Hope everyone is enjoying the snow. Very as have been staying with my mum near Bath - we have NO SNOW and dh just phoned to say he is snowed in at home and the kids would be having a ball in our back garden. Grrrrrrr

Piffle - I've been getting some light headed/ breathless moments - like you've taken in too much oxygen/hyperventilating. The worst thing for me is if I then worry about it - I actually DO start hyperventilating. This pg is really messing with my mind!!!

Right... off to crawl round on my hands and knees. Good job our dog is castrated! (sorry can't believe i just typed that!!

35+6 (boy)

I'll be back to read all your posts at lunch-time (oh, look, we're nearly there . But I have to add that I love Relocation also - one can dream. As for last night and having £850k to play with... jeez, a girl can dream.

I'm looking for old wives tales... have got the usual size, appearance, cravings from the net. If you can help, could you have a lookie here

divastrop · 08/02/2007 12:46

hello

it started snowing here a while ago but not in any seious way.my mum sent me a pic of her front garden all covered in snow this morning.i hate snow,so im glad its not settling here.it'd be ok if i didnt have to go anywhere but thats not going to happen.

i feel light headed today as well, but i think its due to tiredness from dd2 being in our room last night.she didnt know what was going on and kept waking up and talking to the cat.

i think ive actually sorted the baby's stuff now..i seem to have everything packed.my hospital bag is a different matter though.i looked through it today thinking it was sorted and theres no nighty,or indeed an old nighty to give birth in,theres no slippers,no going home outfit and no towel.i just want to get organised now.

35+1

Fox don't be humiliated do a link, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on......

foxabout2pop · 08/02/2007 13:39

Muppet - so your dog likes you then?

Dogs always try and mate with my right thigh, so IKWYM!

Where does your Mum live? My sister is in Box and my Mum is in Corsham, bith near Bath. If we moved out of London, that's where we'd go. (dreams)

Diva - slippers etc - lordy I haven't even packed my pads, let alone niceties. Are people taking "snacks" to hospital? I've bought a bag of liquorice teddy bears to keep me going.

Don't forget the camera

Rosy - I tried to do a link a few weeks back and after 4 attempts vowed I would never, ever, try again. Someone from my local thread needs to come and physically show me how to do it

LunarSea · 08/02/2007 13:54

Still snowing here - but has eased off a little bit.

Booboobedoo · 08/02/2007 14:25

It's raining here now .

I've just written two long, cathartic letters to my Mum and DH. DH's was about how much pressure he's putting on me re finances & DIY, and my Mum's was about... well, long story really. I just feel like they're both expecting too much of me atm. I'm a hormonal wreck, and I really need to start focussing in on the birth etc now.

Don't even know if I'll send my Mum's, but I just feel better clarifying it all to myself.

divastrop · 08/02/2007 14:55

booboo-why dont you think you'll send your mothers?i can understand men and their 'being pregnant is natural so you should just get on with everyday life like normal' warped and ignorant way of thinking, but you would think our mothers, who are meant to have been through this themselves, would be more understanding.

Booboobedoo · 08/02/2007 15:51

Diva: I think I'm going to phone her and sit with the letter in front of me instead to keep things clear.

She's a good Mum and is helping me out a lot, but getting very stressed about stuff and still expecting me to offer her emotional support in return. I guess she genuinely can't remember what this stage of pregnancy is like, but I need her to understand.

I think in a phone-call I can handle it moresensitively IYSWM.

3rdtriMOSSter · 08/02/2007 17:07

Aw Foxy I used to see foxes all the time when I was in London but you never see them up here. I remember nearly crying once because I saw one running through Lewisham town centre in the dead of night and you could see its ribs and entire bone structure it was so thin

Having said that maybe it's not such a bad thing I'm not sure Ziggy would be too happy if a fox showed up in his back yard!
Good grief goodness knows what you could get for £250k up here! My house almost three times over that's what (which is two-bed... so you'd have a six bedroom house!) You'd have to share the front lawn with all the neighbours though!

Diva snow isn't sticking here either but maybe it will have stuck back at home. Only an hour to go then I'll find out! I haven't packed my bag yet either. Or done my birth plan. Keep meaning to do it!

Amie did your dh manage to get the cot bed up then?

Lunar how nice are you letting the kids borrow the sledge!

Booboo best of luck with your Mum.

Right I've got to sort through about thirty candidates now before six o'clock. Oh joy of joys - only 14 and a bit working days to go though!!!

3rdtriMOSSter · 08/02/2007 17:17

Grrrrr - trying really really hard not to post a reply on a thread about regional accents especially when everything I've posted so far has been eminently reasonable!

"If you know it's not correct English then why do it?"

