Never heard of the Matb1 and didn't know we had to give it to our workplace 😁. I shall definitely be asking about this at my 16wk app. on Thursday. On another note, had our private gender scan today and we're having a girl. I'm over the moon and nearly cried when she told us!

LondonGirl83 · 05/09/2016 15:42

My work has also asked for the MATB1. They say they need to have it by 25 weeks. I spoke to my midwife today and she said I'll get it after 20 weeks.

Cozzle the NHS card that gets you free dental care etc is different to the MATB1 form.

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today. All well. Apparently my iron levels are so high they wanted to know if I was dehydrated concentrating my blood Confused

Also, I asked if I could hear the heartbeat and she said yes as long as I didn't panic if she couldn't find it. Nice strong heartbeat (144). Its always nice to hear even though I heard it two weeks ago when I met with the consultant Grin.

I finally bought a maternity pillow today as my hip pain is getting worse. I also got a referral to physio from the midwife (SELDOC put in my notes to do so). They suggested I get some sort of band to wear-- sounds sexy...

LondonGirl83 · 05/09/2016 15:44

Congrats Sienna on the baby girl and to all the other ladies who have recently found out the sex of the baby.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 05/09/2016 16:29

I still don't have my NHS card. Took until 28 weeks last time to get it and that was after me asking lots. Luckily my dentist will book me in without it once I'm past 12 weeks, just need to make an appointment really seeing as I'm 18+3 lol

LondonGirl83 · 05/09/2016 18:32

Oh dear ladies. Just had a very emotional chat with HR and the head of our European business. I basically told them I don't want to do the role I'm doing long term. They were very understanding and accommodating but I still ended up breaking down in tears. I'm sure the entire office is convinced I've been sacked!

I can't even understand why I'm so upset except for the fact that I think I realise I am going to probably quit and go to another firm (who are chasing me despite me being pregnant) post maternity leave. This is very sad for me because I've been here for almost 10 years and love the company. I'm so loyal and they have been so good to me, it all feels very sad.

Still, I'm sure they are as perplexed as the rest of the company as to why I'm a red-eyed puffy mess.

Twocats thanks for reply. But even on my maternity notes on the list of appointments it says "25 weeks- MaTB1 can be released" and midwife was adamant and she said employers know this but they still push it Confused
Well give it sooner, why not??!!

Dreamingoutloud now I am worried I wont qualify! It is silly! Reading I will ask at the scan too. It is just rubbish that my midwife is still off sick so I am stuck with different ones at each appointment!

Mystery I live in Surrey but work in London. I guess I will talk to HR and tell them

And who do I call to ask Friendly? The midwives? My GP reception??
Because you have your appointments at the hospital dont you? I have them at local surgery. Please do tell me if you ask.

Shell i have an appointment for my 25 week and work needs it before then or just then by Friday and app is on Thursday but not sure if work needs it the week before

So tired

First day back teaching my lovely new class but my tummy is sore! Bending down and moving around so much. At home now with my feet up and the tv on.
Thanks for the info on matb1 form - oi totally forgot I needed to do it!

Shellbell0403 · 05/09/2016 18:47

Can I ask... is there a limit of how much smoked salmon we are allowed to eat?

ever I'm sure your work will understand and maybe give a weeks extension?

London hope your ok.. you would have been upset because your emotions are all over the place!

SBSparkles · 05/09/2016 18:48

Shell I don't think you're supposed to eat raw fish?

LondonGirl83 · 05/09/2016 18:55

Yes, I blamed hormones and that's almost certainly true. I'm really fine except that I've made an ass of myself.

Ever legally you do not need to provide your employer with the MATB-1 until 3 weeks before you start claiming Statutory Maternity Pay (i.e. 3 weeks before you start maternity leave).

www.gov.uk/maternity-pay-leave/how-to-claim

Just email them the government link above. The only think you need to do by 25 weeks is inform your employer regarding your intention to go on maternity leave. They can request this is done in writing but that's it.

LondonGirl83 · 05/09/2016 18:59

Shell the NHS say smoked fish is fine. You should limit your intake of oily fish (including salmon) to two portions per week. Personally, I'm sure I've eaten more than this in some weeks and less in others.

www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/should-pregnant-and-breastfeeding-women-avoid-some-types-of-fish.aspx

GinIsIn · 05/09/2016 18:59

Shell - 2 portions a week max due to high pollution levels.

SBSparkles · 05/09/2016 19:03

So you can eat raw smoked salmon?

GinIsIn · 05/09/2016 19:07

Smoked salmon isn't actually raw - it's been cured which is akin to a cooling process. You still can't have raw salmon such as sushi unless it's been frozen first. Current guidelines here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/foods-to-avoid-pregnant.aspx#Smoked

GinIsIn · 05/09/2016 19:07

Cooking not cooling!

SBSparkles · 05/09/2016 19:13

Oh!!! I've been missing out all this time Hmm

Evergreen17 · 05/09/2016 19:14

Sienna congrats!!!!!
Ahhh London but well done on having the conversation and you must be pretty amazing if companies are chasing you Smile
Sparkles I have to face the children and the bending and picking stuff up in two weeks. Not looking forward to it.
Shell 17 weeks here too. Let us know the sex!

Naschkatze · 05/09/2016 19:30

Sparkles It was my first day back with the children too. My tummy is okay (I don't think it's big enough to hurt yet) but my back is killing! I've often had problems with sciatica type symptoms but it seems to be getting worse in the last couple of weeks Sad

Evergreen17 · 05/09/2016 19:46

Shell I dont think we are allowed smoked salmon because it is not cooked Sad
My 20w scan is on the 30th
Thanks London that is very useful!!!!

Wait WHAT?! I have been avoiding smoked salmon even though I love it! I thought we couldnt eat it!
