oooh good luck for your scan Diva, I feel like we're all now fast approaching those next couple of weeks where we'll all be reporting back in again on how things are going - it's felt like forever to come round from the 12 week scan!

Welcome crazycatlady :) Like London I am always up for kitty discussions! We have three, all moggies, all extremely rude and the kind of cats who go door to door, begging for better food than we give them. Charming!

I had my worst aches and pains so far last night. We went to an outdoor car event and sat on the ground quite a bit, so my sides/hips and pelvis all ached and had sharp pains once we'd got back.

Does anyone else also find that aches and pains strike much more when stretching? I've now often found that - particularly when stretching in bed - I'll get much sharper stitch like pains than normal (only lasting a second or so) which I'm sure are all my muscles and ligaments protesting at me stretching them out further when I shift position.

Bisquick · 12/09/2016 11:08

Trying to decide between the JojoMaman Bebe maternity coat and the Next one (both with panels). Anyone with the Next coat? Could you tell me what the hood is like? Just want to know if it's a proper substantial hood or one of those flimsy things. I suppose I could order both and return one, but ideally would rather not!

And good luck for those with scans coming up!

I find I have more aches and pains when getting up after sitting or lying down for a while. Especially if I try to get up too fast. Found my first stretch marks this weekend - quite deep itchy little scars under my belly. Anyone have suggestions for stuff that actually worked to help them fade away eventually?

kikisdelivery · 12/09/2016 11:22

Bisquick I haven't had to put anything on for stretch marks as yet... though I am expecting to have to! I believe that the bio oil stuff is meant to be good, from what I remember folks saying in an earlier thread.

I booked an M&S bra measurement for later this week! I feel like a teenager again, but my boobs will thank me I'm sure! i'm currently wearing my normal bras but with an extender strap and they're now reaching their comfortable limit...It's all getting a bit squashed in there! Shock

SausageDogGeorge · 12/09/2016 11:36

Bisquick i have the Next panel maternity coat and the hood is quite decent actually! Not really flimsy, like some can be! Its padded but not as padded as the rest of the coat though. I would definitely recommend it though - was pleasantly surprised at how nice it is!!

Bisquick · 12/09/2016 11:40

Thanks Sausage ! Off to order now!
And thanks Kiki - I've heard people recommend Bio Oil - will give it a go!

SausageDogGeorge · 12/09/2016 11:42

Marjorysunshinedust I used the Booborbust measurement guide, did it all really carefully and it came back that I should be a 34DD. I ordered a Hotmilk nursing bra and it was HUGE!! it was comical it was so big! Bearing in mind i was a 34B pre-pregnancy I was a bit sceptical that i could be a 34DD already.....(wishful thinking?!).....I am going to order a 36C as thats the measurement I get when I use the traditional method! I will get there eventually Grin

Kellz92 · 12/09/2016 11:48

As per usual i have missed loads, was full of cold and dying all weekend, still feel rotten but cant afford time off just now!

Sorry if i have missed other posts, i have tried to skim through them but im at work lol

Im exhausted as barely sleeping with this cough and headaches!!

Anyone else looking at prams/pushchairs/car seats yet?

I LOVE the Silver Cross Wayfarer and Pioneer pram/pushchairs but haven't actually seen them in the flesh (so to speak!) yet. We are going to go looking at prams etc in a couple of weeks time after the 20 week scan. My mum and my PIL have offered to buy us the pram/carrycot/car seat combination which is lovely of them.

We are lucky to live 20 mins from the Mamas & Papas head office which has an on-site 'seconds' shop (mostly end of line products at reduced prices) and also around 40 mins from the Silver Cross factory outlet in Bradford which offer great discounts too.....both worth a look.....love thinking about doing all the exciting stuff!! Smile

haha I've just realised i sound like an advert for either M&P or Silver Cross - just love a bargain! Grin

FriendlyGhost · 12/09/2016 12:17

I haven't found anything that actually works for stretchmarks Bisquick. I religiously used expensive lotions and potions last time but still got them. I had a 10lb baby though so probably inevitable.
Love that there are so many cat lovers on here. My favourite mug says it all!

Sausage I have got mine - well its at mums, my mum and dad bought it. The cosatto Giggle 2 in Toodle pip im in love!

