SBS maybe call your midwife to see if you've become anemic. What you are describing sounds a bit like low iron levels and I think pregnant women are more at risk for developing anemia (could be wrong).

kikisdelivery · 29/09/2016 16:47

Bloody tell me about it Sparkles! I'm really sorry to hear your work has been getting you really down though, that's horrible for you. Sad

I can at least switch off next week....hols!.... and just do my very best today/tomorrow to get as much done as I can. Sometimes, though, you're just waiting on other factors!

I shall be stopping at the shop for a giant family sized bar of dairy milk tonight, and making that my dinner! Grin

Wonderlust123 · 29/09/2016 16:48

Sparkles, sorry to hear you're feeling that way. I love teaching, but it's definitely the paperwork and parents that make it painful.
One of the kids said to me today, 'my mummy said why is your tummy so big'! Grin
I'm looking forward to getting dressed in the morning and not consciously looking for the most shapeless top to wear!

I'm loving the name talk Smile . We've pretty much decided on Archie for a boy (but likewise m not telling anyone in rl). However, I would prefer to have a full name on the birth certificate, and am not keen on Archibald (apologies if anyone has named their child that, just my personal preference). Still stuck with girls names, but am leaning towards Elodie or Eloise (shortened to Ellie). Also, quite like Lucia.

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 29/09/2016 16:52

Sorry you're struggling SB and Kiki I don't know if it's any consolation but I definitely have days where it's all too much then a few days later everything seems wonderful, kind of like a different version of PMT (which I'm well versed in...)

SB Would having a regular break away from the kids every day where you can go to have time to yourself be possible? I also think the vitamins give me a boost when I'm tired, Thursdays seem the worst at the moment!

On another note, a colleague just told me about something called the babylist (though I think the name has changed to Anitashouse). His wife went there - it's a warehouse of their picks of the best baby stuff where you can see it and buy it then arrange to have it delivered the week before baby arrives, rather than having a houseful of bits. She apparently does all the price comparisons or takes a list of what she wants then buys it if it's cheaper there... May be worth a look for those based in London who don't have lots of time for browsing?

DottyA · 29/09/2016 16:56

Wonder what about Archer if you don't like Archibald? It was one of my choices but DP vetoed it....

SB I second what London said about anemia - I'm pretty sure you are at risk when pregnant.

SB definitely give your doctor a call. I've been feeling really low and exhausted and I'm sure it's not normal at 22 weeks. A few people have commented that I look pale and tired, last time I was full of energy in the second trimester and this time I feel worse than I did in the first. I broke down on Sunday night with the sheer exhaustion of it all, so on Monday I called my GP's reception and they've arranged for me to have a blood test to check for iron levels before the standard 28 week ones at my hospital. I'll get that done tomorrow on my day off. It might not be anaemia, but I thought I'd at least rule it out as it's an easy fix if it is that.

Hope you manage to get some rest, it's tough feeling like this.

twocatsandatoddler · 29/09/2016 17:05

London you're right - apparently 1 in 7 women in the UK develop anaemia in pregnancy, it's because of the extra blood volume which means you don't have enough red blood cells to carry the haemoglobin (I just googled it this week after a friend suggested I might be anaemic because I'm struggling so much).

Evergreen17 · 29/09/2016 17:23

Ohhh kikis you poor thing. I hope you feel better now. Spain has one of the best health cares in Europe and world wide. And dont worry about not understanding because it very rare for people with a degree in Spain not to speak some English of not quite a bit. I know because it is my homeland Smile
Mshepp wow that was a quick scan! Good that it went well.
Twocats I am with you and the spelling of the name. I have so much trouble getting people to write it right...
I am defo only announcing the name when bubba is here. Because people cant then be rude about it or else.
Sparkles oh no!!! I am not a teacher at a school but I work in education. It was soooo hard last week. This week so much better as my very lovely manager has given me shorter hours and more breaks. Not complaining Smile
Although still hard work! Damn kids Confused

I have been taking iron, even though blood tests said my iron was normal I felt very tired and now I feel better. But maybe the change of hours is what is helping
SCAN TOMORROW!!!

MarjorySunshineDust · 29/09/2016 17:25

Sorry work is crap kiki and sparkles I used to dream about maternity leave first time round, could not wait to leave.

My friend has just found out she is pregnant with her third, totally out of the blue. She had an emergency scan today and turns out she is almost 14 weeks! She's due exactly two months after me.

