Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Sooo many gorgeous babies now! And equally lovely Mummy's! We are amazing! What a year! Can you believe it's been a year since our first tentative TTC thread!? Look how far we've come!

Roll up, literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

No news feefs, had some ice cream and beanie enjoyed it. No period pains either. Back on the countdown to D Day!

Lisa Jesus Christ you've had a bit of a nightmare weekend! Look after yourself and next time just let your cat kill the rat. I'd give your midwife a ring tomorrow and explain but I'm sure you'll be fine. Good news that your covered for tetanus.
This is why I'm a bit paranoid Lisa. as at the first signs of labour I need to phone the hospital and tell them I'm booked for an ELCS and then they'll bring me in right away as an emergency and do the c section then. BUT if I'm too far dialated then I'll have to have a vaginal birth I think I would literally shit myself at that point so I'm really aware of any twinges or aches. I think beanie will stick around like a good girl though...I hope.

Canters yeah my period pain was low down and even felt like it was in tops of my legs. Haven't had any more since 6.30pm so take it beanie was just having a wriggle down there. Have you got a date yet for your ELCS?

LisaTheSimpson · 25/09/2016 22:02

Completely understand the worry, Indi. That would be a huge change in plans, even if it was still a CS but became an emergency one.

Your mantra should be the complete opposite of what we all did for TTC - keep your legs closed! Grin

LillianFullStop · 25/09/2016 23:01

I just missed your post Lisa omg sounds like a hectic weekend! You've spent enough time in hospital for the OC checks and then this adds to the mix! Hope this week is easier for you - like canters says best to keep an eye on the wound for infection etc

Indi I'm sure she's a good girl and will wait patiently for her ELCS appointment. Understand now why you would be super aware of symptoms as going into labour would throw a spanner in the works of an otherwise planned CS. when is your actual 40w date?

IrregularCommentary · 26/09/2016 06:22

Indi my labour progressed so ridiculously quickly that I was touch and go for my emcs, and I was still fine to have one in the end.

I went from not being in labour to being 7cm dilated within 3hrs. I was 5cm when they first examined me at the hospital and realised Tamsin was breech and I then went to 7cm by the time I was prepped for theatre. They checked me again just before they gave me the spinal as I had pressure in my bum - not quite needing to push type pressure but very definite pressure.

The chances of your labour progressing anything like as quickly as mine are pretty remote so you should arrive at hospital with plenty of time.

They know you want a c section already so phoning ahead will have them starting the process ready for you to arrive rather than it only beginning after you get to hospital and they check you over.

Even if you do progress really quickly, I still had a section at 7cm dilated and it was absolutely fine. Low incision and I'm healing really well.

Honestly, the chances of you not being able to have a section, especially with them knowing about it in advance, are just so so low. Try not to worry Flowers

IndiX · 26/09/2016 07:27

Thanks irregular I know I'll be ok, just when I get weird pains I go on full alert. Glad you're heeling quickly, are you able to get about ok now?
Lillian my due date was 12th and ELCS is 7th. The ELCS date is subject to change though but I'll find out a definite time and date this Friday at my pre-op appt. hopefully they won't move it back any closer to my original due date!

How is everyone this morning? Hope babies/mummies/preggos all slept well X

Nevlet · 26/09/2016 08:06

Morning!

Sorry been quiet all weekend been off the grid enjoying having Bodhi home.

Hope everyone is well and had a nice weekend whatever you were up to!

Bodhi experienced his first Volkswagon festival... He slept the whole time. My Dad also got to spend time with him without him screaming and thrashing around for the first time- I was starting don't to worry he didn't like his own Grandad haha!

Am worrying already about leaving Bodhi with my Mum for a few hours tomorrow to get my hair done. It is in desperate need of a colour I can't remember the last time it was done and I know I have to leave him at some point but I just don't want to. Doesn't help that DP is now pressuring me to leave him with his Mum too so that she isn't offeneded. Really starting to piss me off the constant requests to leave him with her from the pair of them. Rant over!

Hope everyone has a good Monday- tidying the dressing room is my job as its like a jumble sale from being in and out last week!

Mileymoocow · 26/09/2016 08:09

Audrey much respect to your sister. Side saddle is one event I never got on with! My horse didn't like the shift in balance so would buck like a motherfucker.

pink I think let down is posh for leaky nips which I definitely have. Poor munchkin almost drowns when it's time for left booby.

All this talk of Christmas is getting me so ridiculously excited!

lisa I'm sorry you're having such a crap time Sad hopefully it'll be easy sailing from here.

Had a difficult night - little man has decided to nurse for 10 minutes every hour and a half so I've barely slept. Needless to say he is now flat out while I'm struggling to pull myself together! He has also started making a lot more noise! His favourite noise sounds like he's straining for a huge poo (he's not - his poos are definitely free flowing!) which really panics you in the middle of the night.

indi I have everything crossed for you that beanie stays put til the 7th! I'm sure she will but it's definitely natural to worry - especially with so many of us going against the norm and delivering early!