I do like the silver cross Wayfarer!!

xx

SausageDogGeorge · 12/09/2016 13:11

I would agree with that FriendlyGhost - I used BioOil last 2 pregnancies and still got stretch marks on my tummy (only got them in last few weeks).......my babies were 9lbs and 9lbs 9 though - i think if you're going to get them theres nothing you can do to stop it!

You're very organised Kellz92 Envy haha - i need to get my act in gear as no doubt we'll all be furiously christmas shopping soon (sorry to mention the c word!!) and then it'll be only a few weeks until due dates!! Smile

LondonGirl83 · 12/09/2016 13:15

No pram for me yet. I'm still working on getting everything for the nursery. My big accomplishment this weekend was figuring out which nappy pail / bin I wanted Hmm

We are still in the clearing out the house / spare room phase but by this weekend we should be able to start decorating the nursery and putting up all the practical bits that we've bought. My favorite recent purchase is this flamingo nappy holder: www.nubie.co.uk/playroom-furniture/toy-storage/wall-organiser-organic-cotton-flamingo

Its going to hang on the wall next to the changing table. I also bought a cute nightlight but too embarrassed by its cost to post Blush

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 12/09/2016 13:25

We're holding off on buying anything until we've been to the baby show at Olympia in october, also going to the mumsnet babyfest in a couple of weeks as it seems to have some good talks on. I'm imagining rows of buggies, cots, slings etc to try out in one place and maybe some discounts. Is anyone else going to either of these? Or been in the past and have any tips?

SausageDogGeorge · 12/09/2016 13:26

I am starting to feel very very unorganised!!! I have done absolutely nothing Blush Haven't even been in a baby shop! We moved house 8 months ago though and there isn't actually a nursery for the baby until we build an extension (hopefully next year) Grin so we don't even have a nursery to decorate. Love the flamingo nappy holder LondonGirl83 its fab!! Star

I need to draw up a list of what we need........Confused

LondonGirl83 · 12/09/2016 13:42

Piano-- I hadn't heard of the baby show (didn't know such a thing even existed). Sounds like its definitely worth going to. I am not the type that can buy on the spot though so I'll need to research everything I want ahead of time and then just try them all out there. Hopefully, I'll have an idea on which prams, cribs, bedding, car seats, I want by then. No way I'll have a view on my entire list. I'm still flip flopping about which laundry bag to get for the nursery...

Sausage-- every time I draw up a list I get terrified by the sheer number of things on it! Mostly because I don't even know what some things are for or what age you can use them from or if they are even useful (cotton wool, sponges, baby sleeping bags, swaddles, receiving blankets, breast pads, barrier cream vs nappy rash cream etc).

I only have one good friend with a baby so far (everyone I know has just started trying since we announced though) but I feel totally out of my depth Confused. It took me a week just to figure out a babygrow was the same thing as a sleepsuit (I think)....

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 12/09/2016 13:49

london I think I'm the same as you. I must have spent so many hours looking at travel systems, which one folds down small, which one has an easy to reach brake, how long will it last, does it have a cup holder etc, and all without seeing any IRL! I think I'll try and make a shortlist and just go to the exhibitors we want to see and maybe buy there (but probably go off and buy cheaper online...)

A mummy friend with 3 kids says she has a list that someone else gave her of the must haves, I must get hold of it and pass it on! I really don't want a houseful of useless (expensive) plastic in 6 months time...

Love the flamingo by the way! V cute and pink but not too girly. What else on Nubie are you thinking of?

kikisdelivery · 12/09/2016 13:50

I'm another disorganised person over here! Well, not disorganised, but a little too inclined to just sort it all out the day before! I swear if I have a deadline, even with a month's notice, I'll start whatever it is the day before it's due instead of using all that time to prep! Clearly I'll be a little more organised for the bubs, but we wouldn't even have a pram yet if someone at work hadn't been selling one.

We haven't even settled on which spare room (we have a normal, bedroom-sized room and a box room) will be the nursery. We originally decided on the normal room, but the box room might be better overall. Hmm!!

I have chosen lots of decor I like, mind you! And I have a slightly scary-sized Amazon list of stuff to maybe get or borrow, as a couple of friends have said they have bits we can use rather than buy.

