Starting a fresh new thread for us!

I think Fedup asked about Elderberries and if anyone had heard from her... I haven't seen her name pop up in a while, but I'm not on the FB group either. I've been wondering the same about almondbutter, haven't seen her on here for a while now and know she was really suffering with sickness.

Oh happy birthday for the weekend Cake

I'm officially now 30!

Feeling a tad emotional today, have cried twice already and it's not even midday. These hormones are really starting to annoy me. Pre-pregnancy I was never one to even suffer with period symptoms never mind PMS/PMT so this is all new to me.

Feel so out of control of my usually very rational brain.

tiredmumrighthere · 16/09/2016 13:34

Afternoon all Smile

Feeling much better today now the hot weathers gone!
Although at night I've noticed my whole body swells up Confused it might just of been the heat so I'll see how it is over the next couple of days.

I'm nesting big time today, sorted through all the baby stuff and wrote down all the things we still need to get...love a list!
Also got my hospital bag out and have put it on the bedroom floor so I can start adding things to it Smile

31+4 today..time is ticking....

needanewjob · 17/09/2016 08:05

Definitely take some nice treats in your bag for afterwards! The tea and toast they offer feels like heaven afterwards but an hour later I was hungry again and it was too late to get anything from the shop (however I am a piggy so this may just be my greed).

Oh and a sports cap water bottle to drink from during! You get very thirsty and entinox really dries your throat out.

helenatroy · 17/09/2016 09:32

Someone was talking about an app what you use with iPhone or iPad as a baby watching/listening monitor. Do you any of you recall what it was?

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 17/09/2016 09:37

It was this helena Smile

FuzzyOwl · 17/09/2016 12:18

Happy birthday Cake and Fedup. Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

I had a massage earlier in the week and still feel quite bruised and battered but, have been able to sleep since which is amazing. I would definitely recommend one and plan to go back next week for another one.

helenatroy · 17/09/2016 12:46

Thank you muffy.

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 18/09/2016 12:00

You're welcome! And I hope you had lovely birthdays cake and fedup Smile

I'm meant to be going to a hypnobirthing taster class this afternoon but feel like absolute shit today. I can't work out whether I should drag myself up to go, as it's the only taster session running before you have to pay for the £250 course, or just forget about the whole thing! I really wanted to give hypnobirthing a try but don't want to part with £250 if it won't be worth it. Ah, what a conundrum. Confused

Tilly28 · 18/09/2016 14:39

I'd say go to the taster! In our area they have started offering hypnobirthing for free recently and Iv done the course this time! (Didn't with dd1 as it was expensive and I was sceptical) Having been through labour once I am really glad Iv done the course this time :-)

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 19/09/2016 06:36

I went in the end and it was well worth it. Although I think it worked better on DP than it did on me - he fell asleep while the midwife was reading the script! It took everything in me not to burst out laughing while I was anticipating the huge snore that never arrived.

I don't think I'll be able to do the course though Sad I would really love to but at 4 hours ago on weekday evenings finding childcare for DD will be near impossible, and it clashes with her activities on weekends. I'm going to see what we can work out, but it'll be a real shame if we can't do it.

smellsofelderberries · 19/09/2016 06:41

Ohh that's interesting Tilly, I won't be doing a course (probably a bit late anyway) but have been meaning to see if my local library has any books on it. I quite like the idea , and think it would suit me as I'm a real intovert and struggle with external input when I'm really stressed/in pain. I tend to get tunnel vision and zone out, which, isn't hypnobirthing about kind of finding your zone and your breathing and stuff? Positive mantras and visualisation? Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?

Had a lovely weekend here but also had a panic attack whilst on the ferry randomly on Saturday Sad kept thinking about her dying and all of a sudden couldn't breathe properly. Was pretty embarrassing but husband was great and talked me through it. I seem to have this every few days now where I get really upset and I'm terrified that something is going to happen to her. Looking forward to seeing my prenatal counsellor on Friday before my next midwife appointment.

madeinmorningside · 19/09/2016 10:51

Im reading mindful hypnobirthing at the moment which has some exercises to practise and some relaxation tracks to down load. My yoga teacher is also very keen on breathing and visualisation so I'm hoping that will help.

Still a bit sceptical but I'm willing to give anything a try. Speaking of which anyone drinking raspberry leaf tea?

Spottyladybird · 19/09/2016 12:21

I've got the raspberry leaf capsules to take but I'm going to check with my mw first next time I see her.

