Starting a fresh new thread for us!

I think Fedup asked about Elderberries and if anyone had heard from her... I haven't seen her name pop up in a while, but I'm not on the FB group either. I've been wondering the same about almondbutter, haven't seen her on here for a while now and know she was really suffering with sickness.

I thought baby was going to burst out of my belly button last night- so much stretching.

Last time I over packed but this was useful:

  • labour bag- things I thought I'd need during labour and immediately after including a couple of nappies for baby and a set of clothes for baby. Maternity pads and spare knickers for me. This time I'll also pack body wash for me as I looked like I'd been in a war zone!
  • overnight bag- changes of clothes, bits for baby, toiletries etc. DH kept this in the car and grabbed it when I moved to the ward.

It was useful not to have too much stuff to lug about as we had to move rooms a few times during labour.

tiredmumrighthere · 13/09/2016 21:28

Fed up I used to freak out too when I couldn't feel her but she's making up for it now she's a fidget bum!

Anyone else got burning feet? Mine aren't hot to touch but they feel like there on fire Sad sorry for all the moaning tonight but I'm so fed up and had enough already Confused

Kitten3 · 14/09/2016 07:04

I've had the burning feet thing for over two months now! It's awful. I find bathing in cold water or draping a flannel over them helpful.
But really what I do because I'm too lazy to sit down with either is stand on the marble hearth in my back room. Pressing my feet against the cold stone is luxury....

Fedupithink · 14/09/2016 07:22

Thanks Tired I hope baby settles down for you or at least changes position!

I've got my 31 week midwife appt this morning so hoping to have a proper chat about what my odd blood results mean as nobody seems concerned or able to tell me. Looking forward to hearing the heartbeat again.

Has anyone been getting white finger? I've had it once or twice but yesterday it was coupled with a bit of swelling and painful knuckles. After a bit of googling it looks like it could be carpel tunnel which can linger until 3 months post birth - argh!

needahugbug · 14/09/2016 09:08

Fedup I've had carpel tunnel for the last week or so. Some days are worse then others but it quite often wakes me up at night :( my knuckles feel like I'm an 80 year old woman they are so sore :( oh the joys. Hope yours feels better soo.ln x

Fedupithink · 14/09/2016 12:18

Well my appointment went really well, I'm measuring bang on and she's happy with my bloods and blood pressure etc. She said the spotting last week isn't anything to worry about neither is the swelling but I deffo have carpel tunnel.

She said it will just get worse until delivery Need joy! Never mind, very small in the scheme of things which could be an issue.

Such a relief. Hope everyone is having a good day and able to stay out of the heat.

smellsofelderberries · 14/09/2016 13:16

Hello all! Sorry I disappeared for a while. All settled in here in Aus, and aside from a few hormonal freak outs (WTF HAVE WE DONE?!) things are going well. Still waiting to have internet installed at home so trying not to chew through the mobile data until that happens (Friday, apparently!).

We have our first birth class (essentially NCT) tomorrow which I was initially freaked out about but am interested to see what it's like. Little one is still flipping around in there and is currently breech/transverse, so I'm getting a lot of very low down kicks (ouch!). New hospital is amazing and I'm already starting to get impatient for her to be here safely (though not until our container arrives in 3 weeks!)

Looking forward to catching up on how everyone here is getting on.

Spottyladybird · 14/09/2016 13:39

So iron levels are still really low (8.4) and I'm off work, feeling so pants and have 3 weeks left. Not sure if I'll be back atm.

Just spoke with my mw about iron levels, she's brilliant and rang the antenatal clinic who want me in for an iron transfusion. Shock feeling terrified if I'm honest.

ImYourMama · 14/09/2016 13:43

Hi - can I join please?

Official due date is 17/12 but told she'll be delivered by 37 weeks which is end of Nov. Team pink, and very excited - would love some support Smile

helenatroy · 14/09/2016 13:46

Mama I'm having my dd relieved at 37.5 weeks

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 14/09/2016 19:05

Hello Mama and welcome to the thread.

Sorry you're not well spotty, that sounds rubbish Sad Hopefully the iron transfusion will be painless (literally and metaphorically!) and it makes you feel better.

I'm feel super tired and hormonal today. I think the heat and the fact that I'm currently living out of boxes and in the living room is getting to me! We've been redecorating our bedroom and have gotten rid of all the furniture for new, space-saving furniture to arrive, but DP has been doing a lot of procrastinating which means we've had to delay the furniture delivery. I just want my bed and my clothes back! The lack of sleep really isn't helping.

Gahh, why can't I be one of those upbeat, positive pregnant women I keep seeing around smiling all the time Grin

tapismagique · 15/09/2016 06:00

Yeah, those cheerful pregnant women are a mystery to me! At least 3 colleagues have told me 'I absolutely loved being pregnant' & told me about how healthy & energised they felt, how positive etc etc. I mean, great for them but no so great for me to hear when I'm exhausted, iron deficient, & sleeping so badly I can barely work during the day! Looking forward to meeting this baby (not long now!)

Thanks everyone for your hospital bag packing tips - really useful. I'm going to do it this weekend. Did you take any food? For some reason the thought of buying nappies is slightly freaking me out, how weird is that?!

Fedupithink · 15/09/2016 06:38

Hello Mama I'm team link too, due on the 12th.

Sorry to hear you are still feeling so rubbish Spotty but hopefully the transfusion will help.

