I think I'm having a girl this time, everyone else thinks boy. Not finding out so won't know for quite some time! I'm really not bothered either way but will be surprised if baby is a boy.

sienna I had both my daughters at bolton and had a really good experience both times and they where very different births. My other choice was Wigan but I'd rather stick with Bolton. X

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 17/08/2016 18:51

Chinese calendar was right for.my youngest but not.my.eldest x

divadee · 17/08/2016 19:29

I just tried to the Chinese gender thing and says I am having a boy. Hhmmmmm but it's a girl!!! Lol.

DottyA · 17/08/2016 19:33

Chinese calendar says boy for me... we'll see!

Shellbell0403 · 17/08/2016 20:01

Got my cub results in today, low risk 😁😚

Shellbell0403 · 17/08/2016 20:02

Chinese calender says girl for me, I was looking at the skull theory test also...

Sienna9522 · 17/08/2016 20:54

Keeping, that's good to know - thank you. Glad I chose Bolton now x

Dreamingoutloud7 · 17/08/2016 21:52

We got our combined screening results through, 1:44789 for Down syndrome and 1:100000 for Edwards.
It says low risk, so I'm happy with that.

Mysterycat23 · 17/08/2016 22:13

Thanks for the tip marjory not heard of the Chinese calendar! It says girl! Only a month to find out, scan on 20 September. I have knitted some multicoloured baby hats in dark blue with purple and green, my mum's comment was "oh so it's a girl then" my face Hmm er, boys can wear any colour mum?!

twocatsandatoddler · 17/08/2016 22:22

mystery we're scan buddies! Seems such a long time off but I'm sure it'll go really quickly.

FriendlyGhost · 17/08/2016 22:51

The Chinese calendar said boy for my dd. It says girl this time. Who knows! I've tried to guess from skull theory but couldn't work it out!

kikisdelivery · 17/08/2016 22:52

I could not get that chinese calendar thing to work - it asked me to work out my lunar birthday and goodness knows what! It all seemed too confusing!

So the DP and I went out for a meal tonight and as it's been a nice sunny day I had a pint of lager shandy with dinner. I'm now feeling horribly guilty that I enjoyed it at the time and worrying about the effects. I haven't missed alcohol at all but got caught up in the summer evening moment... I know there's guidelines saying 1-2 units once per week may be ok, but argh I now feel dreadful!

LondonGirl83 · 17/08/2016 23:53

Congrats on your screening results shell and dreaming

kiki a colleague of mine moderately drank through all 3 of her pregnancies and her eldest is off to Oxford this autumn. Don't worry or beat yourself up about a shandy 😀.

LondonGirl83 · 17/08/2016 23:56

After thinking it was done, my sickness has returned visciously today. Had an expensive lunch at a nice restaurant our last day on holiday and 30 min after leaving threw everything up 😩

I'm almost 14 weeks and I'm not sure when the nausea and sensitivity to smells etc is going to end...

ScottishSnowflake · 18/08/2016 05:55

Hi London. Sadly I was ill last night too! Was fine during the day and then brought tea back up a little while later. I'm hoping this goes soon as had just started to feel better (no nausea feelings for a few days). I'm 15+4 today. Hope you're feeling better!

divadee · 18/08/2016 07:28

Morning ladies

london and scottish I'm 16+2 and still suffering with the nausea and sensitivity to smells. Sorry!!! I'm hoping it does one soon though as I'm getting very very fed up and down about it.

DottyA · 18/08/2016 07:55

Kiki - Expecting Better's conclusion is that up to 10 units a week is OK in the 2nd/3rd trimester. I've not had as much as that but have had a glass of wine or a half pint here and there and haven't worried about that at all. Most people I know have done the same.

Holly1987 · 18/08/2016 08:13

I had around half a glass of prosecco at a housewarming and my midwife made me feel so bad Went quiet and then just said "oh, probably best that you don't have any more for the rest of the pregnancy" - I felt awful! I thought half a glass of bubbles in 3 months was totally acceptable until then. And now husband keeps bringing it up

divadee · 18/08/2016 08:27

Oh holly what a horrible midwife! I haven't had any alcohol yet as my nausea and sickness is making me not want it. But..... When I start to feel better (if it ever happens!) I will be having the odd glass of wine etc....

Dreamingoutloud7 · 18/08/2016 08:41

Oh holly how lovely of her! I think mw are very much zero alcohol, but I had a glass of prosecco on our anniversary and I will have one on my birthday, and I'm not toasting Xmas without champagne!
Seriously when you know what some mothers did in their pregnancies, like one friend didn't know she was pregnant until she was 7 months! And had a very boozy holiday when she would've been 5 months. Baby is perfectly fine.
I'm not saying lets all go out and get smashed but I doubt a little every now and then is anything to worry about.

twocatsandatoddler · 18/08/2016 08:44

holly I got judged by a midwife at my booking appointment when I said I'd been having a small glass of wine occasionally - I do mean a small glass and it was only about every 2-3 weeks. She told me in no uncertain terms to "make it zero". I got a bit angry with her as I said she was being very judgemental - two years ago the NHS advice was one to two units, once or twice a week is ok.

The upshot of me getting angry is that she red-flagged my file, and a few weeks later my GP called me in for a chat to "see if everything is okay". When I told my GP what I'd told the midwife she said my alcohol consumption sounded totally responsible, and no further action needed!

I really wouldn't worry about half a glass of fizz!

Holly1987 · 18/08/2016 08:54

Her response did surprise me. Sounds like they're all zero tolerance to anything.

I didn't know I was pregnant for the first 4 weeks, so obviously I couldn't help that. But as soon as I knew I stopped drinking, stopped my social smoking, swapped my morning coffee to tea & changed my whole diet. So I really wasn't expecting to get made to feel like a bad mother for half a glass of fizz as a one off lol
What annoys me is my DH now makes a big deal of it. I don't think he gets how much you do give up for your baby bless him.

kikisdelivery · 18/08/2016 09:03

Thank you ladies! Your non-judgmental comments have made me feel a bit more normal again - especially given I slept really badly last night because I was kicking myself mentally for having caved in to one drink.

Clearly like the rest of you, this was a one off, but I can't believe some of the midwife stories you have!! Blimey, sometimes they can be really odd about stuff. At my booking appt, I told the midwife I stopped smoking 10 years ago. I looked at my notes recently and it says I stopped smoking in May!!! I definitely need to take that up with them - I dread to think what judgments they might be casting about me with their incorrect data!!

divadee · 18/08/2016 09:50

I went on a holiday in June this year before I knew I was pregnant and had a bottle of wine every evening!!!! I was pregnant but didn't know it. And I know a friend who didn't know she was pregnant until 17 weeks and she went on massive hen party venders 3 times!!! Her child is now a strapping 17 year old!!

Sunshineface123 · 18/08/2016 09:57

Hi ladies hope you're all well this morning! Just skimmed through the last few comments and really recommend expecting better book. Lots of sensible advice in there based on scientific research. I've had a few glasses of wine on holiday and have quite a relaxed attitude to diet,

On another note have just booked hypnobirthing class, is anyone else going to try that?Smile
