New thread because the old one's about to hit the 1000 posts mark.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
foxabout2pop · 05/02/2007 19:33

Boobuddy - viable

You mean we could pop don't you???

I've got a car seat, and bag contents but have not packed them yet...

have you got a TENS machine?

I haven't got round to getting a TENS yet....

divastrop · 05/02/2007 20:04

morocco-well done for getting lo to turn round

lunar-the only baby of mine who fit into newborn stuff was dd2 who was 6lb13.the other 3 were straight into 0-3.i bought all newborn stuff for dd2 anyway cos i was determined i wasnt going past 38 weeks.

moss-i got given loads of stuff for ds1 when i was preg, and all the aunties/grannies and their friends were knitting from when i was about 16 weeks.this time i havent been given a single thing, and cant find one cardigan for the baby anywhere.

why dont people knit anymore?

fox-i think if you popped now the baby would no longer be classed as premso you can get sucking a twiddling to your hearts' content

dp and i have time without the kids every evening from 8pm,but he wont sit in the living room cos he hates watching telly and he just wants to stay on the pc all night,so i end up staying on here till my back can take it no more then going and watching crap telly by myself, then falling asleep on the sofa.i feel like he's only ever known me depressed, and will always see me as this pathetic insecure paranoid idiot.

divastrop · 05/02/2007 20:04

fox-that was meant to say sucking and twiddling.

foxabout2pop · 05/02/2007 20:15

Diva - oh dear that sounds like our marriage which seems to consist of us doing chores, discussing chores, arguing about chores and sleeping

Sounds like its you two who are in need of the sucking and twiddling!!

Sorry - trust me to lower the tone

I hate TV too and come on MN to avoid having to watch it or talk to DH as I feel too tired to engage with anyone in the evenings.

Who is your DP talking to on the PC or is he playing games and stuff?

foxabout2pop · 05/02/2007 20:17

ps Diva - you certainly don't come across as a paranoid idiot - so he can't think that anyway.

morocco · 05/02/2007 20:17

omg we're all getting ready for the big day! I haven't organised a bag yet but have bought some bits and bobs. trouble is, I've packed them away in various places i can't now remember.
had hilarious conversation today about birth pools. someone I know recommended them but said you have to sign a form agreeing that if your dh gets in with you, he will wear some kind of clothes!! can you imagine - some dh's apparently are trying to get in the pool at the hosp starkers - more than the mw bargained for I imagine. Anyhow, i decided to wind dh up by packing his swimming cossie in the labour bag - it's so not his scene. can't wait to tell him.

re stairs: yep, it did feel like dicing with death and I wondered how I'd explain it to the ambulance crew but actaully it was ok cos I just went really slowly. i think you're not necessarily meant to crawl down them, some sites just recommend using them to get into a head down position. It was one position that felt like it was really tipping her up off her bum as well. the other one was the shoulder stand but I could only face doing that once.
the mw today really recommended the moxibusion btw for getting them to turn

foxabout2pop · 05/02/2007 20:19

Morocco - my DH would die of embarassment if I so much suggested he get in the pool with me!

sazzybee · 05/02/2007 20:24

foxy - This is a bit late in the day but I've been offline since yesterday morning (feels a lifetime ago)

Monti 1
Adoni 2
Kami 2
Tarwin 3
Miro 1
Coorain 1
Pier 2
Pindar 2
Parri 1
Nardu 2
Dheran 2
Berrigan 2

If that just confuses the issue, please ignore

Morocco - that's fantastic that you managed to turn your LO. It gives me hope that my ridiculous positions are getting me somewhere.

Saw the consultant today though who said that it's unlikely that he's going to turn himself because of all the amniotic fluid. So he wants me to go back in 2 weeks to have an external version. Anyone know anyone who's had this done?

If he doesn't turn, they'll give me a c section. I feel better knowing what's going to happen. Either way, I'm unlikely to go to term because of the sheer weight of liquid sloshing around. I'm quite relieved in a way but would like to make it to 37 weeks.

Only got 4 more days left of work - phew!

Hope the rest of you are doing well - 3tri - I hope you've got to a place where you feel that you've made the right choice about telling your family about the baby.

diva - I hope that you are just being pg anxious. Have you talked to your dp about the way you're feeling?

35 weeks today (boy)

divastrop · 05/02/2007 20:43

fox-he plays that game all the time and chats to the other players, but as its in character and only about the game i'm supposed not to mind.but the idea that he could be chatting to some lass(i dont care what about)more than me really gets to me.i dont think he can handle it when im tearful, and he just keeps his distance.

i'm just terrified cos i've not had experience of a relationship lasting for long after ive had the baby.with my xp and xh,once i started feeling better atfer the birthi realised what b*ds they'd been to me when i was at my most vulnerable and it was the beginning of the end.

i've tried talking to him but he just cant see what my problem is,as he says he wouldnt still be here if he didnt want to be

sorry to go on about it

LOL@men getting into the birthing pool naked...yuk

foxabout2pop · 05/02/2007 20:43

Thanks Sazzy - Dh and I still can't agree on names!!!!

foxabout2pop · 05/02/2007 20:47

Diva - sounds like you're feeling very insecure and maybe seeing the forthcoming birth as the beginning of the end, 'cos that's what's happened before.

