Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Roll up literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

shelb congratulations!!! So glad to hear she's arrived (sorry it was traumatic though). Thanks for your update - pretty sure you've been in all of our thoughts for a couple of days

HepKestrel · 30/08/2016 11:53

congratulations shelb !!!

IndiX · 30/08/2016 12:06

Yay Shelb massive congratulations!! Sorry to hear it was traumatic but I hope you and baby Shelb are now doing well and you're enjoying those precious newborn cuddlesStarFlowers

Sodasoda · 30/08/2016 12:30

Congratulations shelb! Hope you recover well xx

marmitecheesetoast · 30/08/2016 12:38

Congratulations Shelb!! Hope you are recovering well and enjoying gorgeous snuggles.

Thanks for all the input on hospitals guys Smile I should have said, I live basically equidistant between the two! Otherwise that would have made the decision easy! pinklilly I don't have any other friends who have had babies yet (either where I live or elsewhere!) so have no one to ask, eeek! And also feel like I have no one in 'RL' who will know what this is like - thank goodness for MN Grin

Pyxie I have been told I have the option of Wythenshawe or St Marys (Oxford Road). Where are you going?

Hep are you in the NW too?! Sorry to hear about your bloods, how frustrating!

I've just had my early scan that I'd booked privately for Thursday cancelled. They've just rang me and asked if they could move it to Saturday. I'm a bit pissed off. I know it's only two days later, but DH had specifically organised to work from home on Thursday so he'd definitely been home on time and now I'm going to have to rearrange plans on Saturday. Plus, I've just been working towards Thursday for a while!

pinklilly that made me laugh about people's reactions at the wedding when you said you were due tomorrow! Hope you don't have too long to wait.

IndiX · 30/08/2016 12:53

Marmite I had my early gender scan at 16 weeks postponed for a week and cried my eyes out. I know what it's like when you have a certain day in your mind, at least it is only a couple of days. Totally understand your annoyance though!

Aaahh pink so exciting that your 40 weeks today! A girl I know (the one who had a 4 hour labour from start to finish and no drugs) had no feeling at all on her due date and then suddenly started getting contractions at 11pm that night. I hope the same happens for you!

Leonie sounds like you and Theo are doing so well! Must be hard in the hospital but hoepfully you'll be out very soon.

Just been to the gym with a friend and just having lunch before I get ready to go pick DH up from the airport. He's got a few days off this week so is flying from Scotland to Liverpool to see me and the family before we head back up there this weekend. I've only been away from him for 4/5 days but have missed him loads ( not usually a very soppy person) so I'm looking forward to picking him upSmile
No major complaints here, I have a sore pelvis and back but no change there. Hope you're all doing well, sorry to anyone I've missed out!

mayago · 30/08/2016 13:17

Congratulations Shelb! Sorry to hear you've had a hard time, but delighted for you that she's here!

leonie so happy to hear Theo's with you. It sounds like he's doing really well, and fingers crossed you can head home with him soon!

Potato yay for being signed off by the midwife! I hope things are going well with your mum.

Bunch finished with the antibiotics? That's awesome! It must be such a relief to see an improvement, at long last!

Pink happy 40 weeks! Glad to hear you enjoyed the wedding, and I would have loved to see people's expressions when they found out you were due the following day!

Miley I get one wear out of maternity trousers before needing to wash them. I'm going to have to stock up on pads before I go on holiday Confused The increase in CM is something no one mentions!! I'm hoping it doesn't get any worse, but from your experience is sounds like it does!

7 commutes left Soda? That's a good way to count down to mat leave! It's exciting to have it so close!

Lilian congrats on 8 months! I always have to consult google to see how many months I am. I wish people would be content with an answer in weeks, but it's always 'how many months' gone are you' they ask, particularly my mother!

Sorry to everyone I've missed - it's a hectic day at work. I've finally cracked and told my boss I'm pregnant in an email - I won't see him again until after the legal limit has passed. I should have waited another day or two as it's just too much today. My office was closed last week so I have a week of things to catch up on and then I'm on holiday from Friday!

Pyxie · 30/08/2016 13:23

Massive congrats Shelb!

Marmite I'm further South in Macclesfield. I don't know anyone who has been to St Marys but a friend recently had a baby in Wythenshawe and she didn't have any complaints!

