Luchi I'm sorry to hear you are stuck in hospital... in terms of books, I loved a book recently called The Versions of Us. I'm also ready Mastra at the moment... it's good, but a little racey in places! Wink

marmitecheesetoast · 28/12/2016 10:27

Depends what kind of books you like Luchi and might not be your cup of tea - depends if you like historical fiction - but I've been totally hooked on the Philippa Gregory Cousins War and Tudor Court series. The two series run straight from one to the other and think overall there's possibly around 11 books, I've been devouring them!

Always crochet as an alternative to knitting too

LuchiMangsho · 28/12/2016 10:48

More than happy to do podcasts. I read everything but my professional life involves lots of reading so I can only read in short bursts for pleasure. I am currently working myself through some cookbooks.

JennyOfOldstones · 28/12/2016 19:52

So sorry to hear you have to stay in hospital Luchi but it sounds like you are getting the best care and better to be on the safe side.

Can you find a computer game to get really obsessed with? I think men are better at that kind of thing! Hope you get to see your DS lots.

marmitecheesetoast · 29/12/2016 09:46

Right off pram shopping today eeeek! First baby purchase! There's a few deals on in the sales at the moment so hoping if we are able to decide what we want today we can get a good deal.

Any of you that are already mummies have any recommendations of prams you have that you love / wouldn't recommend?!

purpleviolet1 · 29/12/2016 12:11

Marmite, I got the sola2 in camel from M&P. Seems ok for what we need it for And it was only £279 for the pushchair carry cot and footmuff. Thought it was great value. The other colours are closer to £500 so a big discount if you don't mind the camel! Plus got another 15% off as we had booked an appt with them and spent over £1500 in total. Our total then came to £1400 and we saved £900.

For the £1400 we got the pushchair set, car seat with base, 3 piece nursery furniture plus drawer for under cot, bouncer, playmat, bath, Moses basket with stand and the relevant bedding for Moses basket/cot.

marmitecheesetoast · 29/12/2016 15:29

Wow sounds like a great deal Purple!

Have spent several hours playing with prams in mothercare and local pram centre shop, worn out now! Haven't bought anything yet but must say our heads have been very turned by uppababy vista... hmmm

jpeg28 · 29/12/2016 17:49

I like the uppababy vista marmite but we ended up with the Joolz geo. it felt really sturdy and I read a gazillion reviews and all good. But I think most of them are pretty good!!

marmitecheesetoast · 29/12/2016 18:26

Sounds good jpeg! Have just bought the uppababy vista on the JL deal with the £200 off (although now I'm thinking ohhh we didn't really look at the Joolz Geo!)
Exciting. Starting to feel a lot more real now!
Got a few other nice bits n bobs in the mothercare sale too Xmas Grin

everdene · 29/12/2016 18:27

I have got a car seat (Maxi Cosi Pebble) from a friend and I'm just going to buy the base - I know it's safe/hasn't been in an accident and my friend's baby isn't even a year yet so it's fine, I'm sure.

Have been promised a cot too. I don't think I'll bother with a changing table as they aren't used for very long.

jpeg28 · 29/12/2016 18:57

That is such a bargain marmite! It's all getting really now!! I can't wait to buy the cot etc!

Can anyone tell me what braxton hicks feel like??? Today I have noticed sort of cramp like feelings quite low down, and sometimes it feels like it's tightening? I'm a bit worried as I'm only 24 weeks!

MonkeyArms · 29/12/2016 19:03

luchi have you got Netflix? if so there are loads of series on there I can recommend. Suits and White collar are my favourites.

peanut2017 · 29/12/2016 19:33

Hey had a productive day too! Got the uppa baby vista, maxi cosi pebble, the base that works for kids when they are older, nappy bag, snuzpod with mattress, protector & bedding! Although our bed is slightly higher than the 58cm, I hope it will be ok. Delighted!

Think I might have SPD - pelvic pain. I can barely walk, sit for long, hurts getting in and out of bed! So painful & earliest I can get a physio appointment is next Wednesday. Anyone have this? Have heard you can get a belt that helps?

jpeg28 · 29/12/2016 20:03

Wow peanut that amazing!!

