Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Sooo many gorgeous babies now! And equally lovely Mummy's! We are amazing! What a year! Can you believe it's been a year since our first tentative TTC thread!? Look how far we've come!

Roll up, literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

I've just been to out of hours nhs walk-in centre. The GP was very strange.. He dipsticked urine and said no sign of infection but given I had some symptoms of uti he would prescribe antibiotics anyway because if there is an infection which is causing irritation it could cause the uterus to contract and 'expel the product' Hmm this was after he's done an examination of me including listening to abdomen with a stethoscope for a while and asking me how many weeks pregnant did you say you were and have you had a scan yet? I told him 12 week scan was next week but that id had 8 week scan at which point he raises his eyebrow and asked if the 8 week has been fine and if they'd found a heartbeat. Wtf. So now of course I've convinced myself I've had a MC... He probably just didn't know what he was doing and it's reliable at that stage to find heartbeat like that, right??

Hope the bath helped you Indi

Co5mo · 24/09/2016 15:18

WTF Marmite? I'd be in favour of completely ignoring the GP you saw. If you're urine dip was clear the chance of you having a UTI is very very small. There's no reason to think you've had an MC either. What a horrible experience for you.

Audrey I'm pretty sure your OH is entitled to two weeks statutory paternity leave regardless of how long he's been in the job but it is only paid at the same as smp.

BunchOfBobs · 24/09/2016 15:20

Marmite panic not, you're not supposed to hear a heartbeat with a stethoscope until 18/20 weeks. What an idiot of a GP. I was put on antibiotics at symptoms of a non existent UTI too. Mine turned out to be bruises as I'd gone a bit hard with the Doppler oops.

IndiX · 24/09/2016 15:23

Marmite what a horrible experience for you. I'm not expert but I'd say at 12 weeks he wouldn't be able to hear a heartbeat with a stethoscope anyway (I might be wrong though), I'd completely ignore him. I was offered antibiotics after they diagnosed me OVER THE PHONE, hadn't even done a sample. Once I insisted on them doing a dipstick test first there was no infection anyway. I'm glad I didn't take antibiotics unnecessarily!
Call your midwife Monday, it's very unlikely you've had a MC so please don't worry. Just drink loads and loads of water.

My bath has slightly soothed me but I now just feel tender and swollen, probably from angrily scratching this morning Sad

LillianFullStop · 24/09/2016 15:36

Good to hear all is well Lisa and how exciting that bub will be here in 2 weeks or earlier!

Happy belated birthday potato! Well done on the birthday DTD - I am in awe I don't think I'd let DH come near me for 3 months at least!

miley how annoying of them to worry you unnecessarily Confused but glad it got straightened out and Harrison is growing as he should!

marmite that GP sounds like he has no idea and had minimal antenatal experience. Very odd comments and conclusions!!!

Had a lovely pregnancy massage today - probably the last one before i go into labour. Wish I could get one every week but they aren't cheap. Will just have to hassle DH for one. 36w tomorrow and will crack open my raspberry leaf tea. Also it is my last week before ML. They say time goes slowly towards the end but it seems to be going fast for me! Everything sorted and washed and hospital bag packed now in case she comes early.

AudreyBradshaw · 24/09/2016 16:01

Marmite there is no way he'd have been able to hear a heartbeat through a stethoscope at 11/12 weeks. None. A doppler may pick it up,but even then, unlikely. My midwife used a pinard at 25 weeks and said it's only because she was trained using a pinard (before dopplers were common use) that she is confident at doing it (with 34 years experience). Your doctor sounds like a bell end who didn't know what he was talking about. And agree with indi drink water and rest.

lillian sounds like a lovely massage has done you the world of good. Smile

co5mo no, unfortunately no entitlement to paternity leave or pay. And tbh he wouldn't cope with a fortnight not earning anyway (especially at the minute) best I can hope for is that he can do the end of labour/birth and a day or so after. He won't push for anything in case they don't keep him on. Will have to start doing the fanny fisting with coconut oil thing...perineal massage! And hope for a quick recovery! No point stressing about it yet, they may be kind and let him have a few days, if not, I'll cope! Grin

Any cloth bum mums able to recommend all in one nappies to try? We've picked up two Miosolo nappies from Aldi and they seem good so far but wanting to try others too! Bonus points for cute prints.

