Just had a pre-bedtime conversation with DH re: the joys of pregnancy, sickness, bloating, random anxiety / panics for no reason, whether or not I smell of wee etc.
DH states the bleeding obvious 'well, it is easy for me!'. Hmm

LorrieJ · 19/11/2016 23:09

On coats, I'm going to stick with what I've got and chuck a woolie poncho over the top. No dry nipples here. Still bf'ing DD.

DizzyNorthernBird · 20/11/2016 06:56

My DP swears he gets nausea on the same days I feel rough. Apparently this is an actual thing for fathers!! Grin (he did send me a link but I can't remember what the condition is called) He said last night he'd felt sick all day, funnily enough it was one of the few days I was feeling a bit nauseous too!

DizzyNorthernBird · 20/11/2016 07:02

missis I'm going to tell everyone as soon as I've had my scan too. Goodness knows how I've got this far without blurting it out. I've got a friend coming over this week though and I plan to tell her now as she knew all about my testing when we were struggling to conceive. I'll find it difficult not to tell her!

Otherwise once I've got my scan date I'm going to tell my boss (probably the day before). After the scan I'll have to tell work anyway but I'm thinking that if anything goes wrong I'll need time off anyway so he may as well know. Not sure what to do about family, we'd planned to tell them on Xmas day but I don't know if I can hang on that long!

Maxcat12 · 20/11/2016 07:44

Scan tomorrow at 9am.....nervous/excited....emotions all over the place.
Have just woken to my usual routine 7am morning sickness.
Anyone on here had kids before....approx how long until sickness goes.....have been sick every day since week 3. 😩

flossie79 · 20/11/2016 07:57

Dizzy my DH has been the same, totally off his food when I haven't been feeling so good and he can normally finish his own and polish off whatever I leave aswell! I had been teasing him about coming out in sympathy with me, but didn't know it was an actual thing!

10 weeks today!

Mooseville · 20/11/2016 08:23

Tuesday can't come soon enough for the scan!

Out for drinks today with visiting friends so I will have to tell them! Can't wait to be able to tell people after Tuesday. Feels like I've known for ages!

Maxcat12 · 20/11/2016 08:39

Hey all
I do not mean to sound invasive but have my scan tomorrow and have just read that I will be offered a blood test plus nuchal translucency ultrasound scan to test for Down's syndrome.
Does anyone know if the nuchal translucency is just another scan or is it invasive and if so does it carry any risk? Thanks

Sixisthemagicnumber · 20/11/2016 08:58

the nuchal translucency is just part of the normal abdominal scan maxcat. Whilst the sonographer is doing the scan she measures the thickness of areas of the foetus neck and that is pretty much all there is to it. Nothing extra or invasive to worry about.

MoonlightMojitos · 20/11/2016 09:09

maxcat have you not had a booking appointment yet? They should go through that with you when you see the midwife and ask if you actually want it, I was given the choice. But like six said it's just part of the scan, then you can have the bloods too as a more accurate test.

Ooh tea do share! We will be finding out later on anyway!

I'm going to tell the directors at work tomorrow.... so nervous. Then tell colleagues the following week I think, keep our little secret for a while longer! I'll tell family this week too (my mum and brother already know).

Passmethecrisps · 20/11/2016 09:23

Was it max who asked about sickness? With dd1 I had nausea but no actual vomiting until about 14 weeks. I am now 9 weeks and it seems To be heading the same way.

Also with dd1 she was sitting wrongly for the Nuchal fold measurement and I didn't bother with the blood tests. At least I don't remember bothering as I don't remember getting any stats back. As has been said, as king as baby is lying correctly then it is just part of the normal scan.

I also feel that if the scan goes badly then I will have time off hence me being less secretive than maybe I was first time around. I don't mind telling people but what I don't want is them then passing it on. I don't want to lose control of it just in case.