Harrison is 2 weeks old today. I have no idea where the time has gone

Hi Art! Another first trimester-er here, although fast approaching start of second trimester thank goodness, hoping to leave the sickness behind soon!

Potato that is such a lovely idea with the advent calendar, it will be so lovely to use it every year, very special. Cake, booze and sleep sounds like a winner to me too!
Love the sound of the Christmas sack too Bunch!

Haha thanks Miley Grin interesting that we had the symptoms at the exact same sort of time Feefs. I'm still feeling quite twingey and sometimes it it quite painful. Hope it goes away soon. Sounds really frustrating and disappointing with your sister. Sounds very similar to my relationship with my brother and also DH's two sisters... It shouldn't be like that though!

He didn't say much canters it was just the GP on duty at out of hours walk-in service. He didn't say what he was listening for but sort of went a bit weird and asked if they'd found a heartbeat at 8 week scan so who knows! He had next to know people skills but maybe I misinterpreted what he was saying, which wouldn't have been hard!

Lisa poor you sounds like you're having a rough time Flowers can't believe your cat caught a rat!! Shock I would not have coped well with that! I know miserable it is sitting waiting at walk-in centre.

Sorry you've had a rough night miley

We had a bit of a shitty day yesterday. We went for Sunday lunch with DHs family for his birthday and told them all the news that I was pregnant. His mum and dad wer absolutely delighted but it went down like a lead balloon with his two incredible cliquey sisters. Tbf there are wider issues as one of his sisters has been struggling ttc and they recently had some difficult news about options, which is why we told her first and seperately from the group. His other sister basically didn't react at all other than to be all concerned and hugging other sister. We got a few muted congratulations from the brothers in law but nothing much was said, no hugs no happiness at the news. I honestly wanted the ground to swallow me up it was awful. DHs parents tried to cover it up jumping in and saying what wonderful news it was but it just felt awful. Sis who has been struggling did give me a hug as we left and said she was thrilled for us but sister 2 didn't say anything then sent a text later on in the day saying she was worried about sister 1 and our news would have been difficult for her. Of course we know that, it's why we've been worrying about it for weeks and asked DH parents' advice about how to broach it! obviously it's difficult timing and sensitive subject which we're totally aware of but thought people would at least be a bit happy for us. Also what else were we supposed to do, wait til I had a 20 week bump and casually mention it??!! AngrySad sorry for massive rant!

Pinklily1 · 26/09/2016 09:15

Morning all

marmite, that sounds like a really difficult position for you to be in. Whilst it's awful that they are having difficulties TTC, you had to tell them at some point.

Sorry you've had a crap night miley. Hopefully Harrison will let you have some snoozes today.

canters, how much longer is your MIL staying for?

Fingers crossed you make it to your due ELCS date indi. It'll be here in no time!

Has anyone had mastitis? I've woken up this morning with a big red blob to the left of my nipple which is sore and warm to touch. My boobs felt huge during the night but Evelyn didn't take a great deal from them, so it may be related to that and then being over full.

Pinklily1 · 26/09/2016 09:16

lisa, how are you this morning? I would have panicked at the rat! Shock

LillianFullStop · 26/09/2016 10:16

Morning all - last week of work for me and the most urgent thing to worry about is where to go for my farewell lunch!

Indi hoping little one hangs on til ELCS date so can have a stress-free experience. Woah irregular that's quick for a FTM! I keep getting told it will take hours and hours DH and I are getting ready to line up box sets to watch etc.

Glad all is well with you and Bodhi at home after that stint in hospital nev. Why are MILs so needy!?

miley sorry about the rough night but look at little Harrison! 2 weeks already and that head of hair is impressive!

marmite I think you've done everything right (telling her first and broaching how to announce with PIL) - it will be awkward anyway it's done. Hopefully the next time you see everyone they will have processed the news a bit more and can actually show some happiness for your pregnancy. FlowersFlowers

pink I did a breastfeeding prep course and a red spot on your breast could be a blocked duct. it's not quite mastitis but it could turn into it if the block is not cleared up. they advise for you to feed on that boob to get things moving.

leoniethelioness · 26/09/2016 11:23

I haven't caught up yet but Indi - I was 3/4 cm dilated when examined at midnight and had my EMCS about 4.20 am. I wasn't re-examined so I can't tell you how far I got in that time but I was experiencing regular period pains during the build up. Hope this helps to reassure you a bit too. I'm recovering well but I'm exhausted as I can't sleep well when Theo sleeps and it takes a while to settle him too. Miley - I'm with you - another noisy sleeper here.

C-section ladies - I think that might just be me and Irregular - do you have much tummy numbness? I do and I hate it. It really upsets me.