Shellbell0403 · 29/09/2016 17:41

Hey ladies! Baba is fine 😊 she's defo a she haha and she's being a wee diva! All fingers and toes perfect and measurements all good. Only thing is she wouldn't move to get the spinal measurements so back next week for that xx

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 29/09/2016 17:48

wonder must have missed your Archie post - I was literally having the same thought about that name this afternoon, I really like it but not a fan of the "bald" bit (eventhough I'm sure he'll have an amazing head of hair!)

A colleague has a brother called Arch, I'm sure he's an Archibald, but Arch sounds like a good grown up version instead of Archie, I think it would have to be with the right surname though. Archer is a good alternative too though.

ScottishSnowflake · 29/09/2016 17:58

Yay! Congrats Shell!!!

Evergreen17 · 29/09/2016 18:20

Yay Shell!
My scan is tomorrow. I had to be given the whole day off as hospital so far and I am worried they will ask me to come back if they cant get everything tomorrow. We are quite short of people and I would stress about asking for more time off...

LondonGirl83 · 29/09/2016 18:26

I like Archer as an alternative to Archibald!

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 29/09/2016 18:26

Congrats shell and two scans, lucky you!

LondonGirl83 · 29/09/2016 18:27

Congrats Shell

Shellbell0403 · 29/09/2016 18:47

Thanks ladies!! Glad to have you all to chat to!! Also told me why I may not be feeling alot of movements etc... my placenta is kind of up and round behind the baby to the right... sighs a breath of relief

SBSparkles · 29/09/2016 19:17

Thanks so much guys. I don't always go on here as much as I'd like and feel like I only come with a problem but I'd like to participate more. I have always had good iron levels but pregnancy is a whole new ball game so I'll make an appointment tomorrow. Thanks again so much - pregnancy can be lonely sometimes!
Congrats shell Smile** xx

Kellz92 · 29/09/2016 19:47

Hey ladies, missed a new thread starting again!! Not around much just now as I'm suffering bad migraines so dr has written to neurology hopefully I get answers soon.

Any one else feeling really breathless lately? Xx

CeeCeeEnnEss · 29/09/2016 20:06

SBSparkles I've been feeling a lot like you but hadn't thought of iron. We're all here for each other, that's why I like this group so much.

Congrats on all the successful scans today ladies! And good luck for tomorrow evergreen I know it's long awaited :)

SBSparkles · 29/09/2016 20:12

Kell that's a symptom of anaemia if it's all the time? I'm out of breath when walking up hill etc but think that's normal. Xx

twocatsandatoddler · 29/09/2016 20:16

Definitely get it checked CeeCee, it might not be iron but it's definitely worth asking the question as no harm in doing a blood test. I didn't think of it either until I was telling a friend how tired I was, and she said she had been anaemic in both her pregnancies and felt the way I do. She said in her first pregnancy she didn't realise until it came up in her 28 week bloods, so when she started feeling the same at about 18 weeks in her second pregnancy she took herself straight in for a blood test.

I've been finding I've been feeling very low and unable to look forward to anything as I'm just too tired to enjoy doing much. This time last time we'd just moved house and I was decorating and building furniture and generally full of energy. Such a contrast. I'm hoping tests tomorrow will show I am anaemic as if I'm not I'm not sure what else they'll be able to do and I might just have to live with it.

LondonGirl83 · 29/09/2016 20:37

My friend at work who is about a month ahead of me had to take all of last week as she was feeling so low and exhausted. She got her blood tests back and it was low iron which is the only reason it occurred to me!

Its amazing the things I've learned from all of you. Pregnancy is such a minefield I think its amazing we can all lean on each other and try to get advice etc.

SBSparkles · 29/09/2016 20:46

Two cats I'm feeling the same - almost hoping it is anaemia as otherwise it just means I'm tired! I spend a lot of the weekends in bed! Thing is, and I'm not sure if you the same, is that I sleep really badly. Even a deep sleep is interrupted by my bladder! That could be the cause too x

twocatsandatoddler · 29/09/2016 20:57

SB I'm not sleeping brilliantly but not that badly either, although I never manage to get enough sleep as my alarm goes off at 6am most mornings for work, and I'm finding once I'm awake I can't get back to sleep at the weekends even when I'm exhausted and DH is up with DS to let me lie in. Even when I manage to get an afternoon nap at the weekend I'm still exhausted. I feel really bad because it's DH's birthday this weekend and I'd planned to cook something nice on Saturday evening, but he wants to cook for me instead because I'm so tired!
