Ever-- I think this is life now. I think you keep working even after they are born and for the rest of your life. My mom still goes a bit worried if I catch a cold :)

kikisdelivery · 07/11/2016 22:12

Hi all! Just doing a quick check back in after being away for a long weekend at a friend's birthday Smile. I didn't want to lose my place and will catch up!

Shellbell0403 · 08/11/2016 07:05

ever i am the exact same!! Couldn't feel bubba much last night and during the night when she's normally rather active! She's been wriggling around abit during the night and then this morning!

Anyone had constipation pain?? Iv had pains across the top of my tummy and bumps been tender and sore... panicked abit but think it is just constipation pain...

wizbet80 · 08/11/2016 07:35

Please get checked Shell and Ever.

Evergreen17 · 08/11/2016 07:49

Nasch I am 26 and yes hoping that it gets more obvious/ easier in a few weeks? To feel and learn the pattern?
London you are right, we will worry forever now.
Wizbet get checked for what???! ConfusedConfusedConfused well that didnt help my anxiety levels ConfusedConfused I have nothing to check do I??! What do I have to check???

GinIsIn · 08/11/2016 07:54

Ever calm down - I don't think Wizbet had RTFT! She just meant if you are anxious and not feeling movement for a long period l, not that something is wrong with you now!! Breathe! And have some Chocolate

GinIsIn · 08/11/2016 07:57

I think London is right - all that will happen for the next 18 years is that we will move on to the next thing to worry about! For example, MiniMaxwell has quite a regular movement pattern, so I'm not worrying about that. Instead I've already jumped forward to worrying about if I will be able to breastfeed, and SIDs, and if I've bought the wrong sized clothes! Confused once you get to 28 weeks and things settle down you will love on to worrying about the next thing. And so on. And so on. Remind me again why we are doing this?! Grin

twocatsandatoddler · 08/11/2016 08:28

I agree - there's always something to worry about! I'm not an over-anxious parent and try to put worry into perspective, but there's still always something to be worried about.

I'm concerned about whether I'll be able to breastfeed too - I had trouble last time as according to the midwives helping me I have flat nipples and firm breast tissue (maybe TMI!) and it basically doesn't give much for the baby to latch onto! I used nipple shields last time which helped but I got such conflicting messages from professionals about whether I was supposed to be using them or not that I gave up on them even though they were the only way I got a good latch. This time I'll at least be prepared and know where to find help, and if it comes to it, I combination-fed my son quite successfully from 4 weeks to 5 months so I'm prepared to do that again.

I can't remember who recommended the Scandi laundry basket from Nohn Lewis but it's perfect! Nursery is basically ready now which is great as work is so busy and I don't have a free weekend again until December!

I was in the office until 9pm last night and if the deal I'm working on moves forward it will just be more of the same until mat leave I think

Readyfortwo · 08/11/2016 18:21

I'm 28+2 and baby is constantly wriggling when awake. He tends to sleep in the afternoon but early morning I get woken up with big kicks & squirming, at my desk he gets annoyed by the fact my desk now rests against him so tries to kick that away & then in the evening he wriggles all over the shop. I think if he suddenly stopped I'd know about it!

I don't have an anterior placenta or anything like that hence I feel quite a lot. For those prone to worry is it worth keeping a log of when you feel movements & what type so that you can check back at the times when you're worried?

Oneiroi · 08/11/2016 18:45

That was me London, glad you like it! Grin

Oneiroi · 08/11/2016 18:47

Don't work too much though :-( difficult I know but you need rest too.

LondonGirl83 · 08/11/2016 20:25

Oneiroi its exactly what we needed for the space! I wish I could take it easy but my company totally has their head in the sand. We have not come up with any transition plan really for my work or deals yet despite me raising the issue a number of times!

Readyfortwo · 08/11/2016 21:02

My boss is very head in the sand about it all too London. No replacement plan, no thought to continuity, and workload ramping up rather than slowing down. I've started to get very direct about it now. I've told him I'm going to have at least one appointment a week from now on, and that I may be induced early & therefore start mat leave earlier. I'm also pushing back on workload & making him do any tasks that I don't personally need to do. Unfortunately the person who works for me isn't up to the job & my manager wants me to do all the important things before I go....hence I'm now having to push some of it into him. He's definitely picked up pace on sorting out my cover plan since I've started making him do some of the work!

