I have no choice but to deal with litter sometimes as my partner works away 3 days a week (though my cat does usually go outside luckily!). I've just used disposable latex gloves and washed thoroughly.

Interestingly though, Expecting Better said there wasn't any evidence of an increased risk from changing litter trays (even though there should be in theory). I guess because most cat owners are immune. The real risk was from gardening apparently.

wispaxmas · 12/09/2016 19:51

Oh, buying things! I don't have much on my list as we have so much leftover from DD, but I do need to get loads of things back from friends that I've lent out, like the bouncy chair and playmat. I DO need to sort out a bedside crib as we rented a bednest last time. Might rent one again, or see if I can get a next2me crib, maybe second hand.. I randomly bought some new bottles and teats in the Amazon prime day deals back in July. I am also on the lookout for a bargain second hand mamaroo, but it's not necessarily a must have, just a WANT.

wispaxmas · 12/09/2016 19:57

Oh, but I did buy this beauty of a pushchair last month. I would wholeheartedly recommend any bugaboo. This is the Bee3, really great for city life. Also have the buffalo, which is amazing for off road use, but less ideal for public transport (though I have taken it up into London on train and tube in the past). Friends have cams and love them, only issue they had was the accessibility of the shopping basket when the carrycot is on.

piano, I'm going to the baby and toddler show at sandown park weekend after next. Went to it when pregnant last time, too, and they did have some good discounts. One friend bought her pushchair and saved about £200 overall with extras she got.

Crazycatlady123 · 12/09/2016 20:09

LondonGirl83 and kikisdelivery I have two moggie kittens Ben & Jerry. We were thinking about Ragdolls before we got these, Ragdolls are so beautiful. Found out I was pregnant a week before picking up these two but didn't have the heart to not get them not to mention the £180 on cat stuff I'd already bought. So it will be interesting to see what happens once baby arrives!

I've started doing yoga too, never done it before last week so not sure what to make of it yet but hoping it'll get me better prepared for what's to come.

LondonGirl83 love all the stuff you've chosen you're very organised! SausageDogGeorge I've not anything aside from a couple of baby grows after finding out the gender. I've inherited a list which has gone through a few people that have had babies but I won't be buying anything for a bit as we're still doing up our house from moving in December.

divadee · 12/09/2016 20:22

I may have found a cot!!!! I'm liking the haxby from m&p so have ordered a wood sample to see the colour of it. Only thing I'm not liking is the price of £79 for the matching drawer! How can a whole cot bed be £199 and a little drawer nearly half of that!

SkyLucy · 12/09/2016 22:19

Good lord, I haven't got a list, and have only bought one babygrow. You lot put me to shame - anyone else similarly unprepared?!

I passed my theory test today....now just have to learn to drive before Christmas. How hard can it be? Hmm

DottyA · 12/09/2016 23:04

It's not just you SkyLucy - I doubt I'll buy things until January. If we had a dedicated nursery I guess I might be more inclined, but as we don't (we're looking to move in the new year) I don't want loads of stuff cluttering up the house months before we need it. Plus I'm of the 'buy the absolute minimum until you know what you really need' school of thought. From what I can tell, everyone has different priorities/needs and until you have a baby, you won't really know what those are!

DottyA · 12/09/2016 23:06

Oh and congrats on the theory test. :-)

LondonGirl83 · 13/09/2016 00:39

Thanks Crazycatlady-- I'm really not that organised!

Shell I haven't actually done much that's practical. Yes, I've bought a race car and teddy bear but I haven't even picked out much less bought anything really useful like you know a crib, pram, carseat etc.

The list is a double edged sword in that it makes you panic a bit though does keep you organised. I know how long it takes me to pick things out so I'm trying to get through it a little at a time but if you are a quick decisive shopper I reckon you can leave it for near the end :)

Workinzzz · 13/09/2016 06:56

Morning lovely cat ladies - we got our car just before I found out I was pregnant last time and spent his 6 months kitten quarantine cleaning out litter tray with no ill effects. As a previous cat owner though, again I expect I'm immune. I think gardening is supposed to be the most risk, just make sure those hands are thoroughly cleaned afterwards and I'm sure you'll be fine.

I have had round ligament pains too, hopefully you're are nothing to worry about, sending you Flowers x

SkyLucy · 13/09/2016 08:06

Thanks Dotty Flowers

LondonGirl83 · 13/09/2016 08:29

Not Shell -- my previous post was to you sky. That's the problem with late night posting :)

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 13/09/2016 08:43

Ooh, I love all these bump pics! Smile

We're currently on holiday in the South of France and I've suddenly become aware of the lovely smiles folk are giving me. Yesterday we were stood in a red hot packed train station and I was offered a seat numerous times!

Unfortunately , DS brought a cold on holiday with him which I duly caught. The last two mornings I've been coughing so much that I've ended up vomiting again Sad think the worst is over!

