NEW THREAD!!!! Could this be the last one before we all start to drop???

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Booboobedoo · 23/02/2007 13:22

Kitty: I don't need to get up and wee in the night at all, and he's 2/5 engaged. It's only if I'm walking outside that he presses on my bladder: walking round the house is fine.

Also my SPD is't that bad.

I know it's only my first, but it does appear from lots of threads on MN that people have very different experiences in different pregnancies. I bet if you'd kept a diary of all of yours you'd see loads!

Have a cake.

CallieNewMum · 23/02/2007 13:31

HURRAH I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!!!!!

Congratulations Amie, Flannelettepyjamas and Dixia on your arrivals. Welcome to the March thread new mum's club (even if we are January and February babies, we're still March threaders all the way!). So pleased for you, Amie glad Joseph is home, Flannelette and Dixia, hope you are not finding special care too stressful although even as I write that I'm laughing hollowly because you can't help but find it stressful. Good luck with the expressing Flannel. Dixia, are you only allowed in for two hours a day???? That's inhuman if so, I could go and see my son 24 hours a day. Have I misunderstood you?

Everyone else, I've read some posts here and there so hope I haven't missed any other arrivals, don't think I have.

Dolly, really hope your dad is getting better, what a terrible stress for you all at this time especially. Thinking of you.

Diva, hope your BP is ok, I think you were having trouble if I read post correctly. Those with SPD, hope it's not too painful!

Come on then, who's going to be next??? Ooh, it's exciting (for me, now that I'm through that bit of course). of people who are getting sleep at night although I must say Jordi is pretty good at going through for a few hours - that's the one plus from the long hospital stay, he's generally quite routine.

Laidback, hope you get the birth you want - don't let them bully you.

Btw, I'm a home alone mum for a week as DP has gone up Mossy's way to Lancashire for work. In the whole history of our relationship, he's never had to do that for such a long period... I'm fine coping with the baby, it's looking after myself without him that's the problem as he does the cooking! Am planning an extended visit to my mum's for part of his trip.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 23/02/2007 13:39

Kitty I don't know, I'm sorry! All I can say is, I do need to wee all night long but don't get insomnia, I do get heartburn really badly but haven't got SPD at all. Baby doesn't punch my bladder, and I didn't know whether or not I'd had any BH's until last night when I got what I knew was one (and was actually really excited - I know that's a bit sad!)

Still I suppose at least if you are sleeping it's a good thing?

Booboo can't remember if I said, but if I didn't, thanks for defending my thread title yesterday!!!

Magpie sorry you're feeling uncomfortable are you able to get any rest?

Foxy that Chris Stringer sounds awful, how does he get away with saying stuff like that?

Spongecake lol at BHs!

Oooh just got an email from dh, NatWest have paid the money into my account!!!!!

Xposts Hi Callie, you sound a bit happier today, it's lovely to hear that you're okay! Where abouts in Lancs. has your dp gone?

OP posts:
rosylonginglily · 23/02/2007 14:53

I'll have to look out on my news later Fox, not sure if we'll get it here. Its hard to work out how people can justify some things!

Callie glad you are getting a bit of sleep anyway, that's the part I'm dreading most!
Kitty I'd be sleeping fine these days if ds2 wasn't waking couple of times a night. Sometimes I have to get up and eat because if my tummy starts rumbling I can't sleep.

Spongecake I was starting to wonder if you had popped! I wonder who'll be next.......
not me!

divastropwantstodrop · 23/02/2007 14:56

dixia-congratulations on your lo's arrival.i dont know about his particualr condition but my dd2 spent 5 days in intensive care when she was 2 weeks old(she had bronchiolitis and had to be put ona ventilator),i know how scary it is-my heart goes out to you.

it was actually not raining for a change today,so i took the kids to the park and then went to tesco.i may have slightly overdone things as i now have a terrible back ache and tightnings as the bottom of my bump.

fox-will it only be on the london news do you think?

divastropwantstodrop · 23/02/2007 15:14

callie-whereabouts in lancashire has he gone?i live in cumbria, just slightly further north.my bp has gone back down now but the sooner i get this over with the happier i'll be.

i have just eaten another pineapple...i think this is the 'i will pop before my birthday!!!' diet.

kitty-i only go for a wee in the night if i get woken up by a teething dd2,i havent had heartburn since the baby started to engage, and the last time i suffered pregnancy insomnia was in my 2nd pregnancy.i can sleep at will these days

Piffle · 23/02/2007 15:43

kitty you've put the curse on it now. your symptoms will come at you with a vengeance!

