Morning all.............

This weeks resolution for me is to get off my bum and organise my life.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oooh, coconut snowballs. My mikado bikkies have coconut on them. Just ordered a chinese. Oink!

Bump gets pretty heavy when I walk. I did run for a bus the other day and regretted it somewhat!

ShowOfHandsWithStubbleRash · 16/02/2007 21:39

Feckity bugger.

Am I allowed to say nasty things about animal charities?

You know how my little cat went missing 2 and a half weeks ago? Well I phoned the RSPCA, all rescue shelters, notified the Missing Pets Bureau, put up flyers and posters etc etc. Just had a phone call from a very nice woman who lives about a mile from us who has seen my poster and said that 2 weeks ago a poster went up outside her house saying a cat matching our cat's description (same age, sex, size, colour, breed etc) was knocked down by a car on our road and handed into the RSPCA for treatment. She said that the poster had said 'the cat is fine, please call us or the RSPCA if this is your pet'.

Grr. We gave the RSPCA details, a photo etc and asked them to keep us in mind should a young female tabby from this area be handed in to them. So...

I am holding my breath until tomorrow when I can phone up and ask if they have my cat there. What if it isn't her? What if they deny all knowledge? What if they've rehomed her?

Oh I'm all of a tizz.

Been cycling up and down various lanes looking for these posters that the lady was telling us about, but they must have been taken down so I can't find out who put them up and ask them to verify the story.

Oh please let the RSPCA have found her. My pregnant hormones can't deal with this!

And I think my belly button's turning inside out. Eugh.

Evening all

Just came on to say hope everyone has a good time at the meet tomorrow, think of us few that are stuck at home

Im another with a heavy bump, im already finding it easier to waddle than walk properly. The baby feels so low down sometimes its a wonder it doesnt fall out. My whole bump seems to be lower this time round as well. I look like i did when ds2 was engaged and my bump had dropped, wonder if its a sign i will have a quick labour lol (I can live in hope, cant I)

Did anyone watch Miracles in the Womb on C4 last night, it was mainly about multiple births but it was really good, lots of 4D images and insight into what is going on inside us right now, wasnt so keen on the birth footage, they showed what happens from the inside instead of the normal 'waiting for head to appear' outside shots you normally see on TV and it just looked very strange and made me feel sorry for the little babies having to go through all that . Tonight i watched another bloody baby programme, really must stop as im now starting to dread labour. I have a terrible fear of needles and hate the idea of a c-section too as im far too squeamish and so what did they have to show me tonight, yep you guessed it, epidurals, spinal blocks and a c-section, just what i wanted to see but for some reason i just couldnt turn over. It also went into detail about a lotus birth, id never heard of it but apparantly they are becoming more popular. Its where you leave your baby attached to the placenta until it drops off naturally, its supposed to help the baby stay calm. To me it looked horrible, the placenta was washed, dried, covered in salt and herbs (to dry it out and help it to smell nice) and then placed in a bag. When the cord dried out enough it just came away. Dont think its something i could consider doing though, if you want to move the baby you have to lug the placenta round with you at the same time, I guess its a good excuse to lay in bed all day but to me it seems too much hassle plus it looked disgusting. As far as im concerned once the baby is born the placenta can be chucked Not like my cousins who appeared on TV a few years ago eating placenta pate and other similar things (it wasnt even their placenta it came from a friends daughter yuk) Right now ive made myself feel sick just thinking about it im going to shut up

I cant believe its Friday night and im sat here talking about placentas, wheres all the booze and dancing i used to enjoy, must be getting old

LupinsBigLump · 16/02/2007 22:02

SOH Hope it is your moggy and she is well

Lol scooter - I am just a size 8 waiting to reappear in July - this is totally temporary

Anyone else getting thier dark line on the tummy - think mine is just starting to appear - belly button is defo stretching

Where is everyone its sooooooo quiet

LupinsBigLump · 16/02/2007 22:06

Pebble I couldnt do that lotus birth - bit too gross for me, I am dreading having a spinal - am not usuallytoo bad with needles but the thought of it in my spine makes me bit nervous - still that or another general and would like to see this little one into the world

I did watch the c4 thing last night, it was quite good - fasinating to see what our lo's are up to now

Pebblemum · 16/02/2007 22:07

SOH good luck with the RSPCA tomorrow, hope you finally get some good news in regards to your cat, and if it makes you feel better you can say anything you want about animal charities You did all the right things when your cat went missing and if it turns out they have had her all along then you have every right to be upset!!

