Starting a fresh new thread for us!

I think Fedup asked about Elderberries and if anyone had heard from her... I haven't seen her name pop up in a while, but I'm not on the FB group either. I've been wondering the same about almondbutter, haven't seen her on here for a while now and know she was really suffering with sickness.

Ok, glad it's not just me though! Today I cried after leaving DD at nursery, she's been there for weeks!

salemtheteenagecat · 26/09/2016 12:32

Ahh I'm pleased other people have had emotional breakdowns. I cried all yesterday afternoon...why you ask? Because DP wasn't hugging me enough while he was hugging me...poor guy!

Had a busy weekend without any naps late night then resorted in very poor sleep last night spent the morning napping have the most horrific heartburn as well!

My question is it ok to have slept all morning isn't it?

TryingNotToWaddle34weeks · 26/09/2016 12:51

lol ive been sleeping all the time so i'm inclined to say yes it is ok!

The other day I woke up, took my daughter to school, came home slept all day, picked her up from school and then went to bed when she did at 8.30pm.

helenatroy · 26/09/2016 13:25

Am in bed today. Bugger all wrong with me. Have promised myself this day for weeks. Got up twice to put washing on and cook a bowl of pasta. Am watching Netflix enjoying the baby kicking an moving about and so far I have eaten two lots of Stolen. Bliss.

needanewjob · 26/09/2016 14:47

Helena I like your style! I've had a fry up for lunch and have spent afternoon with feet up catching up on Real Housewives of Cheshire! Off to get little man from school in a bit and it's chucking it down - that's going to ruin my nice chilled out cosy vibe!

bobcat85 · 26/09/2016 14:52

I find it hard to function without daily nap but sleeping at night is starting to become a struggle. Sometimes I wake up and just can't get back to sleep. Looking forward to being able to sleep on my front again once baby is here.

How is everyone feeling about people touching their bump? I hate it but I have no idea how to tell people not to do it.

mrsdane · 26/09/2016 14:55

bob I back away. Or, when asked if someone could see my bump, just said a flat out 'no'. 'Maybe later?' she replied. 'No. Not going to happen,' was my retort.

I think you just need to be firm, even if it gets awkward. Your body, your rules.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 26/09/2016 17:21

I wish I could sleep all day. Stupid work!
I haven't had any unsolicited bump touching yet but anyone who has asked I've said crack on. I don't actually mind it, but I think I'm in the minority in that attitude!

Fedupithink · 26/09/2016 17:38

Spotty I'm with you on the scatterbrain. I spent over an hour yesterday looking for my phone - it was in the car. Went out to check the car but paused the TV as I watching the programme - found the phone then couldn't find the remote! It was in my handbag - where else?!

I've not had any unsolicited bump touching yet, a few friends have asked and I've said yes which is weird for me (I'm not even a hugger!) but I don't mind it too much.

14 working days left.

salemtheteenagecat · 27/09/2016 12:23

Just wondered if anyone is measuring ahead I'm currently 34+6 and just looked at my chart and I am marked at 38? Anyone in the same boat or have experience of this?

Midwife seemed a tad panicked I hadn't packed my hospital bag Confusedooops

helenatroy · 27/09/2016 12:38

I'm 32.5 weeks and measuring at 35. It's an estimate with lots of variables such as genetics. My husband is tall do that's probably part of it. Pack your bag. Start today. I have my baby's side of suitcase packed. It's only missing some little bottles and dummies in case breast feeding does not work. Need to go to mothercare to buy all the sexy stuff, breast pads and disposable knickers etc.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 27/09/2016 17:02

I'm measuring 4+ weeks ahead by fundal height. Baby herself is 47th percentile by scan so not worried. Midwife also said my fundal position was fine, and it was probably due to my long abdomen (5' 11" with fairly standard length legs so she's probably right!).
I keep putting off my hospital bag. Don't know why. So far it's got a wash bag, maternity pads and a pair of leggings in it and I can't seem to make myself to any more. Really weird and I can't work out what my problem is!

tiredmumrighthere · 28/09/2016 09:24

Hi everyone hope your all well?

Anyone else experiencing dizzy spells and breathlessness? Was in tears last night felt so awful, and have woken today and it's no better, doesn't help that Dd has been awake since 6am and I'm so knackered I could cry again Sad

Stretchedfortime · 28/09/2016 12:19

Definitely understand the knackered feeling . I'm really regretting working till 38 weeks and work is v intense right now.

Speaking of intense, I just had such a strong braxton hicks I had to sit in silence with my eyes closed for 2 minutes and just breathe. I was in a Pret and only realised afterwards I had left my wallet out in full view on the table in front of me while that happened. Is anyone else getting them? I'm 34+5 today.

