Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Roll up literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

How exciting for your Singapore adventure Canters! We have friends who moved there for 'one to two years' for work five and a half years ago! They love it so much they didn't fancy coming back and have now had 2 babies out there. I'm sure you will love it.

I am loving all the gorgeous baby pictures and stories. I'm finding the insights really great for helping getting my head round all this even though I am so far behind you all! Love the stages of pregnancy chart stardrey I am definitely currently at 'barforama/people think I'm fat'. 😂 Hope you and OH enjoyed your Chinese!

Sorry to hear you are struggling with sleep and your OHs miley and nev I hope you manage to get things sorted with them and can get more sleep soon.

ElleSarcasmo · 14/09/2016 08:34

Thanks Soda, I will try Jojo Maman. I didn't realise they did nursing bras and bra fitting.

Potato hope the door kicker gets caught. That's a horrible thing to do!

Canters congratulations on the move, will it be after baby is here? SG will be awesome and a great base to travel in the region, lucky you!

Miley hopefully your OH will start to get it a bit more and his confidence will grow with time. Mine is already saying he wants to sleep in the spare room on work days!

Welcome Jan! Smile

Nevlet · 14/09/2016 08:41

Lisa not sure to be honest health visitor said until they are two months you should ring drs if you think they are ill so we have an appointment this afternoon.

Am knackered after last night and he is still wide awake and grizzling away the whole time I don't really know what to do with him. Hate feeling so helpless!

IndiX · 14/09/2016 10:10

Just to let you new mummies know, as much as I'm sure it's really tough (especially when OH's can be a bit of a pain) and you're lacking sleep and feeding may be a challenge...I think you're all doing amazing and I'm really inspired by how well all you first time Mum's are doing. There's no manual on how to cope with a newborn and hearing all your daily stories makes me realise how the maternal instinct does kick in and I will just 'know' what to do when Beanie arrives I'm hoping.

36w today, just done a massive pink wash and have all the clothes hanging on the airer. It's got me very excitedGrin going to go to spin shortly then I have my 36w midwife appt this afternoon. Can't believe I'm 36w today and Beanie is the size of a chihuahuaHmm

Oh and I have constipation and a haemorrhoid..happy daysEnvy

AudreyBradshaw · 14/09/2016 10:19

potato wrap the baby up warm and stick it in the pram outside is what I've always thought you did BlushGrin fresh air and getting it used to noise lol. We've already got a cat net for the pram lol. Whether I'll feel the same in January is another matter haha! Grin

miley don't be a hero, kick him in the ankle to wake him up. You are feeding him but if you don't get enough rest you're going to be on your knees in ni time and that's no good. You deal with input, he deals with output or something?

OP posts:
Mileymoocow · 14/09/2016 11:25

lisa of course! This is his 'I made my mummy look like a liar in front of the community midwife' face! He fed almost bloody immediately. Bunch I 100% think it was your blow and tickle advice so thank you!

elle and marmite he's taken over now and I'm allowing myself time to have a shower and get sorted. He's on night duty tonight apart from feeds... you're so right audrey! I had to have my noonie stitched so I'm sure he can get up during the night Wink

I really was dead set against dummies but he loves his when he's a little unsettled and cuddles just won't do Blush

Miley I was dead against dummy's too but likewise, Arya gets a lot of comfort from hers when she's fussy.

Audrey I take Arya out for walks in her pram, which she usually likes but I couldn't bring myself to just leave her outside.

Indi the first few hours of being a mummy are terrifying. What the hell do you do with this small needy human? Then the MW show you how to feed, dress and change said tiny human and after that instinct does slowly take over. After all, we are programmed to look after our babies and they're not terribly complicated. For the first couple of weeks they only have three states, asleep, hungry and uncomfortable due to a full nappy.
After that it starts getting a little more complicated as they start paying attention to the world.

