Hello, I haven't been on in a while. Nice to catch up on the posts and see where everyone is at.

I'm definitely neglecting my kegels - an app is a great idea!

Has anyone thought about hypnobirthing? My friend did it and had a great birth. I've borrowed her book and will start listening to the tracks soon I think. Anything to help right?!

We had our 20 week scan on Monday morning and found out we are having a girl! It was so lovely to finally know!

I would like to try hypnobirthing this time too Anna. What book is it your friend has?

MyGreenSofa · 17/11/2016 07:21

And congrats on being team pink!

AnnaKateNZ · 17/11/2016 09:10

It is Mindful Hypnobirthing by Sophie Fletcher greensofa. I'm finding it very good so far. It has tracks to download and listen too and I have listened to some from the Hypnobirthing Hub on the podcast app.

MrsBac83 · 17/11/2016 09:30

Ooh I've just got that book too but only read the intro so far. It had very good reviews. Fingers crossed it works!!

Had 20 weeks scan yesterday - although 19+2. All present and correct and nothing to worry about. I have an anterior placenta which I think seems to be fairly common and would explain why the movements I (think) I've felt have been a bit 'dulled'

We didn't ask to find out what we were having so Team Yellow over here. Although we both agreed after we thought we glimpsed something where there would or wouldn't be a something to see if you catch my drift! Not telling anyone about that though!

Relief to know everything is all ok up to this point. Just more ripening needed. Baby was still being awkward though and every time sonographer went to take a profile picture a hand went up to his/her face!! Got great pics of tiny hands and tiny feet though. Grin

TopKittyKat · 17/11/2016 11:59

Congrats Anna!

I've got the Maggie Howell Natal Hypnotherapy book and CD. I'm working through the book at the moment and will start in the CD in a few weeks, I think. The book covers the history of child birth and how women coped in the days before all of the medical interventions we have today and applies done of those old techniques. It's quite interesting...

I know lots of people who used hypnotherapy and they all have said it has helped.

Well, it can't hurt right!?!

marmitecheesetoast · 17/11/2016 13:06

Haha Chatenouef! I miss tea too.
I've downloaded a free kegels app now so will see what that's like

Great that you're being offered seats on the train now Bubbins my bump has been really obvious for a couple of weeks but I've had to stand up on the bus home every day so far this week Envy I think the problem is with it being winter and having my coat on (even though it's unfastened as the bus is so hot) maybe its less obvious

Congrats Anna that's lovely news!

And congrats too MrsBac!

Mine is next week and I can't wait!

I've heard good things about the Maggie Howell book and CDs. I should probably get round to buying it, you guys are all so organised! Would be interested to hear what you think of the Sophie Fletcher one too Anna

TopKittyKat · 17/11/2016 13:48

marmite - you need to get a baby on board badge. TFL post them out free of charge. If you google it, then you'll find the page.

I don't see why they can't be used anywhere in the country. I use mine quite a way from London.

jobrum · 17/11/2016 14:26

Hi everyone. Those baby on board badges are a great idea. I've never seen them anywhere other than London though so I always wondered if anyone would take any notice of them?

I'm on my last day of a weeks holiday. Started taking tablets for my migraines and they make me so drowsy. Dd has been very cooperative and waking up around 8.00 so tomorrow with a 6.10 alarm is going to be a shock! At least its only one day then the weekend.

So many scans! Mine's next Wednesdaty. I wil find out the sex but won't be telling anyone. Will just say we decided to have a surprise again!

jobrum · 17/11/2016 14:30

Will be looking at those hypnobirthing books. I went very 'into' myself last birth so can really see it working.

marmitecheesetoast · 17/11/2016 17:50

I feel the same jobrum don't know whether people would think I was weird for wearing one outside of London! But thanks for the suggestion Kitty it is a good idea!

We are scan date twins Jobrum mine is also next Wednesday!

jobrum · 17/11/2016 18:07

Maybe it does depend how far out of London? I imagine in a lot of the SE wwre people commute into London for work most people would know what they were.

marmitecheesetoast · 17/11/2016 18:25

Yeah I agree, I'm in Manchester where I wonder whether people would even recognise it!

Superbabywright · 17/11/2016 20:40

I know people before say "every pregnancy is different" but blimey this is so true!
Granted I was 6 years younger than I am now but I sailed through my DD pregnancy. A teeny bit of queasyness. A bit sweaty towards from being a summer baby but other than that I loved it.
This time I felt like utter shit in the first trimester and now I have aches and pains, headaches, chronic constipation, my back hurts so much and it's only going to get worse.
Now it took us a while to conceive and I am over the moon to be carrying baby number 2 but fluff me! This time is hard work!

Superbabywright · 17/11/2016 20:52

Daily reminder to squeeze your pelvic floor 😉

MyGreenSofa · 17/11/2016 21:50

Thanks super, doing mine now Wink

everdene · 18/11/2016 08:19

I've got a baby on board badge and feel really touched at how many people (have to say it's mostly been young men) have offered their seats.

Did have a horrible situation on the tube on Wednesday when I sat next to a tramp who announced to me he'd pissed himself and then spotted my badge and started shouting 'I'm pregnant! Everyone pay attention to me!' Hmm I just got off at the next stop and waited for the next tube after that!

Otherwise my experience with my baby on board badge has been very lovely!

MyGreenSofa · 18/11/2016 08:38

Ugh everdene that's awful! What a horrid man.

CajunKitty · 18/11/2016 09:31

Mine came yesterday (although I'm working from home today because of MW appointment). I commute to East Croydon, so don't actually get on the tube but I see lots of women wearing them on the train. When I ordered it the website said that they only post to a London and the southeast, but check your train/bus provider in your area as I've definitely seen badges for other parts of the country.

MrsBac83 · 18/11/2016 10:16

I'm pretty sure you can get the badges on Ebay if you live outside of London. I'm going to Berlin the weekend before Christmas for the Christmas markets and was tempted to get one. More so for the crowd pushing in busy places but not sure anyone would pay much attention. If they speak enough English to translate it that is!

Cuppaqueen · 18/11/2016 17:18

Hi all, great to hear about the scans - lovely pic Anna!

Feeling rather proud of myself after I went to a bar with friends for some drinks (well, one wee glass of wine and then water in my case Wink) and managed to stay out till 1am. That's the latest night I think I've had since I got pregnant. Must be getting my energy back at last.

jpeg28 · 18/11/2016 18:44

I live in Brighton and I wear my baby on board badge whenever I get the train. So far I've only been offered a seat once when I was in London this week but I'm sure as I get bigger people will start to notice more!!

1am cuppaqueen! I'm lucky to get to 10pm! I reckon tonight could be an 8oclocker after the week from hell and the In laws coming this weekend!!

amelie427 · 18/11/2016 20:59

My Baby On Board badge seems to get me free Pret (decaf!) coffees and extra stamps on my EAT loyalty card... extra bonus!

I've been quiet on here so far but have found it very comforting seeing people going through the same emotions and asking the same questions.

First baby, due on 16th April - currently 18+5, enjoying the first flutters and looking forward to the next scan. Smile

everdene · 18/11/2016 23:51

Sofa it was reeeeally grim! Sad

Had some LOVELY news tonight from my DSis who told me she is also pregnant!! She is due in June so will be right behind me. Am thrilled our babies will be so close in age.
