Anyone else Due June 2017?

1000 replies

pinkiponk · 21/09/2016 20:40

BFP last Friday, will (hopefully) be my second child, as have a 2 year old DS already. Doctor said I was due 2 June Smile
Feeling very excited, but quite nervous as had a MMC before DS, so noticing when symptoms have gone/come back!
Also finding it hard not being able to talk to anyone in RL (obviously DH knows).
Anyone else got this news recently and care to join? Smile

mummyh give it a couple of weeks and you might find despite being hungry not many foods are appealing...it all seems to balance out.

I seem to have gone off hot food and could happily live off oranges and full fat coke!

Morning Ladies, glad everything is ok Skee. It's my first baby too so I'm totally with you all on the overanalyzing and worry crazy train. My boobs have been so sore the past few days. Going to pop to the shops today and get a few new bras that might be more comfortable. Might also get a support vest for through the night as disturbing them wakes me up! Got to phone the midwife tomorrow to arrange my booking in appointment. I know what you mean about time moving slowly tea
Hi Purple lovely to see you over here Smile

I'd make an appointment now Quate
When I went, he just wanted to check my blood pressure, gave me a flu jab and then started the process of the referral to a midwife.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/10/2016 10:59

Qate unless you have any other health issues then 8 weeks is when you need to book in with the midwife. Antenatal care varies from country to country, though, so perhaps best to call your surgery to ask what they usually do?

Poppydm · 16/10/2016 11:00

Qate - sorry!

qate · 16/10/2016 11:00

Excellent - have booked in for end of 5/start of 6 to give it a little bit of time. No midwife system out here, unfortunately - all antenatal care done by doctors, which sounds a bit bizarre!

qate · 16/10/2016 11:03

Ha - no - really helpful! Flying in the blind here, and we haven't told family (or friends who have been through the same thing abroad) which makes it a bit difficult. This would be so much easier if we were doing it at home where there are clear structures!

Poppydm · 16/10/2016 11:04

Will you be back over here for your scans etc? Hope it's lovely and warm wherever you are Smile

FlashingLights · 16/10/2016 11:05

Hello all ☺ can I join?
5+4 today with #2
I had some cramping and spotting last night. It's all eased off now, I've decided not to go to A&E as it's the weekend and will go to EPU first thing in the morning.

MoonlightMojitos · 16/10/2016 11:12

skee glad the cramps are gone now. I agree, could be anything really wind/constipation etc. Pregnancy does crazy things we don't even realise to our bodies! I think we're just so much more aware of everything knowing were pg. I'm about to force myself to go for a walk too seeing as it's a lovely day here and I've not got out of bed yet!

tea every day feels like forever doesn't it. I wonder if that stops after the 12 week mark or whenever you stop worrying as much or if the whole 9 months is like this?!

poppy I always sleep in a support vest or soft sports bra/crop top as I have quite big boobs anyway and would defo recommend! There's no way I could sleep without one now they're so sore.

Welcome and congrats newbies! wow this is getting crazy busy!

KittyVonCatsington · 16/10/2016 13:06

skee -your uterus is going to be doing a lot of stretching and is probably the cause of the cramps (mine is still big from my last baby, Hee Hee!, so I haven't had as nearly as much cramping as last time, but still some!)

Hi Flashing-I had regular episodes of bright red bleeding last pregnancy and all was fine so I hope is the case for you. Probably the best choice to wait for the EPU tomorrow-I know my local one doesn't scan at the weekend and caused me no end of anguish last time! Hope you little one keeps you occupied today, to take your mind off things xx

peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/10/2016 13:15

I think the trouble with antenatal care in countries without a national health service is that when you're paying for your care, you want to see the very best you can afford, and many presume a doctor must be better than a midwife, despite a midwife being the specialist in antenatal care!
I have American friends who are surprised that we can go through a whole pregnancy in this country without ever really needing to see a doctor at all.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 16/10/2016 13:16

Perhaps I should have said, "the difference" rather than "the trouble".

qate · 16/10/2016 13:45

peace Yes, was a bit of a strange thing to get used to - there is public health here, but it's slow and cumbersome. Seriously starting to freak out about so many things (including my best friend's wedding next year at which I'm supposed to be a bridesmaid, when I'll be exactly 32 weeks - AARGH. This is not going to be a pleasant conversation...).

MoonlightMojitos · 16/10/2016 13:53

My dp is working all weekend and we have no food in the house so I've just had to go food shopping.... big mistake. The second I walked in I could smell the fish counter and just needed to get out asap. I've come home with 3 different boxes of cereal, 2 multipacks of crisps, 3 packets of biscuits, 2 frozen pizzas and 2 boxes of ice lollies. He is going to be so cross! So, pizzas for dinner tonight and looks like we will be doing an online shop tonight to be delivered tomorrow 😂

Skee · 16/10/2016 13:53

Thanks ladies - I honestly had no idea it would be like this Blush

I should probably buy a book...

MoonlightMojitos · 16/10/2016 13:55

Aw qate I'm sure she will be over the moon for you! I have 2 hen dos next year that I'm going to have to say I can't go to now, dreading telling them that too but can't be helped! One is abroad in may so will be 8 months by then and one is in the UK mid June so highly doubt I'll be going to that just after giving birth!

MoonlightMojitos · 16/10/2016 13:56

skee I was thinking that too! I bought one for dp called "the whole 9 months" which is really good but didn't actually by myself one!

Skee · 16/10/2016 14:00

Hahahaha! Mojitos that's hilarious! I'm normally pretty healthy, not a fan of processed food - but all I feel like eating just now is pizza or other beige food Grin

You're shopping bag made me laugh, because when I go to pick up some messages later, I'm sure my basket will be full of biscuits, bread and pizza Grin

Skee · 16/10/2016 14:03

A book recommendation! Thanks Mojitos, I'll check that out x

qate · 16/10/2016 14:21

I know, we're still trying to see if we can make it but it will be very tight! Hen do's would be even worse, at least you can sort of get away with no drinking at the wedding!

Books wise, I have the What To Expect but don't massively like it. OH has Pregnancy for Men which he seems to be enjoying (he laughed through the first couple of chapters last night, although I'm not totally sure that's the reaction I was going for!).

Ha, I did nothing but eat solidly yesterday after I found out, and today I just feel a bit grim... living on toast and shortbread. Yum...?!

Masweetpea1 · 16/10/2016 14:37

qate, i got my husband the pregnancy for men book last time. It is actually quite funny and he did read it all! Whether it helped is another matter but he did come up with yoga as a suggestion from that book which i did start and it was pretty good.
I also had 'what to expect ' which i found quite good, later on in pregnancy when i had certain questions i needed answering.

MoonlightMojitos · 16/10/2016 14:56

qate I think that's what they go for in the men's books to keep them interested! It's full of facts but in a fun way for them (eg joking about our boobs getting bigger but tough they can't enjoy them as they are too sore to touch). I've found my dp so helpful around the house the last 2 weeks and I think that's down to the book! It says how much we will appreciate the little things like clean sheets when we get home and are exhausted. Bless him :)

I might ask on the pg thread for some female recommendations now actually, will report back!

I have entered my vinegar phase. See you on the other side Envy

Mooseville · 16/10/2016 15:16

Afternoon everyone! Moonlight I've just done the same shopping, I did manage the weekly shop but came home with loads of extra crisps, nibbles, cereal and bread as I kept thinking "ooh that'll be good to nibble on when I feel queasy!" DP waslike, what the hell have you bought? It's not Xmas yet!