I've dug out some more books and toys for Arya as she's starting to show interest... Not sure what she thinks of this vibrating bug thing Grin

Oooooohh squishy little face! Sooooo gorgeous! miley definetly wake dp up! You pushed a human out of your bajingo! You have stitches in it! And you're doing all the feeding etc! He can summon the strength to peel himself out of his pit!

potato that's my thought process, I shall walk the baby for fresh air! Everyone I know (of my Nana brethren crew) have said to stick baby near/outside the back door with it propped open for an hour or so a day! I'm like, but the house will be freezing! My baby will be cold! think I'll have to cross that bridge when it comes to it! Lol

Oh Miley that teddy photo

LisaTheSimpson · 14/09/2016 13:50

Awww, Miley, he’s adorable! The one with the teddy – oh, it melts my heart! And such little hands in the clothes! Are you in love and smitten?

Potato, that’s such a lovely photo of Arya. I love seeing you guys’ photos!

BunchOfBobs · 14/09/2016 14:17

As we're sharing photos. Atticus is currently slowly stirring from a nap. He keeps opening his eyes then deciding to sleep more. Once he's awake we'll have a hum change then hopefully back to sleep so I can nap, else it's the ring sling and we're cooking tea.
He is being gorgeous and switching between happy dreams leading to smiles and sad dreams with the bottom lip coming out.

Damson9 · 14/09/2016 14:28

Hi there ladies. I was directed to this thread from the TTC thread, the posters of which were my lucky charm as I fell pregnant soon after making my first post! (After 17 months of trying!)

Well, I'm now approaching seven weeks and thought I'd pop in and say hi. Also to pick your brains: do you remember when you had your first midwife contact?

I saw my doctor a fortnight ago, and he took all my details to pass on to the hospital, saying they'd send me details of appointments etc, but I've still not heard anything. I know I mightn't be likely to see anyone for a little while yet, but I thought they might have made contact.

Am I just being impatient? I just feel a little left in limbo. I wasn't given any advice on diet, activity, supplements etc, and while I know the Internet is a wealth of information, a lot of it is conflicting, so I would have appreciated a little official guidance...

BunchOfBobs · 14/09/2016 14:43

Hi Damson, Welcome and congratulations. Your booking in appointment should be between weeks 8 and 10 so I too would have expected to hear something by now but you may hear from them in he next week. It's worth chasing though as its very easy to be missed and slip through the cracks. Regarding supplements you need to be taking folic acid and vitamin D daily. I took a pregnancies supplement but you can get away with cheaper or just the folic and vit d. NHS guidelines are the easiest place for diet recommendations but ignore it if it says you can't eat runny eggs. If they're lion stamped you can.
Activity keep doing whatever you have been doing, if your body is used to it it's safe to continue doing so Smile

Mileymoocow · 14/09/2016 15:55

indi believe me when I say no one has less idea than me! And we've made it 2 days and he still seems to be content Wink you'll be absolutely fine, I promise.

Well, after the midwife called he has been guzzling every 3 hours again, straight back to sleep, pee, poop, rinse and repeat!

damson welcome and congratulations!! I agree you should have heard by now - definitely chase it up. bunch's advice pretty much sums up what I'd have said, too.

potato and bunch (and all other mums!) Am I the only one who thinks it'd be amazing to see them all together! We all made pretty fucking amazing babies Grin with so many more on the way.

My first post labour poo is done and it was fine. I held a maternity pad against my vaj incase my internals came away but luckily it was just a small amount of blood and some clots. Looooovely. I'm now sitting in a tepid bath rinsing off my nethers then I'm going to allow them to air dry. Still too terrified to look at my damage. My tummy is like a lump of jelly and I can see my embarrassingly unkempt bush again.

Damson9 · 14/09/2016 15:57

Well, I've dropped them a quick email, so hopefully I'll hear something soon. :)

I am taking folic acid and vitamin D, but I'm a little concerned that I might need a calcium supplement as I'm lactose intolerant so I don't eat much dairy. My doctor says that that would be apparent from a blood test the midwife would do, so I'm still in the dark about that.

I guess I'm just impatient to get things going!

I was thrilled to hear the news about runny eggs! I figure that's what was holding me back... :)

Mileymoocow · 14/09/2016 15:57

lisa I'm so in love my heart actually aches. I didn't realise I was capable of feeling this much emotion - not something I'll ever get over Grin

AudreyBradshaw · 14/09/2016 16:14

How did I miss the pic of Arya!? Gorgeous! potato beautiful little sausage!

