Starting a fresh new thread for us!

I think Fedup asked about Elderberries and if anyone had heard from her... I haven't seen her name pop up in a while, but I'm not on the FB group either. I've been wondering the same about almondbutter, haven't seen her on here for a while now and know she was really suffering with sickness.

I get those pains loads loads Ellie and it is horrible but 1/5 engaged is almost totally there, so doubt you will be waiting the full five weeks. Not sure if the pains can be related though as I was the complete opposite at my last midwife appointment (4/5 palpable) and also having the pains.

I've run out of heartburn medication as well and went to the chemist to pick up my repeat prescription only to find it is closed for the weekend. Really annoyed with myself for not double checking the opening times.

EllieM22 · 08/10/2016 13:07

fuzzyowl i was 4/5 palp too, mw said that meant 1/5 engaged! It's all so confusing.

Glad to know the pains aren't totally weird then, but urghh they suck. Hopefully they mean it is progressing slowly.

That's very annoying, maybe you'll have to just have gaviscon over the weekend?

FuzzyOwl · 08/10/2016 13:17

Ah, no, 5/5 engaged means the baby's head is completely out of your pelvis and 1/5 engaged means that it is almost fully engaged whereas 4/5 payable means that 4/5 of the baby's head is outside of your pelvis. I think it is the stupidist way of saying things as it doesn't follow logic at all.

RuskBaby · 08/10/2016 13:55

I have a seriously hot baby going on, glad I'm not the only one! I feel bad sometimes when I'm trying to cool down but DH now knows to wear more and one of my friends is menopausal so she loves having me over so she isn't the only one boiling.
We went to a first aid course this morning which was fantastic, both of us were really impressed, now to hope we never need to practice.
Have an afternoon ahead supervising DH from the sofa if of course I stay awake!
Also, for those starting maternity leave early, my body is so thankful so I am glad I went early so hopefully you will all feel a bit better when you finish.

Fedupithink · 09/10/2016 05:10

Helen I'm 35+1 now and also getting the odd wave of nausea and my appetite is waining. I seem to be able to eat more in the morning so I'm trying to squeeze in food then in case I forget later.

Had my flu jab yesterday, that's the last of the needles for me. It didn't hurt at the time but I've now got a bruise and a swollen lump which is sore to lie on.

Last NCT later today so I'm of course wide awake at 4am with heartburn and insomnia!

Spottyladybird · 09/10/2016 06:21

Appetite definitely waning here and nauseous too. I'm 35 + 3.

Baby is getting itself into really uncomfortable positions too and the low ache of a head being engaged has started.

tiredmumrighthere · 09/10/2016 09:37

Ahh glad I'm not the only one Confused never had it with previous pregnancies

Right I need people's views/opinions,this Wednesday coming I've got a Justin beiber concert at the 02 to attend ( not for my own personal pleasure lol it's for my eldest daughters bday) me and my best friend got the tickets at the beginning of the year (before I was pregnant) and planned for the 3 of us to go, however..being 35 weeks pregnant, hot, easily out of breath and awful pelvic pain I'm reconsidering going as I just don't think I'll cope! Friend is driving us there so there's no trains ect but I've never been to a concert so not really sure what to expect Confused Dp doesn't want me to go, but I feel awful because DD wants me to go and I feel like I'm being horrible by putting the baby and myself first! My friends looking into getting valet parking for me to make it all a bit easier and I've tried to say I might not be able to go but she doesn't understand the struggle right now (she doesn't have kids or been pregnant) am I out of my depth? I don't know what to do help?!

RuskBaby · 09/10/2016 11:27

tired personally I would go, providing you have seats?! The O2 is purpose built so it has space if that makes sense. There are lots of restaurants available outside the dome and in the walk around bit before you actually show your tickets to go through. They do have queues before show so we tend to go earlier rather than later and string the meal out a bit, any excuse for dessert. Then once you show your tickets, there are food/drink stands and toilets all around as it's a giant O - being Bieber there will be an overflow of girls and whilst they turn the men's to ladies there won't be enough so we have been known to frequent the men's when needed! When leaving, we use 2 options - find the tack list on line, leave before the last song or wait until the encore is over and let everyone leave but does mean you queue out of the car park. If you are in standing then don't go. Sorry that's a lot longer than I thought but hope it helps.

bobcat85 · 09/10/2016 11:46

If it helps TiredMum I'm going to a rock gig next week when I'll be 35 weeks. My plan is to sit when it gets too much and also make sure I drink lots of water.

Maybe see how you feel on the day and decide then. If you're sitting through the whole thing you should be fine. I went to a gig in early pregnancy (15 weeks) and it was the travelling rather than the gig itself which was most tiring.

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 09/10/2016 12:19

TiredMum if they're standing tickets I definitely wouldn't go. I know DD would be disappointed but standing in a concert is hard at the best of times let alone when you're heavily pregnant!

