I won't be buying another pram this time, and definitely not a double. DD will be 2years 6 months when baby arrives but she already walks nearly 100% of the time. We live in a fairly rural village so have to drive everytime we want to go anywhere anyway. I will have a sling for baby or use my old pram which is a mothercare orb in black - not the fanciest but affordable and does the job well Grin.

I had a bit of a rubbish start to the morning unfortunately. I was carrying DD down the stairs and I somehow thought I'd reached the bottom step so put my foot right out only to then realise we were falling Sad I think I was on the third or second step from the bottom. Poor DD took the impact on her head against the wall. Luckily she is fine but I have been worried about her today! And baby has been moving about loads today so I am slightly paranoid about that too as today is the first day I've felt this much movement for such a long period of time. All the movement I'm feeling is also in just one place-under my left rib!

In other news a parent of one of the children I teach finally asked me today if I'm pregnant Grin. She said they all thought I might be but daren't ask just in case I wasn't hah! I'm glad it's out properly now as I was beginning to wonder if they thought I'd just eaten too many pies Hmm

I do have a hole in my hear that causes no issues ever, and also another problem where my heart rate and blood pressure drop and I pass out. It doesn't affect me and wasn't a problem in my last pregnancy last year.

Sparrowlegs248 · 15/09/2016 17:00

Sorry, posted too soon! I saw a consultant once last time and they were happy to discharge me. This time they fixated on my dad having had dvt, did the risk assessment wrong (said my bmi was over 30, it's not) so made a big fuss and started the process for me to have clexane injections daily til after birth....... What a palaver. I know it's best to be safe etc but nothings changed since last time. He hum
I've had two people at work outright ask me if I'm pregnant today,, topmammy I'm.clearly beyond just fatness!

divadee · 15/09/2016 17:03

How exhausting is it changing your address with the whole world and his wife????? I forget how many loyalty cards online shops etc... That I have accounts with!!!

Evergreen17 · 15/09/2016 17:37

Boom we are visiting a nursery next week, so exciting!!
Fenella I commute from Surrey. I think they are rubbish in most lines but maybe yours is ok Confused
Dont worry, maybe you wont have a problem, are you living there already? Did you experience the strikes?
BabyD I was told to book the whopping cough after 20 weeks scan
Ceecee what a gorgeous scan Smile
Diva I have been getting the pains when sneezing for weeks

So it looks like I am the only one not getting a pram Hmm
I am planning on carrying my bubba, at least for the first few months. I researched and apparently it can be done Confused

Sparrowlegs248 · 15/09/2016 17:47

I thought about not getting a pram evergreen, ad I carried ds and didn't use a pram with him until 5 months. However, he still won't be 2 by then, and naps well in the pram, so I feel I will need one. I may well wait and see. I am keen on having something that's not a dedicated double.

Evergreen17 · 15/09/2016 18:04

Aha! Notalot So you carried for 5 months then it can be done SmileSmileSmile

This will be my first bubba Smile

GinIsIn · 15/09/2016 18:27

Ever - we just left London so haven't actually tried the train yet! We are Brighton though which I think is better as we have the southern trains services, Gatwick express and the slower Thames services.

Readyfortwo · 15/09/2016 19:34

Notta I think the dvt question is new as I'm having similar over-reaction to my dad having it! No one bat an eyelid last time. I had 10 or 12 blood samples taken at my first consultant appointment & today I randomly received a letter inviting me to an apt with the consultant anaesthetist. They didn't mention it at my apt so am a bit confused about why I've been referred....is it related to the dvt? No plans to have a c-section so can't think of any reason why they need to see me....

Kellz92 · 15/09/2016 20:06

Congratulations on the scans ladies StarStar

divadee · 15/09/2016 21:17

I think I may of had my first Braxton hicks just now. I never had them with my daughter but it definitely felt tight for about 30 seconds and then nothing. I'm home alone as partner is out so had no one else but you ladies to share it with!

Shellbell0403 · 15/09/2016 21:22

Whooping cough injection tomorrow 🙈

BoomKapow · 15/09/2016 21:29

Well I had my 20 week scan but the baby was in a bad position so they couldn't get all the measurements. I have to go back in 10 days. Apparently it's really far back in my pelvis. But I just read I'm my notes that they couldn't get the measurements because of fetal position and tissue density. Now I'm paranoid it's cause I'm fat. Confused

BoomKapow · 15/09/2016 21:31

Didn't help that it was lying face down at the beginning. Although I like to sleep like that too so taking after its mother!

Evergreen17 · 15/09/2016 21:38

Ah fenella that is a different line to mine so you must be ok Smile

Wonderlust123 · 15/09/2016 21:42

I've told the head and some of the staff that remain from last year, but am keeping it quiet until my 20 week scan from everyone else (lots of baggy clothes!). Have been wondering whether anyone has noticed, and if they have whether they're just thinking I've put on a bit of weight!