And bunch n'awwwwwww! That hair! And what beautiful skin, little poppet!

Well done on your poo miley woop woop!

My feet have swelled up! Had to go get some cheapy havaianas (or however you spell it!) Because I'll be buggered if I'm putting trainers on and my sandals are all rubbing!

AudreyBradshaw · 14/09/2016 16:16

And poor little bodhi with the sniffles! Can you use vicks on their feet when they're so tiny?

OP posts:
Canters15 · 14/09/2016 17:44

Thanks for all the congrats ladies! I'm very excited (and a teensy bit nervous). We'll be going end of January, so a while off yet but I expect it will fly by.

Welcome damson and jan! Nice to have some newbies!

All this talk of being able to turn over again is getting me excited! I can't imagine what it will be like to not be pregnant. Or to have a son. I had a lot of wobbles earlier in the pregnancy but feeling really positive and excited now, I think all the mummy posts here have helped a lot with that.

Sorry some of the men are being rubbish. I think everything changes for us the second we get the bfp (and I did not expect that at all), but they only start adapting when the baby is here. That sounds a bit sexist but I could never have imagined what the experience of pregnancy would be like before I got pregnant, it's no wonder they lag behind a bit.

Pyxie · 14/09/2016 18:06

Damson the Tesco pregnancy vitamins have calcium in. But I wouldn't worry too much, I'm vegan and my levels seem to be fine. Do you use a milk alternative? I have almond milk on my cereal and eat alpro yogurts and if you eat eggs I think they have calcium in, and veg of course!

I think you've hit the nail on the head there Canters! I think it gets real for us a lot sooner than for the non-pregnant partner.

So many cute babies!

IndiX · 14/09/2016 18:58

Damson congratulations on your pregnancy! I had my booking in appt at about 7 weeks, so I would definitely chase them up as sometimes they can take a while to get in touch about your 12 week scan. I used Seven Seas pregnancy multi vitamin ( 3 months worth for £10 in asda) but I think as long as you are getting folic acid then tou should be fine. Carry on with normal exercise/activity as long as you can or feel like it.

Baby photos are making me SO excited ladies! You all have such adorable babies, I love seeing them all.

Miley well done for your successful pooGrin My poo routine is really messed up and has slowed down which annoys me, plus I have this bloody haemorrhoidAngry

36w midwife appt went well, all is normal and fine with both me and Beanie. She also said she won't see me now until AFTER beanie arrivesShockShockShock usually I would see her about 38 and 40 weeks but I'm seeing the consultant at 38w for my pre-op appt and then my C section is 39+2 the consultant will take over from now on. I kind of wanted to say 'can I just come and see you anyway?...'
How exciting/scary!

LillianFullStop · 14/09/2016 20:19

Omg bunch, potato and miley I am going goo over these baby pics it's making me so excited for my little one to come!!! gooooooooooo

miley well done on the successful poo! I can imagine how stressful it can be and nice tip on the pad over the fancy to support everything.

Welcome damsel and congrats on the pregnancy!

LillianFullStop · 14/09/2016 20:20

glad all is well indi now just counting down to ELCS date!!!

Nevlet · 14/09/2016 20:31

Damson9 · 14/09/2016 20:34

Thanks ladies, I've been in touch with the midwives today and they do have me in the books and say I will relieve my appointment in due course, so I guess I'll sit tight!

I took the seven seas ones until I got my bfp (the whole time we were trying, they were on three for two in boots and I used my boots points to buy them - I was coming to the end of my last packet and had joked that I didn't want to have to spend actual money on them as I'd run out of points when I found out we had made it!) and since then I've been taking boots' combined folic acid and vitamin D. I'm not worried too much about the calcium at the minute, but will see what the midwives say when I go in!

For now, my husband is force feeding me fruit (I'm much more of a vegetable girl) and I'm doing a fair amount of sleeping - I am loving this as an excuse to nap Wink