BunchOfBobs · 24/09/2016 16:34

Leonie Theo looks absolutely adorable in his miosolo. We've just picked up the Aldi ones too and already have 6 of them, I love them. I don't have any other aios but pockets are good we use TJs as they're super cheap, once they're stuffed they're just the same as aios. Are you using disposable or fleece liners? I can highly recommend Little Lamb fleece liners, they're so lovely and soft. There's a lot of Facebook groups which give good advice and you can buy preloved ones for really cheap.

marmitecheesetoast · 24/09/2016 17:04

Thanks so much for the reassurance guys, feels lots better now! Now I've calmed down and thought about it rationally obviously it would be extremely unlikely to pick up hb with stethoscope at 11 weeks! God knows what he was doing he obviously had no idea and a terrible manner! I do feel a bit weird having just been given the antibiotics anyway but the pharmacist said it was NICE guidelines... I've got 12 week scan and MW appointment on Thursday morning anyway so hopefully all will be fine at scan.

Sorry again for selfish post, will catch up properly when I have a minute! Really appreciate all the replies Smile

AudreyBradshaw · 24/09/2016 17:16

Marmite your baby is about the size of a sprout. The heart is probably the size of a pip. Unless the doctor had super human ears, there's no way he'd have heard it through a stethoscope. He sounds horrendous aswell in the way he dealt with you, bedside manner of a bloody arsehat.

BunchOfBobs · 24/09/2016 18:00

Glad you're feeling better about it marmite. Stop apologising, no such thing as a selfish post on here, we all have our worries moments.

The photos of Atticus are all up on my photo wall now, so chuffed. Have had a lovely day on the sofa watching Kerrang tv all day reliving my college years Grinbizarre that the playlists have barely changed in 15 years. DH made a DIY version of Starbucks pumpkin spice syrup so I've been in defaced latte heaven.

Expressing Mamas, how satisfying do you find it? Im loving it, I feel like I'm in competition with myself of the previous day. I'm only using a Haakaa pump at the mo which is just a vacuum that basically just collects let down. Yesterday I collected 1 oz in one feed and today I got 2oz off of one boob in one feed. I'm well chuffed. Looking at getting the medela manual pump and the medela calma teats/bottles just so I can have an emergency stash/escape stash so I can have a couple of hours away from the boob monster. I've read it is a lot more fruitful than the electric pumps.

I hope all preggos and Mamas have had a nice Saturday. My sometimes bff is coming tomorrow to see Atticus for the first time, I'm really looking forward to it, which is a nice change as we've had a fraught friendship of late.

AudreyBradshaw · 24/09/2016 18:37

Haha bunch I did that the other day, thinking I'd reaquaint myself with modern rock, it was the same stuff from when I was in 6th form! Literally, the top 100 play list had not changed since 2003! I felt very youthful! 🐧

Pinklily1 · 24/09/2016 19:11

marmite, that GP sounds like an idiot.

bunch, I love expressing Smile I filled the collecting bottle yesterday and was so pleased!! I have the single Medellin electric pump and it's great, I would definitely recommend it as a brand (appreciate you are looking at the manual one).

leonie, how cute is Theo in his nappy?!

Hope everyone else is ok.

Pinklily1 · 24/09/2016 20:29

*medela pump

BunchOfBobs · 24/09/2016 20:37

Pink are you a Narcos fan by any chance? Just because of the auto correct to Medellin Wink

Sodasoda · 24/09/2016 21:02

What a horrible experience marmite As others have said, they won't be able to pick up a heartbeat that early with a stethoscope. At my 16 week midwife appt they warned me they might not be able to hear the heartbeat with a Doppler as it was still really early.

Potato in awe of you DTD! Did your OH say it felt normal? I'm worried things will have changed down there as I am leaking a bit of wee. Blush Doing pelvic floor exercises like a mad person. I don't want to leave it too long - was planning on waiting til my 6 week check and then seeing how o felt.

Mummies - how is the post birth bleeding if that's an OK question?! I'm 2 weeks post birth now and I'm wearing a sanitary pad (definitely need that rather than panty liner). Its not especially heavy but I don't feel like it's getting any lighter really.

BunchOfBobs · 24/09/2016 21:07

Soda I was able to use just a liner by 3 weeks and it was over by 4 weeks. I'm spotting again now though so back onto a liner - 6weeks post natal. GP said despite breast feeding I can still get breakthrough bleeds. I have no cramping at all though so I'm giving it a week and if it hasn't fecked I'm back to the GP.

