NEW THREAD!!!! Could this be the last one before we all start to drop???

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
eidsvold · 19/02/2007 07:17

kitty it had cooled down for a while and we got some much needed rain but the heat and the humidity are back although nowhere near as bad as early Jan.

Guess cause I have a date the time is dragging whereas with the other two - still the waiting and with dd2 the date was only a week ahead rather than 8 weeks ahead.

eidsvold · 19/02/2007 07:20

mossy - can you get something like this?? if you are worried about co sleeping.

here

I had the moses basket right beside my side of the bed and would sometimes doze off whilst dd2 was feeding in the night and wake up later with her asleep next to me. As kitty said - you don't sleep as deeply as you might imagine ( this from someone who can sleep through anything)

foxabout2pop · 19/02/2007 07:21

MissMossy - Morning early bird!!

Why is your DH being so grumpy - is he feeling insecure or left out about what it'll be like when your baby arrives?

Re. co-sleeping, I put a seperate baby blanket over the LO so they don't go under my duvet and also put some barrier on their side of the bed so they don't fall off! TNB I think a Mum is only likely to roll on her baby if she is drunk/stoned/very exhausted, so I've never worried about it too much (just can't imagine not noticing you've rolled on you baby but then I'm a light sleeper).

Legends about baby development: Our DD walked at 9 months (not unusual but it did look funny) and our DS was fed himself at 1 (with no mess ) and was doing age 5 puzzles when he was 2.5 - so they are the acheivements our legends will be made of. I certainly won't mention in years to come the fact that DS 6.5 now, still insists on me wiping his bum!!!...oh unless he gets a girlfriend I really don't like of course !

foxabout2pop · 19/02/2007 07:25

ooops crossed posts - Kitty I remember that year as DD was born in July 2003 - we couldn't leave the house until 4pm each day due to the heat and had electric fans plugged in all over the house!!

...poor Eids

Eids that baby cot thing looks nice.

We also have one of those up against the bed cots which you can line up with your mattress.

True about not being able to sleep heavily as you are on constant snuffle alert with a newborn

foxabout2pop · 19/02/2007 07:37

Me again, monopolising the thread

Kitty hope 1st day back into the routine goes well, our 1/2 term starts today and I've been looking forward to it since Christmas!

I have a day at hospital today. This morning I'm off to a BF revision workshop for 2nd/3rd time Mums. Probably don't need it but I always feel BFing is a lost are (like knitting) which our mothers don't teach us anymore and no doubt I'll learn something I don't know.

This arvo I have my final scan (bearing in mind QC date me at 39 weeks today) to check if placenta is far removed enough from Os to allow me a natural birth. It was 3cm away from the Os, 3 weeks ago.

I may have a battle on my hands, as my consultant favours clinical intervention, so wish me luck!

foxabout2pop · 19/02/2007 07:41

ooops 38+1 (Monti )

kiwibella · 19/02/2007 09:18

good luck at the hosp today Foxy.

Sorry to hear that you are so uncomfortable Eids. I guess there is something about the mild temps we have here.

Enjoy your last few days Moss... it will fly by!

Kitty... guessing you mean the kids are back to school today. I loved having the opportunity to drop my dd off this morning. It was so interesting seeing her mix with her mates.

This is it - although I have had a week of maternity leave already, today is my first day on my own. I feel so lost!! The house is a tip and there are so many baby things I could be doing... maybe it's knowing where to start.

kiwibella · 19/02/2007 09:19

oops... thanks for all your opinions about swaddling. If I get back to the shops, I might try out one of those swaddling blankets.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 19/02/2007 09:23

Callie it's really nice to hear from you. And I am glad you are feeling happier.

Leo, I don't look like any of the characters from the Mr Men books. However Jemima Puddleduck is much closer to the mark!

Eids you must be so hot! You poor thing! Are you still going in your hammock? I like the look of that thing that goes in the bed with you. I'll have a look into that, thanks very much.

Foxy / Kitty thanks for the co sleeping info. As I say, I'm getting a moses basket but I want to be able to have the option!