Welcome back Smells! So pleased you are settling into your new life in Oz.

Midwife said yesterday that baby is head down and low so unlikely to move now before birth. These lovely little milestones do make me happy in a weird sort of way!

It's my birthday this weekend so I'm off work now for a few days. Yay!

CakeAndChocolate · 15/09/2016 10:15

Ooo Fedup it's my birthday this weekend too! Hope you have a good one. Good news that baby is in the right position.

Welcome Mama

Energised pregnant women are a mystery to me too, it's all I can manage to get through until dinner time and then I just collapse on the sofa!

smellsofelderberries · 15/09/2016 13:53

Spotty that does sound miserable! Fingers crossed the transfusion does the job and you notice a big improvement soon! Flowers

Muffy, I can sympathise with just wanting things back to normal, do you have a date yet for your new furniture to arrive?

Fedup, very jealous your little one is head down and unlikely to move! Mine was head down at my appointment last Friday but she's started spinning around again a fair bit. Going to buy an exercise ball this weekend and sit souly on that (shouldn't be hard considering we've no other furniture yet!) in the hopes she turns and stays put. Happy birthday!!

Tap, I'm sorry you're struggling. I am fine physically but starting to find these last few weeks very emotionally draining and looking forward to her being here!

Welcome Mama! How come you're delivering right on 37 weeks if you don't mind me asking?

smellsofelderberries · 15/09/2016 13:55

Aso, verdict so far on the birth classes is that they're wonderful. DH is showing an alarming interest in my pelvic floor though Hmm

salemtheteenagecat · 15/09/2016 14:27

Afternoon,

Just dropping in to say don't think it was a uti but that it was actually baby's head on my cervix I honestly can say that was painful!

If anybody needs any little bits aldi has there baby event online which is a week before it hits the stores so either you can prepare for a supermarket sweep or order some bits online Smile.

Xx

bobcat85 · 15/09/2016 15:37

Had my first antenatal class at the hospital yesterday, it was really good.
According to the midwife you shouldn't worry about baby being head down until 36 weeks. At that point you can start to actively try and get them head down (laying on left side, using a birthing ball). Also the midwives have started to get training in reflexology as it's proven to bring on labour. At the moment it's not offered on the NHS but she advised booking an antenatal reflexology class privately anytime from 37 weeks. I've had a look and for one session it's only £35 which isn't too bad.

JadeT2 · 15/09/2016 17:22

Sorry to those who are suffering. I've not been too bad, had my whooping cough jab today at 32+2 so cutting it rather fine. I almost didn't feel it, I was expecting to be a horrible one but so far I've been ok!

I'm also suffering from carpal tunnel. It wakes me up several times a night and I can't go back to sleep until my hands return to a normal size and stop tingling, it's pretty awful.

I finish work on Wednesday at 33 weeks thanks to my accumulated holiday. Can't wait!

mrsdane · 15/09/2016 17:25

Thanks for the reflexology tip bobcat, will have a look into that.

Saw the physio today and she told me I'm not far off crutches with my SPD so am having to meet with Occupational Health to be assessed....can shuffle along at the moment but my god it hurts. Sleeping is so tough too. I keep trying to stay positive but it's so difficult. Positive preggos can bugger off, tbh. Roll on November, colder weather and babies arriving!

tapis I am EXACTLY the same about buying nappies. Somehow, that makes it real, and up until this point, it's all just been pretend. I finally caved and bought some basic babygros from JL last night, plus breast pads and lanolin cream. All for the hospital bag - I second the thanks on contents, it's most helpful.

Happy birthday to those celebrating this weekend.

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 15/09/2016 18:42

Hopefully it'll all be here by this Saturday smells, but if DP doesn't finish the actual decorating before then no doubt he'll want to delay it again!

Thanks for the heads up about Aldi salem, I'll have a look now!

mrsdane hugs for you! I hope you get better soon Flowers

Ionacat · 16/09/2016 07:40

tapismagnique I took a box of cereal bars in my hospital bag last time. DH had one or two to keep him going, (I did send him off to get food for him though.) But one night (was in for a couple of nights, I woke up starving and was very glad I had something and didn't need to disturb the midwives who were busy.) The other ladies on the same ward as me were also bemoaning the food and the size of the portions- we thought we deserved a bacon sandwich at least!!

CocklesandMussels · 16/09/2016 08:10

Ooh spotty poor you, you must be feeling completely washed out with that level. Fingers crossed the iron infusion helps.
elderberries I'm glad you're settled and that NCT is good. I wish I'd booked onto a formal class now just to meet people.
I'm also puzzled about these wonderfully glowing pregnant women. Grrr!
PGP/SPD also ramping up here, I'm struggling to walk. I've rotated to a new workplace which is a slightly easier journey but still have to go on two tubes and it's not easy hobbling through what seems like miles of tunnels! I've been taken off the on-call rota though which is a massive relief. One week to go then I can go on leave and crash. Pedicure is already booked (can't reach own toes).

Spottyladybird · 16/09/2016 09:15

I'm in the hospital just waiting for more blood to be taken, they're checking to see if I'm low on something else which might be affecting the absorption of iron! DD was up at 5.15 this morning- when is bedtime?

mrsdane · 16/09/2016 10:51

Thanks Muffy. With you on the pedicures Cockles, and shaving my legs now involves having to sit in the bath rather than stand in the shower. Oh the joys! Hope everyone's having a good Friday.
