London that exercise routine sounds really good. I have been trying to find a pregnancy yoga centre near mine but they all start after 7pm , & am too knackered on a work day to go in so late ...

Whereabouts is your gym ? I'm in west London and badly in need of getting into some gentle workouts.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 31/08/2016 10:28

I weigh every Wednesday without fail. I didn't weigh at all in my last pregnancy and gained over 4 stone and I'm not doing that again. Took me a long time to get back to a weight I was happy with and I still had a stone to go so being good, mostly. I'm 18 weeks on Friday and have gained 6lb in total. It was 4lb but I gained 2lb this week after a very food filled weekend! X

LondonGirl83 · 31/08/2016 10:31

toburp I'm in Dulwich so probably no good for you. My gym is called ESPH and they also have a branch on Harley Street but I'm not sure that has the pregnancy classes. East Duleich in particular is baby central do there are lots of antenatal classes around

LondonGirl83 · 31/08/2016 10:32

Is anyone else getting hip pain at night? I just can't get a goodnight's sleep 😩

Shellbell0403 · 31/08/2016 10:46

London i can't lie on my right side for long as get quite bad pain on that side.

ever how you feeling today?

So think we are going to book a gender scan for either end of this week or next... keep changing my mind haha

kikisdelivery · 31/08/2016 10:46

London not hip pain, but I am just finding getting a good night's sleep tricky right now and I'm not sure why. Like I said in one of my earlier posts, my sleep right now just doesn't feel very deep. I woke up this morning feeling ok initially, and then the second I'd left the house to head to the train I felt increasingly rubbish and tired. I feel your pain!

LondonGirl83 · 31/08/2016 11:13

Sorry Shell and Kiki that you are suffering too. I think I'm going to research getting a really good pregnancy pillow. I already have bad hips from previous injuries so I really can't take this. My DH is making me hot water bottles every morning so I can get out of bed... Even after that they still ache the rest of the day.

The pilates yesterday helped a lot but all that good was immediately undone last night.

I'm open to pregnancy pillow recommendations from all of you veteran moms on here!

Hello ladies,

I've been a bit quiet recently as I've not been feeling too good. Signed off work for two weeks but will probably go back on Monday as I'm much better than I was. I've had quick read through and will attempt semi-personal replies below - apologies for being crap!

Housemovers - I hope all has gone well and you are getting settled. I love moving house and find it so exciting! I can't remember who it was that paid packers but we did the same when we moved and it was brilliant. What would have taken us weeks took them less than a morning and they did such a good job of wrapping and labelling.

Weight watchers (sorry, couldn't think of a better collective!) - I've read lots of conflicting advice as to what is 'normal'. Does anyone know what we 'should' have gained by this point? I keep saying I'm going to put batteries back in the scales but haven't got round to it yet Hmm I'm quite sure most of my 'bump' is chicken nuggets, salt and vinegar crisps, potato waffles and cheese.

Someone mentioned 4-in-1 maternity jeans a while back - does anyone know where you can get these? I'm finally starting to accept I need to go maternity shopping. MW laughed at me this morning as my jeans are being held up with a hair bobble looped through the button hole and then around the button!

Had my 16 week appointment this morning (at 17+5) and all seems well. Slightly low on iron so am going to stock up on nuts and green veg. She listened for the heart beat which was nice and reassuring! 20 week scan on 19th Sept - need to decide whether we want to find out the sex. What are the pros and cons? We have no clue!

I hope everyone is feeling well today Smile

twocatsandatoddler · 31/08/2016 11:25

London I have a Dream Genie and it's great. I washed it after last pregnancy and it's gone a bit lumpy so I'm tempted to replace it with a new one as its not as comfy as it was, but I dug to out of the attic last week and even though lumpy it's made a huge difference to how many times I wake up in the night.

kikisdelivery · 31/08/2016 11:50

Scotty, sorry you've been feeling bad and it's nice to see you back Smile. My 20 week appt is the same week as yours, on 23rd for me. I'm definitely going to find out sex if we can, for literally no other reason than me being an impatient control freak and wanting to know!!

London I started using a basic pillow off Amazon which a colleague recommended - nothing fancy - and it was ok but I've moved it out of the bed for now as I think there'll be more benefit to it when I'm bigger. Will try to find the link.

In general, I've been looking at nursery ideas myself today. We'll be also using a spare room which is currently a bedroom for guests, though I don't know what the plan will be once the bub's here! I've fallen in love with the idea of a woodland theme - bright tree stickers on the walls (we have white walls and stripped wood floor - we won't be painting anything but will make it colourful with accessories and pictures), and artwork of cartoony-style woodland creatures. I'm describing it badly, but in my head I know what I mean!!

LondonGirl83 · 31/08/2016 12:19

Scotty welcome back. We decided to find out what we were having as I figure its a surprise whenever you find out and I'm not one for delaying gratification. On a practical note, I also wanted to be able to get on with buying things I'm not one for a really gendered approach to clothes or nursery decoration but so much of baby clothes etc is either blue or pink. The only really common gender neutral option being sold is grey, which I love but there is only so much grey I want to dress my baby in! We are having a girl but I wish there were more purple, green and yellow newborn clothes available!

