We maxed out our last thread before starting a new one.
I'm not savvy like kitkat so can't post our list either! Hopefully there will be some ba's before this thread is completed.

I had this last night rain my back was aching (like period pains) but I kept getting on/off pains at the side of my stomach. Thought it was labour, but gradually fizzled out Sad
Keep an eye on the pattern and intensity, if worried call labour ward.

That's great news Kitkat Smile

Sorry I should have typed that she was initially on the 7th centile, not 9th! Fat fingers!

SouthDownsSunshine · 26/11/2016 10:45

Good growing baby kitkat! That's really good :)

Baby Sunshine is also packing on the pounds, well, she's gained 29g in 2 days! Which is pretty good for week 0. She is doing really well, getting more alert each day. She still gets very tired, 5 minutes of trying to breastfeed at 6am meant she slept through her nappy change and feed at 9am. But that's ok if she's putting all her energy into growing.

Any suggestions about what to wear post c section and after tummy has reduced? I've been wearing over the bump leggings but they're now too lose, and normal jeans would be too tight across the scar.

NurseRosie, congratulations on your new bundle!
how much did he weigh??

NurseRosie · 26/11/2016 12:41

He was born on the 13th and weighed 7lb 1oz.
My waters broke on the Friday night but the ward thought it was incontinence, even though it was pink, and wouldn't see me until the next day. I had to stay in for observations as under 37 weeks and not in labour. Started to get contractions during Strictly on Saturday but the midwives kept saying it was pain because my waters had gone and not contractions as there was no pattern. They were getting stronger but wouldn't examine me due to infection risk. I insisted at 3am and was 6cm dilated. Baby born at 6am with only gas and air. It was all fast and a bit of a shock.
Glad to see other new arrivals being announced, congrats to all.
Back pain is a killer, I used a wheat bag which always eased it x

duxb · 26/11/2016 14:32

Congratulations nurse.

Thisisbonkers · 26/11/2016 15:13

Congratulations nurse!

I've been chopping firewood. Come on, baby! It'll be nice and warm!

goinggrey1978 · 26/11/2016 17:41

NurseRosie, wow that reall was fast!! A lovely weight though even though he was a little bit early!!
I keep getting period type pains on my right hand side and back pains on my left hand side, both are intermittent but both are annoying as each other, I had to go to sleep earlier just to take my mind off them!!

Chookchick · 26/11/2016 18:39

Congratulations Nurse! Bet you are so glad you insisted. Not great when the professionals get it wrong. Happy to hear you are both doing well

Bumplovin · 27/11/2016 05:07

Keep thinking only 4 more nights of this pregnancy insomnia then remembering there will be a little baby keeping me awake instead, although she will be cuter than my bathroom trips!

daisychain07 · 27/11/2016 07:10

Hi ladies! Congratulations on the new arrivals. Just after some advice, I have been up loads during the night with itchy hands and feet. I have googled it and looks like it needs checking but should I wait to see gp tomorrow or ring the midwife today do you think? X

Calicocurtains · 27/11/2016 07:45

I would ring the midwife today definitely.

Has anyone else had sort of dried milk in their nipples that you Canaan pick out?
I had quite itchy nips last night so squeezed them so that I could get some relief from itchiness then I noticed they had little yellowish bits in them which could be peeled away easily... Is this normal?
Thanks

StubbleTurnips · 27/11/2016 08:09

Ring the midwife daisy

That's Normal Calico, you may be able to hand express milk / colostrum now.

Nojo82 · 27/11/2016 09:43

Daisy i would ring. I ended up in on fri for the same. Had bloods taken, must have been ok as i didn't get a call back but ive to go tomorroe for fasting bloods and liver scan. If i have oc then they will induce early at 37/38 weeks.

daisychain07 · 27/11/2016 12:48

Thanks, I rang this morning and went in to be monitored and have bloods taken. Everything fine on the monitor so just wait for bloods now. Really struggling with heart burn, to the point that it is making me really sick. 4 weeks to go, come on baby!!!!!!x

goinggrey1978 · 27/11/2016 16:41

advice needed!!
trying to finish packing my hospital bag, i have the little travel formula pots, but how do i know if i need to put 3 scoops or 4 scoops in each section?? it says weight up to 7lbs 6ozs for 3 scoops and over 8lbs for 4 scoops??
help please!!

Bigfam · 27/11/2016 17:23

I'd go with 4, if it's too much for baby you can always discard it.
Have you looked at the ready made bottles? They're really handy for whilst you're in hospital.