If you have seats though I would go. There are loads of restaurants nearby as well and it might be a nice day out!

tiredmumrighthere · 09/10/2016 13:22

Thanks ladies, yes forgot to say that we have seats! Think I'm gonna chance it, I'm so excited for her as she's waited since January when we gave her the tickets as a surprise birthday gift, I couldn't possibly miss her ecstatic face when she sees him, it is after all a once in a lifetime experience Grin I'll just make sure to wear comfy clothes/shoes and have some snacks and water to hand, and I'll take my hospital notes for "just Incase" Grin

RuskBaby · 09/10/2016 15:59

tired regards clothing, wear layers and not much - it can get warm if there is lots of dancing going on which is likely. They will take any bottle tops off of you at security so carton drinks like juice are best.

Has anyone had people (mainly women) smiling at them? It's a bit unnerving to be honest although lovely but I keep thinking um why are you looking at me and then twig it's because I look really pregnant now. At least that's my reasoning.

helenatroy · 09/10/2016 17:20

Yes to the smiling. I swear I could rob a bank and folks would smile and look on approvingly.

Bollyroo · 10/10/2016 00:18

I really like the smiling but it's from everyone not just women. Makes me feel a tiny bit rock star being starred at. Although I do find it weird when a mum will explain to their kid that the "lady has a baby in her tummy". This has happened on the bus several times and the kid usually keeps asking questions until there's the severely awkward bit of "but how does it get out". I pretend to fall asleep by that stage. It's fairly embarrassing!

Had a really good weekend here. Finished off painting the cradle and it looks awesome! I'm so pleased with it. DH is working from home until D day which is really cool having him around.

This week I will mainly be collecting all those exciting bits and pieces like breast pads and nipple cream. I'm thinking about organising a bit of a baby shower cake and cocktails party. I know this is very un-mn but has anyone else had a party/excuse to eat loads of cake?

Fedupithink · 10/10/2016 04:03

Glad the cradle turned out well Bolly. I had an awful day yesterday, think I've had a reaction to the flu jab as I was really sick and nauseous, couldn't eat anything all day and after a poor nights sleep was unbelievably tired and uncomfortable.

I actually cried when I had to get off the sofa to go to NCT for 5 hours. I'm glad I went but I felt awful all day.

My arm is still really swollen, I've got a huge red lump and a big bruise. Has anyone else reacted to the flu jab?

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 10/10/2016 05:25

I'm sorry fedup. I can't remember if you're on maternity leave yet or not? I hope you are so you can get some rest!
I haven't even booked my flu jab yet - I keep on forgetting nothing to do with be terrified of needles, no no, not at all Is there a pregnancy week we have to have it done by or have I still got a bit of time?

I really can't sleep tonight. (Suspected) SPD is so painful that it's making me want to throw up Envy I don't have another appointment for 2 weeks either so can't even discuss it properly.

Aargh, not long left now ladies!

Bollyroo · 10/10/2016 05:55

Oh Muffy, that sounds shit. Would it be worth running a hot bath? Have you got an exercise ball? Hope you get back to sleep soon.

Fedup, my flu jab was fine. The whooping cough one was much worse.

I'm just watching trashy films, eating caramel popcorn and loving it!

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 10/10/2016 06:06

bolly I think I'll do both of those when daylight hits. I don't want to wake anyone with the bath running or the noisy ball bouncing right now, but I can't wait to actually do them! I am supposed to be getting up for work right now but I've had to call in again. They're probably getting a bit fed up of me now Blush

Gembear25 · 10/10/2016 06:58

Morning

Gembear25 · 10/10/2016 07:01

Oops posted too soon!
36+4 here and got an appointment with the consultant today to discuss elcs and hopefully get a date. Anytime is good for me, I'm so fed up of being uncomfortable. Finished work last week though so other than school run and hospital I will mainly be sitting on the sofa today :-)

CakeAndChocolate · 10/10/2016 07:48

Muffy hope you got back to sleep. You can get the flu jab at any time, but my midwife said not to leave it too late as it can make you feel rubbish for a few days (as testified by fedup) and you really don't want/need that when in labour.

Fedupithink · 10/10/2016 08:40

Yes Muffy they told me anytime - didn't mention the feeling rubbish until after she had done it though!

Mind you after I posted I finally fell asleep and I've just woken up so had maybe 3-4 hours in one block so I feel pretty good!

I'm officially "working from home" at the moment but basically just tying up loose ends and keeping an eye on my emails from bed or the sofa in front of the tv.

bobcat85 · 10/10/2016 08:41

Bollyroo we had a baby gathering yesterday organised by my MIL. It wasn't really a shower as it was for both me and my husband and both men and women were invited. No games just a chance to see a few people before baby is here and eat lots of food.

I've got my flu jab on Saturday which I'm not looking forward to.

That sounds painful Muffy, maybe it would be worth booking a doctors appointment. Or maybe give your midwife a call and she might be able to refer you to the physio department.

Spottyladybird · 10/10/2016 09:10

I'm having a pre baby gathering on Saturday. No gifts allowed but afternoon tea with girlfriends in a nice hotel.

I'm surprised we've got to this point in October with no babies- we're doing well!

Fedupithink · 10/10/2016 10:39

I thought the same thing this morning Spotty it will be interesting to see how many go early/on time/overdue etc and how our births work out in reality compared to all the statistics.