Right I'm gonna close down t'internet 'fore I say summat and get on wi' me werk see yous all laters!

muppetisacat · 08/02/2007 17:42

Foxy - they are in Bradford-on-Avon - I went to school in Bath - just love it. Would love to move there one day as so much for kids to do growing up but not as scary as London - which never agreed with me.

At moment i'm in darkest Surrey - as that's where dh is from - he loves Bath too though - so could be persuaded to re-locate one day!

AmieR · 08/02/2007 18:12

Muppet - Bath is a wonderful place, I'd like to live in that neck of the woods one day...

Moos - He sure did! Looks good... bit odd to get it up tho as it now looks like the room is half the size it was! LOL

Lunar - if you got to the meet up night, take care!

I've got my second and last parentcraft tonight.. I think its on feeding, so maybe more interesting than last weeks on labour! LOL

LunarSea · 08/02/2007 18:17

Amie - I can't go as our road is blocked - big delivery van got stuck, then little van managed to get in past it, but couldn't get out again. Neighbours who got to work today are all having to park on other roads because they can't get in, and the rest of us can't get out! It's not even as if we're on a big hill. We've got snow chains for the car, so in theory driving on the snow isn't a problem, but if I can't get out.....

OP posts:
foxabout2pop · 08/02/2007 18:17

Muppet - we'll probably both end up there

Bradford on Avon is one of the places which has been suggested (equidistant from Catholic primary school and Catholic secondary )

hhhmmm dream on.

Boo - its a good idea to have the letter in front of you when you ring - will keep you focussed and you can make sure you don't miss anything. IKWYM though - if you soldier on I think people just forget your eight months PG and still expect you to do thinks your body and mind just can't cope with at this stage.

Might treat myself to a Waitrose curry tonight

foxabout2pop · 08/02/2007 18:19

Amie - why don't we all move there? My biggest worry is not knowing anyone (apart from my disfunbctional family that is)

Lunar - do you live in a cul de sac. We used to live in one and were forever being trapped in by trucks etc

LunarSea · 08/02/2007 18:52

fox - yes it's a cul de sac, on a very small slope. Honestly, if you saw it on a normal day, you wouldn't believe vehicles could get stuck on it.

OP posts:
foxabout2pop · 08/02/2007 18:53

Have the vans gone now Lunar ?

LunarSea · 08/02/2007 19:11

Fox - No! I've just watched thatm have another go with the small one - but it's only ended up stuck at the bottom of the hill instead of the top! At least there's a gap now which one of two people here with 4x4's might be able to get through.

OP posts:
Booboobedoo · 08/02/2007 20:22

lol @ lunar being stuck in a cul-de-sac. Very Adrian Mole. . (I am sympathetic, honest).

Foxy: I'll really have to steel myself to have this conversation. I'm so used to protecting my Mum.

On the positive side, DH responded really positively to the e-mail. He called me a couple of hours later and was lovely and understanding . He's promised to back off! Relief.

Mossy: where was the regional accents thread? Of course, I'm Southern, so I don't have an accent . .

divastrop · 08/02/2007 20:26

moss-a thread on regional accents is kicking off??

when i was visiting my mum a couple of years ago somebody in the local pub asked me where i was from.'here' i replied.he said'you've got a northern accent!' and i said 'ave i eck as like!'

mind you,i dont get called a cockney up here anymore

dp was getting bored doing the painting on his own so i helped this afternoon.i'd never painted a skirting board before in my life.it shows.but at least its done now, everything is nearly ready.i even washed the bedding for the moses basket.

fox-i have to pack my hospital bag in preparation for being in a couple of days before i have the baby, thats why 'niceties' are so important.

boo-hope the phonecall went ok.

3rdtriMOSSter · 08/02/2007 20:36

Diva yes you're right I don't know why I didn't see that one coming!!

Lol at "av I eck as like!"

Booboo I thought you were in South London don't you have a London accent? Or are you rp through and through?

Lunar did you manage to get out of your cul de sac!

Amie hope your parentcraft was better this week!

Mil made tea tonight, a lovely paella (sp?) and she has brought over loads of baby clothes her friend bought; they're adorable!

Booboobedoo · 08/02/2007 20:42

Mossy: I was being sarky. . I thought it enraged Northerners to be told that Southerners don't have accents!

I don't really have a South London accent. I've lived round here for seven years, but I actually grew up outside SW London, and went to University in North Wales. So I'm capable of being quite RP if the situation requires, but if I'm not thinking about it I've got a Middlesex twang, with a hint of Gogledd Cymru. Oh, and I lived with a North Yorkshireman for two years, so there's a bit of that in there when I'm drunk.

divastrop · 08/02/2007 20:53

drunk...sorry,what does that mean again???

3rdtriMOSSter · 08/02/2007 20:56

Sorry Booboo I am a bit dim these days I think I need sarcasm spelling out to me with a glowing neon sign!

Ooh, talk of being drunk has reminded me I've half a bottle of guinness in the fridge!!
