We maxed out our last thread before starting a new one.
I'm not savvy like kitkat so can't post our list either! Hopefully there will be some ba's before this thread is completed.

oriana I have health visitor coming Monday lunchtime. Monday morning we have the plasterer in...

Londonmamabychance · 16/11/2016 23:08

stripey my NCT class which I took with first baby was rubbish too, but we all managed to chat in the breaks and exchanged numbers at the end and set up an what's app group. Then it was all about being active in the group and taking initiative to meet, it was a bit slow at first, but My first child is now 2 and I'm still in touch with 4 out of the 5 in he group (one moved away) and see them regularly! And during mat leave we met up around every other week and texted loads of messages about tiny worries to high chair advice to each other. Hope you meet some nice people in your group Smile

Am a bit down today as we live in he 5th floor and the lift has been out of order for more than a month.
Today the repair guys came and they told me that hey won't be able to fix the lift for weeks yet, and that it needs complete replacing, but the company managing the building won't do that (renting from private landlord so not much we can do), so it's likely to break very soon again. Just can't face the rest of pregnancy without a lift, carrying DD who refuses to walk up when she's tired after nursery, and once the baby is here, potentially having to carry both of them Shock and can't move as we're planning to move to my home country by April, moving somewhere else for so short is just not feasible. GrrrrrAngry

Londonmamabychance · 16/11/2016 23:13

dux ah okay so you're white far along then, in the safe zone if baby should decide to come Smile I just read somewhere that you can choose to have a natural birth even if baby does not turn around?

SouthDownsSunshine · 16/11/2016 23:49

I really don't like this stage of pregnancy. I can't sleep, too hot, baby is wiggling on my bladder and I've got what feels like sore period pains. It's not contractions as it's continuous, just painful enough to keep me awake. I wish I had a ball so could lean against it.

London that sounds really stressful! Can you put any pressure on the management company to get the lift fixed sooner?

AppleMagic · 16/11/2016 23:55

dux and stubble both dc1 and 2 were back to back and turned during labour. Neither of my labours were "natural" because I was induced for medical reasons but both were pretty quick even though I was on my back on bed the whole time (8 and 6 hours respectively) so I don't think back to back babies are always problematic.

south when I was at maternity triage yesterday they said not to worry about calling in until I was in active labour (which they have said is at least 10 contractions in an hour). I think (here in the US at least) they don't try to stop labour after 34 weeks so maybe that's why they're not bothered. I managed to get a nap this afternoon and everything has pretty much stopped so maybe just (another) false alarm.

Bumplovin · 17/11/2016 00:05

tipboov I also get hungry I ate so much before the diabetes diagnosis but being limited to certain food groups im eating much less, Id put on 1 1/2 stone by 22 weeks and by 28 weeks had put on a bit more, then lost 5lb at diagnosis and haven't gained since so I now weigh the same as I did at 22 weeks despite my humongous bump. Im on metformin now which helps me be able to eat bigger portions and a few more carbs with each meal

Popskipiekin · 17/11/2016 04:53

Ah morning morning all! Sorry I've been away from the thread for so long - work got manic in my last days there, was working till gone midnight at home to finish up. "Last" day was yesterday but I'll be doing more wfh till end of week I expect. And then - feet up?? I'm 36+4 and no signs whatsoever. Baby pretty comfy in there for now. Hope everyone managing to cope ok with aches, pains, sleep deprivation etc. DH has just got a new job - yay! - but this means he's not actually entitled to take any paternity leave :( he's going to chat to them about it, see if they will let him maybe delay his start date.

Bumbleclat · 17/11/2016 06:43

Oh pregnancy and hanging a cold is quite a trial isn't it!? Enough to make me bring forward my ML date, Ineas going to to stop work at 39-40 weeks now I'm going to stop at 37 weeks which is in 2 weeks time maybe even 36 weeks.

It's the sleep deprivation that makes everything really difficult (when teaching a class of 30 4-7 year olds full time)

I had no idea this last trimester would be so gruelling and physically difficult.

Anyway enough moaning from me.

Baby is kicking really strong and as she's my first I'm getting quite mystified as to how something that feels so huge is going to come out of me eek!

I hope you're all feeling good :)

barkingtreefrog · 17/11/2016 06:53

south have you got a Decathlon near you? My ball was £7.99 I think, don't think I'd have managed without it!!

I moved into the spare room last night and slept a lot better. Still got up to go to the toilet and was in lots of pain each time I turned over, but for some reason didn't lie awake for hours afterwards each time. Fingers crossed this wasn't a fluke!!!

London our nct class all swapped numbers after the second class at the weekend (we just did the essentials 1.5 day one) and we've now got a WhatsApp group for the women and another for the men. The women arranged to meet up next week but one of them was admitted to hospital until the birth yesterday and the other is being admitted on Sunday!! Two down already! Neither are having babies yet, just being closely monitored. Unless they come early I think I'm likely to be the first.

Growth scan yesterday showed she's still on 90th percentile and weighs around 7lb. C section is now 30th November as there were no slots available on 2nd Dec!! That's less than two weeks!!!

StubbleTurnips · 17/11/2016 07:23

apple positive b2b stories are what I need Smile Was induced with DD and had a long labour with her, ended up forceps after 36hrs as she wouldn't budge. It's good to know it's not always like that!

Starting walking today as I'm on leave, taking DD to run pre baby errands and sort things out - then a dog walk this afternoon.

Nojo82 · 17/11/2016 07:30

pop my DH isnt entitled to paternity leave either as he only changed jobs in june. His boss knows the score, that he will have to go off with no notice and he us allowed to take annual leave. He will prop only take a week..

