Starting a fresh new thread for us!

I think Fedup asked about Elderberries and if anyone had heard from her... I haven't seen her name pop up in a while, but I'm not on the FB group either. I've been wondering the same about almondbutter, haven't seen her on here for a while now and know she was really suffering with sickness.

I'm oddly looking forward to the actual birth part for some reason... I didn't much enjoy labour last time because it was wot hours of back to back pain - as back to back and no break in the back pain between contractions, but I found the actual pushing out/birthing part strangely enjoyable! I felt actually in control and in fact really powerful. I'm lucky that part was pretty short, but it's filled me with confidence to do it again (for now!!!).

bobcat85 · 04/10/2016 23:56

I'm actually looking forward to getting labour out of the way as I've hated pregnancy. I'm pretty open minded about it potentially not going to plan which I think has helped.

iloveglutenandairy · 05/10/2016 06:21

Hi all,

Ftm to be here, due 2/11/16!

Been a rollercoaster couple years dealing with anxiety & depression, culminating in a baba due next month.

I'm finally really excited and positive, (being pg has def been good for me) but still nervous how I'm gonna deal with everything once ds arrives.

Bollyroo · 05/10/2016 10:44

Hi ILove! Very exciting!

I've just bought a medela swing pump. What a weird concept, human cow. Hmmm. Might just leave it in the box for a couple of weeks before contemplating having it anywhere near my boobs! Btw, does anyone else have quite sore boobs? They've been leaking the last few weeks but now they have a good 10 minutes a day where I literally have to let them roam free! Even having my bra on makes them hurt. Wahhh! Winge over.

I've started painting the cradle today. It looks so sweet already and I've only done the spindles. Nice to have a project in these last few weeks.

iloveglutenandairy · 05/10/2016 10:47

Hi bolly!

I also got myself one of these - a double one!
Surely, it's worth feeling like a cow if it means DP can do those share of feeds though, hey? Smile

salemtheteenagecat · 05/10/2016 10:57

Fedup - sorry for Kate reply I've just ordered Elle tens machine seems to be the most popular one. I didn't want to spend to much encase I hated it. It gets dispatched today so will let you all know what I think when it comes.

tiredmumrighthere · 05/10/2016 13:02

Hi everyone, hope your all well Smile

I've just got back from having a growth scan/consultation appointment and everything's all good, she's still head down on her side with all her limbs on my right side ( thought she'd flipped) so worried for nothing!
Her estimated weight is 5lb 11oz and there's still just under 6 weeks left to go Smile
My next appointment is on the 2nd so that'll be 12 days before my due date Shock
So excited now x

Fedupithink · 05/10/2016 17:15

Thanks Salem I had my 34 wk midwife appt today and asked her about tens and she said my broth centre hire them out so I'll ask them I think as they are all new and hospital grade whatever that means.

Baby is still head down and is now 2 5ths engaged - Eeek!!! She asked me right after she checked if I'd packed my bag and must have seen my panicked face as she explained it could be weeks yet!

I've done a bit more hospital bag shopping today - big pants (sexy!) and nursing vests and now feel a bit teary that it's all a bit real. Madness!

needanewjob · 05/10/2016 18:59

Have finally built the buggy! Five year old ds is very excited about this and keeps wheeling it round the lounge 😍 Hope he is this excited when there's a baby in it!

I'll be 37 weeks on Sunday and all of a sudden the hips hurt and walking is starting to feel a bit of a pain! Hope baby isn't late

Bollyroo · 06/10/2016 10:35

Had my 34week dr check up today where she said poppet was measuring 30weeks. Yikes. But I was able to have a scan straight away and thankfully everything is absolutely fine. Those fundal measurements are so unreliable. Anyway, it was so amazing having an unexpected scan and getting to see the most chubby little cheeks I've ever seen! Omg! DH nearly cried! Soooo sweet!

In other news, I saw a girl who lives in the flat upstairs who looked a bit preggo so I asked when she's due. Only 3 days after me! Same hospital. How random?!

bobcat85 · 06/10/2016 11:28

Glad all worked out with the scan Bollyroo.

Just got back from my 34 week midwife appointment. Baby is head down and midwife said it's unlikely that he will turn back up again. I had quite a bit of pain on Monday so I think that's when he probably went head down. He's got his back on the right side and limbs on the left side. Measurements spot on as well although I don't think that means too much as they can be unreliable.

Getting a cold and suffering with carpol tunnel, looking forward to baby coming so pregnancy is over.

Spottyladybird · 06/10/2016 16:53

Hello maternity leave!! So pleased to finally have stopped work, now to tackle the job list!

Fedupithink · 07/10/2016 09:05

Ahh well done Spotty! You made it!

My tying up of loose ends is taking a lot longer than expected but as its all from home I've taken to doing some work, watching a bit of tv/having a nap/running and errand the a bit more work so 100 times less intense.

I had my risk assessment yesterday for the birth centre and all went well although I've put on 15kg since booking in which shocked me. She said it's fine but I'm not very happy especially as I lost in the first trimester. Hoping it's mostly water retention!

MissObsessed · 07/10/2016 13:12

Hi all, just after a bit of advice really (and some perspective!) I have posted this in Pregnancy too but need to make a decision today so thought I'd post here too!

I'm currently 35+4 weeks and I'm a teacher. The original plan was for me to work until half term (38 weeks) and start maternity leave on the first day back, making me 39 weeks.

This was all fine until I developed SPD and have been signed off work for the past week (and still have a week to go on my sick note) I now face being forced to start my maternity leave on Monday (36 weeks.)

My SPD has been quite bad, to the point where I have vomited with the pain, but seems much more manageable at home where I can take rests and find more comfortable positions. I can't drive my car at the moment because it is too painful and have been referred for Physio.

