Thank you sk28 I did go with what you said and she was lovely. Very understanding and happy for me! Phew! Yes, really unfortunate as we would've loved to go but I know how difficult newborns (not the actual baby- that part is the easy part but the timings of food, the potential acid reflux, sleepless nights...) and rumour has it 18 month olds have their difficult moments Wink so it really just couldn't be done!

FoxMulder · 03/10/2016 08:53

Wow, nothing like having a toddler ask "what you doing mummy?" over and over whilst you puke in the kitchen sink.

FoxMulder · 03/10/2016 09:03

Is anyone else not going to have the nt screening? I don't think I am because it could potentially lead to more difficult decisions and I'm rubbish at decisions!

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/10/2016 12:40

I'm so tired I could cry. And 3 people at work have stopped me to ask if I'm okay! I know they're being nice but I already knew I looked like crap and it's not helping. Not even being sick today, just wiped out, shattered, dizzy, no colour in my face and counting down the hours till bedtime.

My DH is very keen on all the screening Fox and I think I'm going along with that. He has 2 DC already and I think that's informing his views. I have no idea what we'd do with bad results but we've talked about it off and on and will continue to do so. I'm only 7 + 2 so got time.

What are your thoughts/feelings? Have you spoken to anyone about it?

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/10/2016 12:42

Good news Sonnet, glad she was happy for you.

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 03/10/2016 12:50

Just sitting at EPU waiting to see the doctor. Had my scan and saw my tiny baby with its tiny beating heart. So relieved! Well done baby Smile

JulyLady7 · 03/10/2016 12:52

Awwww so pleased for you JonSnow. You must be so relieved. Well done baby indeed!

Ghostonthedancefloor · 03/10/2016 13:01

Happy birthday ghost

Anne I need to decide asap because it depends when I have the scan and the midwife wants to book me in. I sort of think it would be good to know if baby had Down's beforehand but also if the screening result was high risk then I would have to decide whether to have an amnio and that would be a tough call.

LorrieJ · 03/10/2016 14:07

Anti-sickness bands: check
Nausea: check
Vomiting: nil
Desperate for anow afternoon nap: check

How is everyone today? I hope today goes well for you Charlie.

PeachIcedT · 03/10/2016 14:23

Congratulations JonSnow that's great news and what a lovely birthday gift ghost!

I am planning to have the scan as otherwise I will just worry throughout, and hopefully a low risk would put my mind at ease, though I also don't know my plan of action if the news isn't positive.

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/10/2016 14:23

That's good about no vomiting Lorrie, glad they're working for you, hope the nausea passes too. I got some bands at the weekend and didn't find they made much difference to the nausea but I'll try them again. They made one of my wrists really itchy.

Hmm, not easy Fox. I've heard people say that where they plan to keep the baby whatever tests show, they'd rather know if there's a risk so they can better prepare. When we talked about it the other day, I wasn't sure how quickly after finding out the results you have to make decisions, if there are risks and DH couldn't remember. Do you know?

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/10/2016 14:27

Lovely to see more scan pix! Happy birthday ghost, what a special one for you x

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 03/10/2016 14:39

Happy birthday Ghost, what a great present.

MissMooMoo · 03/10/2016 14:53

Ohhh more scans! It does make it feel more real. I asked DH if there really is a baby in there last night Blush still doesn't feel real.
I think we will get the tests done.

MissMooMoo · 03/10/2016 14:54

Happy Birthday ghost

Sauvignonismysaviour · 03/10/2016 14:59

That's great BabyJonSnow - what a relief.

Lovely to see the early scan pics on here as well, so exciting. I have caved and booked one next week when I will be (fingers crossed) 8 weeks. Will it be abdominal or internal does anyone know?

This is my first and I feel really well, apart from sore boobs and tiredness; one of the reasons for (hopefully) a bit of reassurance with an early scan really. We haven't told anyone yet so it's our little secret for now!

4sacharm - fellow underactive thyroid person here. My thyroxine levels have been left at what they are. I have heard I will be referred for consultant led care because of thyroid but GP hasn't seemed bothered, so ... ? Who knows.

AnneLovesGilbert - fellow SM here Flowers

So sorry for any of you on the thread who are really suffering with sickness.
Hope we all keep well over the coming weeks and months.

FoxMulder · 03/10/2016 15:13

I don't know sorry Anne. I didn't have the screening with DS.

Was it you who was asking ages ago about what pot to collect urine sample in? The good news is the midwife gives you one. The bad news is you have to reuse the same one throughout the pregnancy! (At least that's how it works here).

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/10/2016 15:45

Love your username Sauvignon, it's a hell of a ride some weeks isn't it! Do you know when you'll tell them?

It was me Fox! They say to take a sample with you, but I can wee on demand so could just ask when I get there. So you take it in, they test it, then they empty it and you take it home? That's pretty grim Hmm

But thanks for the tip.

Sauvignonismysaviour · 03/10/2016 16:09

AnneLovesGilbert yes indeed haha! Probably leave it as long as possible but that's more about their mother than them, I'm pretty sure they will be excited thankfully. How about you?

My username is probably inappropriate but virtual wine is the only wine for now! Wine

Ghostonthedancefloor · 03/10/2016 16:27

Thank you all very much, have some birthday Cake!

After a lovely morning I've spent the majority of this afternoon whacked out on the sofa again, after a brief respite from the symptoms, the nausea and exhaustion has really come back with a vengeance. Also had the worst headache I've experienced in my life, literally. Just goes to show how we can't read too much into them settling down for a few days.

sauvignon an abdominal one, I think the vaginal is only til about 6 weeks or so.

missmoo I know what you mean about not believing there's anything in there. Although this time I've been so ill I was beginning to worry there was more than one in there! It's amazing what the body can do in such a short space of time.

FoxMulder · 03/10/2016 16:42

Yeah that's exactly how it works Anne! Tis a bit grim.

Badgerbird · 03/10/2016 16:54

Great news jonsnow!

Happy birthday ghost! Perfect pressie too Smile

jennymac31 · 03/10/2016 16:57

Afternoon ladies

Managed to fight off the nausea at work until an hour ago. What are people doing to stop/ease the nausea? Have been eating little and often, drinking peppermint tea (not a great fan of ginger). Didn't particularly want to wear sickness bands in fear of people noticing them at work and then putting two and two together.

Sauvignonismysaviour · 03/10/2016 16:59

Thank you ghost, happy birthday and what a lovely scan photo Star