Minispringroll · 27/11/2016 17:37

Congratulations. :) So many babies already... Smile

goinggrey I've got some pre-made formula and some Mam sterilising bottles in my bag. Would that be an option? (I think you can also get pre-made bottles, which are already made up and sterilised...but we are using Hipp and they are really expensive.)

daisy My heartburn has been really bad but seems to have improved a little. I still get it during the night for some reason. Confused I've got Gaviscon next to my bed and it seems to be helping.
I've got eczema and it tends to flare up when I'm...hm..."emotionally unstable"? Grin It's stress-related and has been cropping up quite a bit during the pregnancy. I've got hydrocortisone cream which helps with the itching and the midwife was fine with me continuing to use it.

The little alien inside my tummy is continuing to bounce around. It's not comfortable at all. I honestly don't know how he can still have so much space and roll from one side to the other so often. I think he's dropped and I'm getting a lot of pressure "down below". I'm also getting some weird stabby pains in my lady bits. Is that normal? They go away after a few minutes but just not comfy. Could they be "stretching pains"?
38 weeks today and he seems very much set on staying put. Hmm Don't appear to have any of the signs that anything will be happening anytime soon. Sad

OrianaBanana · 27/11/2016 17:45

Yes stabby pains are perfectly normal ('fanny daggers') as long as they don't persist.

Just finished the labour bag (and the 'possibly staying in a few days' bag and the 'extra baby clothes' bag), so I feel sure Mabel will now stay put for another 5 weeks (37 weeks + 2 here). Confused

goinggrey1978 · 27/11/2016 18:02

Bigfam, thanks why didn't i think of that, more is better than less!! what a wally i am and it may well be the first time mum and haven't got a clue problem too!!
i'm not having a good day, this zombie beached whale can't wait for bedtime, seeing as a had a dreadful night, with back ache, period pains, far too hot, terrible indigestion and heartburn, couldn't get comfy at all with pins and needles in various parts of my body and bubble was fidgeting like mad for at least 3 hours as well!!
Minispringroll, i looked at the ready made bottles but they don't do SMA comfort in those, unless i was looking in the wrong places of course!! think Bigfam has come up with the perfect solution!! now going back to the kitchen to add another scoop to each section!!
i'm also really itchy with eczema too Minispringroll, especially on my hands, i think it's central heating burn, plus my fingers feel like big fat hot sausages, so glad i took my thumb ring off yesterday as advised to by the midwife last week, although i now feel pretty naked as least i don't have to get it cut off now!!
so glad i have the baby and thyroid consultant tomorrow, as i spoke to the midwife about how i go about getting a sweep or started off and she advised me that they can only do sweeps before 40 weeks at my main hospital, basically my colitis is terrible now that i really can't be far from a toilet and can only drive for half an hour before i need to go again, going between 6 and 8 times and that includes during the night as well and is not included the thousands of wee stops too!! as i'm not sleeping for long enough chunks my body is having real difficulty maintaining my colitis and repairing the constant inflammation to my bowel is just not happening!!
so tomorrow can go 2 ways, i cry at the consultant through shear exhaustion or i get really cross until they give me what i need!!

Bumplovin · 27/11/2016 18:12

We've got 12 mini bottles of ready made, but hospital asked us to bring two bottles a bottle brush and powdered formula im not sure why they don't like ready made but ive just packed both

Nojo82 · 27/11/2016 18:18

I think our hospital provide ready made bottles for baby. Well they did with my others and i dont think thats changed.

Minispringroll · 27/11/2016 18:21

going I don't know what the difference is between the SMA ones. They do seem to offer SMA Pro in ready-made bottles.
We've got these little Hipp packages. I think I just can't be arsed to mess around with powder and heating up water and all that kind of stuff in the first few days...Grin If it turns out that breastfeeding is simply not going to work for me, I'm sure we can still switch to powder, which should be a lot cheaper than the ready-made stuff.
I took my wedding ring off a few days ago. It was getting rather tricky. Hmm

Minispringroll · 27/11/2016 18:23

Bump and Nojo, they didn't mention anything about bottles or formula when we went for our hospital tour. Seemed very keen on breastfeeding. Hmm

goinggrey1978 · 27/11/2016 19:17

thanks all, yes they were heavy on the breast feeding at my hospital tour, also at the birthing workshop and the feeding class i've been on, i'm not saying a definitely won't give it a try but too much medication and too many medical conditions aren't convincing me that its a good idea atm, so we'll see!!
we were shown into the milk kitchen and told they supply sterilising bags, think they go in the microwave, not really sure, but you need to bring your own milk and bottles!!