I have SPD too... only thing that works for me is swimming. And not crossing my legs ever!! But yours does sound quite a bit worse. I would see a physio if you can, try to find a pregnancy specialist perhaps?

peanut2017 · 29/12/2016 21:35

I've done so much research jpeg that we just had to bite the bullet and start as there are so much research and recommendations online.

I was doing aqua aerobics and yoga but we were away for a week and what with Christmas and both not starting back until second week in January, I'm feeling it now.

What symptoms are you having & how long? Has it affected you in work? I'm not sure I can drive and then sit on a chair all day. Feeling very sorry for myself. The pain is unbelievable.

Strubo · 29/12/2016 21:59

peanut I had awful SPD in my last pregnancy. Was on crutches from around 26 weeks. This one hasn't been as bad although I've had some pelvic pain, I'm almost 27 weeks now and still walking! You can get a support belt that helps a little, keep your knees together as much as possible (could have used that advice 6 months ago!) and rest as much as you need to. Hope it feels better soon xx

TopKittyKat · 29/12/2016 22:01

Gosh, you all sound like you're getting organised.
We're not buying anything yet, as we're still frantically trying to do up our house. We're getting there but don't want to buy anything until we get the carpet fitted and we want all the 'dirty work' (painting, plastering etc) done before that. Eeek there's nothing like a deadline!

marmitecheesetoast · 29/12/2016 22:11

Wow sounds like a very busy super productive day peanut!

We're getting a chicco next2me from SiL whose finished with it so picking that up next week too. Eek.

Hope your pain gets a bit better peanut and you can get some relief from the Physio

MyGreenSofa · 29/12/2016 22:37

I've started to get back and hip pain too and is aggravated by all the bending and lifting etc that having a 2 year old entails. I'll have to look at getting one of these belts!

Luchi I'm glad you're being looked after but very sorry to hear about your long stay in hospital and time away from your DS. It must be tough for you all Flowers

I had a VBAC appointment today. It was basically just the midwife giving information about pros, cons and risks of VBAC and ELCS although they are clearly pro VBAC. I will see a consultant at 37 weeks when the actual decisions will be made but I did say I'm hoping for VBAC and I've laboured before hopefully I've got a good shot. I was reassured to hear that they do put a time limit on the labour to try and minimise the risk of uterine tear or baby becoming distressed so that's good news but I suppose does mean there is still a fairly strong chance of another c-section but at least it shouldn't be after nearly 24 hours labour again! If I remember rightly there are a few other ladies hoping for VBAC here too?

Strubo · 29/12/2016 23:14

greensofa can I ask why you are going for a VBAC? Just because I am having an ELCS this time, I've had 2 vaginal deliveries but due to my hip surgery This year I've decided to have a section. I'm really nervous now though!

purpleviolet1 · 30/12/2016 08:13

27 weeks today Grin

choccybiscuit · 30/12/2016 09:54

I'm hoping for a vba2c greensofa. I have an android appointment to discuss this in at 32 weeks. I'm so torn! I really would like yo have a birth with out surgery for once. The consultant I saw at 20 weeks said there is not much difference in rupture risk after having two c sections, thanks one. She said she was happy to let me try for one. We'll see what happens.

MyGreenSofa · 30/12/2016 14:20

Strubo - I had an EMCS with DD after a very long labour and she was becoming distressed. I found it very traumatic and my recovery was long & difficult as I developed a wound infection. I've heard that an ELCS is a much better experience but I'd really like to try and avoid the section recovery time with a toddler. More importantly though is avoiding the same sort of scenario as last time so I would opt for ELCS over being induced for example.

Strubo · 30/12/2016 22:37

greensofa thanks for that. I'm sorry to be nosy I'm just quite nervous about it! I'm worried about the recovery as well as I have 2 at home, 7 & 11, although my mum has said she will come and stay to help out as I won't be able to drive to school etc.

Theknittinggorilla · 30/12/2016 23:00

strubo I'm having a third section, will have a 4 year old and a 2 year old at home. Bit nervous about it but recovered quickly from the first two and was up and about after a couple of days after the second one and able to deal with my two year old. Was driving again in less than three weeks. Hoping for a similar experience, plus this will be an elective rather than an emcs first time and semi elective (after 4 days of early labour) second time. Obviously you never know what is going to happen with a vaginal birth or a section but I had positive experiences of recovery with both of mine.

luchi hope you are doing ok and finding ways to stave off the boredom, must be a nightmare.
