I was the opposite: very happy from the start with dd but much grumpier this time. I put it down to having a less than understanding toddler!

Niks2026 · 02/11/2016 18:52

14+4 today and definitely feeling bubba wriggle around. Looking forward to seeing my tummy move and my girls can't wait to feel the baby kick.
I think I may be having a boy as its been such a different pregnancy to my girls'. But Wer not finding out so will have to wait til baby arrives.

jpeg28 · 02/11/2016 19:40

What symptoms suggest a boy Celen?

I'm not sure if I'm feeling the baby... what does it feel like? I'm 16+1 so is it too early if it's my first?

Mummymulb16 · 02/11/2016 20:04

Thanks for all the recommendations will go this weekend for a fitting hopefully!

JPEG at first it will feel like flutters or air popping. It's amazing! I'm feeling so much more now and really excited when I do, I'm 19 weeks tomorrow so hopefully it will get stronger and stronger baby seems more active at night which makes me think this little one is gonna be up at night!Wink

choccybiscuit · 02/11/2016 21:50

I felt the baby move loads today. I've only felt like a small ripple maybe a few times over the last Cople of weeks, but today it was having a mad half hour! They've definately felt stronger.
Based on my feelings celen I think I'm having a boy. I thought I was having a girl last time and I was correct.

Helbelle75 · 02/11/2016 22:12

Exciting about all of the movement.
I went back to ballet tonight for the first time in ages and there's 3of us who are pregnant, which is brilliant and a massive coincidence! All different sized bumps.
Meeting at work went well and all very supportive so feeling a lot better about that.
DH is being a right miserable sod at the moment though and doesn'the seem very excited about the baby at all. He's very doom and gloom and it's driving me mad. I'very bought him a cute t-shirt to wear to announce being a daddy and he won't wear it - even tongue in cheek as it's meant to be. Maybe he has pmt.....

ChatEnOeuf · 03/11/2016 01:04

Night shifts here, hence the radio silence.

My boobs popped at about 16w, up to a C cup now, dizzy heights. When my milk came in with DD I rocketed up to an E cup! Far cry from my little pancakes :)

I love that there's some baby DNA inside our bloodstream. I was once told some of it stays forever in our spleen, which has been a real source of comfort for me.

choccybiscuit · 03/11/2016 08:23

chat that's a nice thought. That way they stay with us forever, even when they grow up and move out!
helbelle glad your feeling better about work now, it makes a Huge difference to your wellbeing.

MrsRhubarb · 03/11/2016 09:31

My boobs got really big last pregnancy, much more so than my tummy did. I remember my step-mum saying I looked more like I'd had a boob job than was pregnant, and she was right.

ACat Breast size has nothing to do with ability to breastfeed, it's all about how much glandular tissue you have, not the surrounding fat, so try not to worry about it. Breastfeeding is very much supply and demand - the more baby tries to feed, the more your body will make, so just keeping putting baby to the boob!

17+3 yesterday and when I got into bed after work I felt baby move with my hand for the first time! Because of my anterior placenta I can only feel it wiggling low down, and more on the left side, so I'm over the moon to have felt it from outside so soon. Can't wait for DD to be able to feel it!

Chat I love that too, it's such a warm fuzzy feeling.

No idea about gender, based on emotions or otherwise. I'm pretty happy and chilled out atm, but that's more because I'm enjoying the fact that my sickness seems to finally be coming to an end. WOOHOO! Definitely been feeling more, ahem, affectionate with DH, which I think he appreciates after a few months of looking after me just being tired and sick. Other than the sickness I feel the same as I did with DD. Everyone is sure it is a boy, other than DD. Excited now that it is November, I find out THIS MONTH!

MrsBac83 · 03/11/2016 10:17

Morning all
Had my 16 week check yesterday (although 17+2) Had to see a consultant rather than midwife because I have asthma. But the consultant said that women react differently with asthma so only time will tell if I may get better or worse!! I'm sure first midwife told me that! Waste of time going to consultant! Anyway, back to midwife led care from now on. It all felt very rushed, she didn't want to try "fiddling about with a 17 weeker" for heart beat with Doppler so gave me a quick scan instead. When I say quick - "that's it, there's the heartbeat, off you go!" Didn't even linger for a second for me to glimpse baby properly!! Humpf!
But pleased there is a heartbeat at least. Scan in 2 weeks so will hopefully get a better chance to look at baby.

Has anyone had antenatal classes mentioned to them yet? I don't have another appointment with midwife until 28 weeks (25 week check is with GP?!) but I think that will be too late to book anything by then??

Last rant. I ordered some bits online from Next the other day. I know Next generally come up big so I ordered in the same size I normally would - I could have got 3 people under the top I think!! It would have still looked 'floaty' on an elephant!! I know I'm going to fill out but blimey!!

petiteange28 · 03/11/2016 12:36

Just catching up - manic few days at work.

I've already booked NCT classes. There was only one space left for the 'due in April' session when I booked about 4 weeks ago before I'd even had my 12 week scan!!!

Also, in case anyone is interested....and maybe something for the first-timers like me but Mamas and Papas are doing free 'Parents to Be' events at their stores. I got an e-mail about it so signed up but I'm sure if you go onto their website you might be able to find details. They offer practical tips and you get a goody bag (apparently) and it's free!!! Thought people might (or might not) be interested.

MrsBac83 · 03/11/2016 14:25

Oooh will have a gander. Thanks x

jpeg28 · 03/11/2016 17:59

Thanks petite!