BunchOfBobs · 26/09/2016 12:12

Pink I haven't but I've read a lot on it. As Lillian. Said it could just be a blocked duct. It's important if you get fluey symptoms to get to the GP asap as mastitis can be nasty. But it can be sorted before that point. The key is to feed feed feed, pump, massage everything to keep it moving. It will be sore massaging it but it will help. Also look up dangle feeding. Keep hydrated, drink lots.

Miley look at him! Amazing, where has that time gone?!! I know your pain, Atticus was better last night but the night before we were up every half hour ugh!

Marmite that must have been tough, I can understand DS1 being reserved as being upset, you did the right thing telling her off to the side and it's lovely her family are concerned for her feelings but DS2 can be concerned and happy at the same time. They'll come round in time I'm sure.

IrregularCommentary · 26/09/2016 13:41

Leonie - yeah, completely numb above the incision point for about an inch or thereabouts I think. The bit immediately above that is then where I feel a bit tender. It's not really bothering me as such, but it is weird. I think it can last a really long time as well. I guess it's where nerve endings have been cut.

How are you recovering generally? I can't really do much in the way of lifting, but other than that it feels basically ok now. Tender rather than painful.

LisaTheSimpson · 26/09/2016 15:00

Thanks Pink, I'm all good today! Grin Genuinely feeling really good and enjoying having some extra time to get stuff done (given we thought it may happen suddenly with intervention after all the OC stuff).

Sorry about your boobs. Hope it sorts itself out soon, or can be treated easily.

Marmite - more hugs here for you telling DH's family. It definitely sounds like you did the right thing and approached it sensitively with his sister (hopefully she tells the other sister you did that!).

PotatosMum · 26/09/2016 15:13

I managed to write a couple of posts over night and accidentally delete them so I'm sorry if I miss anyone out, it's probably because I think I've already responded Confused

Lillian yay! For last week Smile

Don't believe what they say about FTM labour going on for days. Mine was only 4 hours Shock

Lisa wild rats sometimes carry weils disease so if you get any cold like symptoms in the next couple of days get yourself to A&E... Pet rats on the other hand are lovely friendly mini-dogs Grin

Marmite you're OHs sisters sound awful. Fair enough that DS1 would find it difficult to deal with but you can't put your life on hold because she can't conceive and the other DS was just plain rude and inconsiderate. You should have responded to her text that you've done everything you could to tell DS1 gently but that you're very unimpressed with DS2's behaviour towards you and that perhaps she should try being a little more considerate to everyone instead of trying to make you feel bad about something outside of your control.

Miley Arya makes the straining for a poo sound in the night too. I used to think that she needed to be burped but after trying several times I've now come to the conclusion that she just doesn't think her milk slave deserves sleep!! Hmm

Aww, Harrison is so cute!

Nev being nagged to leave LO with someone would drive me nuts too. Our babies are newborn, they have no business being looked after by anyone but their mummy.
Can you not take him to the hairdresser with you or is he too fidgety?

Feel really guilty. Arya has a area of skin in her groin where the top layer of skin has been rubbed off by her nappy (it isn't bleeding or anything just very red) and she has nappy rash on her little bottom from having wet poop. I don't know how she got the problem with her groin as I always put sudocreme on her groin to prevent exactly that and I've been putting it on her little bottom too for the past couple of days but it doesn't seem to be improving Sad

Does anyone know how you work out what weight sleeping bag to use? I think Arya woke up a bit chilly last night so I'm thinking its time to change from blankets to sleeping bags.

I just bought Arya a wonder woman costume for Halloween! Grin

leoniethelioness · 26/09/2016 15:15

Irregular I feel pretty good but I've basically had a month of resting at home and being driven to places with parent and child parking spaces to nip out for coffee! I struggled a bit getting the car seat off the pram chassis with Theo in it - I think I've lost all strength! I have almost got stuck a few times holding baby on the sofa because I can't get myself up without using my arms. My stomach muscles are shot. My wound looks pretty good though. I think I'm going to get DH to stroke my tummy to try to desensitise me to the new sensations - it really weirds me out!

AudreyBradshaw · 26/09/2016 15:31

pptato I've heard metanium (I think it's called) is very good for nappy rash when sudocrem hasn't shifted it. I got a tube from tesco for the "just in case" medicine basket.

Could really do with dh getting a start date for this job now, he's running out of cupboards to organise! We're applying for more/different ones now as it could be at least another fortnight before he even gets a date to start. And then it would be a month before a potential payday. He's bored of waiting!

marmitecheesetoast · 26/09/2016 16:08

Thanks everyone, it's just so frustrating when we have been concerned about being sensitive to DSIS1 and have really thought about how to broach and have actually been really worrying about it ourselves for DSIS2 to then react like that. It's not like anyone's annoyed with her for already having babies! I've always struggled to feel part of the family and had always hoped when I was pregnant it would be a bit of an 'in'. Just horrible being made to feel so irrelevant really I guess. DH is furious with Dsis2. Potato DH replied to text saying that's exactly why we told Dsis1 seperately and were trying to be as sensitive as possible but I couldn't get him to say anything about how her behaviour had made us feel. Oh well, it's done now...!

