Starting a fresh new thread for us!

I think Fedup asked about Elderberries and if anyone had heard from her... I haven't seen her name pop up in a while, but I'm not on the FB group either. I've been wondering the same about almondbutter, haven't seen her on here for a while now and know she was really suffering with sickness.

Cockles that is so cute!

AyeAmarok · 27/10/2016 18:08

Do you know, Cockles, your little photo has just made me think.

When a baby (single, not twin) comes into the world, it "knows" nobody. It sort of knows the mum (well, the mum's insides!) and then it comes into the world and has to make its own relationships with everyone.

But twins, they come into the world with someone they've always known! They have been cuddling each other, holding hands, poking each other, opening their eyes and (sort of) seeing each other for months before. They have a best friend already. Someone whose presence will automatically make them feel more at ease. And I just think that's so lovely Smile

Wish my baby had a friend!

CocklesandMussels · 27/10/2016 18:33

That's a nice thought Aye. They definitely know each other and sleep much better when they are together. If I lie them down they manage to wriggle closer together (don't believe anyone who tells you that newborns can't move).
I can't wait to hear all about all your babies when they arrive! X

tiredmumrighthere · 27/10/2016 20:54

Aww cockles-my heart just melted Smile too cute x

Fedupithink · 27/10/2016 22:13

Ahh Cockles that is so lovely, and a really nice hour Aye

Happy birthday Spotty I hope you had a nice day in the end?

Thinking of you Gem hoping you are cuddling your lovely baby right now.

Anyone else had a total hormonal meltdown? I've lost it a bit today, cried hundreds of times, cannot get my head straight. Had a blazing row with DH which resulted in yet more tears. I feel ridiculous, pathetic, stressed and totally out of control.

EllieM22 · 27/10/2016 23:34

I had one too fedup

I'm going crazy being home alone on maternity leave and am only 37+3. Dh has to bring work home every night- atleast he brings it and doesn't stay late at work but im so bored and at a loss for what to do which is making me snappier and more impatient!

Fedupithink · 28/10/2016 01:11

I think that's the same for me too Ellie I'm so used to talking to adults all day every day at work that I find when I see my DH I just can't stop talking at him.

I'm also very used to being "in charge" and making decisions but deciding which tv channel to catch and what to have for lunch aren't really cutting it for me. I'm trying to rest and do have jobs to do/finish off before the baby comes but I have very little motivation for any of them and I'm definitely anxious about the birth.

I just told my dh I feel like I've lost my mojo Sad

needanewjob · 28/10/2016 07:55

Well that was an interesting few hours... my waters broke about 645 last night with a big gush! Had to go in to hospital to get checked and then was home again by 830! Since then I've had a show and some diarrhoea (sorry) and absolutely nothing else!!! I'm to ring them at teatime if still no sign so they can book me in for an induction. Really hoping baby starts to make a move in the next few hours!!!

tiredmumrighthere · 28/10/2016 08:02

Ahhh need-fingers crossed it all happens soon Smile how far along are you?

needanewjob · 28/10/2016 08:15

I'm due on Sunday so got really excited yesterday thinking 'this is it' am now sat in bed with a cuppa having sent dh off to work and ds off to school with his grandparents... it's a waiting game now

mrsdane · 28/10/2016 09:06

Fingers crossed need, I really hope things get going for you ASAP.

Ellie, Fedup, I am in exactly the same position as you, but I can't go out much as walking hurts. I am going insane. Thankfully a friend is taking me out today (like a care in the community visit!) so i'll get a change of scenery. Roll on babies arriving.

Spottyladybird · 28/10/2016 09:10

Fingers crossed for you need that's what happened with me last time, keep upright if you can- bounce or rotate and see if you can get your contractions going. By the time I went in again I was 10cm!

Those of you having your firsts, I know it's hard but enjoy being bored- watch lots, do all your washing, eat cake with two hands, go to the cinema, have long phone conversations, cook, read a whole book. All these things will stop really soon!