Trust me to book a holiday to France when I'm pregnant and unable to enjoy the French wine and stinky cheese!

kikisdelivery · 13/09/2016 09:25

My OH has been in charge of the litter since we got the BFP Smile I haven't told him I can still change it as long as I thoroughly wash up afterwards! Grin. Our three are just mogs - two girls and a boy. The OH has decided he would prefer our bub to be a girl, because our girl cats love him so he reckons that's some sort of indication!! Mind you, our boy cat does flop on to my lap pretty much every night, so maybe it's some sort of sign of mummy's boy or daddy's girl!!!

Ifatfirst, we are going on holiday in the first week of October, to Malaga. We decided to book somewhere warm and reasonably-priced because we had to cancel our big 40th birthday (for him) holiday which was meant to be January. So like you, I will be looking longingly at Malaga wines and cured meat tapas!! I think I might allow myself a little glass of wine or two in the whole week, if we do go somewhere nice for a meal one night. Like you, though, it's the cheese avoidance which kills me... I'm such a cheese monster normally!!

kikisdelivery · 13/09/2016 09:27

Oh! Practical question for you all....

I currently cycle to / from work which I really want to carry on as long as possible. However, I think it might be the cause of some of my ligament pains because my belly isn't very well supported.

Stupid question I feel I ought to know the answer to by now... but I don't!!! Can I buy a supportive belly band or shorts or something, so it's less painful? I hear people talk about belly bands and I assume they're meant to be for supportiveness - would they do for something like cycling, and what brands should I look for? Ta!

Workinzzz · 13/09/2016 09:54

kikis

I had one from the physio department at the hospital last time but it was basically the same as this

kikisdelivery · 13/09/2016 09:59

Thanks work Smile. We have a JoJo here, so I might nip to town at lunch to get one... either that or John Lewis who also seem to do a band which is similar.

Witch91 · 13/09/2016 10:46

Morning ladies :)

Been an interesting couple of nights - horrible dreams last night about things happening during birth and losing the baby :( think i'm worried about the scan next week.

Sunday night I was woken up at 3:30am with the worst headache I have ever had - felt like my head was in a vice and pain going down my neck as well. I took a couple of paracetamol and it did ease and I went back to sleep, but it was a bit scary and I was very close to ringing the mat unit. I've had a headache off and on for the last 3 days, but it does ease with paracetamol. I think this is normal for this time - anyone experiencing similar?

I'm in the unprepared camp - i've only bought one set of babygrows, and nothing for the nursery yet. We're also going to babyfest in a couple of weeks, so i'm hoping that will help me feel a bit more clear about what we need!

Kellz92 · 13/09/2016 11:37

wispaxmas · 13/09/2016 12:45

workinzz, I know it wasn't me asking, but thanks for the link to the support band, I was just starting to think about ordering one. Does anyone know what the sizing is like?

LondonGirl83 · 13/09/2016 13:39

Sky let me know how you get on with learning to drive. I really want to learn as well before baby arrives but I haven't even started looking into it yet as I'm terrified I've left it too late to start...

Kellz glad you like some of the purchases! Decorating is the fun easy part. Will tackle the things that really matter in due course :) If its not rude of me to ask, I'd be interested in learning how PND and sleeping in the same room impacted each other. It never even occurred to me before that one my exacerbate the other so if you feel comfortable providing any tips or insight, I'd be interested in learning from you.

Kellz92 · 13/09/2016 13:49

London Its not rude at all. Even though she was a fab sleeper, all the wee noises etc was panicking me, and the anxiety was unbearable, the room i was in at the time was at mums as we were house hunting and it was so small i felt like i couldnt escape the panic attacks and was feeling so clostrphobic, i wasnt sleeping at all. My hubby phoned the HV at just how bad i was getting and it was getting worse with the lack of sleep, so she suggested trying it, since the spare room was right next door so with doors open we could hear and it calmed me down a wee bit. It was hard to explain but i just felt like i was in a black hole and couldnt escape, i didnt bond with her for months, i felt like i didnt want to be near her and when i was i panicked. Worst thing ever to feel like that abut my own daughter. But i had a traumatic labour so HV thinks thats what started it

It may not make sense to anyone but its was horrible to me

SkyLucy · 13/09/2016 14:33

Hi London - I'm too old 32 and have always absolutely hated the idea of driving, but thought I should crack it before bubba comes, otherwise we'll both be limited to public transport!

I had a few lessons two years ago and detested it, then had my first automatic lesson on Saturday and it was AWESOME. So much bloody easier!! Drove happily for 90 minutes. (You probably don't need convincing re the joys of automatic as you're American!)

Anyway, I'd say go for it, we've got time! Book in a theory test ASAP though, took me a while to get a post-work London test centre appointment.

I even convinced DH to buy us an automatic car if when I pass!

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 13/09/2016 14:36

Sorry you had that awful experience kellz It does make sense and sounds as though you did the right thing to move her. That's one of the things I worry about, neither DH or I are deep sleepers and I do wake up at any small noise.

General question to everyone - Would there be any sense in wearing earplugs that block out all the small noises but not the big ones, if you know what I mean? I really want to get a next to me bed to help bonding and don't want to be up and down all night ideally but am worrying that the little noises will stop me from sleeping too. Anyone else had that experience?