FriendlyGhost · 12/09/2016 14:01

I haven't bought anything either! I feel like I need to find out the sex first because then I'll know whether I need to redecorate the nursery or not. I will also need some more clothes if it's a boy this time. Other than that that I just need a new mattress for the Moses basket, an extra seat for the buggy and a co-sleeping crib. Oh and new furniture for dd so she can move into a bigger room. Actually that's quite a lot now I write it down!

SausageDogGeorge · 12/09/2016 14:18

I start getting a bit panicky when I write it all down!! There is SO much to get! Shock We're not going to find out the sex so all the clothes will be neutral and I've seen a gorgeous snow suit from Gap that is white with tiny silver stars that will be perfect for boy or girl!

I'm going to divide our list into:
(1) Hospital / Birth
(2) Nursery/Bedding (even though we haven't got a nursery yet!)
(3) Clothing
(4) Travel
(5) All the other stuff (like nappies/baby bath/breast pads) Hmm

Kellz92 · 12/09/2016 14:38

Lol sausage we went shopping with my parents after my gender scan to put deposit diwn and my dad just bought it, i have that, my perfect prep machine, electric sterilier and bottles, one pack of vests, one outfit, 8 packs of wipes and 5 packs of size one nappies, cotton buds, cotton pads, muslin squares and the baby bath i wasnt organised last time and it cost me a fortune in the end lol.

Im lucky i have a few things left from DD, a swing/bouncer seat, cot, changing station, play mat. but i want a next to me crib for my room until shes in with DD, as my room is too small for the cot as well

London you need a lot for a baby! and its safe to have everything judt incase as somethings i didnt use with DD but i could need it this time!

Kiki i didnt pack my hospital bag until the day before last time, i dont intend to repeat that!!! So stressful. I dont have an option if room, she will be with my daughter, but i need to decorate the room, and hubby wants to do the kitchen ahhh!!

Friendly I sat and started a list of what i need and despite having the big things i still have a huge list!! And thats with having a girl again lol

xxx

Workinzzz · 12/09/2016 14:44

Does anybody have any tips on how to stop people touching my tummy - especially my MIL? She's a space invader at the best of times but this really annoys me! My bump is only small, she has to touch it every time I see her boak

kikisdelivery · 12/09/2016 14:51

Work I hate it!! I am really not a touchy person at all, non-pregnant as well - I only like touches from the OH in terms of hugs/cuddles/kisses etc - I'm just not one of those women who absolutely must hug and touch my female friends if we meet up, and I never have been - I think it comes from being a massive tomboy for years! Grin.

Like you, one of my friends will touch/rub my stomach (tiny bump!) when we meet, as do the MIL and SIL - all uninvited! I know myself deep down that they mean well and are excited, but like I said, I don't really even like hugs etc in general! I mean, not in a weird anti-social way, it's just not my thing! So I am afraid I don't have any helpful advice to get it to stop - I've just been cringing inside but letting them do it - but I also find it really irritating and kind of strange and think "NOOOOOOOO!!!" when they dive in for a feel!

kikisdelivery · 12/09/2016 14:53

sausage I love your idea of splitting the lists into venues/events, that's a great plan that I might copy!! It breaks it down into manageable sizes for my brain to deal with, instead of looking at what feel like hundreds of different item headings online and panicking inside!

Kellz92 · 12/09/2016 14:54

work tell her to f**k off lol! My nanny was bad last time but shes started already but shes ill so i leave her be! Mums friend did it in the middle of tesco on sat!!

xx

LondonGirl83 · 12/09/2016 15:01

Don’t forget a feeding category sausage… I’m planning to breast feed but I also plan to express milk so my DH can help with the feedings. Also, I’ll ween a good amount of time before heading back to work as my friend really struggled with that. For me that means I need to also look at nursing bras, nursing tops/ dresses, breast pumps, bottles, sterilizers, bibs…

work can your DH tell her? When friends have found it awkward to say something getting someone else to mention that you don't like something can be a good work around. I don't mind it if its close friends and family. I didn't even notice one of my best friends doing it at dinner (my DH mentioned it) but couldn't tolerate it from strangers / acquaintances.
