Three cats, kiki! I'm trying to get DH to agree to another kitten, maybe when the boys (still feels weird saying that!) are slightly bigger so they can enjoy the kitten stage too, but he thinks two is enough, for both kids and cats!

Ours don't get spoiled nearly as much as they did pre-baby! Lots of cat ladies on here, there have been a fair few cat pics shared on the Facebook group too!

wispaxmas · 24/09/2016 17:26

Congrats, ragdoll, I had the same extra scan last time as DD wouldn't cooperate to get good views of the heart, either. Enjoy the extra view of baby!

And another girl on the bus, Luna, congratulations! It could only still be a boy if you had a sonographer who only said girl based on lack of penis- they can usually see all the female anatomy, even the little ovaries!

Something to mention with the sad subject of stillbirth being brought up is keeping records track of movements- obviously in the case mentioned the mum went in as soon as she felt something was wrong but and still got sad news, but if you do go in with concerns about movement they will always be happy to check you out. Never feel like you're wasting anyone's time, midwives would much rather take the time and effort to put you on a trace and make sure everything is ok than miss something and end up with the very sad situation above. For me I went in shortly after 30 weeks last time with reduced movements, and even though they could see baby was moving on the trace they still booked a scan just in case, to check the placenta and cord. They say not to worry about changes in pattern before 28 weeks, but ANY change in the third trimester is worth having checked out.

twocatsandatoddler · 24/09/2016 17:28

ragdoll kids and cats can go brilliantly together! Ours are long-suffering and get mauled by a rowdy toddler quite frequently (I'm teaching him to be gentle, but he gets a bit overexcited and tries to rugby tackle them) but they put up with a lot and seem to know intuitively not to scratch or bite him, even when he's trying to pull them around by their tails!

FriendlyGhost · 24/09/2016 19:53

Kiki it might be worth going to the dr for advice. If you do need something then a pharmacist will just tell you to see a dr as you're pregnant anyway.
I agree children and cats are great together. Dd spent ages trying to coax one of ours onto her lap earlier. It was very cute!

kikisdelivery · 24/09/2016 20:16

Yeah, I think I might Friendly. It's much better now the day's cooled down and it's basically night time, so I'm thinking it might be worse on a holiday in a hotter climate Hmm. I will see how it is tomorrow and decide!

Cat catnip party is in full swing. I am so glad we have wood floors... there's catnip everywhere Grin .... I'm not a crazy cat lady, everyone does this for their pets, right?!!

Shellbell0403 · 24/09/2016 20:23

Can I ask a tmi question... is everyone having rather alot of discharge?

I'm a cat and doggy mummy... my boys get spoiled lots!! Lol...

Im so sorry for your friend. The thought of still birth scares the life out of me! As you may be able to tell I'm quite a worrier haha...

twocatsandatoddler · 24/09/2016 20:40

Shell not so bad this time, although it's definitely more than usual, but last time it was awful and I had to change my pants in the middle of the day. A bit TMI maybe! Just another of those lovely pregnancy things.

kiki sounds like something caused by hormones as those are all the classic places for hormonal spots. So I'm sure it's nothing too serious, but I agree to see a pharmacist or doctor if you're worried. I have loads of spots on my back this time.

MarjorySunshineDust · 24/09/2016 20:46

Luna I've had people say the baby could still boy a because the sonographer gave the usual disclaimer of not being able to say 100%, despite pointing out the 3 lines (labia I think) clearly on the scan!

I have two cats, one of them stays well away from DD but the other is brilliant with her. He's a very chilled out old Siamese. Took him a little time to adjust but is now happy to snuggle up on my lap all evening when DD is in bed and he does tolerate a lot of silliness from her Grin

kikisdelivery · 24/09/2016 20:51

Ahhh twocats it probably is hormones but this isn't spots as such, it's like dry, hot itchy patches Sad - it's probably similar to sunburn - that tight, dry feeling you get. But yes, I'm sure it's the baby!!

shell yes to discharge... between that and the dry skin I feel so sexy... Hmm

topmammy · 24/09/2016 23:16

So sorry for your friend kiki. It is such a tragic and heartbreaking thing to happen :( I didn't have one of those extra scans last time to check the blood flow to the placenta, nor did I ever go in for any reduced movements. I feel more anxious about these things this time around though, mainly because I think I just wasn't as aware of them last time!

I'm another cat lady. Got 2 tabby cats. They were once my fur babies- they even had cute little cat bunk beds when they were kittens. After having an actual human baby though they get far less attention and I could actually do without having them if I'm totally honest (!) But I won't get rid of them because that's just mean. DD quite likes them - she enjoys screaming at the top of her lungs when she sees them. Their poor ears! They run as soon as they see her now Grin

Still very impatient for my 20w scan here. Hurry up 7th October!