LupinsBigLump · 16/02/2007 22:10

AprilMeadow can I have your email - got some pics for you xx

Pebblemum · 16/02/2007 22:16

Well ive been trying to convince myself that a c-section wouldnt be too bad, at least if its planned you know when your little one will be born instead of waiting for nature to take its course but its not working. Im now keeping my fingers tightly crossed that when i go for my scan at 32wks they say my placenta has moved well and truly out of the way and that there is a clear passage for this LO to travel down quickly, painlessly and effortlessly (esp on my part lol) I know this is my third and i should be totally calm at the thought of all that pain, walking around in agony for hours on end (lol)but I think being my third actually makes it worse, I know what to expect

MKG · 16/02/2007 22:17

Hey everyone!

I hate logging on to people talking about placenta eating! That is an image I didn't need.

For an update I'm still pissed at dh. He's was an ass last night, but this morning he was very sensitive and kind, but I'm still pissed and will be for a few days, just to see what happens.

I went to Toys R US today and they are having a sale on clothes. 50% off on clearance. I got ds a coat for next winter that was originally $45 for $13 and I got a sleeper for $4, but I forget the original price. I'm very proud of my sale finding ability. I know it's early for clothes for next year, but I like to shop the sales this year for next year. It just makes more sense.

It's still freezing on this side of the pond, but once March gets here it will be better (fingers crossed). Will be 26 weeks tomorrow, and am thrilled that I am entering the 3rd trimester officially.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

MKG · 16/02/2007 22:19

Pebble don't worry too much, and just remember that a planned C-section will go much better than an emergency section. Try to look on the bright side.

Do you have a date for your next ultrasound?

Pebblemum · 16/02/2007 22:36

Its not until 29th March so a while to go yet but I was just trying to think ahead. After the scan i will only have 8wks left to get my head around it if i need a c-section, hopefully i will be worrying for nothing. Im also not sure anymore if i want to find out the sex. Part of me thinks ive gone this long without knowing and it would be nice to have a suprise but then i think if i find out i can buy lots of nice things before its born, what a dilemma!!

I always look in the sales, i guess you could say its a hobby, one that dh hates of course. I can normally sniff out a bargain a mile off, have lost count of the number of times ive found things for £1. One year I bought a strapless black dress, black jacket to wear over the top and some shoes to match and it only came to £7 (the shoes were the most expenzive things and they were only £5)Only problem was I never wore it all, in fact the dress is still hung up in my wardrobe with the price tag attached

Hi there, back from seeing dh in panto as 'Gordon' the mute gorilla. Have a few pictures just need to make them smaller before i upload them - mainly for FSF - to have a giggle at. Was very good but i spent the first act totally stressed out. My sister (19yrs old) was babysitting, and i asked her NOT to come round before 7pm as i needed to get J in bed beforehand otherwise he would know i was going out (very intelligent for 22mths). So what did she do.... turned up at 6.50!!!!! DH had managed to escape without J noticing but after my sisters arrival he realised that he was missing. Screamed the house down when i put him to bed. I felt really bad leaving him in that state and was so with my sis as it was down to her! It took over an hour for her to get him to sleep.

Lupins - email is [email protected]

Loving the talk of placentas etc. I am addicted to the birth programmes even though they can make me wince! I am hoping for a simliar experience to last time. I tried g&a for a short time but it made me feel sick and didnt feel it worked (might have been coz i was in the birthing pool and it was quite warm in the room) then managed the rest without any pain relief. Not totally through choice - Epidural didnt arrive early enough. Was ok, infact it was the stitches that were the worst bit of the whole thing. for that i DID need G&A!