Sparrowlegs248 · 15/09/2016 21:48

Evergreen oh yes my carrier was invaluable. I did everything with it. Even more so as the pram I did have didn't fit in my car!!

ready I was told I would have blood tests but realised after I left that I didn't have any. Not overly concerned......not sure re the letter though? I did have a c section, no issues......

boom it's quite common to have to go back. I had to last time, I got myself all worked up as they couldn't see the kidneys. It was just due to the position and was fine in the end. And I was told at the second scan that it was common.

Does anyone know about the protein in urine?

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 15/09/2016 22:20

Ever I'm wondering about not getting a buggy and just seeing how we get on with carrying too. Still haven't decided but it seems like an option, my colleague has a 3 and 6 year old and apparently never owned a buggy!

I can see the practical side though, if I went shopping on foot or something with bags and a baby, it might be hard to manage and maybe the weight in a few months might be too much to be comfortable.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 15/09/2016 22:21

ever I will be carrying baby lots as I like the closeness. For me the pram is used as a bag carrier half the time Grin . I don't drive and will often do a fair bit of shopping on foot and carrying a baby and all the shopping even without two toddlers with me would be impossible. If you're going to have minimal stuff to carry of say it can be done. For me personally iys near impossible lol. I barely use the pram for an actual child lately though haha!

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 15/09/2016 22:23

I didn't want to spend a lot on a pram with my first as I carried her lots and obviously didn't have other children to manage. I got the obaby v2 atlas for around 100pounds. Its a stroller type pram but can be used from birth as it lays down flat and has all the padding etc. I loved it and it lasted me well. Worth the buy to have as a stand by and folds up very compact

Blueskies80 · 15/09/2016 22:31

Evening ladies

London, the bee chassis does look quite streamlined/ minimalist (hence being so light and easy to fold) but I don't think my children have felt exposed at all in it. A baby would be in the cocoon or carry cot and so they would be more protected anyway, and a bigger baby / toddler in the foot muff so again covered. When they're walking age and hopping in and out then they have a seat cover you can use which adds a bit of softness it the seat (although we just unzipped the front of the foot muff and they can also sit on that) and also by then lots of children are in McLaren type umbrella buggies which are pretty basic in terms of the seat. In terms of handle height a friend who is fairly tall found it too short and opted for the bugaboo chameleon instead which is a bit higher of the ground (not sure there is any difference in handle height between the two). The chameleon is quite big and doesn't fold in one piece but is a popular buggy too.

In terms of doubles, we had the mountain buggy duet which is a slimline double and it was brilliant, and meant we could get out very easily, into shops and onto buses etc. But we did have a very small age gap so needed a double. My daughter was happy on the buggy board from 2.5 so we went back to the bee.

I'm another one that doesn't go near a supermarket ever, we have almost everything delivered as I simply can't take my two round the shops as it always ends in tears! Can't see that changing with a third!

21 weeks tomorrow and scan is a week tomorrow, exciting!

Gorgeous scan photos xxx

Notta I think protein can be a sign of an infection. More seriously, it can also be a warning sign of pre-eclampsia, but that usually has other symptoms, most commonly high blood pressure and swelling, and I think is highly unusual (though not impossible) this early in pregnancy. So if the consultant didn't take blood pressure it's worth getting that checked.

If bp is normal then it's most likely a UTI. Do you have any other symptoms? It's possible to have one with no symptoms in pregnancy, so they should have sent the sample to the lab to test. If you're worried it's worth asking whether they sent off a sample, and if not, make a GP appointment and they'll be able to send one off to test. UTIs can carry a risk in pregnancy if they are allowed to get worse and turn into a more serious kidney infection so doctors tend to err on the side of caution and prescribe antibiotics if they think there's any chance you have one, so I'd be surprised if they haven't sent the sample to the lab.

Shellbell0403 · 16/09/2016 07:09

Morning ladies...

I'm defo having a pram! Will also get a carrier but if out and about would like baba to be in a pram if having something to eat etc and for shopping and love walking with the pram... could walk for miles!

I like the silver Cross and the cossatto prams 😊

SBSparkles · 16/09/2016 07:11

Shell have fun with your injection! I've got my flu jab soon. Bit worried it might make me I'll as I'm off shopping in Birmingham afterwards! Anyone else having it?

SpinALittleFaster · 16/09/2016 07:36

We have ordered a second seat for our pram. I have a stretchy wrap and carriers but I'm quite a warm person and struggle to carry DD for an extended period. For me having somewhere to put her down on a warm day is a necessity as otherwise we're both at risk of overheating.