Spottyladybird · 28/10/2016 09:13

Sorry- didn't mean to be patronising, just wish I'd done those things before DD arrived!

tiredmumrighthere · 28/10/2016 09:24

I agree spotty-be a long time before you get a chance to do all those things again so enjoy I say lol x

needanewjob · 28/10/2016 09:43

Thanks spotty. I'm all showered and have had a quick tidy just to see if I can get things moving... if no sign soon I'm going to take myself off for a walk

RuskBaby · 28/10/2016 09:47

Good luck need hope things get moving quickly.

I have failed to plan properly for maternity leave in that I am coming to the end of my 4th week and have had just 1 day so far to chill out. I'm slowly getting better at saying I'm busy! Wish I had realised before how tired I would start to get as night time sleeping gets harder.

tapismagique · 28/10/2016 20:47

spotty I am looking forward to doing all those things when my mat leave starts next Friday - esp reading novels WHILE eating cake! The only other thing I'm planning is to get a haircut. And finish knitting this bloody blanket...

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 28/10/2016 21:01

Hope everything is okay need!

I agree spotty. At first I was bored but I've been trying to get everything done now and feel much better for it. Although DD is unwell at the moment so getting out and about isn't that easy. I'm also feeling really mean as I'm on immunosuppressants and really don't want to catch her bug when I'm going to be giving birth soon, so I'm trying not to cuddle too much! I feel awful as I know she's going to be feeling a bit put out once baby arrives as it is.

I've been having contractions since yesterday morning, regular and getting stronger for about 3-4 hours and then just disappearing completely! I went to the hospital last night because I didn't know what was going on and the midwife said it doesn't sound as if it's labour and sent me home. She didn't check to see if I was dilated or not, I don't know if that's normal? Since then I've passed the mucus plug and the contractions are continuing to get stronger but don't seem to be as regular. No waters yet though. I don't know what to do! You'd think I'd know, since this is my second, but it's been almost 8 years since my first and last time was really "to the book".

Fedupithink · 29/10/2016 05:10

Ooh Need that is so exciting! I hope you are now cuddling your lovely baby?

Sounds promising Muffy I think I've had Braxton hicks once or twice but nothing else so far. 38 weeks today.

Thanks for the advice Spotty & Tired I deffo need to fire through my jobs list once and for all and then spend some time embracing my freedom. Feeling much more motivated now!

Have a lovely pregnancy pamper package at a local spa to book (was a birthday pressie) plus cinema and restaurant vouchers to use. I have also placed my final online order for the very last of the baby bits which should arrive next week. Feeling slightly more preparerd despite this rollercoaster week.

Gembear25 · 29/10/2016 06:56

I am pleased to report that Jasper arrived safely by elcs on Thursday 27th October. CS went well and we came home yesterday. I'm very tender and feeding is a bit hit and miss but we're not doing bad at all. Totally in love, he is beautiful Smile

Spottyladybird · 29/10/2016 07:22

Congratulations gem he's very gorgeous. Happy to have him as a birthday twin.

In regards to feeding, keep going but also get some real life advice if you need it- it's new for you both. Make sure you rest lots, your iron levels are good and your milk should come in soon.

tiredmumrighthere · 29/10/2016 08:34

Oh gem he's gorgeous Smile huge congratulations xx

Ionacat · 29/10/2016 08:44

He is gorgeous - congratulations Gem.

My bump is still breech. I'm spending a considerable amount of time on my hands and knees and with my hips higher in an attempt to persuade it to turn. I'll be referred back to the hospital if it is still breech next week. Fingers crossed it works.

tiredmumrighthere · 29/10/2016 09:05

Fingers crossed for you iona, my 3rd child was breech it's a bloody pain trying to get them to turn, I tried everything the doctors tried to turn her too, but she was having none of it, I went into labour that night (probably because of all the pulling and tugging they were doing previous that day) and was 8cm dilated when I went down to theatre for an emergency c-section and I just remember thinking to myself " if I could do this naturally I'd be nearly there!" So frustrating

RuskBaby · 29/10/2016 09:20

Congratulations Gem Jasper is gorgeous, love the name!