Really looking forward to the meet tomorrow. SOH - perhaps we could locate a KK shop and post one to you so that you feel at part of it all

Hi all,
Well clearly since im on here im not in London having a nice lunch with the May thread londoners as I should be.I had been on the train for 10 ins when dh called to say he had picked dd up and felt his back go and now couldnt move.So I had to get off and get the next one back.Arrived home to find him lying on the floor with dd asleep next to him.He literaly couldnt get up..Had to get our neighbour to help me lift him-dh is quite large and now he is on the bed groaning every time he has to move having taken as much ibuprofen as poss.

I do feel sorry for him.I do.Backs are horrid. But I had been so much looking forward to my first day out in ages and now im stuck here with him wanting drinks and things bought to him and DD being a total mardy bum.
He said, 'well when dd goes to sleep at least you can do some of your RMA now...'I didnt credit that with a reply.I am being horrid I know as its not his fault really, but really I am so cross..

scootermum · 17/02/2007 13:35

What a day! Been to the local RSPCA rescue shelter and had a conversation with weird beardy man who picked his nose the entire time I was talking to him. I think he was trying to tell me he hadn't got any cats matching our cat's description and claims that none have been brought in since Christmas. Gave me a number to ring to ask for any animal rescues carried out by the RSPCA in this area (which I obviously took from him very gingerly due to the copious amount of searching his fingers had been doing up his nose). Phoned the number and spoke to a very strange lady who couldn't pronounce my name for toffee (told you!) and kept calling me Rosha (eh?). She said that no cats have been picked up in this area. Rang the woman who gave us the tip-off and she said that a young, female tabby was injured by a car and was definitely collected by the RSPCA Animal Rescue van and the guy driving said that she would be kept by the RSPCA until claimed or would be rehomed in a couple of months if nobody came forward.

I've phoned the local RSPCA rescue department and am waiting for them to get back to me. Not holding my breath.

So where is this phantom cat? What was that man looking for up his nose? Who is Rosha? Why have I walked five miles today, made my bump ache and still appear to have no more information about my missing cat? What's wrong with the world?

OK, rant over. Sorry to bore you all with tales of my missing cat.

Scoot, just let me know if/when you're in the area and we can concoct a plan. Let me know what kind of thing you want to do- plenty to see/do if you fancy a jaunt or there's wandering/shopping/teashops for the more laidback, heavily pregnant woman.

lillaura · 17/02/2007 14:14

sorry to hear you didnt have any luck with the cat hunt - you poor thing. where are you guys from any way??

ShowOfHandsWithStubbleRash · 17/02/2007 14:21

I'm in Norfolk, originally from Derbyshire (Scoot's originally from Derbyshire too).

What about you? In fact, I don't know a whole lot about you... and on this thread we make it a habit of knowing far too much about each other.

Fill me in...

lillaura · 17/02/2007 14:33

living in bicester, oxfordshire, but originally from wiltshire!!!!!!! ask me wot ever u want hun

twelveyeargap · 17/02/2007 14:40

Also not having lunch with other preggy ladies. Not really their fault (won't bore you with the details), but DH rang PIL last night to find out what time they were arriving and they said... 10am. I had a nail appt at 10 and was planning to go to Waterloo straight after, see the others for an while and be back for about 2 or 3... Booo hooo.

Wailed to DH last night, "But what about my mumsnet meetup?" and he looked at me like I was mad. Took that to mean he'd be mortally offended if I buggered off.

Sorry about your DH Scooter. And really sorry you couldn't make it either. Since I'm N London, it's not beyond the realms of possibilty for me to head towards you or SOH for a mini-meet. Have something on (mainly antenatal stuff) most weekends in March, but certainly, I'm on leave from start April so can even do something midweek then. A train ride to Norfolk doesn't sound like a bad lot at all!

SOH - gross about the nose picking and about your moggie. I hope you find her soon.