Foxy dh is always grumpy of a morning. Actually, he went back to bed after his mini-rant. He has been a bit less grumpy generally speaking since he found out about that job interview. Problem is, if I ever ask him why he is being grumpy, I either get "I'm not grumpy!" or "Of course I'm grumpy. It's the morning!" as if the time of day was excuse for being a miserable sod!

On a serious note I do worry a little about the effect (affect?) a new baby will have on him and whether he will get some male equivalent of PND (not being flippant, he has suffered with clinical depression before). But we'll just have to wait and see.

Kiwibella I have my maternity leave days planned out to a tee... only eight working days until I put my plan into action!!

Booboobedoo · 19/02/2007 09:28

I've probably missed you foxy, but good luck at the hospital. Don't let them sneak any pessaries in while you're not looking! They've 'let' you go a whole day over 38 weeks already! .

It's half term here too, which means a park-full of children with footballs. Fine, except my dog loves playing football, and her favourite trick if I'm not paying attention is to nip in, steal their ball and run away with it looking incredibly pleased with herself. (She always brings it back when I call her, but it's embarrassing).

Well, after me having a major melt-down last night and going for a drive at 9:45pm, I came back to find DH had cleared the hall. The bedroom and the living-room were still covered in crap, so I started doing those, and he grudgingly did the heavy bits.

He's in a foul mood and claims to be 'really tired', but I slept like a log and woke up feeling more relaxed than I have in ages. There's actually room to have a baby here now! This is the thread I started about it last night .

Callie: glad to hear you feel calmer. How's Jordi settling at home? Has your mastitis cleared up?

Kitty: who'll do the school run when you've had LO? Maybe they could start early?

Eids - sorry you're so uncomfortable. I do feel sorry for you in all that heat. I'm thankful for the chill here. (Makes a change).

Mossy: it was the sulks that really got to me with DH yesterday too. 'You've got your way, but this is the price you pay' attitude. Never mind. I got my way! . (How childish am I?).

Leo: are you going to try tandem feeding? Our NCT teacher was showing us how to do it (not sure why as none of us are expecting twins). Hope you slept well and the LOs didn't keep you awake.

Bethoo: how exciting to be getting your induction date! We're excited for you anyway!

Hi laidback. I love OAP parties. Loads of cake and sitting down. Actually, that pretty much sums up my life atm.

Morocco: yep, I do seem to be in frenzied nesting mode. He can't come early though. I'm just not ready. [denial emoticon].

EDD 3/3

Booboobedoo · 19/02/2007 09:30

X-posts kiwi & mossy. Hello! .

muppetisacat · 19/02/2007 09:41

morocco - have to say i'm not positive that he's turned - it's just that all along I've really easily been able to feel his hard round skull right at top of my ribs. It's a smooth round shape and never changed in it's shape when I poked it (as a bum might do once the legs/hips moved). When I placed my hands either side of it you could sort of flex it from one hand to another - that's the neck allowing it to do that!

Anyway - I can't find it now! So either I am giving birth to a tortoise who has retracted its head - or the head is lying elsewhere. Of course it could just be that the whole lot has shifted right down - making it harder to get at the shape of the head - it's certainly coincided with a load of pubic pain, leg pain and more frequent trips to the loo!

The other reason I thought he'd moved was that I always felt his hiccups down near my pubic bone - now they feel like they're much higher up.

Anyhow - I don't know if that's of any help! Good luck with your scan! Having had my breech confirmed by scan next week - I'm wondering if I'll need another to confirm if he's flipped or not!!

Callie so glad you are not beating yourself up over using formula! You have to be a bit kinder to yourself I think... no-one could have done more than you have done regarding bfeeding. You deserve a bloody medal girl!

Bethoo we can't really afford to move every 2 years! That is why we are always skint! We'll have to stay where we are now for at least 3! Unfortunately I'm already getting itchy feet and we've only been here 8 months! I fancy Australia!!!

Leo my DS is sweating slightly too that this one would come on his b'day which is the 7th. He's over the moon that I may be having a section on the 1st.

mossy you were clearly a child genius. My mil insists that dh was POTTY TRAINED at 6 months. This completely flies in the face that he wasn't even crawling by then according to her other stories - I never have the guts to take her on about it!