PotatosMum · 30/08/2016 13:37

OMG congrats Shelb, welcome to the world of trying to fit everything you used to do in a day into the hour or so that baby is properly asleep Wink
Sorry your labour was traumatic but hopefully you'll forget the details quickly.

Massive congratulations shelb 🎊🎉🍦💐🎁🍰💜👍💟🍸 wonderful news! Hope recovery goes smoothly, much love and prayers! And to you too leonie what a good news update!

I didn't realise there were so many Manc's about! I'll be having baby in Salford Royal MLU all being well. Given that I've been banned from trying home birth by my dad, Dh and a few others! It's only 10 mins up the road from us and dh know the way!

He's just lost his job (yesterday) but it's a good thing. I'm honestly relieved. This will give us a chance to get him out of night work and the club's. He's already on with a different company and has some hours but I'm using the next week or so to faff with his CV and update it and hopefully point him in another direction. It was getting so dangerous, this is a good thing.

AudreyBradshaw · 30/08/2016 16:56

Meant to say marmite out of the two I'd probably choose St Marys as I've heard good things about the care there, and the fetal medicine is apparently amazing and very current.

HepKestrel · 30/08/2016 17:08

had a quick look, and i honestly feel reassured about the hospital

LisaTheSimpson · 30/08/2016 17:12

Stardrey - I don't know whether to say sorry or congrats! Sounds like it's not a bad thing if you're relieved about it, and it's good you can help him improve his CV and applications.

Is he upset about it?

AudreyBradshaw · 30/08/2016 17:19

He was miffed because he's been stitched up lisa but honestly, I'm thrilled! It was the only way he was ever going to get out of that particular venue and it was fighting a losing battle and really having an impact on his health. We're extraordinarily fortunate in that him being out of work for a few weeks won't mean we end up homeless etc. Im convinced it's a blessing in disguise!

OP posts:
HepKestrel · 30/08/2016 17:41

Stardrey i remember your comments about his job on the ttc thread.
goodluck with his jobsearch.

Mileymoocow · 30/08/2016 17:59

Audrey I'm relieved for you! My ex used to work the doors and it's bloody terrifying! I absolutely hate how much they have to put up with and are only allowed to defend themselves in certain situations etc so yay! It's shit really money etc but at least you won't be worrying about him at all hours.

marmite I'd be pissed too! I know what it's like to count down the days until you see your baby on the screen. I hope you enjoy it though - I found it an incredible experience Smile we had our early scan at 8 weeks.

may hopefully your boss will get back to you soon and you can start planning maternity leave etc! Exciting! Yeah, the cm has been insane since about 28 weeks! It's getting worse the closer to D Day I get though and (sorry TMI at tea time!) can feel it when I'm walking etc. I have to wear a pad now and will wear one at nights after this morning's experience!

indi I'm very clingy with OH at the moment, too. I'm not usually a massively romantic/affectionate girlfriend (he is definitely the romantic one!) So I think he's secretly loving it. Enjoy your time in Liverpool Smile

PotatosMum · 30/08/2016 17:59

Leonie you really are doing so well, I would have gone crazy by now. The sleep thing gets better quite quickly, you just need to push through. Cuddle Theo as much as possible, it'll make it more bearable Smile

Pink letting other people hold your baby is the worse part of having visitors. A few of my friends have offered to come round and help once OH goes back to work. I just want to take the opportunity to hug her all day and don't want others coming over wanting a go lol

Congrats on 40 weeks, your baby is obviously comfy where she is Wink

Shelb do we get to know the name and see photos? I hope you're recovering well. 11 days later I'm still tender but I was saying to OH I don't really remember labour at all, it's like my brain has just put that part of the experience in a little box marked "stuff you don't need to know" Confused

Marmite sorry your scan was delayed.

Audrey hope your OH gets a better job than the one he had.

Bunch forgot to say yes, completely in love with Arya. I wasn't completely besotted immediately as after labour I was happy for midwives to look after her and not fussed at all but I probably started falling for her after I'd had a few hours sleep and I've just fallen more and more in love the longer I've had her. Have to admit with all the hormones I have actually sat a couple of times getting teary because I just love her so much and want her to be this amazing forever.