LondonGirl83 · 31/08/2016 12:25

Thanks kiki and twocats for the pillow recommendation. I am feeling really overwhelmed by all the things I need to do and buy still even though there are still 24 weeks to go. I feel like the last few weeks will be a right off as I'll be so big.

The problem with me is I am just really pick so everything I buy is a really long process of comparing and research and trying to find something I think is well designed etc.

Also, I recently I realized I don't know anything (ANYTHING) about newborn babies! I'm reading What to Expect which has a long postpartum section.

ScottyAl · 31/08/2016 12:36

kikis I can totally envisage your nursery idea and think it sounds lovely. I too am an impatient control freak but I still just don't know whether to find out or not. It might make decorating easier though. I've ordered some wallpaper samples (wallpapering one wall and painting the rest grey) and OH thinks they are all more suited to a boy. I thought they were pretty gender neutral! I wonder if he's just saying this because he's hoping for a boy and trying to send as many 'boy vibes' as he can?!

London I'm with you - I don't like the whole gender specific blue/pink clothing. I've searched everywhere for unisex stuff but everything is either beige, monochrome or grey. I was hoping to get some lovely colourful clothes but the ones I have found are super expensive. I'll probably buy one or two of the expensive ones and end up giving in to the blue/pink.

ScottyAl · 31/08/2016 12:37

Does anyone have a link to the 'What to Expect' book? I've just googled and there are so many options!

twocatsandatoddler · 31/08/2016 12:42

Scotty I don't think it matters too much. We painted DS's nursery blue before we knew he was a boy, we chose quite a warm blue and planned to add feminine accents if needed when the baby was born. I loved the idea of a grey but both other bedrooms and our sitting room are grey so wanted some colour in the nursery and I wasn't keen on yellow as a 'neutral' colour so just decided to go with what we liked even if it was 'masculine'. I'm not a fan of pink so don't think we'd have gone for that even if we knew we were having a girl.

SBSparkles · 31/08/2016 13:10

London I get really achy legs at night and often wake up with a dead left leg!
I know my midwife said its normal but still not had any kicks for the last two or three days. It's worrying me quite a bit now. Anyone else in the same situation? Xx

Dreamingoutloud7 · 31/08/2016 13:16

Another one planning a grey nursery here!

To all the house movers, wow you are all amazing, I literally couldn't imagine anything worse right now than packing and unpacking my whole house!

london and scotty I'm with you, I'm not a very pink person but I think I'll have to get over that if we have a girl as there's not many more options.

Dreamingoutloud7 · 31/08/2016 13:19

scotty this is the one I purchased www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/1847373755/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472645828&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=what+to+expect+when+your+expecting

It's good I will say though it's very American so a lot of the advice is different to over here which can get a bit confusing.

LondonGirl83 · 31/08/2016 13:22

Scotty Two Cats, the wall you face when you walk into our nursery is a really beautiful shade of green and the other walls are white. No pink for us either. Lots of colorful accessories that I think could work for either a boy or a girl. I've also bought some muslins that are blue themed cause I liked them. I asked my DH and he agreed it was fine though I'm sure we'll get looks from our families...

Scotty I'm doing the same as you though unfortunately, I've bought more expensive stuff than probably makes sense... I figure I am only buying a very limited amount (10-12 sleepsuits/ playsuits /outfits for the entire first 3 months plus vests with poppers) so I'll just wash often and get what I like rather than loads of cheaper stuff just for the sake of it.

I'm basing my amounts on the NHS / baby center recommendations. I hope that sounds right to you veteran moms. It took me an age just to figure out what the hell the difference was between an all in one, sleep suit, play suit etc. I'm not 100% convinced I totally get it yet Confused

LondonGirl83 · 31/08/2016 13:24

Scotty this is the one I bought: www.amazon.co.uk/What-Expect-When-Youre-Expecting/dp/1847373755

I can't say if I like it yet-- just started it having finished 'Expecting Better' which was very good.

Dreamingoutloud7 · 31/08/2016 13:27

london I have no idea on the difference between all the all in ones! I keep going to buy some and then get overwhelmed with what ones I need, like the ones that go underneath you can get in sleeveless, short sleeved, 3/4 sleeved and long sleeved and I have no idea what I need Confused

Readyfortwo · 31/08/2016 13:29

Next have some lovely gender neutral/colourful stuff. I love their babygro's as they are really good quality & have built in scratch mitts which are so much easier than trying to get loose ones to stay on those tiny hands!

Dreaming our babies will be dressed in god knows what! It seems like everything for newborns is really just some form of pajamas (even when they are an 'outfit' anyhow) so I guess we can't go too wrong :)

I got a couple of convertible night gowns-- apparently its easier than sleepsuits when they are really little as you don't have to mess with poppers during the night when you are changing them really frequently.

Ready thanks for the link! I'll take a look this evening at home.

twocatsandatoddler · 31/08/2016 13:49

London 10-12 sleepsuits sounds like plenty to start with - you can always buy more after she arrives if you need to. In reality the amount you'll get through in a day varies so much depending on your baby - DS was rarely sick so we didn't need as many outfit changes as friends who had refluxy babies and 10 would have lasted about 3 days which is reasonable I think. They often get covered in poo so we didn't leave them sitting around dirty for too long anyway!