Mysterycat23 · 24/09/2016 23:32

Just found the new thread. Can't keep up! Grin

LunaPatuna · 24/09/2016 23:34

The sonographer definitely pointed to "lips" that seemed the correct shape at 20w scan so I guess we can only see what happens Marjory!
I haven't bought anything yet & didn't want to get anything gender specific but other people might.

I really hope I still have time for our cats when this little human arrives & they don't go feral! They're used to cat flap/being excluded from certain rooms etc I just hope they don't freak out too much with the crying!

Evergreen17 · 25/09/2016 05:26

Anyone else up at crazy hours? Sad I am so tired of the poor sleep already. 5 days for scan.

MarjorySunshineDust · 25/09/2016 07:50

Hope SBSsparkles finds us over on this thread!

Sorry you've had a bad night evergreen can you have a lazy Sunday?

With the cats it was harder in the early days I found when the baby was in bed and I was feeling touched out from holding her all day (she only slept on us during the day). I really didn't like the fluff balls climbing all over me at that point! My Siamese boy is very cuddly though, I honestly think he would be happy for me to carry him about in a sling. He can often be found around my husbands neck Grin

MarjorySunshineDust · 25/09/2016 07:57

Forgot to say Luna I'm probably going to buy quite gender neutral things as well just in case, got a couple of gorgeous babygros from jojomamanbebe recently. Rainbows and ducklings! They had a 20% off at the time.

divadee · 25/09/2016 07:57

Morning ladies.

I'm with you on the poor sleep. It seems I spend the nights kind of napping on and off not a proper deep sleep. Booooo.

CeeCeeEnnEss · 25/09/2016 08:02

Morning friends,

kiki I'm so sorry, that's terribly sad. Your friend is in my thoughts.

I'm a cat lady too, we have two 1 year old girls and I love them so much!

Blueskies80 · 25/09/2016 08:40

Kiki that is absolutely devastating for your friend. How awful. Thinking of her and you.

we do have a poor record on still births for a western country, I think the rate not changed much in the past thirty years which is scandalous really. We are lucky where i am as kings does a late growth scan at 36 weeks. Should be available everywhere. Along with routine testing for group b strep.

I've been having very broken sleep recently which just makes everything harder! Thankfully last two nights were better.
Started my Pilates yesterday finally, had to switch to a different place as my previous one closed. Hoping to banish some of the aches and pains!

Evergreen17 · 25/09/2016 09:30

Marjory lazy Sunday it is!
Rainbows and ducklings! Omg I need!!!!! SmileSmileSmile
Diva why cant we sleep already? I am only 20 weeks (tomorrow!)
Pregnancy pillow recommendations anyone?!!

MarjorySunshineDust · 25/09/2016 09:46

I know evergreen, I couldn't resist! As for pregnancy pillows, I had a long sausage shaped one last pregnancy, from Argos and it did the job. I haven't needed to get one yet this pregnancy, just using a regular pillow and comfy at the moment! A lot of people like the Dream Genii.

MarjorySunshineDust · 25/09/2016 09:49

I am seriously considering booking a private scan for 30+ weeks this time as we don't get any more on the nhs where I live. I feel like I need the reassurance this time as I feel more anxious than in my first pregnancy for some reason!

Ragdollmum1985 · 25/09/2016 10:09

Ever I haven't been sleeping very well the last couple of weeks and seem to wake up at least 3 times a night needing the toilet!! I had a nap yesterday afternoon and felt so good for it!

Me and DH are heading out to look at prams this morning and I'm so excited Grin I think I am going to look at pregnancy pillows too.

Marjory I am definitely booking another scan at 30 weeks. I had one inbetween my 12 and 20 weeks scan and it really put my mind at ease Smile

LunaPatuna · 25/09/2016 10:11

I have the Dream Genii Evergreen Marjory , its good for ensuring you stick to the left side for sleep & keeps your spine & legs aligned but I ended up with a more back & shoulder pain so have reverted to a small cushion at left side and a little cylindrical travel type pillow from Tiger for my back. I flip over to the right side for about 5 mins then flip back to left.

Rainbows and ducklings sounds good!

Evergreen17 · 25/09/2016 10:59

Thanks for pillow tips. Marjory some of them sound very expensive so maybe long sausage is the way to go.
Thanks luna I dont think I understand how you put one behind your back and how does it help??
Ok I dont need anymore clothes Grin apart from the jumpers I am knitting and the stuff mum bought I got 20 outfits (mostly sleepsuits) from ebay for £15 SO EXCITED

LondonGirl83 · 25/09/2016 11:02

Ever I was using a dream Gina until o started pregnancy Pilates. Since then my pains are gone and I'm sleeping much better.

blueskies I forgot we are neighbours! Have you joined the ED Winters Baby club (it's actually not just ED)

I'm also a cat mommy! I have 2 high maintenance ragdolls. I wonder how we'll cope as my girl cat is pretty neurotic as it is :)
