haven't been on much over Christmas. Will try to catch up later on. Back to work today though 😞 Hope everyone had a lovely few days xxx

Walkerbean16 · 29/12/2016 11:57

moonlight the best thing anyone. Bought me with my first was a pack of breast shells, I had never heard of them but my MIL bought me some, they go over the nipple of the breast that is not being used for feeding and collects milk, obviously only handy if you are breastfeeding and have a good supply but for me they were fab!

haveacupoftea · 29/12/2016 18:18

I have my gender scan tomorrow, so excited! Also the ravenous hunger has made an unwelcome return, looks like i'll be up at 4am fogging cereal again this week Confused

haveacupoftea · 30/12/2016 11:53

I am so excited! I am sitting here and haven't a clue whether the flutters and pops in my tummy are nerves, gas or movements! Its driving me mad not knowing!

SpreadOnToast · 30/12/2016 14:26

Thank you guys Smile

tea hope your scan goes well today. Exciting that it's time to find out already!

Sixisthemagicnumber · 30/12/2016 14:44

So DH has spent two mornings pram shopping. He was going to buy them I candy apple to pear as it was at a really reduced price but after realising that the carrycot can't be used in tandem mode he has now set his heart on a much more expensive tandem. He needs to spend a few months saving now Grin

haveacupoftea · 30/12/2016 16:44

I'm sure everyone is on FB now but in case you arent, gender scan showed a boy Grin

SpreadOnToast · 30/12/2016 17:22

Aww tea that's lovely!