The dogs were ok they're only Jack Russells
Bathed Doodles (the poorly one) he is at the vets on a drip anti sickness anti diarrhoea, antibiotics and fluids.

poor little guy, the other one Buster (whom I don't get on with one iota) is dp's welcome home present and trust me, he is the dirtier one.

Exp is stressing me ouuuuuuuuuuuuuut
he is meant to be picking up ds from Gatwick at 5.30pm (ds been in France on school ski trip) other boys are coming back here to Lincs on coach but exp asked especially to pick him up, so requires bags to be labelled
Exp was meant to call the teacher today well before flight left to confirm rendezvous point and so they can label ds's bags.
He is out of contact
so sod him ds is coming home tonight
GRRRR all the while dealing with this I had 6 BH's in 14 minutes.
Stress does not help I can confirm

sazzybee · 23/02/2007 15:49

Yep - stress or hassle is definitely the best way to up your BHs. How annoying for you piffle. Is this usual behaviour for your exp?

morocco · 23/02/2007 15:52

great news mossy -what are you going to buy then???
btw just read through a bit of that thread - really petty - I like your thread title, some people are soooooo miserable

piffle - sounds yucky but glad ddog1 is in safe hands at the vets.

kitty - you lucky girl, missing out on all the crappier bits of pregnancy this time round.

always meant to ask, but does anyone else have that muscle separation thing? I always wear v clingy tops and you can see a total line right down the middle of my bump about an inch wide. pretty gross. I was whingeing about it to another preggers woman who's also a physio and she reckoned it never joins back up again - double yuck. I am splitting in half

spongecake · 23/02/2007 15:56

rosy, yes I wonder who will be next? have you heard from your dh when he will be back?

diva, my dp has bought a whole job lot of pineapple which I am eating-luckily I like it am not due for 20 days but keep being told will be v soon by doc and complete strangers!

have just embaressed myself as we are getting married in the summer, and I sent an email to the guests about the hotel, and accidently copied someone who is NOT invited. luckily it was a blind copy email, but still................she was very nice about it

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 23/02/2007 16:24

Ladies have just been told we're moving the office around so I will be offline now for a while! Will try to post tomorrow morning before my driving lesson, unless we're back online before close of play!

Morocco, I am spending the first of our NatWest money by going out for a meal with dh tonight! After that a breast expressing thingy, a microwave sterilser, a moses basket, a baby monitor, digital camera and some another swaddling wrap it's so cute!, a chair for sitting on when bfing. Half of the money is spoken for though, it is paying off my overdraft so I don't get into any trouble when I'm on mat leave!

Diva what date is your birthday? Are you going to do anything for it do you think?

Piffle glad your dog is okay and being looked after at the vet. Poor little thing.

Spongecake / Diva can you eat pinapple before your EDD do you think? I might get started, I really don't want to go overdue, if I am more than ten days overdue they make you go into the main hospital bit instead of the mw unit!

Right, better go...

.... not long now until they announce win of the week either ha ha ha I wonder will Ziggy win though?

OP posts:
kittywaitsfornumber6 · 23/02/2007 16:33

Piffle, you're not having a great time atm are you? Glad the poorly dog is being cared for at the vets, hope he gets better soon.

Mossy, excellent news, what are you going to buy first?

Morocco, I haven't even really got a brown line on my tummy either . I must say that I think it does all knit back together ime.

Rosy/Diva thnaks for the reassurances. Right I'm off to see how the cat fight on one of the am I being unreasonable threads is coming along

Piffle · 23/02/2007 16:44

yes exp is famous for this
He tells me he is going to Gatwick and will get ds...
I see a scene coming on, SOOO relieved I'm not there. He lives in his own world at times.
Deep breathing Piff deep breathing
Just rung up to check on Doodle dog, he still has the runny poo so he's in overnight but is quite alert so not in serious danger they think.

