I've got a book out the library about pregnancy that says all this healthy food. All I want is crisps and chocolate. The thought of eating fruit and food with lots of water makes me feel uneasy...

Glenpip77 · 20/10/2016 22:51

Hi all, I now feel brave enough to join you ladies. I had 3 consecutive miscarriages since we started trying for our second DC so have been on tenderhooks this time around. We had our first viability scan this morning which was incredibly nerve-wracking, but we're over the moon to see a very healthy little heartbeat Grin. Back for a follow up scan next Wednesday so looking forward to seeing the change :-)

Sorry to hear many of you are feeling lousy - I can sympathise having suffered with all day nausea for about a week now. Pickled onion monster munch and cucumber are my snacks to control the MS ATM. i tried the sea bands, but don't think they really worked for me.

For those worried about no symptoms, try not to worry too much. I had a textbook pregnancy with my daughter and with the exception of sore boobs and a bloodhound sense of smell I didn't have any symptoms.

skee I'm the same for beige food:). I did manage some blueberries with yogurt today though just to try and get some nutrients! And veg with a big fat roast dinner :)

Welcome glen and congrats! Sorry to hear about such a hard journey so far but fx this one is it! Thanks for Seaband opinion, I was wondering whether to try them but reviews seem quite mixed.

MoonlightMojitos · 20/10/2016 23:43

Ps, is anyone else now tired or is it just me? Hmm I'm usually a totally lazy bed bum and have always been a fan of naps and 10 hour sleeps lol. At first I was exhausted and crashing straight after work but the last 4 or 5 days it's gone and I feel fine! Can't believe I'm still awake at almost midnight when I've been up since 6.30!

MoonlightMojitos · 20/10/2016 23:43

*not tired, not now tired

Skee · 21/10/2016 06:28

I don't seem to be hit with the extreme tiredness either Mojitos, I'm normally a strict 8hr night, but functioning fine on 5 or 6 ATM? Still wide awake by 5:30am!

This morning I'm lying in the dark with rustling packets, gagging down oatcakes to try and fend off sickness. This is not how I imagined early pregnancy... Grin

Very warm welcome Glenpip and congratulations on your scan! Star

catlady15 · 21/10/2016 06:54

Yes, I've got two cats Kitty. They don't know what they're in for!

PurpleHaze1 · 21/10/2016 07:16

Welcome newbies Star Lovely about your scan glen Smile

The beige diet hasn't kicked in for me yet but I remember it well from last time. I remember PILs taking us out for a posh dinner & I could've cried as all I wanted was white bread & chips!

Blueskyrain · 21/10/2016 07:41

Hey, when does morning sickness kick in? I'm a but paranoid about it because I really struggle with vomiting, but then again my mum didn't even get nauseous and I know there's a genetic link.

I'm 5 weeks today. I'm feeling really really hungry and a but bleurgh with it but I get like that when I'm tied anyway.

If I get to this time next week and don't feel sick, am I probably ok? When is it likely to peak?

If I do, salt and vinegar crisps seem to be the preferred treatment here? Is that right? Good excuse for Pringles.

LilyCat43 · 21/10/2016 07:59

Morning ladies!

Hope you are all feeling well today.

Anybody have any suggestions for a sore throat? I have woken up this morning feeling as though I've swallowed razor blades :-( I'm not sure what is still ok to take!

Skee · 21/10/2016 08:15

Hi Bluesky - totally understand your worry, I suffer from emetophobia which used to completely control my life, but I've managed to get it under control over the last few years.

For me it started midway through week 5, and has gotten progressively worse. But when I focus on it, I begin to feel nervous which certainly upsets my stomach more. So I'm trying to stay calm (easier said than done when you're terrified of being sick!) and make sure I carry some oatcakes with me and water with a bit of ginger in it. Oh, and a plastic bag 😳

So far, I've found that on the days I feel worst, constant nibbling seems to help. I felt particularly sick last night, but I put some fresh ginger in hot water and whether it's a placebo or not, my nausea did subside.

Fingers crossed it passes you by!! x

Masweetpea1 · 21/10/2016 08:19

lily, i use honey and lemon. Gross but it totally works.

bluesky , i started being sick at 6 weeks, but my friend has weirdly just started at 15 weeks. I think she's got a bug though as I've never heard of it starting that late!! I think everyone is different and each pregnancy is different too, so theres not really much comparison. They say it peaks at week 8/9 which was true for me last time.