He probably feels insecure when you chat with us lot too!!

Its sounds as though he really loves you - why don't you explain to him what you've just said on here and talk it through, so at least he'll understand why you feel like that. If you cry, you can just tell him its your hormones (which it is). You definately need some reassurance right now.

LunarSea · 05/02/2007 20:53

sazzybee - at you finishing work - I've still got another 33 days to do. But at least they've agreed to let me stop by my due date now! And to not travel anywhere after the start of March. Which is an improvement over the EDD + 8 they were suggesting And I've even got someone to interview on Thursday about covering for me. A bit that they're proposing to pay my cover a lot more than they pay me though!

Have come home via Toys(Babies) 'R Us and Sainsburys tonight - still didn't buy any baby clothes (maybe tomorrow), but did find a lightweight dressing gown for me in Sainsbury's and a changing bag/rucksac in Toys 'R Us (the one I had last time was falling apart by the end, so even if we kept it, which I'm not sure we did, it needed replacing anyway.

I forget who was asking about baby sleeping bags a few hundred posts ago - but Sainsbury's have the lightweight 0-6 size ones for £10, which is pretty good.

OP posts:
foxabout2pop · 05/02/2007 21:11

Lunar is your cover likely to be male or female? If they're male, you can challenge your employers under the Equal Pay Act. That's preceisly what happened to me in my old job - they paid some bloke about £2.5k more than me . My current employers also tried to do the same, but I challenged them and they've agreed not to. They're paying him slightly less now and are talking about giving us both a pay rise

Just had a really funny incident with DH. I showed him the naming votes and we started arguing about names (as you do..).

Dheran is out of the running, as it sounds like Darren which we both hate.

So I kept saying "how about Monti then?"

But DH said he wanted a bird name as DS1's name means a type of Australian bird. He handed me a list of bird names in a book of his...guess which name I found??

"Monti" ...means "A Stork" ! LOL!

Looks like Monti it is...

Just as I suggested the name Monti again, DH had his hand on my tum to feel the baby kick, and Monti started kicking furiously.

"There he recognises his name" I said sweetly...

divastrop · 05/02/2007 21:22

fox-glad you've chosen the name now,and sounds like it meets with lo's approval.

i am not allowed to do the suck+twiddle for another 2 weeks.

dp just asked if i was ok as i seem quiet?

LunarSea · 05/02/2007 22:08

fox - it's complicated a bit by my cover being a contractor, and me being permanent, but even after you add on the extra to cover employers NI and pension they're still proposing to pay him half as much again per hour as they nominally do me. And he'll get paid for every hour he works, whereas I'm expected to put in lots of unpaid overtime too - so for actual hours it'll be more like double what I get.

OP posts:
sazzybee · 05/02/2007 22:40

33 days lunarsea?! That's insane! I'm due in 33 days.

My boss has completely failed any maternity cover for me which means my colleagues are going to have to try and do my job as well as their own until he sorts it out. I feel a bit guilty but I'm not working longer just because he's so useless. Fortunately I don't know how much he is paying my replacement or I think I'd explode. I know that he's advertising the job at a higher grade than I'm on. This is ostensibly because he's pushing for a promotion for me for when I get back but it infuriates me when I've been trying to get it for the last 18 months.

Enough ranting. Only four more days. breathe

fox - excellent choice of name

diva - I can't tell you how many men I know who spend most of their time living in a virtual world. It's a bit sad but I don't think it means they'd rather not be with their DPs.

eidsvold · 05/02/2007 23:01

Bethoo - Hayden is a family name - lots of Haydens and Thomas' on my mother's side.

Finn is great Piffle.

Boo - I have had a couple of dizzy spells - usually from me getting up too quickly - but if you are worried - call the mw.

Yankee - I never had braxton hicks with my two dds but have had a few with this one - I think - either that or terrible indigestion - which I also never had with the other two.

Foxy - glad you finally got it sorted. Monti is fab...... dh is funny when I want to discuss names but I feel like the baby has to have a name to 'grow' into rather than waiting to see what they look like - but that is just me.

got layby off yesterday and so have wraps, hats, scratch mits etc to wash now. A few more nappies to wash - a couple of more laybys to get off and then I am done!!!! My dad sent us some money yesterday so am off to get the laybys off whilst dd1 is in kindy on Thurs. Just need one little present for baby to give to dd2 and finished.