Need to ring in the morning to see how he is, it's a mystery as the other dog is in rude health, you'd expect a gastro bug would affect both of them. Weird...

Everything is getting on top of me, I've asked dp to take some of the load off me this weekend.
I am not usually a stressy bird but with poor sleep and poor health, plus given dd was really ill and up all hours last week, I guess I was pushed to it.
I am feeling better though, the stye in my eye has cleared after being bathed with chamomile, my poisoned lip is healing after being drowned in tea tree and compresses, even the sinusitis is giving up with paracetamol.
So hopefully I can stop whinging soon
I can handle the pregnancy ailments, but anything else on top
NO thanks!

Piffle · 23/02/2007 16:45

Envy Mossy her dinner out
DP refuses to take me out as I have run out of room and can hardly eat a decent portion anymore
Enjoy your unexpected windfall, could not happen to a nicer chick

muppetisacat · 23/02/2007 16:57

Unbelievably the boy has turned!!!

Just had it confirmed by 2 midwives but oh my dear god in heaven one did an internal with a sweep "whilst she was there"

How could I NOT know what that entails when I have been pregnant twice b4??????

The good news is it meant she could defo confirm he was 2 - 3 fifths engaged and felt his fontenelles (spelling?) but didn't realise the sweep hurt quite so much. Now I am hobbling like I have a coconut between my legs.

Off to lie on sofa and eat chocolate... am in shock....

sazzybee · 23/02/2007 17:09

A sweep while she was there? It's not like popping to the supermarket is it?

Oww - that sounds very painful muppet but I'm so glad he's turned round! Enjoy the sofa. I'm off to vacuum. People are turning up at the baby shower v soon and I am nowhere near ready

Piffle · 23/02/2007 17:12

oh muppet great news abut him turning!
I had a sweep with dd at 37+5 as m/w said cervix was ripe enough, had dd 4 days later

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 23/02/2007 17:55

That's great news muppet, you must be mighty relieved eh? Maybe she was a bit rough when she did the sweep? I've found them a little uncomfy but I don't think they've actually hurt. They would make me a bit crampy afterwards, only had one that ever worked though.

Chocolatepenny · 23/02/2007 17:59

Hello Everyone
Is anyone thinking of buying a Strep B test? I found a place that sells them for £32, you do them yourselves and send it back to the lab. My MW is very unconvinced by them but I'd like to know how you all feel about it?

TheBlonde · 23/02/2007 19:27

ChocPen - someone bought a strep B test but I can't recall who now

Muppet - good that baby has turned. about the sweep.. did she ask you first?

AmieR · 23/02/2007 20:09

Choc - I did that test, at 37 weeks, it came back positive, but in the end I had a C section... but I think its all down to personal preference and if you are worried about it, take one, if you're not convinced, they do checks when baby is born to see for things like that, according to my midwife, who said it was up to me and even offered to do my swabs for me. I did it for peace of mind.

divastropwantstodrop · 23/02/2007 20:10

moss-i started with the pineapple as soon as i hit 37 weeks as that is when you are classed as full term.tbh i dont htink any of those things work unless you are going to pop anyway..

my birthday is march 1st(next thursday ).im not doing anything till ive had the baby, despite my grand plans about going for a major piss-up in blackpool(that was before i got pregnant).i dont feel like celebrating anything other than getting this baby out.

piffle-i think you should just go on strike and refuse to do anything for the rest of the pregnancy.you've had more than your fair share of crap already.

muppet-the first time i had a sweep was with dd2,and i found it more painful than the labour.why do they do them randomly in other parts of the country but wont do them till you're overdue here??

theblonde-i think it was amie who bought a strep b test?

divastropwantstodrop · 23/02/2007 20:11

x-posts!

Chocolatepenny · 23/02/2007 20:25

Thanks, I thought it would be down to personal choice,..going to see what mw other MW thinks, but Think I'll get one.