My dilemma is - do I attempt to go back to work on Monday and try to see the next 10 working days out (and benefit from 3 weeks extra 'pay') or admit defeat and stay off work (and 'waste' 3 weeks maternity) My DH works and we currently have £1400 savings in the bank for when I'm on maternity leave. I was planning on going back to work around June but if I stay off now I might need to go back in May.

Writing it down like that makes it seem obvious to me but I feel sad about wasting some of my leave, especially when I would only be able to take around 6 months off anyway.

Thank you so much if you've managed to read to the end - didn't expect it to be that long!!

mrsdane · 07/10/2016 14:09

Hi Miss, I sympathise entirely with you. I'm in a very similar position with the pain, and know how endlessly frustrating it can be - I'm 35 weeks today and work in an office. I would say if you can get into physio any earlier, do it. Even if you have to pay for it, it makes such a difference - I am able to move with less pain for a few hours after the sessions, even if I am back to square one the next day. The relief is immense.

I know it's shit, but I'd recommend going off early. As a teacher, you are on your feet for the majority of the day, and you've got to be on the ball all the time - its not like you can sit behind a computer for the majority of the day. Is this not exacerbating the pain? It's also not 'wasting' maternity leave, it's what your body needs - although I appreciate the financial side of it is a huge influence.

I know you've probably had endless tips on it (I know I have) but icing the joints really helps me (bag of sweetcorn, it's so glam), and if the pain is in your symphysis pubis (mine moves depending on what I've done) avoid the pillow between the legs at night, as I find this can make it worse - the pain radiates down my legs if I try to do this. PM me if you want a sympathetic ear!

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 07/10/2016 15:10

Hi Miss, we are in almost the same position! Could you see if you can extend your sick leave and perhaps go back for the last day of half term so that it won't carry over to half term?

Fedupithink · 07/10/2016 15:38

Miss you need to look after yourself, your health comes first. I've found this hard to accept and have effectively had to finish 2 weeks earlier than planned but I'm lucky that it won't effect my time at the other end.

I assume even if you go in on Monday then get signed off again as you'll pass 36 weeks they will put you on enforced maternity anyway?

15 working days at the other end of your maternity really won't make any difference once your baby is here. Put your feet up and enjoy all the preparation.

MissObsessed · 07/10/2016 15:58

Thank you all for your kind messages, kind of confirmed that staying off is the best thing to do. It's difficult because I'm very much a 'keep going unless you're dying' type of person so being off work feels like I've been defeated and I hate not having control over what is happening - I'm sure the baby will put a stop to that!!

mrsdane I have been putting a pillow between my legs to sleep but never made the connection between the pain at night and the pillow! Blush

fedup My DH said the same, we'll either tighten our belts for a month/baby won't know I've got back to work 3 weeks early, puts it into perspective a bit Smile

helenatroy · 07/10/2016 16:50

The babies own our asses these days. Back to all day morning sickness for me and no NO appetite.

RosyP13 · 07/10/2016 17:17

Missobsessed, I totally get your dilemma. I too am desperately trying to hang on so that I don't waste half term on maternity leave. If I had your level of pain I think I would give in though. I'm intending to go back the week before May half term so that I get paid for that week off.

I'm 35 weeks today. I started moxibustion last night to try and turn my breech baby. Also had a couple of acupuncture needles in my legs (I've been having acupuncture throughout pregnancy) which I was told would help loosen the ligaments. Baby hasn't turned yet but my belly has been so much more relaxed and comfortable today.

mrsdane · 07/10/2016 18:05

Miss, I wondered what I was doing wrong with the pillow until I mentioned it to the physio, she suggested to stop doing it and bingo = better sleep. I no longer wake and lie in agony for 3 hours a night. Hope it works for you tonight.

I am ready for this baby!

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 07/10/2016 19:51

Glad you made the decision to put yourself first miss. I've stopped today when I was panning to do the same as you and have half term pre mat leave but I just wasn't doing a good job and I knew it and felt my students deserved more tbh. Was a tough call though!

tiredmumrighthere · 08/10/2016 10:18

Anyone constantly feel hot? Went to my mums yesterday and had to sit next to the window with it wide open while everyone was freezing and begging me to shut it lol in the end I let them have their way and I ended up with a quality street lid fanning myself over and over Shock

I'm sitting here now next to a wide open window and I still feel like I'm melting Confused

AyeAmarok · 08/10/2016 10:56

I definitely feel warmer but not hot and flushed yet! It's the internal hot water bottle.

Anyone else's bump gone numb at the top? It's a strange combination of numb and itchy. Googling tells me the numbness is internal bruising from repeatedly being kicked! Shock

EllieM22 · 08/10/2016 11:52

Sounds like a good plan miss

tiredmum i'm the same! When i walk the dog i sweat even in just a tshirt, have to have the fan on me all night and take cold baths. Doc said its a normal part of being a 'human oven'.

Had the strangest night last night. As i lay in bed my pelvis hurt so much, couldn't get comfy at all. I had sharp pains in my vagina and really strong period cramps and backache. Tried a bath, hot milk, bouncing on the ball, walking, nothing worked. Decided i would see how I felt in the morning. Finally at 6am I got to sleep, woke up this morning and it feels absolutely fine!

Hesitant to go to l&d as went last week for mild period pains and after a very painful exam with a speculum was told my cervix was high hard and closed still and I just had an irritatable uterus and to drink more.

I'm constantly drinking and peeing so part of my really thought last night might be the start of it all, but today feel normal again just shattered! Anyone else had this? As baby was 1/5 engaged last week it could just be him burrowing further down, but why would it only start when i lay down?

It's going to be a long 5 weeks until my DD if this keeps up Confused