Gp asked me yesterday if I was all organised - well baby's hospital bag is packed but I am not ready except for new slippers and deoderant, breastpads and some maternity pads - just the essentials But figure I am only 32 1/2 weeks no need to worry yet!!

LunarSea · 06/02/2007 07:28

Yankee - I never had noticeable BH's with ds either, but they're very obvious this time. I guess it's just down to our bodies having done it all before and knowing a bit better what to do this time. Let's hope that holds true when it comes to the birth too!

3rdtriMOSSter · 06/02/2007 08:08

Morning all,

Felt so sick this morning I texted Darth and told him I was going to be in much later this morning.

If he says anything when I get in I shall wait until I feel sick next, fail to hold it in, and happen to be right by his desk.

Sorry that was a bit tmi!

I feel loads better for the extra hour & a half in bed actually.

Lunar / Yankee I haven't had any BH yet, or maybe I have but I'm mistaking them for something else. I'm gonna get myself on the raspberry leaf tea soon.

Eids I need to buy scratch mitts too. I didn't know what they were until yesterday!

Sazzybee I hope you do get your promotion when you get back, but it's a bit rude that they haven't given it you already, some companies are just rubbish aren't they?

Diva I come on here when dh is watching TV as I really can't be arsed sitting in front of telly and would much rather go on mn. Dh keeps referring to "my imaginary friends"!!

But agree with what everyone else says, to sit down & talk to him. But I'm sure that he won't think you're pathetic or insecure. You've had some awful experiences in the past with dreadful men so of course you need reassurance, it's totally natural that you would! {{{hugs}}}

Foxy - yay you've chosen! And I think Monti is fantastic. And by the sounds of it, so does Monti!!

Lunar that is unbelievable about your employers. They sound like a horrible bunch. It's a shame you're having to go back to them and can't go elsewhere when you've finished maternity leave, it must be awful to feel tied to them. I hope they see what they've been missing while you're off, and treat you better when you return.

Sazzy I do feel better, about telling them. I am going to wait until after he's born and then tell them, well, tell Dad initially. Dh will be off on paternity leave then holiday, for the first three weeks, and mil will be around all the time initially, so if they do pay a surprise visit I will have lots of support to "lay down the law" as it were.

Morocco lol at hairy arsed blokes getting in birthing pools with their meat & two veg hanging out! Those poor MWs no wonder they make 'em sign a form!!!

Booboo lucky you your last day teaching! What plans do you have now for the time up until the birth?

Laidback I have only bought the really massive sanitary pads, too, the extra super heavy night time ones. So fingers crossed I won't need the maternity ones they look like nappies!

Right the pets are not used to being fed this late and are ganging up on me. Ziggy is nibbling my fingers and meowing like crazy so I had better go!!!

Hello and good morning to anyone I've missed!!

eidsvold · 06/02/2007 08:37

mossy - i had to go and get some with dd2 after she had been born - she seemed to scratch her face every 5 minutes... she hated them. I ended up putting some socks on her hands at one stage.

bethoo · 06/02/2007 09:10

From reading everyones messages it seems as if i ma the only one who has not got a tens machine! i suppose i should also start gettign my labour bag ready. still feels weird that i am going to have a baby!
only 3 working days to go!!! yipeeeee

36+4
boy

3rdtriMOSSter · 06/02/2007 09:10

I'm gonna get some this weekend Eids, apparently Asda do them.

I'm not in work, I was all up and ready to walk to the station and a huge wave of nausea swept over me and I was sick. I phoned Darth and told him I wouldn't be in today.

I had ten days off last year and that's all you get full pay for. So I'm hoping the company's year runs Jan - Dec instead of April - March like the financial year!!

Still I can sit and watch the cricket at least.

foxabout2pop · 06/02/2007 09:11

Diva - he noticed you were quiet, which is more than my DH would!!

Lunar - have a look on the Equal Opportrunities Commission website (incapable of doing links)

Glad Monti has the thumbs up - I really like it More of a brunette name though isn't it? My other two are both blonde

Has anyone tried "nittygritty"? We're having terrible problems with headlice at the school. I'm using tea tree shampoo and Lyclear atm, but getting totally fed yup with de-infesting my children, only for them to come home infested again 2 days later .

3rdtriMOSSter · 06/02/2007 09:11

X-posts Bethoo, I don't have a TENS machine either. One of mil's friends has one for her arthiritus (sp?) so I'm going to have a word with mil and see if her friend will let me borrow it. Otherwise I'm gonna stick with my massive bath and a hot water bottle for the early stages before I get to the hosi.

foxabout2pop · 06/02/2007 09:12

Bethoo - I haven't even ordered a TENS machine yet - thanks for reminding me!!!
