I'd like to get the harmony test as our age is now a firm factor. The joys of being a geriatric mother!
How did you find a reputable provider for the service?
We haven't told anyone yet so I can't get f&f recommendations, and it's a couple of weeks before I have my first midwife appointment. I'm not sure they'd be able / allowed to point me in the direction of private business either.

Im currently wiped out with tiredness. It takes me unawares and hits me like a tonne of bricks. The nausea has eased off a little, so I'm immediately worrying that I'm not getting enough symptoms.

lullaby23 · 07/10/2016 14:30

We had it for DS so want to do it again. I think it's great to have a non-invasive way of giving you a probability of some chromosomal abnormalities. Finding out the sex so early was a definite bonus too! I am also over 35 now. We are overseas and it's covered by medical insurance so cost is not an issue luckily. I guess everyone is different, I would never get a doppler for home for instance, imagine if you couldn't find a heartbeat Shock

I deliberately didn't get a doppler with DD for that very reason. I think they're too easy to misuse and cause more panic than reassurance as a result. That and the poor child would never get any privacy!

lullaby23 · 07/10/2016 15:18

In my mind they fall into the same category as those Angelcare sensor mats where the baby rolls off and you get a false alarm!

Thanks for making those of us with dopplers feel great 🙄Hmm

beachsands · 07/10/2016 18:51

I have looked up Dopplers but way too soon to use so probably won't bother. Today is the first day I haven't felt horrific. I usually take my folic acid and pregnancy vitamin going to bed. Last night I didn't take the vitamin and I've no nausea today. The vitamin couldn't give nausea, could it?? (That question actually sounds silly!)

BeanSpr0ut · 07/10/2016 19:03

I used a doppler with my first. I found it a nice not not necessary feature. It ruined hearing the heartbeat at the midwife appointment because I'd heard it before. I've passed it on to other mums. Won't be asking for it back either.

Adventuregame · 07/10/2016 19:07

Actually Beach I have read on previous threads that people were sick due to pregnancy vitamin !

Sonnet18 · 07/10/2016 19:11

I've heard that about vitamins too! I take mine at night time as I feel really unwell if I take them in the morning!

peasandquiet · 07/10/2016 19:19

I found sickness was made worse by pregnacare last time, just taking folic acid and vit d this time. Still throwing up tho so not a miraculous cure.
Feeling very low with all the nausea and vomiting, having to keep eating through it all is miserable.
No Doppler here, but I did have a mat with my first and will use again.
Can't afford the harmony test otherwise I would have it, if I came back high risk after the 12wk scan/bloods then I'll find the money from somewhere for more clarity.
Hope everyone has lovely weekends planned. Mine will mostly be spent in an ball being sick and crying!

teainbed · 07/10/2016 19:47

Poor peas it's rubbish isn't it? It will all be worth it in the end. Take care of yourself.

ginandcake · 07/10/2016 20:08

I'm on the fence with dopplers, I have never used one but don't see any issue with others using them. My only reservation would be going with the Doppler and not your gut, I.e. you know something is wrong with baby but the Doppler says otherwise.

I have been so tired again today, cried when DH walked through the door I was so relieved to see him, he looked at me like I was crazy!

talulahbelle · 07/10/2016 20:16

I'm just on folic acid /vit d too this time. Pregnacare is evil.

EsmesBees · 07/10/2016 20:19

Yep those awful huge tablets do make you feel more sick. I have to take mine at night too.

Just had my early scan. Definitely a baby in there and dates are spot on (7+5 today). Feels much more real now. So nice to see it though.

MissMooMoo · 07/10/2016 20:23

I am taking a costco brand vitamin, I bought it in Canada so not sure if its available here. Generally it is ok but sometimes makes me feel a bit ill, I switched from taking it first thing to taking it when I get in from work and that seems to help as I can lie down if I need to.

How is everyone's skin? I normally have really dry skin and that hasn't changed except its migrated to my scalp! I also seem to be getting spots in the most random places on my face, I feel like I am 14 again!

PeachIcedT · 07/10/2016 20:31

Pleased to hear about your scan Esmes. A nice reassurance!

I am only taking standard folic acid and double dose vitamin D. I'm pretty sceptical of multivitamins other than those two. Pregnacare in particular spend so much on advertising their product which is really just a multivitamin minus vitamin A. Even to the point they give a free sample pack with the pack I got at booking in.

MissMooMoo · 07/10/2016 21:00

Lovely news esmes

teainbed · 07/10/2016 21:24

For me it's good to keep a trickle of iron going with a vitamin supplement as even when not pregnant I can get anaemic quite easily. It takes six weeks to make a red blood cell so by the time you're anaemic on your bloods later in pregnancy it's going to be ages before you can get it back up.

JulyLady7 · 07/10/2016 21:27

Hey girls. Think I'm out. Started spotting red this evening. x

Adventuregame · 07/10/2016 21:35

July could it just be spotting tho ? Sorry if I've missed a previous post ?

JulyLady7 · 07/10/2016 22:03

Hmmm, I dunno. TMI alert that and my constipation is gone which I know means high progesterone. It's not looking good. x

EsmesBees · 07/10/2016 22:07

Sorry to hear that July.

Streaky17 · 07/10/2016 22:57

Hope not July fx for you.

Badgerbird · 08/10/2016 00:27
