Morning all!

I was spot-free until a couple of days ago when I got one of those annoying huge spots others have mentioned (right on my chin, naturally!) and a few little pimples to keep it company. And of course I'm off to a hen 'do at the weekend so that'll look nice, just in time! Wierdly, my chin area (where I believe hormonal-type spots are meant to be worst) was always much worse pre-pregnancy; apart from my new spotty chum I've gained this week, my skin's been clearer than usual.

Like others, my nails have been great too! Much stronger than usual. I have enormous hair anyway so it takes me a while to notice any change in it - still seems normal to me at the moment!

In terms of what I think I'm having... I am 100% on the Boy side of the fence right now. I've just never felt, since the positive test, that there's a girl in there. We'll find out at the 20 week, but I'd be shocked if it was a girl! Not because we don't want one - as long as he/she is healthy we're good with whatever! - but because I literally just haven't felt at all like I'm having a girl {smile] - wierd how the pregnant-brain works!

CinderellaFant · 17/08/2016 10:01

Thank you for sympathy yesterday, no he didn't bring the right ones home Sad I went out in a huff and got them myself. He's usually great but don't know what he was thinking yesterday.

I have a few spots but nothing too bad. I am 90% sure I'm having a boy. I already have one of each so have no preference but this pregnancy is very similar to the pregnancy I had with my son- constant exhaustion and sickness. With DD I had no sickness at all. We are struggling to think of a boys name though!

I've got even bigger!

Impressive bump Cinderella!

I've had horrible spots, they started in my miscarried pregnancy late last year, and haven't gone since! I used to have terrible skin but it was great for years until I got pregnant. I may see if the GP will give me a topical antibiotic.

I had a strong urge to call the baby 'she' during my 9 week scan, but not at all during my 12 week. I don't care what it is but I am intrigued...I've put a pic up on the Ingender forum to see if they can help me guess. Too impatient!

Dreamingoutloud7 · 17/08/2016 10:12

As soon as I found out I was pregnant I was convinced it was a girl, even though I always thought I'd have a boy first.
However whenever I see the scan pic I immediately think it's a boy, when I'm away from the pictures I start thinking girl again.
So basically I have no idea Grin but would be ecstatic with either!

Dreamingoutloud7 · 17/08/2016 10:12

Oh and my parents and dh are convinced boy, but all my friends think girl!!

Sienna9522 · 17/08/2016 10:19

Keeping, I'm having my baby at Bolton. It was either that or North Manchester since Fairfield closed its maternity services. My friend has had 2 babies there and told me about her positive experiences, plus it's closer to Bury where we are. All my antenatal apps have been and will be at Salford Royal.

Holly1987 · 17/08/2016 12:40

When I first found out I was pregnant, my first guy feeling was that I'm having a girl... I also had really bad nausea in my first trimester.
But after seeing the scan video & watching how it treated my womb like a bouncy castle, I've changed my mind! Plus my sickness has stopped.

I'm screwed with the old wives tales. I only wanted beige savoury food at the beginning. Now I like my sweet treats.
I'm showing low, but only because the baby is low in my pelvis.
Never heard the spot one. Just assumed my hormones are ruining my skin & hair lol
Which sex gives you heartburn??

CeeCeeEnnEss · 17/08/2016 13:03

I love catching up on the chat! I'm convinced I'm having a boy based on only a feeling. My 'bump' is pretty high too.

divadee · 17/08/2016 13:12

I was convinced this one was a boy. So was everyone else. It's a girl though!!!

As for spots and hair. Yes to both. And my hair is falling out all over the place. Luckily I have lots of it!!

kikisdelivery · 17/08/2016 13:53

Haha diva, I'm currently at the stage you must have been without the actual confirmation in that case - me and everyone else is convinced this is going to be a boy... we shall see!!

GinIsIn · 17/08/2016 14:01

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with spots and dry hair! I was one of those smug bastards who even made it through puberty without getting spots so I am really unhappy about having them now!

Ordered mane and tail shampoo and conditioner and all the amazing French pharmacy moisturisers from bioderma and la Roche posay, and will just be drenching myself in it all until things go back to normal!

FriendlyGhost · 17/08/2016 14:14

Dotty I put mine on there too and everyone said girl. I have to say that I've been focused on girls names and can imagine a girl but that might be because I already have a dd so I can imagine a girl more easily. Saying that, at the scan I started to think boy and my symptoms aren't as bad as last time (although they're still pretty hideous) so I'm wondering if that's because it's a different sex.