Skee · 21/10/2016 08:21

Morning Lily - sorry to hear your unwell!

I've alway found honey soothing for a sore throat - I read an article recently about old fashioned remedies that actually work, and honey for sore throats was one of them. So honey and lemon in warm water will help sooth it, and paracetamol will help with pain and temperature? x

Goingmadttc · 21/10/2016 09:01

Morning ladies, totally agree with you about beige food. I used to actually love veg. Now the thought of it makes my stomach churn. Used to have eggs for breakfast every morning. Now I can't stand the thought of them! Bread, pasta, fish fingers and chips on the other hand.. mmmm..

Keep thinking about McDonalds fries.. haven't had any for years. Going to have to get some!

Can't seem to edit the spreadsheet...can anyone help me out?

Mooseville · 21/10/2016 10:31

Morning all,
I am with you on the beige food. In fact any food, just ALL the food!!!!!!

Off into London for our early scan. Very nervous and typically this is the first day I've felt really queasy. Not looking forward to the journey!

Mommytobe2017 · 21/10/2016 10:33

I was feeling bad about not eating healthy but if nobody else is doing it then I feel better 😆

LittleLight42 · 21/10/2016 10:43

Hi everyone!

I'm 35, it's our first and due 24th of June. From Bristol- I'll try and add myself to spreadsheet in a minute.

Somebody said earlier they were worried about the lack of nausea. I have none either and naturally got worried, so I spoke to my mum about it who said that in our family women (I.e. Herself and grandma) have usually no nausea during pregnancy. Apparently she only noticed she was pregnant with me in 4th month... To be honest, I don't think I would notice if they didn't take blood to check whether I ovulate lol

The thing I am most worried about is childbirth. I am soooo afraid that I will panic (as I am prone to anxiety and panic attacks). Pain I can do (I don't take anaesthetic at dentist and had really bad back years ago so I couldn't walk) but I do get anxious.
Any advice from established mums?

Thank you all x

babyand · 21/10/2016 10:55

Welcome little light I was the same as you 2 years ago! So anxious about the birth! I wish I didn't spend so much time worrying about it!! I think back all the time to the day of the labour and I loved it!! And this time around I'm so excited for it! Yes it was painful but manageable and most importantly temporary! It was single handily the best day of my life and I was in labour for 13 hours! You will never have a day that will compare to the day your baby is born so please don't let your mind ruin it for you. Xxx

Mummy2squish · 21/10/2016 10:58

little there are a few of us bristol girls on here welcome!!

My colleague just brought me a fried egg sandwich. Luckily not runny (can't remember if I can or not now!) think I've managed to eat enough to get away with it. Thankfully I'm not too queasy today!!

KittyVonCatsington · 21/10/2016 11:01

Hi LittleLight congr!!
I don't suffer with anxiety so I probably won't be that helpful but during labour with DD, the pain meant I had very little else to think about-in fact I remember DH telling me a few things I don't remember happen ending so I am sure that you will be amazing.
However, do mention this to your midwife in your booking in appointment as they can often offer you further assistance and involve any consultants if need be. They can also talk you through their birthing options.

I'd also recommend getting a hypnobirthing book/cd. Although I forgot it all in labour, it really helped to calm me down during many an anxious moment during the pregnancy. The CD was just so marvellous in that way!

KittyVonCatsington · 21/10/2016 11:03

Runny eggs are absolutely fine now, according to the NHS, as long as they are lion stamped eggs Mummy2squish

Believe it or not, we can even eat Stilton now!!! Grin

Monkeyandthebear · 21/10/2016 11:31

Hey ladies, can I join you? I got my bfp this morning, which makes me 4 weeks. Been trying 6 months and had slightly lost hope so was actually really shocked today. Still feeling a little like a rabbit in headlights. I feel like I should be doing something but not sure what! I haven't even considered what to do if I did get a bfp. I was all prepared with opks for next month and was debating buying a thermometer!

No real symptoms I don't think, just nipples that I could hang a coat on!! Sore boobs and general tummy tightness but they are all AF symptoms for me so I am very Confused this morning!

babyand · 21/10/2016 11:40

Congrats monkeyandthebear! Welcome! My af sympthoms have calmed some bit today! 5 weeks x
