Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 48th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 47th grads thread is here

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 61st outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread <a class="break-all" href="//onwww.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/2588689-we-re-still-teething-trying-to-wean-and-our-babies-just-won-t-go-to-sleep-when-we-re-trying-to-js-for-another-one-it-s-just-mumming-no-11" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates.

I'm not sure where I read you were supposed to wash baby stuff before putting on baby. Maybe that's an old wives tale. Either way, my DH is about 1/3rd of the way through all the bedding, muslins, clothes etc. Its more stuff than you realise!

Canters15 · 05/12/2016 13:51

It was really odd London as I didn't develop it until the third trimester and it came out of the blue. I was v nauseous in the first 16 weeks and lost a fair bit then, but was 5lb over pre preg weight at 34 weeks. Didn't weigh myself again until he arrived as it was stressing me out, but I'm now 10lb under pre preg weight at three weeks post partum. Not sure if there is any more weight to come off, I seemed to retain a lot of fluid towards the end.

I never washed any baby clothes, I'm a terrible mother!

LondonGirl83 · 05/12/2016 14:21

I'm sure its an old wives tale! Just don't tell my DH as he does all the laundry in the house and has already done two loads of baby stuff :)

I didn't start putting weight on until 16 weeks when my nausea went and since then have put on about 9lbs (which is still 7lbs below pre-pregnancy weight). I'm a bit worried as at my last growth scan my daughter's abdominal circumference dropped from 90th percentile to 50th!

My consultant wasn't immediately worried as the margin of error at the earlier scans is so tiny that even a small difference in measurement can have a big impact on the percentiles and all her other measurements are consistently 50th percentile and moving along the chart as expected.

However, when I go back next Monday (the last scan was last week Monday), if the abdominal circumference has dropped below 50th percentile I'll need to be monitored much more closely (at least once a week) and will have to deliver by 37 weeks at the latest as it would suggest the baby isn't thriving.

The consultant says my weight gain wouldn't be responsible for this but I'm still trying to eat more but its hard because now the baby is crushing my stomach so I can't eat big meals without feeling ill! Its such a minefield, I'm just hoping all is well at the next scan and I can stop worrying about it!

Canters15 · 05/12/2016 18:00

It's such a worry isn't it? We had similar concerns- fundal height 4cm behind what it should be, and scans predicted a small but in proportion 10th centile baby weighing about 6 and a half pounds. Couldn't believe it when R came out at 7 lb 13! Which is a roundabout way of saying scans only tell part of the story, I'm sure all will be well.

My milk monster has put on 1lb 3oz since last week!! Hurrah for my boobs!!

MyBlackCat · 05/12/2016 20:29

Geez canters you're doing well with the feeding. I was pleased that F put on 7oz in a week but he was still only 6lb 6oz when last weighed. I had a scan 5 days before birth which estimated weight to be 6lb 2, he was born at 6lb 1 so they do get it right some of the time Smile

LondonGirl83 · 06/12/2016 10:12

Canters most of the people I know who have had growth scans had a similar experience to you. They seem to be highly inaccurate regarding weight most of the time!

Canters15 · 06/12/2016 10:52

To be fair black he has fed pretty much constantly for the last week, so am relieved to see that reflected on the scale- must have been having a mega growth spurt! I was worried about supply because he was feeding so much- seems silly now!

Newborn baby clothes getting tight now Shock

NameChange30 · 07/12/2016 19:53

Canters Glad to hear mini canters is doing so well Smile

Sock and London Belated thanks for your answers to my questions about feeding! Meant to say so at the time and forget.

Today was a good day, I had an extra scan (because I'd signed up for a research study), baby is doing well and we got to see some 3D images including a glimpse of his little face Smile I was always freaked out by 3D images before but I must be biased this time around! Grin

Feeling exhausted though... officially in my third trimester now and I think the second trimester energy peak has worn off!

Hope you're all doing well.

LondonGirl83 · 13/12/2016 13:24

Hi ladies,

I had a follow up scan yesterday and my daughter is back up to the 95th percentile. The consultant said it might have been the position she was in last time that through the measurement off. I personally think she had a massive growth spurt as the last two weeks I felt abs stretching really painfully for the first time this pregnancy. Either way, she's fine.

In fact, now I'm more worried about her size. At 30+3 she already weighs 1.9 kilos (4.2 lbs). An average baby only ways around 3lbs at this stage. She is apparently both very tall (to be expected as I'm 5'9 and DH is 6'3) and very, very chubby. I think her abdominal measure was above the 97th percentile Confused

I'm still below my pre-pregnancy weight (I lost 13 pounds due to morning sickness and have gained back about 11) so I'm pretty shocked but pleased she is so chubby :)

I have a bad back though so to protect my pelvic floor my consultant is discussing c-section options with me. So much to figure out :)

Canters15 · 13/12/2016 14:33

Glad all going well name. How many weeks are you now?

London, glad no worries about abdo circumference. If you have any questions about c section please ask- I do think electives are a very different (more positive!) Experience to emergency sections.

All going well over here. R has put on another pound this week and is now on 75th centile (was 50th at birth). The feeding is starting to get a tiny bit easier, and I am making a lot of use of the sling to get things done!

NameChange30 · 13/12/2016 17:10

London
Glad your scan went well and baby is big and healthy! Smile Good luck deciding which birth option to go for.

