I had to go into theatre to have an epidural and forceps so had a lot of staff in there as well!

Myfirstbornisacollie · 26/10/2016 18:22

Lovely scan pic. Looking forward to ours, the 6.5 week one was just a flashing blob.
Not sure who mentioned it but I rate mint over ginger for helping with nausea. Soft mints & extra strong ones on the go here.
Anyone else dreading the clock change at the weekend? DD wakes around 5 most days not sure if I can cope with possible 4am start to day 😂
8.4

haveacupoftea · 26/10/2016 18:32

Thanks everyone Grin I was so nervous going in I thought I would faint! Having seen the baby is making the wait for 12 week scan SO much easier. Good luck with your early scans all of you GrinStar

HazyHazyJeans · 26/10/2016 18:34

Yes collie! DH and I were discussing our plan of action earlier. I think we're going to keep DD up later on Saturday & Sunday & just hope she sleeps a little later. I'm not holding my breath though as it usually doesn't matter what time she goes to bed, she's still up between 5&6!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 26/10/2016 18:54

I only asked because I agree the antenatal classes are a bit pants and very biased. It's a shame your group didn't gel as that network is really what you're paying for.

The NCT is an amazing organisation who do so much to support parents and families; I volunteer with my local branch and we run lots of events and provide services that are available to members and non-members alike. It's the same all across the country. But I do feel it's a shame that the first and sometimes only contact individuals have with the NCT is through antenatal classes, because they're often put off the organisation as a whole if the course didn't live up to expectations or they feel they've been fleeced.

I guess I just want people to look beyond the antenatal course and realise that the charity has so much more to offer beyond that!

And the money you spend on membership and antenatal courses really does go towards supporting parents and families!

Anyone who has been to their booking appointment, did you DH go? Would it make sense for him to go or not? I kind of want him to be there I think more because I am nervous than anything else. Will I get a scan date at the appointment or will that come through later?

peaceloveandbiscuits · 26/10/2016 19:51

Ask him about any relevant family medical history if he doesn't come with you.

It's amazing how differently care is organised in different places. I'll have my booking appt and scan all at once at 10-12 weeks, also have to be referred by GP, who I saw yesterday. She made my 16week midwife appt too!
Got a Chinese takeaway on my way home as DH is out and my appetite has made a surprise reappearance.

sleepylil · 26/10/2016 19:55

I agree that the info we were actually given at the classes wasn't that great and nothing I couldn't have found out myself but we went for the group. For me it's been worth every penny and more, we still see each other 2.5 years on and I have made lifelong friends that have come to my rescue many times. I was lucky to have such a fab group and know that it isn't always the case. To be fair it's very hard to give a very real, warts and all course without coming across very negatively, at least in my experience anyway. No course, no advice, no book can give you even a hint of preparation for what it's really like, esp as it will be a different experience for everyone.
I will be going along to the hospital ones again this time as there is a mlu now which wasn't there last time so I'd like to see it.
Agree with what's been said re info like where to park etc being really useful.

HazyHazyJeans · 26/10/2016 19:58

monkey I won't be taking DH to booking in & didn't last time. It's basically just lots of box ticking & giving a blood sample. As mentioned, you need to know of any relevant family medical history from your OH though. DH will only come to the scans with me, all other routine appointments I'll go to on my own. It's hard enough for him to get time off for the scans!

Yawninghippo · 26/10/2016 20:11

Hello All!

haveacupoftea here I'am!! Smile

haveacupoftea · 26/10/2016 20:21

Hi hippo! So glad to see you here! Must be a shock to the system being pregnant then not pregnant then pregnant after all! ShockGrin

Masweetpea1 · 26/10/2016 21:17

My nct class was brilliant. The midwife running it was dealt helpful and the girls i met are all good friends now. Only bad thing was the breast feeding talk that was just awful!!! A typical view that breast feeding is the only option and you'll go to hell if you don't do it their way GrinHalo

BoBo90 · 26/10/2016 22:13

Hi ladies, just posting to say I'm going to have to love you and leave you. My brown mucus turned into bleeding and heartbreakingly we lost our little bean today🙁
I wish you all the best of luck with happy and healthy pregnancies all round! Xxx

P.s. Could someone remove me from the spreadsheet - I can't face it)

KittyVonCatsington · 26/10/2016 22:19

Oh BoBo my love-what hell you have gone through today. Life is very unfair sometimes. Take lots of time to mourn your loss. I hope you have lots of support.

So very sorry Flowers

haveacupoftea · 26/10/2016 23:50

So sorry bobo. I have removed you from the spreadsheet. You take care of yourself Flowers

Sixisthemagicnumber · 27/10/2016 06:22

So sorry to hear your sad news bobo. Flowers

mrspage1985 · 27/10/2016 06:24

Bono Flowersso sorry to hear your news xxxx

MrsPotatoHead80 · 27/10/2016 06:43

Bono I'm so sorry to hear that.

I've woken up this morning & things feel different. My boobs, although still full, are not aching or sore like they were & I'm getting these weird feelings in my lower abdomen. Not pains or cramps exactly...it's so difficult to explain.
I'm still nauseous but I'm convinced it's the thought of losing the baby making me feel sick.

I'm alone away with work & I can't help but think the worst even though I've been super positive so far. I just want to go home & crawl into bed with DH for a reassuring cuddle.

MoonlightMojitos · 27/10/2016 07:18

Oh bobo I'm so sorry 😓 thinking of you xx

Welcome hippo glad to see you're here and things went well after all :)

babyand · 27/10/2016 07:31

So sorry bobo look after yourself x

I'm awake since 4:30am! Lg was having none of wanting to sleep! I'm like a zombie! Nausea kicked in hard. Not sure if it is to do with the lack of sleep or not. Peppa pig is babysitting this morning

5+6

HazyHazyJeans · 27/10/2016 07:31

I'm so sorry bobo Flowers

Hippo, I saw your story on conception. Amazing! Huge congratulations. Lovely to see you here.

I know it's easier said than done but try not to panic mrspotato. How many weeks are you?

5+5

haveacupoftea · 27/10/2016 07:57

mrspotato its totally normal for you to have symptom free days. When I had my scan yesterday I was entirely symptom free, had little stabby pains low on the right hand side, boobs were miraculously free of pain. LO was there with heart beating away Smile

8+1 (have realised scan EDD is actually 100% accurate as LMP date is based on a 28 day cycle and my cycle is 33 days)