Foxy best of luck with scan - have you been talking severely to your placenta??

Finally - just informing you all that the "Haven't you had that baby yet" brigade were out in force in playground today. Had lovely respite from it during half term but now it's back with a vengeance.

37+3 (boy)

muppetisacat · 19/02/2007 09:43

morrocco - couldn't feel skull at TOP of my ribs! That would mean he was climbing up my throat! Meant to say BOTTOM of ribs.!

Booboobedoo · 19/02/2007 09:44

Morocco: my Dad's birthday is March 7th, but as this baby is going to be his namesake he says he'll be happy to share his birthday too. Lovely.

I do actually have gypsy blood, but I hate moving.

Booboobedoo · 19/02/2007 09:44

Oops! All that was for Muppet

muppetisacat · 19/02/2007 09:44

morocco - also meant to say my breech was confirmed by scan LAST week - not next week. Perhaps if I do get another one they can scan my head to see if my brain has disappeared too.

muppetisacat · 19/02/2007 09:46

Boo - very romantic to have gypsy blood. Perhaps I should trace my family tree and see if I can find any!

Is your dad a dreamy piscean too?

Booboobedoo · 19/02/2007 09:49

Well, he spends a lot of time in his office pretending to work but really watching DVDs. Does that count?

eidsvold · 19/02/2007 09:50

have the itchy feet as well - since I left home at 17 to go to uni - the longest I Have been anywhere is 3 years although I have had this house for 14 years - have moved out and lived and worked elsewhere - including the UK and even then - whilst in the UK for 4 years lived in 3 different places.

Think moving is great - forces you not to hoard for too long. Every now and then I get the clean out bug here. We are here for who knows how long - long term anyway - are in the process of slowly renovating this place so will have it as we want it.

Hammock getting some use but not as much as i would like. Calendar is pretty busy from now until babe comes and even after.

rosylonginglily · 19/02/2007 10:04

If I go 5 days over as I have with the other 3 I will be having this one on my Dad's birthday.
I am on another planet at the moment. Heard this morning about horrific 3 train crash in Pakistan involving a Lahore train...knew dh, his mum and co were travelling to Lahore, so my heart sank into my stomach.

Was worrying about that in the toilet so on my way out I managed to catch the door on my foot so walked bang smack into the door and really banged my head hard. Felt the baby jump in response to my shock!

Sent a txt to dh and he says they are all ok, getting train to Lahore this evening. I think there will be delays and disruption. I'm only here physically...my head is in Pakistan!

Booboobedoo · 19/02/2007 10:06

Rosy: thank goodness your DH is ok.

muppetisacat · 19/02/2007 10:24

Rosy OMG we have no tv reception at the mo so i'd no idea about crash! Thank goodness your dh and mil are ok.

Poor you with your head - are you ok? Did you bang bump?

kiwibella · 19/02/2007 10:28

Rosy, relieved to hear that your family are ok. I haven't switched on the telly yet but I hope that there weren't many casualties.

I was five days late with MissE. If I do that this time - that will be hubs birthday which he is not too amused about sharing!!

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 19/02/2007 10:41

Booboo I've just had a really long rant on your thread!

Rosy I heard that on the news this morning but I thought they said the train was in India. Thank god your dh and mum are all right. How frightening for you, it's not what you need to hear right now is it!

Eids in the last seven years, since leaving home, I have lived in seven different homes, up here, and in Lewisham, London for a few years too. This is the first place we've bought, and I am determined we will not move again. Ever. It's two bedrooms, so if/when we have another kid I've told dh we're getting a loft extension!!

I think my rant the other day about getting up to answer the door has worked. Darth told me to sit down before and that he would get the post!

OP posts:
rosylonginglily · 19/02/2007 10:47

I didn't bang the bump so it's funny how the baby jumped.
Anyway I'm much calmer now as I've had a cuppa and a chat with my sis.
She's going to make me vegetarian lasagne next week for my birthday and there's a small chance that dh might even be back with me then.
I want him back annoying me so I have something to post on your really funny thread Booboo! I bet it ends up on the front page