RuskBaby · 19/09/2016 14:47

Raspberry leaf purchased and counting down to starting them - I'm going to start at 36 weeks to give them a chance to work. Apparently you can start between 34-37 weeks but don't want to bring labour too early and 37 seems too late to have any great effect.
We went mad shopping on Saturday, furniture and cot are now ordered and lots of other bits we brought home. Looking forward to meeting little one now when the time arrives.

madeinmorningside · 19/09/2016 14:52

Oh my pregnancy yoga/ nct teacher said any time from 30 weeks ago I've been having a cup of tea a day for the last week. I'm 32 weeks tomorrow. Hopefully it won't make him come early.

Our cot arrived today and I spent the weekend making curtains. Excited to see it all come together.

bobcat85 · 19/09/2016 16:48

There's so much contradictory information regarding raspberry leaf tea online. Some people say you shouldn't start taking it until 37 weeks and others say it's fine to take in the second trimester. So confusing.

My plan is to start it at 37 weeks and also do an antenatal reflexology at 37 weeks. I've also purchased a birthing ball so will start using that at some point. Really don't want to be induced so am willing to try everything from 37 weeks.

FuzzyOwl · 19/09/2016 17:21

We were talking about raspberry leaf at my NCT course and apparently it speeds up the second stage of labour and that is why you start at 37 weeks but looking online some women seem to take it to make them go into labour earlier, so I guess they must be the ones who start taking it earlier. You can get capsules if you don't like the tea.

RuskBaby · 19/09/2016 17:30

The 37 week marker is because that's when baby is deemed term so it's a safety barrier in case it really does work well.
With the reflexology do you need to have a specific option to induce labour or is it just a side benefit so to speak? Avoiding induction is definitely key for me.

bobcat85 · 19/09/2016 18:15

I get the whole 37 week thing it's just the fact information is so conflicting dependent on who you talk to.

It's a specific antenatal reflexology session that you have to go for. I Googled it and there were quite a few in my area. It may not do anything but it's worth a try.

RuskBaby · 19/09/2016 18:18

I think from my point of view, the medical trained are more conservative whereas the yoga and hypnobirth people are try anything. Cool, will have a look for the reflexology.

tiredmumrighthere · 19/09/2016 18:26

Hi everyone, 32 weeks today! Anyone else feel like time is just flying by? I must get my arse in first gear Confused

So had my mw appointment today everything's all good, but I've been informed that the bloods that were taken at 28 weeks were un-usable because the silly mw who took them didn't label them Hmm
God only knows why it's taken them 4 weeks to tell me this! So gotta go through the whole ordeal of going to the hospital tomorrow to face the horrendous parking and finding change for the metre Confused

RuskBaby · 19/09/2016 19:04

Time definitely is flying tired 31+1 now and seems like on one hand we have been pregnant for a long time but also like it's only just happened. I'm so excited to meet baby now, definitely turned a corner on the emotional side of things and feel connected to baby and ready now, physically not so much but we will get there.

Super annoying on the blood front, waiting 4 weeks to let you know is insane. Hopefully they get it right this time and the results are all good for you.

bobcat85 · 19/09/2016 19:50

32 weeks tomorrow and it feels weird that in about 8 weeks we'll have a baby in the house. We've pretty much finished the nursery but still feel completely unprepared.

Fedupithink · 19/09/2016 21:53

I'm 32+2 today and jealous of everyone's progress, I've had a few days off work and achieved nothing baby related! I really must get a move on, just so preoccupied with work at the minute.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 20/09/2016 08:28

Hi all. Not checked in for a while (again). Been having a tough time mentally the last week as my neurosurgeon has decided I need to give birth at his hospital, which is a minimum 1.25 hours away with no traffic and at least double that in rush hour. He says I need to be closely monitored but I'm now worried that I'll be in the car with no monitoring while things are quite intense (and dh is terrified!). Hoping my midwife has a magic solution for me!

I'm still far from ready, the house is a state and no children will have anywhere to sleep at this rate. But I have washed and sorted all the baby clothes for newbie and updated DD's wardrobe with the next size up so we're getting there I think! Want work to hurry up and finish asap. They finally found a maternity cover yesterday but he won't be starting until I'm 35 weeks so there go my plans of skulking off earlier as I'll need to hand over to him Sad

Sorry for the self indulgent post. Hope everyone is ok!