MonkeyArms · 04/11/2016 06:13

has anyone come across anywhere that does long evening maternity dresses that dont cost a fortune. I have a couple of functions in December and a quick try on of my dresses showed that none of them are close to doing up even now....

Bubbinsmakesthree · 04/11/2016 06:38

Try ASOS monkeyarms

jobrum · 04/11/2016 09:41

monkey yes asos maternity really is good. I find the sizing huge though, I sent back three pairs of maternity slim fit trousers a size smaller than I would usually wear as the legs were massive. Its free returns so order a couple of sizes for fit.

I'm currently waiting for my migraine consultant appt. Its in an antenatal clinic so all the other women are here with someone except for billy no mates me!

Last pregnancy just 'felt' like a girl. This one feels like a boy so it will be interesting to find out.

SarahOoo · 04/11/2016 10:24

My normally 34H boobs are so big I popped to Bravissimo in Covent Garden on Wednesday night....only had to go up two back sizes and kept the same cup (although it's a bigger cup bra science...). Get to keep my wires for a while yet yay!

I finally bit the bullet and bought some lovely maternity jeans in H&M, getting used to the elastic band thing.

I just need a coat now as my beautiful Wallis one will not do up on my boobs! Husband loving it of course haha. Any maternity coat suggestions most welcome! I'm normally a 14/16 but will HUGE bazookas 😊

Hayls17 · 04/11/2016 14:04

Is anyone else on Asprin to prevent pre-eclampsia? I was prescribed it by the consultant 4 weeks ago, with the instruction to take a 75mg tablet once a day. As I'm nearly out I put in a prescription request to my GP for some more, which I've picked up today and the box says to take twice a day. If anyone else has been prescribed these, how often do you take them?

Cuppaqueen · 04/11/2016 15:28

Hello all Smile Just catching up with the thread and saw the posts re being rhesus negative. That's me too and DH is definitely positive so I guess I'd be needing those jabs too (ouch). Except I had the NIPT test (NIFTY in my case) and I wondered if those also give the baby's blood type as well as trisonomy risk, sex etc. I know I'm low risk but don't get the actual results till I see the doc on Monday. Has anyone else who had this type of test found out the baby's blood type? (She asks in hope of avoiding scary needle ...)

choccybiscuit · 04/11/2016 16:26

hayles I would stick with the original dosage by your consultant. I was put on baby asprin 75 mg once daily with my 2nd dd for the same reason as yours.

marmitecheesetoast · 04/11/2016 18:03

Hi all, just catching up as haven't logged on all week after what can only be described as an utterly horrendous week at work, so exhausted! Really not impressed at how much overtime I've had to do, barely keeping up with workload and getting more and more responsibility dumped on me. I tried telling my manager how overwhelmed and anxious I'm feeling about ridiculous workload but he didn't have anything to say Angry

Anyway, at least its Friday and I left at sensible time today! just wish I could have a crisp glass of sauv blanc

Hope things have picked up a bit for you Hellbelle? and Abe? Has your manager come up with anything?!

Well done on passing your test choccy!

I'm jealous of all of you who got to listen to baby's heartbeat at 16 week appointment! I had my 16 week appointment earlier this week but it was a bit strange... I was under the impression I was seeing MW and consultant (for first appt with consultant after being referred because of another health issue). The waiting room was horrendously chaotic and they seemed to be running really behind. People were getting called in to see a MW 'to check your blood pressure and urine' in an open room off the waiting room. I presumed this was to try and let them catch up and that I'd still actually 'see' a MW to talk to as had wanted to just mention the fact I've been suffering very badly with headaches and also check that the amount of round ligament pain I had been experiencing was normal... I didn't see a MW though and my v brief appt with the consultant just consisted of him saying I could continue with my usual treatment for my health condition during pregnancy and that he didn't need to see me again and was referring me back for MW only care (which is exactly what I expected so that's great)... but obviously I didn't speak to him at all about the pregnancy .... just left feeling like I'd missed out on something?! Has everyone else actually spoken to a MW and got to listen to heartbeat at 16 week appointment? Helbelle I can see your MW didn't listen to HB either, did you actually at least have a chat with her though!? At least you got a scan MrsBac however brief! Don't want to sound moany just felt a bit weird!

CatandKitten I also had flu jab and was fine afterwards aside from very achey arm for a few days. I would recommend getting it booked in sooner rather than later.

That sounds frustrating about MAT1B Jenny hopefully they will be able to sort it at 20 week scan. I hadn't even thought about it (my work are so rubbish haven't even asked when i'm thinking of finishing Hmm )

Glad consultant appointment went well Strubo and elective section sorted, must be a relief

Puggle and Rara I am alos RH neg and not been given any option about testing baby's blood. I was just told I'll definitely need Anti D at ?28 weeks I think it was regardless of whether antibodies in blood or not and that if I have any trauma or bleeding in the meantime I need to get myself if for an Anti D injection... still not entirely sure what Anti D actually is?!

I haven't felt any movement yet, 17 weeks today... I guess it is my 1st though and I think on my 12 week scan notes it said anterior placenta.

Thanks for the Mamas and Papas tip petite I'll get onto that!

marmitecheesetoast · 04/11/2016 18:03

OOps sorry for massive post!!

Mummymulb16 · 04/11/2016 19:34

Can I just ask how many meals everyone is having I only have two meals as I'm so full in the evening and get really bad heartburn.should I be worried ?

JennyOfOldstones · 04/11/2016 20:30

I didn't get baby's heartbeat at 16w appointment but I did tell the midwife I was in a hurry!

choccybiscuit · 04/11/2016 21:06