I am having a paranoid day today. I need to chant "today I am pregnant"

haveacupoftea · 20/11/2016 09:32

mojitos i think (if skull theory is correct) that you might be having a boy! Thats just a guess though obviously Smile

MoonlightMojitos · 20/11/2016 09:56

tea I wouldn't be suprised, dp's family is all boys so he's convinced there's no way it could be a girl. I'm secretly hoping it is just to prove him wrong lol and to add a girl to a family with generations of boys!

firefly23 · 20/11/2016 10:33

Wow everyone having their scans! Exciting! Mine is a week tomorrow. Can anyone tell me how long it takes for results of screening bloods to come back? I mean the ones they'll take at the scan...

Dragon5000 · 20/11/2016 15:07

So.... Bit of fun
Dh is 1 of 2 boys, he went adhd had 2 girls with his ex , his brother has 2 boys, my brother has 2 girls. We have 1 boy so we reckon we're going to break trend and have a girl or stick with trend and have a boy?!

And very flaky nipples here too I remember it from before too

12+4 or 13

RoseBud2016 · 20/11/2016 16:01

Dragon I think you'll stick with trend and have another boy! Smile

I just vomited!!! First episode of pregnancy vomit! Is it strange that I am so happy about this?! GrinBlush

Maxcat12 · 20/11/2016 17:19

Thanks for your replies
Mojitos I have had a booking app my midwife just said they can test for Down syndrome at the dating scan if we would like to, but she didn't ask for an answer. I was so overwhelmed with all the questions I forgot to ask how they test.

I sitting here eating sea salted crisps as it is the only thing I can stomach to eat everything is making me feel sick that and my nerves are in pieces about tomorrow!!
Good luck with all your scans this week ladies.

JunebabyT · 20/11/2016 17:30

Hi all

Haven't been on the thread for a while and loads to catch up on. Lovely scan pics!

Tomorrow is scan day for me at 12 + 4, exciting and will make it feel more real!

We told DP's parents today as we thought it seemed silly to wait until after the scan when we were seeing them today for Sunday lunch and not sure when we will meet up next, as it's usually every few weeks. They were really pleased for us :) and luckily didn't seem too fussed that I will be pregnant at our wedding!

Bought my first pair of maternity jeans yesterday. Not strictly necessary yet as just bloated and no real bump (it's our first) but they are soooo comfortable Grin

Vegan, I've PMed you for the FB details.

LorrieJ · 20/11/2016 17:33

Hi Rosebud, it's not strange at all, it's one of the little steps that helps reinforce and reassure us that we are pregnant 😊. Hopefully you won't be impacted too greatly so the novelty wears off!
Maxcat are there any leaflets in your notes? There may be something about the different elements of the combined test in there. Xx

Maxcat12 · 20/11/2016 17:43

Well strange thing is my midwife took all my notes off me.
I had my 16 weeks obstetric app through which asks for me to bring the notes.
Should she not have taken them?
I have scan tomorrow so will chase it up

MumofthreeandBean · 20/11/2016 17:51

Guessing the sex is great! I am from 3 generations of only girls on mums side. Dh is from 3 generations of boys on his dad's side.
So far we've had 1 girl and 2 boys 😊

Today I had to stand in a field watching ds2 play football, cold and wet and every time I coughed I had to cross my legs so I didn't wet myself!!😂
Managed to hide my bump in my coat but that's not happening for much longer!!

MumofthreeandBean · 20/11/2016 17:53

max you should keep your notes right through pregnancy - better chase midwife up xx

Maxcat12 · 20/11/2016 18:01

Thanks mumofthree will do tomorrow.....after the scanSmile

KittyVonCatsington · 20/11/2016 18:09

Unusual for midwife to take your notes max as you will need to take them with you to GP/hospital etc. evert time you go. Oh well! Am sure there was a reason!

The smell of mulled wine is just too Christmassy!! I miss it!!

mrspage1985 · 20/11/2016 18:39

Evening all, shattered this end after a looooong day out down in London. Winter wonderland and meal out, lovely but being on the train at 8am and not back till midnight has taken its toll, I'm shattered today.

Also feeling quite emotional today - watched strictly and cried sobbed hysterically when Danny Mack performed as he was so good and then again when his scores came in! Also at the John Lewis advert because it's just so lovely!!! I'm not a cryer normally so my hubby is very thrown off!!!!!
Hope all are well xxxx
