Rhubarb, that looks amazing! I'd like to learn. Must feel nice to be making something for your baby.

Helbelle75 · 14/09/2016 11:20

Morning everyone!
Loving the blanket MrsRhubarb. I usually make quilts for my friend's babies, but that crocheting looks lovely.
Having a bit of a panicky day today - no reason other than this was about the time my first pregnancy went wrong and baby bean's heart beat stopped, although I didn't know it until a week later. Definitely a pant watch type of day.

LuchiMangsho · 14/09/2016 11:45

Great news on all the scans.

Yes, I'm another one with a commute and it can get ridiculous. I felt very faint and sick in the heat yesterday and had to sit down by the side of the road, and then use Uber to get DS home from school. I am also exceptionally tired but work starts in full swing next week and I cannot say I am looking forward to it. I had a bunch of meetings on Monday and Tuesday and was exhausted on the train ride home.

I have a 10w scan tomorrow where I hope to get some more clarity on the second foetus situation and also on the cyst. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but you know how pessimistic I am.

Also, my hospital appointment has come through. I'll be past 11 weeks when I have my booking in appointment. My scan is scheduled for 5th October. I'll be 12+4/5 by then I think.

Number4OnTheWay · 14/09/2016 11:50

Bubbins, I don't do a commute however my dd2 has SN, its not visible and most people wouldn't even know! Last year she went to a SEN nursery and really thrived there, however for the first 2 months I felt awful. The waiting list was huge and she had been bumped up. Other children had visibly worse needs than she did, and could have done with that place too. However i was told many times by her keyworker that she was just as worthy, she needed the place just as much. Just because you couldn't see the need didn't mean that she didn't need it.
The same applies to you! Just because you can't tell that your pregnant doesn't make your needs any less than other people's. Its tough standing up for that long, so thanks the space and don't feel sheepish or embarrassed. Own the space and no one will tell you you can't have it xx

Daisy111 · 14/09/2016 12:28

I don't commute, but my job requires me to be out visiting people's houses all morning (then I work from home in the afternoon). My problem is always being desperate for a wee! I hate asking people if I can use their loo, and in many of the places I go to, you really wouldn't want to use the loo anyway! I'm going to give myself a UTI if I'm not careful...

choccybiscuit · 14/09/2016 14:51

Is anyone still having spotting and/ or cramps? My spotting has returned once again and also cramps. Will the worry ever end! Sad

JennyOfOldstones · 14/09/2016 15:49

Has anyone had to change a 12 week scan? I have stupidly agreed to go to a meeting in London when I am bang on 12 weeks, law of sod it will come through for that day.

Theknittinggorilla · 14/09/2016 16:13

choccy I've had a lot of cramping last few days, though no spotting. I had my booking in today and mentioned to midwife but she didn't seem concerned as no bleeding. I'm worried as I don't remember cramps at this stage with the other two.
If you have cramps and spotting can you try epu? If i have any bleeding I'm going straight in.

Theknittinggorilla · 14/09/2016 16:14

jenny I had to change one last time, called them and they rearranged on the phone (for earlier Grin)

choccybiscuit · 14/09/2016 16:41

theknittinggorillaI've been for an early scan already at epu, they were really good but she didn't seem concerned with spotting and bleeding either. Said to call if it's red and heavier. Mine is just like pink discharge but lots of it. I had it for the first three weeks of pregnancy and then died off. I hope it goes again. I do have my booking in appointment on Friday so I'll mention it then.
jenny fingers crossed it won't be for exactly 12 weeks, mine have never been bang on 12 weeks.

choccybiscuit · 14/09/2016 16:43

Oh another question, has everyone or is everyone taking their partners to booking in appointments? Mine has decided not to come. It's busy at his work but I can't help feeling he's not as excited about this baby as our first child together.

finova · 14/09/2016 16:44

I had cramps last night but had had a really hot curry so poss that. Have gone now. I'm 10 weeks and 10 days till my scan.

Spingroll16 · 14/09/2016 16:55

May I join please?

due early April (will know more at 2nd scan in two weeks!)

Currently 11 weeks pregnant, and my first baby :)

Had a scan yesterday, at my booking in apt, the midwife thought I was about 13 weeks yesterday but the lady who did my scan said I was measuring at 11+6

MrsRhubarb · 14/09/2016 17:31

Thank you Daisy, I find crochet quite theraputic and addictive Luckily I'm quicker than I was for the last baby blanket, I don't think this one will take me the full 9 months to make though there was something very nice about making something all the way through.

I really hope you feel better when today is over Helbelle. I made a very bad quilt for DD, I think crochet is definitely where my strength lies.

Good luck for your scan Luchi

Welcome Springroll

No advice I'm afraid Choccy, and definitely mention it on Friday. Hopefully your midwife will be able to give you some reassurance.

I didn't take DH to my booking in appointment last time, as he was worknig and it was pre-scan so he hadn't told his work yet. I'm not bothering this time either, but that's because if he comes so will DD! I know I'll probably have to take her along to some appointments, but if I can avoid the longest one then I will.