The call with my mum wasn't too bad. She was sensible for a few minutes and we thought we were making progress but then she started saying she wanted to come over and "help" me and insisting that is be lonely when my OH went back to work and wouldn't cope. When I said no to her coming over she reverted and started getting angry again and blaming me for everything. As we could see where it was going we ended the call. I'm supposed to call her every couple of days but I think it's going to pretty repetitive.

IrregularCommentary · 30/08/2016 18:18

Congratulations Shelb! Thrilled for you that she's here and you get to crack on with the cuddles. Sorry you had a tough labour though, I hope recovery is going well.

Marmite I'm sure my SIL is under St Mary's and is having a good experience with them. She's fairly high risk one way and another and has been in and out of the hospital throughout (she's 30 weeks now) but she seems to have had a good experience with them so far.

I finish work in 8 days. So ready! I'll be 36 weeks when I go and I am on such a countdown. It's been fairly stressful and a bit shit of late anyway, and adding in hormones combined with being uncomfortable and tired aren't really helping much...

Re. dh's didn't know she was pregnant colleague... fuck knows. I'd say it's all pretty bloody obvious! She genuinely had no clue though. Mum and baby both doing fine so I guess that's the main thing. Still don't know how you get your head around something like that though!

Newmrs22 · 30/08/2016 19:02

Shelb congratulations! Hope you are feeling ok. Our babies were the same weight! I agree with potato, it all becomes a blur. I've actually been talking about baby number 2!

irregular I finished at 36 weeks and it was perfect timing. I got lots of rest.

Potato glad the call wasn't too bad.

audrey that's good news then! Feels weird to congratulate someone on losing a job, but congratulations!

So Jacob is a little piggy! 2 weeks old today and up to 9lb 1! Yay boobies! Saw the HV today, she's very happy. Haven't been signed off by midwife because he has a touch of jaundice, which is getting better, but if not totally gone by tomorrow will have to be referred to jaundice clinic

LisaTheSimpson · 30/08/2016 19:27

I love this thread. I never thought I'd be congratulating people on their bodily functions (having a poo, losing their plug, etc.)

Congrats on your boobies, New! Sounds like they're doing a great job! Grin

BunchOfBobs · 30/08/2016 19:41

Hooray for boobies new! Midwife today asked what was in my milk as Atticus looks as big as a 3 month old Grin

Leonie hope Theo is having his treatment with you, you're doing so amazingly.

Potato glad the call went better than you thought.

Glad for the blessing in disguise Stardrey.

I got discharged from the midwife today huzzah! Only took 3 bloody weeks. We have been referred for physio for me for incontinence as I'm high risk and for Atticus for brachycephaly as he has a flat spot on the side of his head due to having a stiff neck thanks to the salad tongs. Doing everything we can to resolve it though. I got puked on my shoulder for the for the first time today. Yay mum milestones Grin

Pink congrats on due date. Smile are you the first of us to make it that far? Or did you go over New?

Pinklily1 · 30/08/2016 19:53

Congratulations Shelb! I'm sorry to hear it was a traumatic birth, but so pleased she is hear safely. I hope you are recovering ok.

Audrey, sorry to hear about your OH's job, but hopefully you are right and its a blessing in disguise. It would really worry me if my OH was on the doors at night, I can see why you want a change of career for hi,

Potato i'm glad the call what your mum wasn't too bad.

Soda - only three days to go until you finish!!

Indi, i hope that happens to me!

Marmite, so sorry to hear your scan has been changed. Even though its only a few days later, we build ourselves up for these things I think, partly with nerves and partly with excitement, so it must be disappointing.

Congratulations on the good boobs New!

I'm off to the midwife tomorrow for a sweep. Has anyone had one? I've been told that if it doesn't work within 48 hours it means its not going to work at all. We'll see what happens.

Pinklily1 · 30/08/2016 19:54

And congratulations on being discharged by the midwife Bunch, that's great news!

I don't remember anyone else making it to 40 weeks, unless New did?

BunchOfBobs · 30/08/2016 20:03

Pink I had one and went into labour within 48 hours. It was uncomfortable but I've had more uncomfortable smears. Advice I was given was don't let them do it if your cervix is unfavourable as there's no point and it will be painful, your body isn't ready. Whereas I was 1cm dilated and 50%effaced already, she even felt Atticus' head during it Grin.