Hats off to anyone that is still working.. My maternity officially starts today although ive been off sick for 9 weeks now..
My excema seems to be returning, and of course its in my feet. Cant bloody reach them to give them a good old scratch..

StubbleTurnips · 17/11/2016 07:34

Nojo I'm still working, have external auditors in all next week so finish next Friday. Can't bloody wait!

duxb · 17/11/2016 07:54

London yes - out of danger zone. Midwife even suggested I have sex now to try and sour labour on.....

Apple thankyou for a positive birth story. I'll take whatever pain meds etc I need but ideally, wanted to avoid a section or an epidural. But what needs to be will be. All I can find online is horrid tales of 36+ hours pushing and women being that exhausted intervention of some sort has been required.

I've got a tilted cervix and was told by a nurse administering a smear that often, labour straightens them out, which I'll admit is part of the reason I'm keeping everything crossed for being able to avoid a section.

stripeyorangesocks71 · 17/11/2016 09:44

London thanks I will try and get chatting with the others in the group at the next session a bit more! It was so badly organised yesterday and they didn't encourage much talking or anything. Feeling a bit lost and on my own with the whole pregnancy tbh! Although I do like reading what you guys are all up to on this thread. Maybe I could join the fb group too - how do I do that?

Still in two minds about a sleepyhead. The reviews seem good and if it helps baby to sleep then I'm all for that. Just the cost is quite steep for something that isn't going to last all that long! Anyone else got one / different make? Or even used one previously?

SouthDownsSunshine · 17/11/2016 09:55

dux I'm afraid a vaginal delivery with dd didn't help straighten my cervix.

stripey I went for a babymoov cosydream for £30. Much cheaper and hopefully does a similar job.

stripeyorangesocks71 · 17/11/2016 10:02

South thanks, I'll take a look!

goinggrey1978 · 17/11/2016 10:36

SouthDownsSunshine, I'm so glad I'm not the only one that couldn't sleep last night, I was soo hot, uncomfortable and then bubble was fidgeting as well, not sure if some of it was excitement as yesterday me and my parents put together the travel system and it looks lovely, so glad I chose a bright colour and also glad I chose that travel system!! It's also good that we all went together to test drive that travel system in the store as my mum still remembers how to operate it too, was very pleased at how big the shopping basket is and how easy it is to put together with the carrycot top or the car seat, I think it was an excellent idea us all going together to test drive it before I bought it all!! I have lots of jobs to finish off today and will try and keep busy so I don't fall asleep too!!

goinggrey1978 · 17/11/2016 10:47

Nojo82, are you sure the itchy on your feet is eczema?? As I'm currently being monitored for a pregnancy and liver condition, can't remember what it's called that causes itching on your belly, palms of hands and soles of feet, I have cream but can only use twice a day and also weekly blood tests as it can show up in your blood and then you have to be induced by 37/38 weeks, it goes away after birth!

Londonmamabychance · 17/11/2016 10:55

Thanks for the sympathy, South I've mailed my landlord and made a formal complaint to the company that manages the building, so still have a bit of hope. Also just got a message from a girl who owns her flat and who I met on the stairs and gently suggested to her she should try to get all the leaseholders together, and she said now she's trying to get in touch with them all and asked for my landlords details! Yay.

To everyone who can't sleep, I've been sleeping better after I completely cut out any caffeine dying the day, but
Perhaps you've all already done that.

stripey you can ask us in here anything! Smile but that's no substitute for having RL mums around, so I hope you magnate to get chatting to others at the NCT class. In my class, first of
All I thought some
Of the others were not on my wavelength, but in the end it turned out we were all just nervous, and we're now all good friends. Also,
I met loads of people by going to baby activities like baby swimming, baby music, baby massage and local children centres etc. if you haven't already, maybe look up groups in your area, maybe there's a Facebook group or sometimes mumsnet or net mums answer rise groups. Getting
Out of the house to groups in the early days saved my sanity, as Id just moved to a new area in London and knew no one and had no family around.

Londonmamabychance · 17/11/2016 10:56

*advertise not answer rinse

Bigfam · 17/11/2016 11:07

I hate all these niggly pains too south I should be well used to what the start of labour feels like but I still catch myself thinking sometimes 'ohhh could this be it....'
I'll be 'full term' as of tomorrow ((nudge nudge little lady)) Grin

Thirded bigfam, so frustrating. I go from being adamant that this baby is going to make a move in the next week or so to convinced that I'm going to be pregnant forever more.

Talking of pains - I have developed really painful carpal tunnel in one of my hands, apparently this is possible during pregnancy (another joyful symptom, yey!) the tip of my middle finger has now been numb for 2 days - anyone have any advice / remedies?

Popskipiekin · 17/11/2016 11:38

Oh no happydays - I got carpal tunnel really badly last time and had to have an operation when DS was 2 months old as it didn't get better by itself. I was assessed with some sort of electro-stimulus machine (??) and they said it was so severe I would have to have the nerve released (or something). I had physio to try to avoid op and this can help in some cases. There is also some kind of injection which can work. Have you been to gp and formally diagnosed? I would get yourself some good wrist supports in the meantime.
Nojo sorry your DH is in same position. Good that they are happy for him to take immediate AL when baby is here.

SolomanDaisy · 17/11/2016 11:44

happyday, I have carpal tunnel and the midwife recommended strapping a spoon to my palm at night to stop my wrist bending and pinching the nerve. I then got a specific hand support thing. Neither made much difference, it's just starting to get better now nearly four weeks after DD was born.

duxb · 17/11/2016 11:56

South - damn. I've been viewing that as a potential silver lining. Grin