Evergreen17 · 08/11/2016 21:16

Ahh thanks Fenella. Bubba is definitely more active when I go to bed, like now Smile
Kicking like mad...
And then comes the next worry... Is he moving too much? Hmm
Honestly what are we doing to ourselves!!!
Breastfeeding for me is less of a worry because even though I really want to I know that it might not be possible and then I will express milk or use formula, I can only do my best at that.
7 weeks left at work. Anyone else counting?

Oneiroi · 08/11/2016 21:20

I guess it's times like when you are pregnant, or ill, that you really see what a company is like. My old employer was like this, nice as pie when you were working 80 hour weeks but if someone got sick after years of service they would make their life hell and drive them out of the firm. Same for mothers, yet pretended to be baffled why only 7% of partners were female! I hope both of you have just got bosses who are disorganised and inept rather than vindictive like that, but either way being assertive about the limits is the only option I suppose?

Evergreen17 · 08/11/2016 21:28

Oh sorry London and ready just read your posts about work.
I get very anxious about asking for time off but I have to keep repeating ti myself that I am entitled the time to go to appointments. My manager has been great but one worries one day it will be too much?
If males were the ones getting pregnant none of this would happen. Oh well... Deep breaths

Oneiroi · 08/11/2016 21:30

Jealous of that Ever! I've got 6 weeks to go pre-Christmas, then another 3/4 after our new year break. I'm sure the time will fly past now though, especially if I actually give in and fall asleep at my desk every afternoon!

GinIsIn · 08/11/2016 21:34

Oh god I can't wait!! With time off for Christmas, 8 weeks to go!!

Roseandwine · 08/11/2016 22:09

Twocats (how do I embold again?!) Not only do I have two cats and a littleun, I am worried about breast feeding too. Ds had tongue tie at birth (as dh did) and this did affect things. It was cut in his second week of life but I always kind of felt the bad habits and negative feelings had already set in. We crawled along with mixed feeding until 4 months and then went to hipp organic full time. Tongue tie runs down the male line so if this is a boy I'm ready to check quite soon after the birth.

LondonGirl83 · 08/11/2016 22:25

To be fair, my work has been fine about ante natal appointments though I did have to complain that I thought one member of staff was implying I wasn't as busy as I said I was because I left early (to attend such an appointment). My issues with that guy go much deeper though so its not really pregnancy related.

I am unhappy that they are basically totally ignoring putting in place a proper transition though!

Oneiroi · 08/11/2016 22:45

Don't blame you London. You don't want a last minute panic and unnecessary pressure on you because they haven't got their act together in time!

Mine are at least trying to recruit cover for at least some of my role but haven't been able to find anybody so far. There were a few applications but nobody right for the role. My main concern now is getting them to agree some more flexibility in my working pattern for when I come back next year.

LunaPatuna · 09/11/2016 05:48

I can't say I've been too emotional during this (my first) pregnancy,I sort of expected more blubbing at adverts & traffic jams etc, but my DP has just left to go work in Australia for 16 days and I can't stop crying.
I've been really sore and not sleeping, I'm scared i'll have to go off work sick with PGP if they can't let me work from home.
I ate an orange juice ice lolly to get the baby to move & I think she did but I just feel a bit urgh.
I'm normally a pretty independent person & love my own company so quite shocked at this but I know it's hormones & pain & work & all the tension in the news etc.
I have the midwife at 9am so hopefully can stop crying and sleep for an hour.
I know so many women do this on their own and can't imagine how isolating it must feel at times. Flowers

Readyfortwo · 09/11/2016 06:07

How many weeks are you Luna? I had an inside my 2 weeks ago when I cried all day & night- I woke up at 3am sobbing! I was 26 weeks and I'm pretty sure it was linked to my milk coming in. Just be kind to yourself & take the day in bed.

TBH I think most people will be crying when they see the news today!! What kind of world are we bringing these babies into?? Sad

LunaPatuna · 09/11/2016 06:17

Ooft that sounds like no fun! Do you know that you have milk now? (I'm clueless but want to be prepared!)
I woke up with this pressure in my head it must have been looming, I'm 27 +3. I think I must be due a hormone surge!
Thank you :) I had to call in sick last Thurs/Fri with PGP but back at work this week & have a training course & exam Fri-Tuesday coming! A day in bed would be excellent.

Yeah I went on twitter, fb and instagram for distraction and wish I hadn't! Such a scary world. 🌎Sad There are a lot of disillusioned and angry people out there...

Think I may have to buy a lot of tiny person things today.
