New thread - hope everyone finds this! I'll try and post the link in the old thread if it will let us go over 1,000 posts.

Curiosity I took a day off a few weeks ago when DS was at nursery and had my hair cut and had lunch on my own with a book, it was bliss! I don't colour my hair so not had that dilemma but I'm pretty sure it's actually fine in pregnancy too. I don't think there's anything topical that's actually harmful as I don't really see how it could pass to the baby from your head!

Another one who has been told by the midwife that it's fine to colour your hair. Go for it! :) I might do mine this week - fancy a change!

Finally feel like I'm making progress with the nursery.

Fenella those are so cute! I've made precisely zero progress with the baby's room, but then we have most things in the attic already so they just need a wash. We're getting the cot in a couple of weeks and a new chest of drawers for DS's room so I can move his changing table to the baby's room (actually just a corner of our spare room). Once I've got the chest of drawers in there I can actually start getting the baby stuff down as there will be somewhere to put it!

Given we're putting an extension on the house next year that will mean we'll need to redecorate and re-carpet most of the top floor anyway I don't see the point of dressing the whole room up as a nursery for now, but I have bought a nice print for the wall and some wall stickers to jazz up the corner a bit! Both boys will share that room once we've done the work so I'll redecorate it for them once they've moved in there together. I'm hoping they'll be happy sharing for a number of years so we can have a spare room and a study for a while - one of the benefits of having two the same sex!

Sorry for re-posting - can't seem to find where this was discussed; did everyone automatically get their glucose levels tested at 25w MW appointment? Or did you have to call and schedule it in?

I have the next MW appointment in a week and a bit, but expect it'll be as rushed as the previous ones so just want to put together a list of questions to make sure I clarify all my concerns.

Also, when do we start making a birth plan?

Readyfortwo · 02/11/2016 18:00

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the chair recommendations. I think I want one that swings itself....but not sure if that's more hassle than it's worth...

I've had my hair highlighted twice since I've been pg & did last pg too. I can't really see why it would be a prob.

Does anyone on here have Vitality health insurance? I found out today that you get £100 for giving birth & are covered for private c-section if needed for medical necessity. Pretty good considering it doesn't really cover pregnancy.

Readyfortwo · 02/11/2016 18:03

Also, v.jealous of the morning sex....DH and I tried once with a toddler in the house & let's just say we had to have the reactions of a cat! DH literally threw me off him 2 seconds before DS padded into the room Blush

SBSparkles · 02/11/2016 18:27

Bisquick I asked my midwife today about a birth plan and she said once I start the antenatal classes we can talk about it.

GinIsIn · 02/11/2016 18:30

I had my 25 week appointment today, and she asked about my birth plan - I said I've done it already, it's "give me all of the drugs." She said I was well prepared and it was a very smart plan! Grin

Bisquick · 02/11/2016 18:35

Thanks Sparkles. Next qn : when and how do I sign up for antenatal classes? I asked last time but they were quite busy so asked me to ask next time I'm in - is it around 30+ weeks? Confused

And Fenella that sounds very wise indeed Grin
We're getting a doula - but as I think I've said before - more because I think both DP and I would like some impartial support and feel like the MWs will be too rushed to give that. Less to do with avoiding pain meds etc.

Evergreen17 · 02/11/2016 19:13

Hi!
I am still here Smile
25 weeks on Monday Confused

twocatsandatoddler · 02/11/2016 19:14

Ready mine is through Aviva but I also get £100 (which I didn't know about last time). Not sure about private section, I looked it up before and I'm sure it said it didn't cover routine pregnancy stuff but would cover any medical issues arising as a result of pregnancy, so I guess that could mean a private section? I'll check it out!

Hi evergreen! How are you getting on?

OP posts:
Witch91 · 02/11/2016 19:16

I'm a bit freaked out!! I can feel a really solid bit of baby right at the top of my bump next to the belly button. This is the first time I've really felt this... I think it's completely normal?!? Confused

twocatsandatoddler · 02/11/2016 19:19

witch totally normal! At some point you start being able to tell which bit is which, and you'll prod the feet and they'll kick back!

OP posts:
Witch91 · 02/11/2016 19:33

Thanks twocats - just when you think you are used to the whole movement inside you thing, something changes!!

Slightly concerned about poking the babies head Blush😂

SBSparkles · 02/11/2016 19:41

Bisquick I booked NCT classes a while back. They start on 29th Nov. You have to paid for those though. You can do nhs ones but you might have to google to find it in your area. Your midwife really should have told you.

Evergreen17 · 02/11/2016 19:51

I am okish. I am seeing the midwife tomorrow.
I have been struggling with anxiety quite a bit, I have a history... But getting there.
7 more weeks + 1 day at work
Give me strength
4 hours a day commute into and in London Confused

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 02/11/2016 20:26

Glad you're back ever though sorry about the anxiety.

I'm shattered! Is there a counter app or something I can get to when maternity leave starts? Never mind when the baby arrives. Had a 12 hour day at work, again, then have to be at a conference manning a stand all day tomorrow and it's my birthday! I feel done out of any fun or seeing friends because of work and being tired, and time for a haircut is a distant fantasy!

Grumble over...

I have done some good ebaying lately in spare time, must have saved about 2 grand so far. I'm most proud of my spectra S1 breast pump for £40 (with new pump bits). Anyone else picked up any good bargains?

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 02/11/2016 20:27

Hi everyone. Not been on for a while, just been so busy. My DDS birthdays where over the past two weeks, can't believe they're now 4 and 2! Its gone so fast.

I lost some plug this morning, I'm not worried at all as it regenerates and I was losing bits now and then from 32 weeks with my second. I do thinks its coz I'm overdoing it though but it honestly can't be helped without the house turning to poop and the kids being bored and restless. Both of which will stress the life out of me! I'm doing well though and feeling pretty good, can see baby moving quite.clearly from the outside now and have caught him ore her on video a few.times.

How is everyone else? X

Shellbell0403 · 02/11/2016 20:36

ever so glad to see you back twinnie! Been worried 😘

Feeling a tad down today for some reason. Been abit sore today and had an argument with DH so think it's all just built up!

Finishing up for work on the 16th Dec... woohoo!!

Evergreen17 · 02/11/2016 20:45

Twinnies Smile
I finish on the 23rd!!! Counting the seconds

CeeCeeEnnEss · 02/11/2016 20:54

Welcome back ever, had been thinking about you.

Witch I can also sometimes feel a really hard lump of baby, it's weird. Sometimes I feel the baby roll and it makes me feel sick!

Re Facebook: lovely twocats tried to add me but it needs to be with the primary email address, to which I no longer have access (old uni address!). If anyone wouldn't mind adding me as a friend and then adding me that way (can always delete me as a friend after) then I'd appreciate it and will PM you my name :)

Is anyone else suffering from sore hips? I'm trying to avoid waddling but... it's happening!

twocatsandatoddler · 02/11/2016 20:57

ceecee PM me your name and I'll add you that way Smile

I think you can change your primary email in your settings by the way, I definitely had an old uni one originally as I signed up when you had to have a uni email to join, but I changed it to my personal email a few years ago.

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 02/11/2016 20:57

I can add you CeeCee, well I'll give it a go anyway...

Newmummy2017 · 02/11/2016 21:43

I've dyed my hair a few times since being pregnant. Was initially nervous but waited until after 12 weeks and since checking with midwife and hairdresser feel quite safe doing it. It's nice to get a bit of pampering in when I've got time!