Sodasoda · 24/09/2016 21:17

Thanks bunch. I haven't really had any cramping at all. I find that I tend to bleed mostly when I'm feeding, is that normal?

PotatosMum · 24/09/2016 21:27

For god sake! That's the second time in as many days that I've written a long post and then deleted it like an idiot Angry

Bunch hope you enjoy the visit with your bff... I have given up on my now ex bff and am mostly over the falling out last Christmas but I do still keep track of how long since she was supposed to text me to arrange a meet up. We're now at nearly 10 months which I feel is a bit of a stretch of the definition of a couple of weeks. Tbh if she contacted me now id tell her to get stuffed.

Leonie Theo looks adorable in that nappy.

Audrey I hope your DHs work is understanding and give him a couple of days. Let's just hope his boss has kids!

All those saying about being worried about DTD. It really was ok. I waited until I was no longer getting any discomfort from my stitches/scar, and my bleeding had completely stopped for a few days and OH was informed he had to take it slow, be gentle and stop if I told him to. It stung slightly for a couple of seconds at the start and was then just normal.
If anything the biggest problem was that I have no abs anymore Sad
Pink Arya is just over 5 weeks Smile

Marmite I second what everyone else has said, that dr was obviously an idiot! You'd struggle to find a heartbeat with a Doppler at your stage!

Bunch OH isn't pandering to DSD but he's also not nipping it in the bud. Guess we're just going to have to see how it goes.
Today my friend brought their daughter who is two years younger than her round, you really couldn't tell any difference in their age from their behaviour which makes me feel a little better about thinking that DSD is immature for her age as it looks like I'm right. Unfortunately her mums step-kids are also both immature and troubled so I don't think that helps.
We had lots more, I'm a baby, carry me, take me to bed etc. Tonight.

Pink Arya also has problems with the legs of sleep suits and absolutely everyone in our family is short. I tend to put her in larger sleep suits and roll up the arms.

BunchOfBobs · 24/09/2016 21:28

Completely Soda, it's because feeding cause your uterus to contract. I didn't cramp either but because gp said I could have breakthrough bleeding I assumed he would mean as in a period. It certainly doesn't feel like one. He did warn me that the first real period is going to be bad ShockThankfully breastfeeding will delay that.

BunchOfBobs · 24/09/2016 21:38

Potato were you nervous DTD? I'm in awe of you. I'm still tender and back to bleeding so it's a way off for me. I want to give my scar another 2 weeks. I always think of you when I'm having issues with so called BFF, I remember you had a similar shit time with yours. Mine is emigrating in 3 weeks time so this is potentially the last time I'll see her, certainly for at least a year. I'm looking forward to the stress being over. But I am looking forward to seeing her. Definitely tell yours to get stuffed if she ever crawls back, you deserve so much better.

Is anyone else as weird as me and just loves doing the laundry because you get to fold all the diddy gorgeous baby items .Grin The pile of outgrown clothes is rapidly growing though. He's officially wearing 3-6montjs clothes though eek!! #giantbaby

Sodasoda · 24/09/2016 21:39

Thanks bunch. I'm surprised by breakthrough bleeding / period - I didn't think you got periods while breastfeeding

BunchOfBobs · 24/09/2016 21:40

Soda I don't trust it is. I think it's still Lochia but odd I had a 2 week break, that or is my internal part of wound bleeding? Lord knows.

PotatosMum · 24/09/2016 21:52

Soda OH didn't say how DTD felt but he seemed to enjoy himself Wink
My bleeding took about 4 weeks to stop so give yourself time Smile I think I ovulated a couple of days ago (not breast feeding and used to ovulate early in my cycle) so I'm expecting a normal period this month Sad

Bunch I was terrified before DTD but you can't put it off forever Smile

I don't enjoy laundry but I do like looking st all the baby grows on the line. Arya is officially in 0-3 clothes now too and even some of those are snug Sad

Co5mo · 24/09/2016 22:04

Audrey I do hope your OH work are reasonable and give him something in the way of leave. Have they told him he can't have any time off?

So I thought I'd gone into labour briefly this evening while out for dinner. BH that went into my back and down into my bum painfully. Turns out I eaten too much and needed to poop Blush. Full of BHs again tonight.