Exciting about last week at work Lillian hope you get a lovely leaving lunch sorted!

Hope Arya's poor wee sore bits get better soon Potato.

AudreyBradshaw · 26/09/2016 16:21

Marmite you did the best you could as sensitively as possible. You can't allow for other people's reactions and you can't be responsible for them. Flowers

miley both her and the horse seem to be taking to it like champs! She wants to compete side saddle I think, I might put a pic on instagram of her and the horse!

OP posts:
IndiX · 26/09/2016 17:26

Marmite I agree with the others, you were as sensitive as you could be and you and you can't stop ttc or being happy because she has had fertility problems. I think you sound like you've handled it very well and Sis2 doesn't sound very supportive or kind to you. Glad the inlaws were excited though, sorry the announcement didn't go as plannedFlowers

Aww bless little Arya, hope you get it sorted quickly potato. Don't feel guilty it isn't your fault and nappy rash happens to loads of babies even when you try so hard to keep it from happening. Wonder Woman costume sounds amazing! Where did you get it from? I'm going to have a look on eBay/Amazon for some cute newborn Halloween outfits.

Leonie/irregular glad that you are both recovering well from your c sections. I had a bit of a wobble this morning if an ELCS is the best option ( I know it is for me but I'm just having last minute nerves I think), this sounds really vain but I'm worried my body will never look the same. I'm scared I'll never have a flat tummy again and I'll have a saggy, overhang belly at nearly 26 years old. It sounds really stupid and I'm sure once beanie is here I won't care. Are your stomachs getting back to normal and slightly closer to pre-pregnancy size and shape? Obviously i know its really early days for you both and I don't expect anyone to get back to normal that quick but I'm just worried I'll have this big jelly belly for ages!

Miley sorry you had a shit sleep but Happy 2 weeks little Harrison!

I've just had a weird experience at the GP. So I was complaining about a sore foof the other day and after a couple of days of rest and no soaps or lacy knickers it seems fine. I went to the GP anyway just incase it was an infection and to see their opinion. So she went through a list of thrush symptoms, I only had 1, she didn't even look at my foof and said she'll treat it as benign thrush and give me some cream even though I don't really have thrush symptoms. How strange?! She said if I'm still a bit sore/sensitive then it wasn't thrush and she'll do a swab.
How odd...my foof has actually been fine since Saturday so I may just seen how I go without the cream.

leoniethelioness · 26/09/2016 18:11

Indi I have a jelly belly and a definite overhang, and I'm about two stone heavier than I ought to be. Sorry! I'm sure the overhang will sort itself out a bit with diet and exercise. I'd probably have something similar from a vaginal birth. It's the tummy numbness that upsets me the most as I've read some people never get sensation back. My wound looks really good though - it's neat.

BunchOfBobs · 26/09/2016 18:31

Potato I have grobag thermometers which tell me what tog to use. I have a spare so if you want I can send you one if you DM me your address.
Wonder Woman costume sounds amazing. I need to get Atticus' sorted.

IrregularCommentary · 26/09/2016 19:28

Indi I have a slight overhang atm, but it's still a bit swollen and I only had the section 2 weeks ago so it's not really had much chance to go down yet. The scar itself is super neat and below my bikini line.

Weight wise, I weighed myself a few days ago and I'm slightly less than my booking in weight. Upper stomach is pretty good tbh though lower is definitely a bit bigger. As I say though, it's still really early days after surgery so I don't think it's necessarily indicative of a permanent issue!

You're a hell of a lot more fit and active than I am as well (the only spinning class I ever went to I literally thought "fuck this" after about 5 minutes and walked out) so I'm sure you'll bounce back anyway just through exercise.

IndiX · 26/09/2016 19:35

Hahaha your spin class assessment made me laugh irregular! Yeah I feel really vain worrying about how my belly will look but I guess I'll just have to work harder to get it back. That's great about the weight loss! How much did you put on in total? It probably is a lot of swelling near your scar so you won't be able to see your shape for a while I imagine.

Leonie I'm sure your tummy numbness won't be forever. If it helps when I had my boobs done ( about 5 years ago now) I couldn't feel my left nipple for a good 6-months and thought I'd never have any sensitivity again but it did come back eventually. It's just the nerve endings, also I'm sure you'll get back to pre pregnancy size and shape with diet and exercise, obviously when you're ready though!! And don't be sorry, id rather you be honest so I know what I have coming!