Canters
Thank you! I'm 29 weeks now. In the last few weeks I've suddenly started feeling much more pregnant (bump has grown some more!) and tired. Started antenatal classes and they're 7-9.30pm which is a challenge to say the least!
Glad R is doing well and feeding's getting a bit easier Smile

Pisghetti · 16/12/2016 09:26

Morning everyone. Mind if I join in?
Name: Pis
Age:36
DC: 15 year old DS and 1 year old DD (she's a JS baby - I'm a grad from a while back)

Just got a BFP so I'm about 4 weeks with #3. Due August 22nd. Not exactly planned but could hardly be called a surprise either. DP and I can be spirited JSers.....

Just had a read through. My Costa drink of choice is a Black Forest Hot Chocolate. Congrats to all the viroids that have done a baby recently! I'm on the FB JS group so may have seen some of you on there.

London just a quick thought from looking at your list - I'm not sure what you have in mind for a baby carrier but different brands of carrier are like marmite and lots can't be used until the baby is a bit older. I really wouldn't splash out on the type of carrier with buckles until the baby is here and you can try out different brands at a sling library to see what works best for you. In the interim a stretchy wrap would be a good investment (million and one YouTube vids on how to use them) although for any type you may have to wait a couple of weeks following a CS. It can get addictive. I have a ridiculous collection of woven wraps and my pram only ever saw the light of day for buggy fit! DD is reluctant to be wrapped at the moment so many are in temporary retirement Xmas Sad

LondonGirl83 · 16/12/2016 09:34

Pisghetti my husband and I went to try out slings and carriers (with a weighted babydoll) at John Lewis ages ago when I was about 14 weeks pregnant.

We've bought a caboo for me to use during the infant stage but because I have a very bad back, my husband will do most of the carrying even early on. He has already picked out the one that fits him best the Lillebebe after trying on about half a dozen.

We didn't know this at the time but apparently they are particularly well suited to tall people (my DH is 6ft 3) so we are comfortable making the purchase before the baby arrives.

Pisghetti · 16/12/2016 09:56

I didn't know John Lewis did that! What a fab idea. I've heard great things about the Lillebaby brand but it's one I haven't actually tried myself. I'm not especially tall though and neither is DP. DS is taller than both of us put together but would probably rather gouge his own eyes out with a teaspoon that risk being
seen carrying a little sibling in a sling Grin

LondonGirl83 · 16/12/2016 11:06

Haha! Yes, we were in John Lewis looking at other baby stuff and spotted that they did that. Much more convenient than a sling library as the closest one to us is miles away and only available at odd hours during the week as its run by volunteers.

I'm not sure if all John Lewis's have it but the big one in central London does

Canters15 · 16/12/2016 11:19

Welcome back pis!

Babywearing has literally saved my life. I tend to use a stretchy wrap in the house and an ergo baby outdoors. Love both. The ergo came from JL, we were set on it so just picked it up but there was another couple been shown stuff by a sales assistant and think they had the weighted baby.

Pisghetti · 16/12/2016 13:30

Thanks Canters!

I'm a huge bw fan. DP works away during the week so it's the only way things like shopping can happen! Although these days she prefers standing in the trolley as if she's riding a chariot and throwing eggs at passers by to being in the sling....

ChatEnOeuf · 17/12/2016 07:35

Welcome back Pis!

Also a big BW, though DD hasn't wanted to be carried for over two years

I'm flipping between feeling good (dare I even suggest a hint of 'glowing' - one of the nurses suggested I was), and a tearful/hormonal mess. DH doesn't know if he's coming or going. Family trip to scan next week, which will hopefully be lovely - DD's first live views of baby :)

Pisghetti · 18/12/2016 08:48

Aww is she excited?

Canters15 · 18/12/2016 23:19

Brilliant image there pis!

Chat am so thrilled for you, and cant believe you've achieved the mythical pregnancy glow. Are you finding out gender?

R is 5 weeks tomorrow and it's all suddenly started to get a bit easier, mainly because the cluster feeding has stopped at last. Sleep has improved too, we got a 3 and a half hour stretch last night!

Pisghetti · 19/12/2016 09:39

They do say BF gets easier after 6 weeks. I think my nips toughened up around then so it wasn't like trying to latch on a tiny terrapin. Hooray for sleep!

Just went to get a coffee in the kitchen at work. Exchanged pleasantries with colleagues. Walked back to office and realised I had my jumper on backwards. It has a zip and a logo so it is quite obviously backwards. So now my colleagues must think I'm pissed. I need a holiday.....

LondonGirl83 · 19/12/2016 11:34

Pis that's too funny!

Can I ask a random question to the mums with kids. After your nipples 'toughen up' from breast feeding, do they ever go back to normal?

I'm just selfishly worrying about my sex life post breast feeding!

ChatEnOeuf · 19/12/2016 12:40

Mine are insanely sensitive at the moment. Helpful?

Pis she is wildly excited, more so than any of us, greets the belly before me each day at school pick-up... Aiming not to find out, but each time I get scanned and don't see any boy bits, I'll lean a little more towards girlbe. Of course, I'm probably just blind :)

LondonGirl83 · 19/12/2016 13:38

Insanely sensitive doesn't sound great either Chat but its good to know 'tough' doesn't mean no sensation for the rest of your life!

Pisghetti · 19/12/2016 14:42

Ha that's pretty cute! I think when I tell them DS will be a bit 'oh no not again' and DD will be more like 'can I eat it?'

My nips are fine. I didn't really experience a loss of sensation at all. I think they get used to the constant suckling and at the same time the baby gets better at it which takes you past the painful stage. Lansinoh and pretending you're on a page 3 shoot by wandering about topless helps in the meantime.

Could I request a hooyah please? For no particular reason I'm feeling the dooms Confused probably because I'm not getting symptoms yet (unless you count a permanent hungover feeling, a temper like an alley cat and uncontrollable hunger).