On the upside, we are all on the home stretch now.

tiredmumrighthere · 28/09/2016 12:56

Stretched- yes I get them between 7-10 times a day Confused and their really intense I literally hold my breath until they go! I mentioned them to my mw last time I saw her and she said its normal to have that many with the more kids you've had! This is my 5th and I've never experienced them before so it's all new to me Shock

Fedupithink · 28/09/2016 15:15

I haven't had an Braxton hicks at all, 33+4 today. I've us the breathlessness but not dizzy spells. Could you have high/low blood pressure Tired

Stretched I've just booked in a meeting for Friday with my manager to discus cutting back on work over the next two weeks - if they won't agree, I think the midwife will sign me off as I had another tiny bleed yesterday thought doing too much/stress.

tiredmumrighthere · 28/09/2016 16:04

Fedup-blood pressures fine, I phoned the hospital today about my blood results and apparently I'm low on iron Sad got iron tablets so have started taking them, love how no one phoned to tell me Angry any idea how long they take to kick in to effect? X

needanewjob · 28/09/2016 16:10

Tired I was going to ask if you were anaemic as breathlessness was my only symptom too. I think with iron tablets they get to work pretty quickly but the Drs often like you to stay on them for a while especially when pregnant!

I'm 35+3 and am measuring 37. I always measure big and was told it was probably because I'm quite short and have a short body (as in there's nowhere for baby to hide) so it's interesting you've been told you measure big because you are tall littlegrey I guess they just tell us what they think we keep us happy lol! Both my previous babies were 7lbs tho so Im happy it doesn't necessarily indicate a giant baby is on its way!

I slept for eleven hours last night after a few nights of really broken sleep and rather than make me feel better I've just wanted to nap all day today. Wonder if Im gathering my energy for the big event!

Stretchedfortime · 28/09/2016 17:06

Tired - I had two today within about an hour. I was starting to worry about early labour. But my real concern is how I deal with this if I'm at work. I didn't want anyone to talk to me or touch me during them and really snapped at my husband. Think I may need to warn my colleagues just in case.

Fedup - good luck negotiating that. If I could afford to, I would definitely stop now. I've also stupidly taken on 2 extra projects in the last month. Entirely my fault. I'm hoping I learn to pace myself a bit more as a first time Mum.

tiredmumrighthere · 28/09/2016 17:18

Fedup - last night was terrible, I really couldn't catch my breath either so was having a meltdown Confused hopefully the iron will kick in soon just not looking forward to the constipation that comes with taking them!

Stretched - yep that's how I am when I'm having them, DP try's to comfort me but I just wanna close my eyes and hold my breath until it passes.
I had about 4 last night in the space of 3 hrs so was wondering about early labour and if I should just go to the hospital to be checked but I was just to knackered so went to bed

tapismagique · 28/09/2016 17:21

Tired about the iron tablets - I found they started working within a few days and after week I had loads more energy. I avoid dairy in the meal when I take them (calcium inhibits iron absorption) & drink a glass of prune juice because it contains some iron, further enhances absorption and helps counteract the constipation effect of the iron! I should say "supposedly" for those attributes of prune juice because I'm not a medical professional or a nutritionist... Good luck - hope you feel better soon.

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 28/09/2016 18:27

I've been having the braxton hicks and lack of sleep too! 33+6 today. I had a midwife appointment yesterday and she said I'm measuring fine. I've been worried because almost every person I see seems to feel the need to comment on how small my bump is Hmm

I found out that I should be able to use the birthing centre despite initially being put down as 'high risk' (long term illness and previous issues with pregnancies) as everything has been good so far, so I'm really pleased! Although now that I've been given the okay I'm starting to panic about things going wrong. It's awful and I need to get it out of my mind but it's so hard to. I'm literally keeping myself awake at night worrying about the possibilities. I don't want to talk myself out of using the birthing centre though as I've wanted it so badly throughout this pregnancy. Argh!

Spottyladybird · 28/09/2016 19:21

Super tired here too. Where you all are do you get a personalised growth chart for babies and fundal height? We didn't used to but do now and I'm measuring right on. My MW explained before though that fundal height is quite an odd tool as everyone measures differently and baby good have knees up etc when they do it.

My iron tablets took a couple of weeks to make me feel better. Now feeling normal tired but not exhausted!

Gembear25 · 28/09/2016 19:51

34+6 here and tired is not the word! I'm struggling to keep my eyes open as I type. I'm not sleeping well at all and am waking up almost hourly with back/hip ache, heartburn or needing a wee. I know I won't be getting much sleep once baby is here but at least I'll be able to get comfy! I was measuring 37 weeks at my 34 week appointment so I know he's going to be a big lad but I have opted for a c section (they offered due to existing scar tissue from DS1) so trying not to worry about how big he is. I finish work a week tomorrow and it can't come soon enough!

tapismagique · 28/09/2016 20:02

spotty I have one & it's causing so many problems! GP measured at 31 weeks & it showed no growth from when the mw did it at 29 so referred me for a scan (while muttering that she thinks the whole thing is rubbish) but 2 weeks & endless queries from me later it turned out she'd forgotten to fax the referral so she measured again & it was OK -right at the top of the curve on the graph. Scan showed it to be completely fine (in the middle of the curve), then mw measured again a week later & it's way over the line so I have to go for another scan for the opposite reason to last time. I don't think it's a helpful system as it creates loads of stress & seems to be completely unreliable