DottyA · 17/08/2016 14:28

Well, Ingender didn't work for me....they couldn't see the right bits well enough. I'm pretty skeptical anyway but thought it might be fun.....guess I'll just have to be patient.

gumbootsandjandals · 17/08/2016 15:00

Grrr, getting so fed up with people asking if dc3 was planned. It's nice work colleagues so I don't feel I can give them a rude answer (altho one SIL also posed the question due to smallish gap apparently).

Nobody asked me if the first two were planned. Why is a third child questionable? I would never dream of asking anyone if any of their children were planned. I think it's incredibly nosy and rude.

Readyfortwo · 17/08/2016 15:11

Sorry to ruin it but I had terrible spots last time & had a boy.....this time I'm just getting the odd one or two but I don't know what I'm having yet!

Sienna9522 · 17/08/2016 15:36

Gumboots, an estate agent asked me if my pregnancy was planned yesterday. I found it incredibly intrusive!

FriendlyGhost · 17/08/2016 15:40

Gum my mum had exactly the same with her 3rd. People can be so rude!
I don't remember getting spots last time and I had a girl. None this time either. I do have horrible dry hair though.

ScottishSnowflake · 17/08/2016 15:45

Hi all!

Only one or two spots for me and no sickness (although nausea is terrible). Scan says a boy and I have no bump - I just look fat Sad 15+3 today and praying bump hurries up soon!

kikisdelivery · 17/08/2016 15:46

gumboots this is my first and everyone's been really congratulatory, including the beautician I went to yesterday for an eyebrow shape. However, she also asked me if it was planned! I'm sure she was trying to just make conversation about it, but it was a bizarre question - I wasn't offended, just amused!

twocatsandatoddler · 17/08/2016 15:59

The other favourite question I got last time is "how long were you trying for?" - from (amongst others) a colleague I barely know .

We have been incredibly fortunate and I conceived first cycle (same this time) and I didn't mind talking about it with friends, but I have friends who took a long time to TTC and who would have found the question really intrusive. It's not anyone else's business!

kikisdelivery · 17/08/2016 15:59

Scottish someone at work today (who knows I'm pregnant!) said that I had more of a visible small bump. Which is good, because it's looked like flab for ages! I'm 14+6 now.

topmammy · 17/08/2016 16:49

twocats I conceived first month trying last time and this time as well. Feel very lucky indeed!

I am just dying to know if I'm having a boy or a girl!! 20w scan is on 7th October so a bit of a wait yet. If I had to guess right now I'd say boy. I find boys name harder to choose though.

I popped into work today to do a bit of prep in my classroom. There was a few staff about and they know I'm pregnant so the usual questions have begun Hmm I really shouldn't but I can't help feeling a bit guilty that my headteacher has got just 1 term to find a replacement for me. Eeek. Though they were rubbish sorting out my maternity leave and pay last time so I shouldn't have any sympathy for them really.

My nails are also looking good and growing really quick. I've treated myself by ordering a Butter London Yummy Mummy nail varnish today Grin

FlipperSkipper · 17/08/2016 17:51

It took me a long long time to conceive and now I'm pregnant I'm happy for people to know that, to kind of raise a bit of awareness, but I know a lot of people in my situation wouldn't want to talk about it.

I got my downs screening results back today and I'm low risk, which is a relief. We're telling my parents about the pregnancy this weekend, and the in laws next weekend (we don't live near either set of parents).

I can't wait to get a bit of a bump!

MarjorySunshineDust · 17/08/2016 18:12

One of the first things my manager asked me last time was if it was planned, I was quite taken aback! No one has really asked this time apart from an aquantance yesterday. I found it hard not to say yes but not quite so quickly! My nan relayed a conversation she had with my cousin about how they didn't think we would have any more children, didn't realise I was such a hot topic. It does grate a bit, dd isn't even three yet!

It took a good 7/8 months to conceive dd so really wasn't expecting it to happen first month this time. If I'm totally honest I still feel shocked!

I feel soo rough with this head cold, have sent DH out for more paracetamol.

MarjorySunshineDust · 17/08/2016 18:14

Oh and speaking of gender, has anyone looked up their dates on the Chinese gender predictor thing? It was right for dd last time Grin