Going to have dinner with my DF and DSM. Not looking forward to the inevitable vomit that will follow. Blergh.

Celticlassie · 14/09/2016 17:57

My midwife suggested that partners shouldn't be at the booking in app in case there's anything the mother wants to disclose privately. I have nothing I want to disclose privately, so would rather he was there as he knows his own family history much better than I do! I want him as involved as possible, especially as I have a tendency to drift off and miss important details when people are talking to me...
Will find out tomorrow, I suppose, assuming scan beforehand (am 9+2 but had some bleeding earlier) goes ok.

jpeg28 · 14/09/2016 18:15

Welcome to everyone whose new!

Rhubard that's such a beautiful blanket!!

choccy my MW does two booking appointments and I'm not taking my OH... He's a teacher too so missing lessons is not ideal. He is coming to the scan though.
I'm sure the spotting is fine... I know is worrying, my spotting has returned but is brown (tmi sorry!) the MW wasn't bothered by mine.

Good luck everyone with scans and appointments.

LuchiMangsho · 14/09/2016 18:19

Having done a couple of booking in appointments, the general advice is not to take the husband. It is also deeply boring and dull. However do find out your partner's medical history- if anyone in the family has a history of hypertension, diabetes etc. It has a bearing on whether they do the GTT I think?

choccybiscuit · 14/09/2016 18:54

Good advice ladies, thanks. He's definitely coming to the scans though.
jpeg and celtic I hope your spotting stops soon. It's so annoying to not know why it's happening.
Wishing everyone well for their scans Smile

naranciata · 14/09/2016 20:20

I found something healthy that I fancied eating and didn't make me throw up! This is worth celebrating!

I made a huge tomato and mozzarella salad with basil and croutons and tangy vinaigrette. Was cheesy and tangy and slightly carry but overall pretty healthy. Washed down with a huge glass of cold sparkling water.

I haven't properly fancied anything for so long and when I have, it's made me hurl so this is a milestone!

naranciata · 14/09/2016 20:43

*carby not carry!

SussexTeacher · 14/09/2016 21:36

I didn't take my husband to the booking appointment. He was away with work anyway but my midwife said there was no need. She was right. It's pretty boring! Just make sure you know about medical history.

My DH is adopted so has no idea. So it was easy for me.

Omg I would love to be able to crochet or knit. I'm so talentless! How long did it take you to learn Rhubarb?

ChatEnOeuf · 14/09/2016 21:59

Beautiful blanket, Rhubarb!

No booking appt yet, but DH won't be coming as his work is crazy busy - I know his medical and family history as well as he does now. He will come to 12- and 20-week scans, though. On that note, 9+5 today, still alive and starting to get legs :)

A quick AIBU if you will indulge me. I had my GP appt yesterday to 'formalise' the pregnancy and get the MW referral done. Ridiculous system, but I played by the rules and went along. Very junior GP asks about my obstetric history, I list them all. He commends me on "remembering the exact date of [my] stillbirth". Well, obviously, but apparently he didn't see it 'like that'. I want to call his supervisor and suggest she does a little bit of work with him to help him understand the massive impact a SB has on someone, and how difficult pregnancy after loss is. DH thinks I'm over-reacting...

Hope the spotting settles down for those still worrying, I remember the anxiety it causes - no fun at all.

Hope the lovely scan news continues tomorrow :)

MrsRhubarb · 14/09/2016 22:12

Naranciata I'm envious, sickness is just so bad here. I've tried to eat things that I've fancied, and it has ended up the same as anything else. I think I could cope if it wasn't for the relentless nausea that is acompanying it.

Thanks for all the blanket compliments! I started crocheting when I found out I was pregnant with DD as it was something I'd always wanted to do but never got round to. I made her a blanket with loads of different coloured squares, same pattern over and over. It was really portable so I took a ball and a hook everywhere with me, and as I was repeating so much I soon got the hang of it. I joined it together just as I started maternity leave, so it was a lovely thing to do throughout.

Chat that is so insensitive. I think you should say something, it doesn't have to be a formal complaint but more like feedback. That's the sort of comment you'd expect as a response to remembering when you had your tonsils out, not to the birth of your child.

Lots of sympathy from family tonight after I threw up after tea. I'd had a pathetically small amount anyway. Now my stomach is empty but still feel like I'm going to hurl.

MyGreenSofa · 14/09/2016 22:26

Chat - I agree with Mrs, absolutely the right thing to give some feedback and that's being very kind of you, he absolutely should not be saying such things.

Hoping everyone's nausea subsides soon! Mine likes to hang around for most of the day everyday but I do find it a bit comforting to take as a good sign!

Bubbinsmakesthree · 14/09/2016 23:05

On gosh that is appallingly insensitive Chat I am upset on your behalf. Yes, it was probably an unthinking comment but reveals a profound lack of insight into the emotional impact of a losing a child at birth. Feedback completely warranted!
